It was Sunday Adelaja in his book, The Mountain of Ignorance who said: "The great and the mighty that use their assets and power to subjugate people are demonstrating oppression.” Many years down the line, it is still the same old story of a few evil men using the resources at their disposal to thwart the will of the people in Africa. For how long will men of goodwill continue to watch silently while a few powerful lot trample on the masses with reckless abandon? When will African presidents close the doors of greediness and allow the will of the people prevail? As hundreds of thousands of Togolese people - men, women, teenage boys and girls - continue to protest violently over the 50-year brutish rule of the Gnassingbe dynasty, my heart bleeds for the country. More than 20 people have so far died since the protest for the President's resignation started some weeks ago, with the opposition also asking for a constitutional amendment to limit Presidential terms. Just three days ago, people were left in tears after a 10-year-old boy was killed by security operatives during a protest in Lomé with many others seriously injured. Spurred by a desperate bid to cling on to power like his late father, President Faure Gnassingbe (who has been in power since 2005), son of the late dictator Gnassingbe Eyadema unleashed the army and police on the people. Security operatives teargassed, clubbed, headbutted, assaulted and brutalized the people all in a bid to retain Faure in power. Not done, the President cut off internet and social networking access to stop people from reporting the unrest in the country. He also forced foreign journalists out of the country. With all these calculated moves to mute the people, however, the political imbroglio became a confrontation too many for the masses to stomach as they retaliated in a most dangerous way by turning on soldiers in the streets. In fact, the internet was awash with photos of an angry Togolese woman dragging a soldier on the floor 2 weeks ago like a mere goat to the slaughter house after soldiers had reportedly killed seven protesters. His gun was taken away from him as he hopelessly begged for his life. The history of the Gnassingbe family and its tasteless rule that spanned half a century is a disaster that stunted the growth of the region leaving 72% of Togo's rural population below the poverty line (on less than 2U$/day), making it one of the world's poorest countries in the world, according to a World Bank report. With a population of just over 6million, many had thought that Togo would evolve as a leading industrial nation due to the abundance of natural resources at the country's disposal. The history of Togo is littered with chapters of chapters of deep frustration fueled by the dictatorial and greedy instinct of one man whose thirst for power saw him massacre hundreds of his political rivals. Gnassingbe Eyadema, father of Faure Gnassingbe (the incumbent President of Togo) was among the military men who led the first military coup in West Africa that killed President Sylvanus Olympio in 1963. Shortly after that in 1967, he led another coup as a Colonel forcefully removing President Nicolas Grunitzky to install himself as the President, a position he held for 38 awful years before his sudden demise in 2005 onboard a plane 250 km south of Tunis, Tunisia. During his 38-year reign, Eyadema plundered the wealth and resources of his people and was reported to be worth millions of dollars. After pocketing the military, he used the Togolese army to commit heinous crimes against the civilian population and perceived political enemies. One of such case is what happened on the 30th of January 1993, when elements of the military went on an 8-hour rampage throughout Lomé, firing indiscriminately and killing at least 12 people. This incident provoked more than 300,000 Togolese to flee Lomé for Benin, Ghana, or the interior of Togo. A chilling report by UNICEF shows that the country bordered by Ghana to the west, Benin to the East and Burkina Faso to the North is one of the poorest in the world. Ostensibly, Togolese people live below the poverty line (on less than 2U$/day) even with the country's enormous natural resources. The impact of the dictatorial rule has resulted in deterioration of social amenities, increased poverty and inability of the government to provide basic services for its people. While the Gnassingbe family and the political elite in the country enjoyed a lavish lifestyle, the common man wallowed in abject poverty. There is high illiteracy level in the country because parents can't afford to send their children to school due to extreme poverty. Many children are forced to work in exploitative and dangerous conditions just to survive. One in eight children will not reach its fifth birthday, according to a report by UNICEF. The report further added that only 38 percent of the population live in urban areas, making the majority of the population rural. A shocking 82 percent of the rural population live in poverty. Due to extreme poverty, many children in the country suffer severe hunger and malnutrition; most do not have access to clean water. Many of the children are forced to drop out of school to help support their families. Yet, a particular family has held sway at the top for 50 years without anything good to offer the people. What a curse! The need to come to the aid of a psychologically impoverished people of Togo and salvage them from the shackles of a greedy political elite whose desire for power has led to the loss of innocent lives is now. There is no better time to act than now! Apart from human rights violations, the Gnassingbe dynasty has over time emasculated the people of Togo by denying them the good things of life. Without mincing words, it is absolutely evil for a family to continue ruling a country with severe opposition from the