Education › Re: Nigerian Oil Tycoon Donates $1m To US University by texazzpete(m): 11:43pm On Jan 29, 2009
Typical of some Nigerians to want to reap where they did not sow.

His school in the USA (and opportunities in the USA) made him what he is today. Why should he then donate the money to Nigeria?

Dede1:
Why would they allow the court to interject in the dissolution of their marriage? Was this marriage consummated in the court? If the answer is negative, than this is an erosion of traditional responsibilities of the people’s culture.
jamace:
You just took the question out of my mouth. In addition, was this marriage not officially done in the church? If yes, where is the church in this dissolution?
Because wedding registers aren't signed during the church wedding? Or the Nigerian constitution provides for marriage and specific rights to partners due to the aforementioned marriage?

Your comments are pretty daft, i must say.
Politics › Re: Nigeria Constitution Is Invalid, Nigeria Is Invalid, Biafra Govt In Exile Case by texazzpete(m): 5:54pm On Jan 23, 2009
Jeez, this must be the most half-assed, ill-advised and poorly thought out argument i've ever heard in my life.

Biafra exists in the mind of only a disgruntled few who stubbornly cling to the past. Deal with it.

hahahahahahah,
my guy, calm down. the only thing you've sucessfully done is to curse without care. Asides that, you have failed to make any sense.

first, you started by responding to my post without actually reading what i posted. it took me 3 -4 posts to S.P.E.L.L everything out to you before you could (i think) get a hang of what was being said.

secondly, i have a mum whom i respect so much. i will not knowingly disrectpect your mum or anyone's parent. i have gone though my post several times, and i still cant see where i cursed your mum. but guess what, you've gone ahead and said something disrespectful about mine. ko si wahala. mi o binu.

dude, at the age of 31, you should be able to conduct your self in a manner that'd make you look like a mature dude. in this area you have failed woefully.

for future reference son, please read and understand before you spew garbage. if you are not sure, dont be shy to ask for clarification.

se o ti gbo. oloriburuku!
So you don't think that your statement
'does she sleep with Fashola or does she secretly record every statement he makes?'
can be construed as an insult to his mother, abi?

It is true, Fashola want to cleanse lagos of non indegenes. This part of the fall-out of Prof Akin Mabogunje's recommendation. Following the govt failure to get special allocation, it was imperative that some people has to go.

Someday, fashola will discover that he destroys more than he is building.
Why are you guys so keen to read tribalism into everything, even on extremely sketchy information?
Politics › Re: Fashola Shuts Aswani Market by texazzpete(m): 7:59am On Jan 23, 2009
No matter any warnings given to these people, they never relocate. These are illegal structures and they had to have known that they were breaking the law. just because the law has turned a blind eye to them in the past does not make it right.

All you people saying that he should have given them an alternative first are funny. There is no welfare system in place in Nigeria, why should the government use taxpayers money to compensate people who are breaking the law? These people have made profit in the past from lawlessness, should we now reward them?

There is no welfare system in Nigeria. Let taxpayers' monies be used to provide a better environment, a better city with better infrastructure for all.
Politics › Re: Kaduna Nzeogwu Hero Or Villian! by texazzpete(m): 7:50am On Jan 23, 2009
Yeah right. Killing people without warning in cold blood is a sure sign of true heroics, eh?

Dissatisfied armed personnel have long used the excuse of 'curbing corruption' to seize power for himself.
His actions and that of his cohorts set in motion a chain of events that plunged this country not only into civil war, but into millitary rule and a heightened sense of tribalism.

Villain.

@i_laugh, papabrowne
So you pick out four areas to praise and that represents hope in the air abi?

Look, be honest with yourselves. there's no need to go on the warpath here. All that was asked was a logical question. What of the other states in the country?

It's not very smart to equate development in Nigeria with brightly coloured christmas lights and decide that a new airport terminal is a sure sign of development.

It's just like going to ZImbabwe, taking one look at the Presidential Villa and the Rolls Royce cars that the president drives and announce that Zimbabwe is improving.

There are many benchmarks to show the increasingly dire sitationin our country. To ignore important indices like Power generation, quality of interstate roads, rising cost of food and housing is pretty strange.

I live in Port Harcourt and i know how bad the roads can be, how terrible the power situation in my neighbourhood is. I know how bad the traffic jams can get even on the major expressways, and even on sundays.

How do you expect i feel when i have no power, even though i pay millions in taxes and then you folk come up here and castigate people like myself for daring to complain?
How do you expect i feel when you come bragging that Night life i9s booming, while cultists and kidnappers are busy terrorising honest folk like myself?

Next time you come to Nigeria, please travel the benin-lagos road and see for yourself.

@texazzpete, Nice to see another person that has a fully working OSx86. I have Kalyway 10.5.1 dvd and successfully installed on a cloned system. How can I create another boot option for XP without using another drive?
Kalyway didnt work on a Dell latitude d510 and TOshiba satellite pro.
Sorry it's off topic though.
Ok, i'll guess you don't wanna use OSX's darwin bootloader.
You can download EasyBCD and use to add an entry for OSX. I'm not sure the install order you used, i've always installed OSX86 on an XP system.

By the way, i hear the dell inspiron 1525s are pretty good for OSX, i've ordered one to tinker with.

Sorry for going offtopic. . .

Seriously though, that sucks.

nigerians cowards?
when i saw this, the first thing i did was try to confirm my suspicions which is that the phil of a guy must be a diasporian, and true enough he was,i stopped reading after that,
This is a lamentable attitude!

lucabrasi:
nigerians are not cowards, they have to contend with and struggle daily with phcn, water, bad roads, bad leaders, fear of armed robbery e.t.c while th likes of phil are abroad in their comfort zone writing useless articles,if you cannot go to nigeria and stand shoulder to shoulder with these sme nigerians to effect change, then you have not earned any right to call them cowards, after all you are several thousands km away from the reality on ground
You've just proved his point; you've shown that you're so jaded, so used to the rot in society that it does not bother you anymore.

The same challenges we face are what those in Thailand faced. So what's the difference? Courage.
