@chaircover, thanks so much for your advice, am really trying hard to get a new job with that I will think less of him, and with that I can go out more because for now am always at home with my laptop. It's wonderful sharing with you guys. Thanks so much. BUT BY THE WAY WHY DO MARRIED MEN CHEAT ON THEIR WIVES EVEN IF THE WOMEN ARE SO DEAD FAITHFUL ITS SO PATHETIC AND PAINFUL.
That is the reason why he cheats. The guy don tire for you. So many men will ask their wives to sit at home, so that she can become dependent on them. Then they soon begin to resent her and take her for granted. Even if you are not working, maintain a business or something that keeps you busy and out of the house for a few hours. Not something that will make you stay out of the house permanently ooh. Everything in this life is about balance. Get your mind busy and get something doing. It also helps you prepare to stand on your feet just in case the marriage does not work out. I advise you first get yourself something doing, and then sit him down for a serious discussion. Let him know he will lose his home if he does not quit. Also let him know if he decides to change you will let go of all resentment and living in the past over this issue. If he changes keep your word, and let go of everything for the sake of your home. If he doesnt i advice you to leave so that you can keep you and your children safe. He is exposing you to very dangerous situations, as this life is very complex right now. You dont want him to bring you a disease that will prevent you from seeing your children pass so many milestones in their lives. Think well and build your pride and self esteem back up. Let him see you are a new person, that values yourself and your children's future. They are innocent in this, dont make them suffer because of your selfishness of wanting to die with a cheating spouse. I am sure he showed traits of cheating when you were dating, and were probably the person he cheated with. As you make your bed, you lie in it. make the best decision for you, aye ti le oh. PLEASE GET TESTED!!!

See dem. Yeye feminazi wanna be's. He's now the abusive one abi? I'm pretty sure your petty biased and vindictive mind didn't comprehend when she actually mentioned shaking him up and KICKING him! Who's abusing who? Would the guy have gotten physical if she didn't start it all up in the first place? This is how a guy (not a close pal of mine though) used to be physically assaulted by his wife (now ex-wife). It started like this (small hitting and squabbles) every now and then and within 3 years of marriage, she was already bold enough to slap him several times in public in full view of everyone. Heaven knows how many times he couldn't make it to work because his wife had him in a grip vice at home. How many times did he have his shirt torn to shreds? How many times did he try counselling through church and family members? How many times did he hold "sit down" talks that led to no where? But the day he finally retaliated by showing her that she's not the only one who knows how to slap. . .he automatically became "an abusive misogynist husband" who "abused" the wife mentally and physically. . .lol

Useless yeye things. The truth is, once a woman starts getting physical, sooner or later it will become the norm until the man evens up the equation and then, he becomes the "bad evil man" who can't fight his mate on the street except his wife at home.

Hypocrites! ! !
Outstrip:
Listen id iot. It is obvious that you are a woman beater. My prayer is that you meet the one that beats the crap out of you and then feeds it to you. She mentioned that he twisted her arm and then she kicked him. Did you miss that? I am sure twisting her arm is the same as pre-intimacy to you. She had every right to defend herself. If in your opinion a woman who defends herself is a feminist then I think every woman should be a feminists. The problem with abusive people like you is that you can never hide your true colors. A woman saying she kicked a man after he assaulted her gets your blood boiling. So tell me, how many have you hit? Does it make you feel manly that you slapped a woman around. Does it make you feel in charge? You really sound juvenile. At best you are an abusive, ignorant n-word that has probably been locked up a few times for beating his wife. If you haven't been locked up for spousal abuse it's only because she has been too afraid to call the police on your a ss. I bet you probably beat her up and claim that she made you do it. She provoked you. She nagged you so much you lost your cool. You woke up one morning and you realized she was ugly. She looked at you funny. YOU ARE NOT A MAN. You are simply a creature with a peni s. Nothing special about you. You do not deserve anybody's sister, daughter, or loved one. You should be with another man who is big and bad enough to whip you into submission.