people for 50 years now and the world folds its arms watching the evil fester. The Gnassingbes have been using the instrument of the state to clamp down on the people revolting against the 'witchcraft' government of Faure. The Togolese army as a whole is a slap on the face of the people. The soldiers who have over the years left their constitutionally-guaranteed position - to secure the territorial integrity of the country - and instead chose to become errand boys of the Gnassingbe family must be gathered together, castrated and banished from the Togo. For allowing itself become a thing of caricature in the hands of the Gnassingbes, a total purging of the army by way of compulsory retirement of the senior officers must be initiated to eliminate sympathisers who served during the period of this obvious political anomaly. All Gnassingbe’s political allies who participated in government must be given same music to dance, starting with the removal of President Faure Gnassingbe. The international community - UN, EU, AU, ECOWAS - must as a matter of urgency pour hot pressure on Faure Gnassingbe to resign. It is time to end his family's stronghold on the country. This is no more time to fold arms; the people of Togo have suffered enough. The injustice and oppression from the government now using the army and police to clamp down on protesters is an aberration that must be checkmated before it is too late. The killing of innocent people protesting the reign of an illegitimate government must be stopped and those responsible brought to book. Let it not be that the world will watch silently again while impunity and the greed of a few who want to die in power overcome the call of the masses for justice. I call on all men of goodwill to support the masses in Togo as they navigate through this political quagmire to a strong and robust democratic landscape that is participatory and all-encompassing, tailored at bringing dividends of democracy to the people. We must all join hands and end dictatorship in Africa and install a system that respects the right of the people with a responsible army loyally protecting the country instead of individuals. The will of the people must prevail. The constitution must be followed to the letter and any manipulation must be visited with severe consequences against perpetrators. As the breeze of democratic tenets spread across the continent, those rejected by the masses must never be allowed to impose their wishes on the people by force. The people of Togo have suffered enough. It is time we all join hands and support them to swim out of this murky waters of political enslavement. *** Alexander Thandi Ubani writes from Lagos. Many people have blamed the massacre of innocent worshippers that took place two weeks ago at St. Phillip’s Catholic Church, Ozubulu in Anambra state to the shenanigans of drug dealers and their alleged intercourse with religious leaders in the state. According to the police, the massacre was as a result of disaffection in the camp of two powerful sons of Ozubulu community living outside the country identified as Chief Aloy Nnamdi Ikegwuonu, Akuchinyere Nwata 1 (aka Bishop 1 of Ozubulu) and Chinedu Akpunonu (aka Obrocho). In fact, Ikegwuonu is alleged to have built three churches in the area including the Catholic Church where the massacre took place. A report by Vanguard revealed that the quarrel between the two sons of Ozubulu residing in South Africa was caused by suspicion among them over failure to keep to business deals. The two extremely rich sons of Ozubulu are alleged to be drug dealers and have perfected the act of competing and showing off their riches in the community before the sad encounter that claimed many lives at the church. One of them is said to be a popular philanthropist with numerous people on his payroll and many others on scholarship. The disagreement which started way back in South Africa was because one person reneged on a business deal forcing the other person to send assassins in revenge. So, the assassins after being briefed that their target was in the community went after him but to their chagrin, he was nowhere to be found. What they did know was that he got a hint of the plan and left a day earlier, according to reports in the media. So when the gunmen invaded the church two weeks ago, they went straight for the target's father who was at the church that early morning and shot him dead. However, they didn't let him take the fall alone so the assassins unleashed mayhem on the innocent church members killing more than 12 of them and leaving many others seriously injured. Since the incident happened 2 weeks ago, the police is yet to arrest the killers of the innocent church members. What have we learnt so far? Whether the culprits are caught or not, this incident has exposed the flawed nature of our religious centres all over the country. Will we remain silent waiting for yet another of this type of attack to happen before we take the bull by the horn? No! It has become pertinent at this time for all religious leaders to take the issue of security of lives and properties of their members more seriously. They must as a matter of urgency add security features in all their places of worship. Apart from building road/house barriers, they must install close circuit cameras, alarms, security lights etc which can be used to prevent and possibly nab criminals after a crime has been committed. Posting of armed security personnels to churches will not be a bad idea as it is obvious worshippers are no longer safe in places that should be seen as sacrosanct even to the most vile soul. All over the country, it is still the same sad story especially in the northern part of Nigeria. Many lives have been lost to suicide attacks carried out by members of the dreaded terrorist group Boko Haram at churches in the north. They have succeeded mostly because of a policy of laxity and nonconformance in our worship centres. Yet, religious leaders have not found it worthy to restructure the way churches and other places of worship are built to make it difficult for such evil souls to penetrate. Instead of expending too much energy talking about the need for tithe, religious leaders must as a matter of urgency make safety a paramount feature of their places of worship. It is no more funny that churches that are supposed to be sacred places of worship have become the playground where hideous murders are committed. The safety of worshippers should be most paramount in all places of worship as dead bodies do not praise God. They must find every means possible to avoid making the church a place where the blood of the innocent are spilled by vicious men who have no fear of God in them. In retrospect, the relationship between the church and the principal actors in this ugly incident must be reviewed in a holistic manner. The activities of the church and its financial relations calls for serious questioning. Churches as a matter of urgency must stop affiliating itself with people of questionable character. It must stop catching every penny thrown at it by people who have through dubious means made money or those whose sources of income are questionable. The church must activate a check procedure to help it filter those that are not in good standing with the society who disguise as philanthropists to gain access to the church as an enclave to hide and continue their nefarious activities. The principal actors in this ugly and tragic incident are alleged to have made their money through illegal means. They are very well known and influential people in the community as such, it will not be too difficult to ascertain their sources of income if pursued. Not only are they pompous, they are known for showing up at parties and other ceremonies spraying millions to showoff their wealth, according to reports. It pains me that the church did not for once deem it fit to consider what it would cost it by associating with such people of questionable disposition which would have prevented the loss of innocent lives in this tragic manner. It is now crystal clear to all that mixing religion with politics and tussle for power is a dangerous game which as we have seen is capable of consuming the lives of innocent people who are not players of the game. Churches all over the country have a bad reputation of dining with politicians, thieves, looters and criminals for cheap financial favours. Here and there people who have been convicted and known to have stolen from the country are given front seats at churches. These criminal-minded people donate millions of naira, build churches, buy cars and jets for the men of God who in turn become mute so as not to annoy their benefactors. Due to such impunity, the religious leaders cannot question the obvious lapses in character which they might have noticed so as not to lose their sources of income. This has made it possible for the church to become the new hideout for criminals, looters, drug Lords, killers, rapists and ritualists who take up different responsibilities in the church in order to appear guilt-free in the eyes of men. What a shame! How on earth did we reach this level of murdering people inside a church which ordinarily is unheard of? The Insecurity in the country is indeed alarming. Men of the Nigeria police must wake up from their slumber. It is not a rumour to say that since time immemorial, the men of the Nigeria police have been very disappointing in safeguarding the lives and properties of Nigerians. Instead, the policemen in Nigeria are good at harassing, taking bribes and running after the rich people in the society, even worshipping them as gods. The core job of securing lives has been bastardized by officers who are not only greedy but wicked. Sadly, that contributes to the high rate of criminality in the land. It is over 2 weeks since the incident, nothing tangible has been heard from the police. We hope this case will not die a natural death as we have witnessed in other cases in the past. The Insecurity in the land is worrisome. As we complain about the police, Nigerians must learn to work with security operatives by providing necessary intelligence as at when due. This can be done by reporting suspicious faces to security operatives for prompt action. There are many lessons to learn from this ugly church encounter. Community leaders must ensure that their people are safe and secure by setting up vigilantes to augment the effort of the police. No longer shall we allow evil monsters who are fighting a battle we do not know about to take the lives of our dear ones before our very eyes. Enough is enough. -Alexander Thandi Ubani is an Editor with tori.ng. He writes from Lagos. Source: http://www.tori.ng/news/70852/ozubulu-massacre-and-the-lessons-we-learnt-by-alex.html

I agree with you. Policemen are fond of that especially in Lagos. They feel intimidated when they see successful young men and will stop at nothing to tag them 'yahoo-boys'. They are just pathetic. A few of them are good, though. freddywells81: |