alj harem1:
ok brother, i perfectly understand what you are talking about

@ bolded, from what i understand you said, excanny agrument is that osu's can some times be referred to as people that are representative/ servant or devoted to gods etc

but Tewmuch is saying that they are not, according to him he is saying they are neither representative or devoted to gods

what Tewmuch is saying is that they are no osu's in yorubaland, the people that have surnames as ogunleyi (ogun) etc are all just surnames there family choose (here it is a choice) to have since they are worshipping those gods back in the olden days. These families had the choice and choose that surname because decided to have it so as to honour there gods back then when they were worshipping him.

just like a parent that names his son Chukwuemeka (God has done it i think) has honour God with that name

or a person with Okafor as his surname (born on a market day) in a sense dedicates that surname or acknowledges market day that the boy was born

so i do not think excanny and Tewmuch were saying the samething

thanks again ChineyeN for your post, i have learnt something today smiley smiley smiley smiley
You are a very brilliant man and you seem to understand everything I have been saying. Imagine someone trying to relate something in his culture to something he has no idea about. And picks it out of his ass to force the person from the particular culture to believe? These people are crazy, Na dem know everything. Dem sabi wetin dem never even see. Lmao. Thanks Alh harem, seems ur the only one with a brain here.
CultureRe: Should 'osu Cast System' In Some Parts Of Igbo Land Be Abolished? by TewMuch: 5:30pm On Jan 09, 2011
ChinenyeN:
That's because "Osu" is not part of our culture.

TewMuch, I said stop trying to argue and pay attention. You are Yoruba. It is presumed (and with good reason) that you will display high levels of ignorance on the issue. So, when an Igbo person wants to inform you further about this, don't argue it. Do not kid yourself. You do not know what an Osu is, because if you did you would understand the basis for excanny's point, which he (and I) took time out to really try and explain to you, but you keep trying to argue with ignorance. Look, if you sincerely refuse to be educated, that is fine. Knowledge and understanding no be by force, but do not argue what you don't know.
i decided to ignore u for the most part because you dont understand what is going on. how can you say i am arguing about something i dont know? i am yoruba and i know my culture better than you. you and excanny have no idea what you are talking about and you are the one's that should stop making comparison's you know nothing of and comparison's that dont exist. t is my place as someone that knows my culture and tradition to correct you. he comparison is far fetched and simply doesnt exist or apply in oruba culture. ou should stop arguing and trying to convince me of something you dont understand or have no idea of. pen your mind, learn and shut up.
CultureRe: Should 'osu Cast System' In Some Parts Of Igbo Land Be Abolished? by TewMuch: 3:07pm On Jan 09, 2011
"The Igbos, which are the center of this discourse, discriminate against each other by reason of the Osu caste status. The Igbo people refer to the Osu in varied names; it is referred to as Adu-Ebo in Nzam in Onitsha. In the Nsukka area it is referred to as Oruma; it is called Nwani or Ohualusi at Augwu area.2 These names, Osu, Ume, Ohu, Oru, Ohu Ume, Omoni (Okpu-Aja), have the same connotation in Igboland. The people referred to by the names are regarded as sub-human being, the unclean class, orIgboland. It should noted that in their hierarchy of social status, the Ume (especially, in this author’s community) is the Osu class the Diala abhors to interact or socialize with the most.

"The Osu, by definition, is a people sacrificed to the gods in Igbo community. And they assist the high priest of the traditional religion to serve the deities or the gods in their shrine. It is the belief of many Igbo traditionalists that the deities, which were (and are still) perceived in some quarters as being very powerful, would wreck havoc in the society, if they are not a
ppeased."h
This simply has no correlation with Yoruba culture please don't compare it, it is an insult to people that bear those names. They are not dedicated to any God's to be used as sacrifice$ Those are just their family gods that their families prefer. And they are not discriminated against or used for sacrifice. Caste system does not exist in Yorubaland. The comparison does not exist. So because your family decided to name you chukwuma, ur an Osu. Teacher don't teach me nonsense. It simply is a wrong comparison. Don't tell me I can't read, I know what an Osu is and it simply is a very very wrong comparison to say a chief preist or a follower of a god is sacrified as ebo.