It was a dramatic encounter for me yesterday afternoon (Saturday) at Oshodi under the pedestrian bridge. I had as usual taken my camera to get some shots and a taste of street photography. I had planned to write an article about some of the things happening there. I had also planned to catch up with my friend, Samuel Leusman who was performing one of his poems at a poetry event in Yaba. Little did I know that the gods had other sad plans for me. After alighting just before the bridge at Oshodi, I sauntered down the corners under the bridge, taking photos of places I fancied, what I didn't know was that one unruly police officer and his Lagos sanitation colleague have been positioned to make my day a hellish one. I took different pictures from the bridge, the railway tracks, traffic gridlock and the ever mammoth crowd for which the area is known. For close to 30 minutes, I watched with rapt attention observing how people who refused to take the pedestrian bridge but opted to cross the road by foot were caught and held by their trousers by Lagos sanitation officers wearing plain white polos and brown trousers. I was struck by an ugly incident playing before my very eyes. I noticed with total dismay how the sanitation officers were patronising the women who crossed the road by foot instead of using the bridge. It dawned on me that when the sanitation officers -of which 98% are men- seize women crossing the road by foot, they allow them to go scot-free unlike their male counterpart. I couldn't understand what the officers were doing initially, but then I realized that the women could be giving the officers 'unmentioned' favours as I discovered they interacted in hushed voices. Before my eyes, more than two women who crossed the road in flagrant disobedience to the law were allowed to go scot-free without being dragged, shoved or even pushed by the obviously randy sanitation officers. I wondered why the officers were treating the women in a different manner. Are the laws gender-based now? I wasn't happy inside me as I thought of what will become of the men who were caught crossing the road instead of using the pedestrian bridge. I watched the loneliness in their eyes from afar as they are pushed, shoved and forcefully tucked into the back of a van that looked like a 'black Maria' where the only thing you could see are heads and tiny legs. Many stayed in the van for hours without being allowed any communication with those outside. I looked at the poor souls and felt sad. Is there not a specific part of the law which stipulated the punishment for such an offence - like say a fine - instead of forcefully throwing grownups into the back of a van? What stupid country does that! There is no sign warning against crossing the road by foot, which should be the standard right thing to do. As a result, many people who are new to the place always fall victim. I couldn't take photos because my camera battery had drained. In the brouhaha playing out before me, I noticed the rain drizzling. But, I stood still without moving before I decided to bring out my phone. I switched on the camera and began recording the sad event I had witnessed. I had concluded in my mind to write about the partiality of the system and the disturbing attitude of the sanitation officers. Not long have I started recording when a cold voice echoed from my back. It was that of a sanitation officer querying me. Before I could say jack, the cretin snatched my phone and helloed a police officer standing near the police car to arrest me. I protested asking what gave him the audacity for such inglorious act. I followed him to the police officer, a certain Adebayo Taiwo who by all standard should never be allowed to wear the police uniform owing to his goatish manners. Taiwo asked me to identify myself, of which I told him the obvious - that I am a journalist. He asked for an identity card. I tried searching for it but didn't see my ID in the bag. I had misplaced it. There was no excuse why I forgot my ID at home, which I explained to the police officer and opted to provide another means of identification. Moreover, I have never heard where an ID is needed for one to snap photos or record an incident. Howbeit, I probed my bag and found my driver's licence which I tendered for identification. The officer said I had no right to take shots and video activities under the pedestrian bridge. I demanded to know why and which part of the law such was written. It was a rude shock when the officer ruffled my cloth and clutched on it demanding that I must follow him to the other side of the bridge, there was another police officer. That idea hit me like the stench of tobacco, so I seriously rebuffed it and stood my ground stating that I will not move an inch if he doesn't read out the offence I committed. By this time, the senseless sanitation officer tried to drag me by the trouser, I smacked his hands off my trouser. The erratic police officer joined him, dragged my polo and tore it. I was livid and demanded from the officer what was the cause of such stupid act from him. I shouted at him. He threatened to beat me up. I was upset and began shouting at him the more why he would want to drag me to a place I know not about when I did not commit any offence. As this was happening, another police officer by Taiwo's side quietly observing the scenario told Taiwo to take things easy. Taiwo came at me and said he will deal with me. He threatened me the more saying he will show me that I am a small boy. I told Taiwo that he will buy me a new polo after he tore the one I was wearing. He was still barking and threatening to deal with me. I told him that it is because of men like him that ordinary Nigerians see the police as the enemy. How can a police officer be ignorant of the law as to not know when a citizen has committed an offence? Eventually, a senior police officer called us over, still at the bridge where Taiwo explained what happened. When he asked me to explain, he was so absent-minded and busy talking to someone but insisted that I continue with my explanation. I finished, he said I should be taken to the office to write a statement. I still insisted that my torn polo must be replaced. I entered the police car with Taiwo and two other police officers. Inside the car, Taiwo threatened to smash my Ipad when he saw me typing with it; I told him he can't dare and he threatened to beat me up. I threatened not to let the matter die and do a story about it as I accused him of not knowing the law which makes what he is doing a mockery. I had highlighted as we rode in the car that his responsibility at the bridge should be to maintain law and order and not to harass innocent and law abiding citizens of Nigeria. At the police office, the idiotic Taiwo calmed down as he led me through the office corridors before we met some senior police officers as the ritual of re-telling what happened continued, he still did not mention what offence I committed. I shouted at him why he would embarrass, assault, harass and intimidate me when I know my right and haven't committed any crime. I was obviously angry at the station. I was told to write a statement which I did and the irresponsible police officer, Taiwo had disappeared in the process. As I sat inside one of the police offices watching the news being read, a fatherly senior police officer started talking to me about the incident between me and Taiwo. Obviously, he had seen Taiwo's wrong. That was the first time it hit me that among the bad eggs which Taiwo and a majority of Nigerian police officers belonged to, there are still good ones. The fatherly police officer who should be in his 50s looked at me and told me to calm down. He told me a story about his son, about the need to forgive and forget when people do you wrong. He said everything must not end in a fight. That what happened was a misunderstanding and I should let it go. He said I should try and contain my anger in some situations. He narrated how a woman had bashed his car and condemned the bumper. As is with police officers in Nigeria, when such an incident happens, they always try to 'show themselves'. But, this fatherly police officer told me that he's not that kind of person. He repaired his car which cost him a lot of money. Even when his son recommended he teach the woman a lesson, he talked him out of it. The fatherly police officer also told me that as is the norm with many police officers in Lagos not to pay money when they enter buses in Lagos, he is different because he tries as much as possible not to even allow commuters know that he's a police officer as he doesn't want wahala. I'd never seen such a sensible, fatherly and a most wonderful police officer ever in my life. It was an eye-opener for me as I learnt that every police officer can't be the same. Taiwo is a total misfit that should never be seen near a police uniform - a ticking timebomb. He is one police officer who does not know that his duty is to protect law abiding citizens not to threaten and harass them. He is given to intimidate and threaten people who challenge his malnourished police mind. I agree that his poor educational background is an impediment, but he must be warned before his injudiciousness gets out of hand. I was still at the police office when the fatherly police officer told me to calm down and let it slide. He asked one of the female police officers to take me to their warehouse for a change of cloth. We couldn't find anything befitting so she took some money as we went to the market and bought me a new polo. The female police officer took my torn cloth even as I begged her to take a photo of me wearing the torn polo -for memory sake- she refused and said that as a journalist she knows what I'm capable of doing. I gave up. Handed her the torn polo and wore the new one. She handed my phone and driver's licence to me and bade me farewell. As I was leaving the police premises, the fatherly police officer who in my understanding is an asset and the best image for the Nigeria police -a man who told me that many times he entered a public bus, people stepped on his toes and still make trouble even daring him to do his worst. But he will be the one to plead with the offender just to end the matter. How many police officers can do that? Most of his colleagues would pounce on such an individual and bundle him or her to the police station just to showoff that they are members of the Nigeria police. Such a pity what the police has become!! His story calmed my nerves. That's a wonderful father figure. In all the troubles, I was very grateful to have met such an exceptional police officer. We exchanged numbers, hugged him and I left the police premises. Such wisdom from him, I said to myself as I strolled along the road. Although my day was ruined by a nitwit junior police officer named Taiwo and his half-baked sanitation counterpart, I was too grateful to have met the fatherly police officer. I end this piece on a glad note knowing that not all policemen are bad. The good and reasonable ones still exist but most of them are not out there but in their offices. The ones that patrol our roads have had their brains cooked by its wretchedness so much so that they no longer understand the purpose for which they were recruited. Police officers should know that their primary assignment is to protect law abiding citizens and avoid any unnecessary confrontation. I call on the Lagos state government to set up a committee to monitor the activities of its sanitation officers. Their overzealous attitude, gender partiality and a wanton desire to harass innocent individuals is a slap on our faces. That is not what they are employed to do. I have my eyes on them and I will bring their activities to the fore - good and bad. I saw them engage in malpractices yesterday. The Oshodi under bridge stinks like hell. The environment is an eyesore, but sanitation officers would rather prey on innocent citizens waiting to pounce on, victimize and extort money from them. There is no sign anywhere to say 'USE THE PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE' which should be the first thing there if crossing the road on foot is an offence! It is stupid of the government to extort its citizens knowingly without first posting a warning sign for all to see. The Lagos state government must do the right thing! -Alexander Thandi Ubani is an Editor with tori.ng. He writes from Lagos.