ChinenyeN:
The bolded, being the basis of your response, TewMuch, just shows that you have not been understanding what excanny has been saying. He isn't referring to those people as outcasts. If anything, you and him are saying the same thing, with the exception of excanny going on to further state that some Igbo groups/areas, for whatever reason, have attached ill-luck to the devotees, making them outcasts. Aside from that, the two of you have been in agreement. Excanny even said so himself.
n igbo land maybe. but in yorubaland the concept does not exist so there is no basis for comparison. nd the two should not be compared. to me we are saying totally different things. here are so many deities and god's and so many different families had the Gods they favored that is why the adopted lastnames to show this. Doesnt mean society forces it on them and classifies them into one group. If it did the whole Yorubaland would have been OSU at some point. This is an issue of choice or family influence not stigma's. Its not the same.
CultureRe: Should 'osu Cast System' In Some Parts Of Igbo Land Be Abolished? by TewMuch: 5:48pm On Jan 08, 2011
Excanny you are getting it wrong. Those people are not outcasts. It is just like saying you are referred to as an outcast for being a doctor. The Yoruba gods are loved and revered, so those people's ancestors were worshippers or preists. I think it may have even been an honor to marry into such a family. There were also guilds of farmer's and hunter's who still have those surnnames would you refer to them as outcasts too? A farmer? Yoruba society is very complex, and a very accomodating one. Just like we can't persecute you for being a christian, we can't persecute the ancestor's of an Ifatoye for adherring to Ifa. There was simply nothing like that when it comes to religion. Although I heard a story about some Ijebu's. Not clear on it again. But that was only specific to that area.
CultureRe: Should 'osu Cast System' In Some Parts Of Igbo Land Be Abolished? by TewMuch: 5:39am On Jan 08, 2011
excanny:
There should be a law that makes it a criminal offence, and those still practising it should be convicted and threw behind bars.

In many parts of Nigeria there are also those sacrificed to idols and confirmed Osu's. Some even have the names of such deities as their surnames(Ifatoye, Sangogbemi, etc). I dont see why it should be a big deal in Alaigbo.
huh What are you talking about? Do u really understand anything about Yoruba culture and names? Those names are not for outcasts, it just tells you either the profession of a person's ancestor or the god's they worshipped. An Ifatoye probably comes from a line of ifa priests and a Sangogbemi comes from a long line of Sango worshippers. Yoruba don't have OSU, please try and know what ur talking about before you type. Or you can ask.
Christianity EtcWhat Do You Think About Churches Paying Taxes? by TewMuch(op): 8:05pm On Jan 06, 2011
Nigerian churches are an industry, they can really help the Nigerian government. Since they dont do much in helping the needy with their money they might as well be taxed. Especially those that turn their church businesses to enterprises, with schools and all sorts in their portfolio. wink

Aba Women's Riot

The "riots" or the war, led by women in the provinces of Calabar and Owerri in southeastern Nigeria in November and December of 1929, became known as the "Aba Women's Riots of 1929" in British colonial history, or as the "Women's War" in Igbo history.  Thousands of Igbo women organized a massive revolt against the policies imposed by British colonial administrators in southeastern Nigeria, touching off the most serious challenge to British rule in the history of the colony.  The "Women's War" took months for the government to suppress and became a historic example of feminist and anti-colonial protest.

FamilyRe: I Regret Bringing My Wife Abroad by TewMuch: 6:54pm On Jan 05, 2011
This happened to my uncle even as far back as the 60's. He brought a Nigerian woman to marry in London. This guy was very sucessful back then and listened to his parents to dump his foreign girlfriend for a Nigerian woman. You should see my uncle today, my father feeds him. This woman made him sell everything and move to Nigeria, and when he got broke she left him. In her old age she has boyfriends and has turned the man's children against him to where they dont even give him kobo. This man's life is so pathetic, i dont know if it is jazz, but the man went through hell. She is the most badly behaved woman i know even in old age. I am sure the man regrets listening to his parents. Love who you are with and dont go and put yourself in trouble, by living one dream. Times have changed and never see, come see people are very dangerous.

If your brother was unmarried, why dont you leave the money to your parents to use?
Are you the next of kin on the account? The bank will never release the money to you, sorry.