#IStandWithDNA: Rich Female Zenith Bank Manager Wanted Me to Impregnate Her - Nigerian Man Narrates Shocking Story A Nigerian man by name, Mark Anthony Osuchukwu has narrated how he escaped the claws of a married Zenith Bank Manager in Onitsha who wanted him to impregnate her because the woman's husband is reportedly ugly. According to Osuchukwu, the woman had wanted him to impregnate her because she was desirous of having handsome and goodlooking kids. He bluntly refused the Hot woman's advances while wondering what such a woman is capable of doing at her husband's back. Osuchukwu made the revelation as a result of the ongoing battle on social media on whether married men should demand for DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) tests for their kids as infidelity among married people increases daily. Osuchukwu revealed that he overcame the woman's evil advances with the help of his father. He wrote: "#3070. Dear men, be careful. Very careful please. Know who you want to marry. This DNA trends is making me very sober although I'm trying to shake it off by joking about it. Years ago, I was 17 going on 18. I went to a certain Zenith bank in Onitsha to deposit money for my father. A woman who I would later know to be the branch manager called me, made me her friend and asked for my number. I gave her. She would call me all night and day. When I have time to waste, I pick. When I don't, I dance to my ring tone. To cut long story short, one Saturday, she invited me to her branch. I went with all my clean heart and chest. She began to speak languages I don't understand. I was only 17. A church boy that wants to go to heaven by all means. She said : "I want you to impregnate me. My husband is not fine. I want my kids to look like you" She promised me plenty money. In millions. I grew jittery. I was scared and was moved to tears. She pulled me close and tried to cuddle me sounding like a motivational speaker. I told her that I'll get back to her. I left, went home and told my daddy. I got a new sim card and she never disturbed. I ran into her last year in Lagos. She still wants a baby from me. Tho married to a big man. Dear people, the times are evil. Be wary! Don't break a family because of your horniness. Please! Mr banks!" Source: http://www.tori.ng/news/64327/istandwithdna-rich-female-zenith-bank-manager-want.html

Shocking New Tactics Police Officers Are Using to Arrest and Extort Money From Innocent Nigerians - Naval Officer Reveals Kolapo Orowale shared the sad incident involving his brother who was wrongly arrested and thrown into police cell A Naval officer with the Nigerian Navy has narrated an ugly incident in which his younger brother was picked up by some police officers and thrown into a police cell. Kolapo Orowale who narrated the incident is now crying out for justice. The policemen in Lagos are accused of stopping innocent people on the road and bundling them inside their vans without any explanation, then dump them inside cells if the victims refuse to give them money. The eye-popping encounter he narrated shows the unprofessional manner the police, who are supposed to be the custodians of law and justice have turned themselves into extorters and petty thieves. Kolapo narrated that his brother was bundled and driven to a police station where he was thrown into the cell for wearing 'red face cap and red flat shoe'. His phone taken away from him and even his offence was not mentioned. It was also gathered that while his brother was being taken to the police station, other innocent people were also picked on the road for no just reason and taken to the police station. Imagine the fate of those innocent people wrongly arrested and thrown into police cells without their family members knowing their whereabouts because of corrupt police officers who have not iota of responsibility and shame for the important role they play in the society. The case of Kolapo's brother is different because he has someone to fight for him. What then is the fate of the innocent others who were randomly picked on the road and thrown into cells? How can the Nigerian police allow its men commit such impunity without being reprimanded. Read Kolapo's sad story below with the title 'Who Facebook Epp?': "WHO FACEBOOK EPP? All my plans today was to have a good rest, I've been busy all through the holiday. I met my brother at home this morning when he dressed up to go pick a little cousin in abeokuta. Fine, tall slim Boy, he wore a short 3quarter Jean, a shirt to match, a red face cap and a red fine flat sole shoe.. I wanted to have some words with him but he escaped it and left home for his journey. I took my bath and left for Chukky's place, I was almost at his house when dad called. Truthfully, we were both against his going to Abeokuta, my mind jumped at his call and all my thoughts was "accident" Dad asked if I was closer to the house and I said No, and I asked what the problem was. He didn't tell until I called him back the third time. Then he said "your brother is in the police station". My mind flew off, I told the bike man to turn back, I thought of going to the station in mufti but i rebuffed the thoughts cos I know how those people can be useless that I might spend the night in one of their cells if I ain't careful. I rushed back home, I changed to uniform even though my dad didn't want me to, I explained my last ordeal with those people to him and how they threatened to lock me up if I wasn't on uniform. I got to the station past 12 or thereabout, I went straight to the SARS department and I sighted him sitting with 5 other young boys. Dad did the greeting while I stood and looked, wondering what he could have done wrong. The woman explained he was picked on the road. I wanted to question him, she didn't allow and we should wait for the patrol team that picked him up. I met some of the family members of the other boys and I stood somewhere around waiting for this people. My dad contacted some of his police friends in that station and all of them backed out stylishly (typical Nigerian police attitude). I knew he was picked up because of his dressing of color red but I still wasn't too sure. I still managed to question the boys in 10seconds when the police lady stepped out and they told me none of them did anything wrong. I got bored and angry after three hours of waiting, then I contacted Olawepo my new police friend on facebook here. He calmed me down and made several calls on my behalf, the lady corporal he directed me to was a bit helpful but still there was no result. Then later on, I realised my bro arrested is just 17 years old and a juvenile, I needed some few advice from a lawyer on how to go about it and even press charges. Then I made a post about a lawyer and some reasonable friends responded well and I got results.. (you know yourselves, I am very grateful). I contacted Olakunle too, through our interactions on facebook, he sounds much more educated, matured and different among all policemen on this facebook and whenever there is an issue against them, he will never get angry other than apologize. I inboxed him the same message I sent to the lawyers and he responded immediately by calling me on messenger which I later saw. I put off my data at a certain time and when I put it back on, I saw his message with his number telling me to call him which I did. After explaining the station I was and the situation to him, he started making calls and directed me to meet the lady corporal. After an hour, he called again and asked me to ask for the area commander and go to his office and when I get there, I should explain my problem to him. I went to the area commander's office and I met a man at the reception, and as he heard I was instructed to come there from Abuja, he stood up and called the SARS patrol team immediately. Then he followed me to see my brother where he was and we interrogated him briefly. He was stopped on bike a little distance from our bus stop at gun point, they forced him into the vehicle and drove him round before heading to the station at last. They collected his phone and told him not to contact anybody. 6 people were picked along the road, 5 people before him. He got a phone from one of the guys to call dad. The remaining 5 wrote statement and my brother didn't, why they didn't give him a statement form still surprises me. After waiting for the SARS patrol team for 4 hours 30mins, I got angry and I called Mr Olawepo again, he still told me to maintain my calmness. Arresting the boys wasn't my problem anymore, keeping them without documentation of any statement was pissing me off. Those who made the arrest are supposed to stay around till the family comes. Later I overheard the lady in charge of them telling someone she will move them to the cell if the patrol team doesn't come back my 6pm. My head sparked and I barked at her and everyone, he is a 17 year old and the police has no right to lock him up for any reason, and I furthermore told them that they would rather lock us both and that I won't allow him sleep in any cell till they tell me what he did exactly. After I demanded to see the Commander again, the desk man didn't allow me go in as he suspected trouble already, he dialled the patrol team number and they picked finally. He told them who I was and who I came to bail out. He didn't say much words to me, I watched him enter the room they kept the boys, gave the lady there the phone and in 15mins my brother was out.. What they arrested him for I still don't know. He told me they asked him for money and he told them he doesn't have so he hid the money on him in his shoe. As we stepped out of the station, the patrol team were on their way in and they saw me as I bounced out of the station with my brother. They just stared in surprise and as usual, they caught some new boys to join the other 5 I left there." The story has opened the eyes of many people to the tragedy called the Nigerian police and how innocent people are labeled criminals just to be extorted and exploited by those who are supposed to be their protectors. The Inspector-General of Police has been challenged by well-meaning Nigerians to call his men to order, arrest and prosecute corrupt police officers involved in such image-damaging operations to serve as deterrent to others. source: http://www.tori.ng/news/59544/shocking-new-tactics-police-officers-are-using-to.html

Some people got an eyeful recently after a beautiful big girl ran mad and and began walking on the streets totally n*ked while clutching her expensive handbag. It was alleged that the girl suddenly became mad after leaving a hotel she had visited her man friend. Narrating the story on Facebook, someone wrote: "A very unfortunate incident! "This video is about a lady who was invited into an hotel for whatever reason. At the end of the function, as she was leaving the hotel, she suddenly became mad and undressed herself. "A serious lesson for nowadays ladies, particularly aristoes (yoyo-ladies). They should be careful of whom and where they visit. "May God continue to protect us all, against these evil minded and desperate people." The incident forced a crowd to gather while watching the drama play out. She was later helped by a group of young men who covered her n*kedness and got her help. source: http://www.tori.ng/news/55008/drama-as-beautiful-big-girl-runs-mad-and-walks-the.html