I am sure this your brother has a family that need the money. Why are you looking to take over your brother's property? You dont have a means of making your own money? Leeches, they will never rest until they put another human being in misery because of greed. If your brother has a wife and children, the money goes to the legal wife and child automatically. Except he put you on the account as next of kin, otherwise nothing for you. Try and get a life of your own.

Lmao, I wonder why men make this mistake? Nigerian economic system makes it a hot bed for the worst wives. Most of these girls have lived a hard and very open eyed life. You need to pay. Visit to the public uni's and see your future wives in action.Nigerian women are not traditional they are hustlers. It is just the reality. They grow up very fast and are actually wiser than the Nigerian women abroad. Even the village ones come to the cities to sell their market and are actually the worst.Nigerian women are the most selfish, feminist creatures. They only live in a repressed society. Once they get the opportunity of freedom then what you will witness, your mouth will not be able to give account. They also watch a lot of MTV these days and are learning fast.If your woman has gone through Nigerian public school, doesn't come from a God fearing and known God fearing family or you didn't date her before you left for Nigeria? Omo forget it, dem go show you sey Devil pass devil. The Nigerian girls that travelled abroad right after secondary school or went to private uni's in naija are a better choice. All other's are hustlers.

@ All Sincere advocates of ethnic constitution and ethnic recognition, I'll like to ask;

What about the rights of the individual? what if the interests of the sponsors/leaders of my group as -structured by an ethnic based federalism- violates my own sense of individual freedom and liberty?

As a proud and ready Odu'a tokan tokan, I will not hesistate to fight against those who seek to limit my personal liberties under some ethnic considerations, even if their grandfather was Oduduwa's cup bearer.

True individual liberties based on the principles of (home grown) egalitarianism is the way to go IMO.

We can build a nation on that with what we have, or split then worry later, whichever way we go, I believe we won't be satisfied until we embrace individual freedom and liberty regardless of ethinicity, religious beliefs or language.
That will never happen, African's and ethnic group is more than just a simple solution. Our ethnic groups are our identity, that is why we have to find the system of government that works best for us. Who best to represent you than people that share common beliefs and culture with you? Its either we embrace regionalism or split. The african continent should embrace this as i see this is the only way to move forward. Representation at the federal level will be based on population and you have the power to decide who represents you by votes. If you fail to vote and make your voice count than whatever leader you get is your problem. Each region should go back and decide on what is best for them, and then present the formula at the federal level. We have resource control and can adequately manage ourselves. We pay our own legislators and government officials. I think regionalism will be more efficient and will be a better transition to a split. Nigeria is not working as it is.

This is like a chihuahua threatening a pitbull. The chihuahua will get eaten for dinner. Ijaw youth's with their all but how many population want to fight who? They forget the SE has serious beef with them over Biafra, and the North cant wait for the opportunity to do ethnic cleansing on them. They should not bite more than they can chew. Yoruba's will not get involved because they have already gone to overdo themselves by trying to bring their nonsense to the SW. Its best they either call for regionalism or find better ways to solve their issues. If they use violence, they give the big 3 opportunity to tear them apart. They will gladly wipe them out to make the oil rich area no man's land. The big 3 will remove Jonathan and they will not be able to say "pim". What is Jonathan doing about this threat to Nigeria's unity by the way? No one should be allowed to threaten Nigeria, like he warned Atiku, Ijaw Youth's should get the same treatment. cool

this is why single parent homes, especially when the mother is the only parent and is devious, can be a problem. Always look at the quality of the family before you leap into marriage. Forget beauty or money, because at the end of the day they will seem worthless compared to the drama you will face. Its best to stick with families or people you know have values. I am sure OP knew the mother was not straight when he was dating this girl. She is obviously following her mother's footsteps, and you are getting your eye pried open from your previous state of blindness. If you dont take a stand, this is just the beginning. When next you have to choose a bride, you will think and go into it for the right reasons with a long term view in mind.

Nigeria needs to do something about oil companies and countries that use us as a waste dump. Our water is even too dangerous to sniff, including the dirty bottled water we drink daily.I think its time the government respects itself on this issue because no one is exempt or immune from having cancer and it is a sure killer.Bribe is even too costly for cancer.Adieu clara.