To my beautiful lady in white Omalicha, my beautiful lady in white I write you with an ink from the lush part of my heart Since I tasted a sight of you, I've been left famished With an insatiable desire to feast on your alluring face My body has become a house of worldly cravings You are a bundle of joy, gorgeous like Uloaku Just a smile from you turns my world around I, a grown man giggles like a happy newborn baby My worries become dust and vanish beyond here You make me happy with that look in your eyes You are mesmeric like a sprouting colourful kenaf That has been pampered by life's sweet cuddles Soft and dainty like a richly tendered ebony skin I see you in my mind's eyes each minute that passes You've filled every space in my soul with your charm If I could lose my senses for once, it would be for you Your name I will tattoo all over my body just to show off Each part of my skin I shall write down your good deeds When dreams are no more dreams And love looks like a safe open door I want to walk into the room of your heart And decorate all your walls with radiant kisses For I have decided to find happiness in your eyes. I have been using Tecno Droipad 8 for over 5 months now and I have not experienced any problem. If you really bought the phone at any of the Slot offices, I don't know why you should come here to complain when you can actually give them back the phone and change it with another or you can take it to them to work on the phone since Slot has repairs section. I don't understand how you could buy same Droipad 8 when the one you have been using for a while has been faulty - who does that?, especially when you know you could easily change it for another with your receipt. The best you can do is to return it and get another one from Slot if actually, that's where you bought it. Your story doesn't pan out well. |
wow, see ice cream love. Nice concept. |
Whoever wrote that headline must be a dunce. NTV discredited the photos and not the statement. The two presenters were sacked, but the pictures being circulated are not of the staff involved in the drama. Simple englsh, ha!!

Bad breath, medically called halitosis, can result from poor dental health habits and may be a sign of other health problems. Bad breath can also be made worse by the types of foods you eat and other unhealthy lifestyle habits, as defined by WebMD. Here are the easiest tips to tackle this good breath killer. 1. The easiest way to treat bad breath is to brush your teeth after each meal. This is because leftover food particles if left to stay are the causes of bad breath. After each meal, endeavour to brush your teeth. More so, pay regular attention to your tongue. Brush it very well. Bacteria form on the tongue if it is not taken care of to cause odor. 2. There are herbs and mouth fresheners to help those who can’t brush after each meal. Chew aromatic herbs or gum and lookout for mouth fresheners and mints to keep the mouth busy. It can help especially ones with no sugar. 3. Water, water and more water is good for your breath. Drinking water helps keep the tongue and body hydrated. Drinking water regularly will help you tackle bad breath. 4. Always remember to change your brush. When your brush is long overdue for change and can no longer scrub the tongue or brush the teeth perfectly, it is time for change. Change it for a new one and brush better to chase that bad breath away. 5. Finally, fruits like apple, vegetables, lettuce, carrots etc can help you fight bad breath. These foods serve as natural cleaning machine to the mouth as it contains vitamins and antioxidants to help the mouth fight bacteria. With these five steps holistically followed, you will eliminate that bad breath and mouth odour in no time. If this doesn't work, please do well to see your dentist. Many people are taken unawares when their partners cheat on them because they have not paid attention to some of the signs exhibited by the cheating mate before they cheat. Take hold of your relationship with these tips. It is very true that before a partner cheats, his/her attitude can reflect her immediate plans. Here are Signs your man will cheat on you. 1. A deep strain in marriage/relationship: A man who is under intense relationship pressure or fracture might easily be lured into cheating. Keep your eyes open. A deep strain in a relationship could be the spring that might force him into developing amorous desires with another person. 2. If you've cheated before: If you've cheated on your married partner, there is a 90% chance that he might cheat on you. Most do it to get even with their partners. But in most cases, some don't. 3. He does not value you and you make him feel less important: You fight, shout and insult each other all the time. When a man places less value on a woman, it comes easy to do wrong without thinking of the consequences. When a man is less valued, he seeks the help of an outsider to fulfil such void. Most men do it. He feels like no one cares. 4. Unnecessarily spends more time outside after work: In this case, the person most times can not explain questions about his whereabouts. Elizabeth Landers and Vicky Mainzer Authors of the new book "The Script: 100% Absolutely Predictable Things Men Do When They Cheat" termed it 'The Vanishing Act'. Some people explore this option to cook up romantic escapades with the opposite sex. Research has shown that most people who feign the 'more time at work' might be cheating with a colleague or be using such spare hours for romantic dates. If you do not do something about it, he might cheat anytime.
