Your company has been doing well ever since until you both authored and caused the problem yet your friend is the mastermind. They (your company) never reasoned such would even happen, and now the company is about to face great deals of unprecedented crises that it takes only a miraculous intervention to counter such happenstance.

In the heat of the dreadful moment, you are torn in between and are in the middle of the devil and the deep blue sea that moment standing in front of the dreadful managerial complaints, shouting and querying that would soon cost you your job. You are put under so much intense pressure and at the heel of covering your coworker's or colleague's very expensive mistake who is the so called mastermind, in the heat of the moment. This becomes a time you can't think carefully. Would you rather lose your job to cover him/her up? Would you take blame or defend yourself to keep your job?

What would you even do?

It all has to do with patency.

I really don't know the Nigerian law when it comes to filing for patency. But patency in other countries especially in the US are really protected by law.

You're safe if you have the money to register a patent.

I am not trying to sound discouraging but POS business is very saturated and competitive. That's why I have to ask do you have a unique selling point, a strategy or something that distinguishes you from your competitors? Else you'll find out the competitors around you has the more lead than you do. I am trying to say now that have you considered the viability? But you can always give it a try if you're starting small. The odds may be in your favor.

Just any advise at all.
Everything depends on what you really want.

Most especially, no one can decide whether you need shareholders or not. It's your choice to sell your company's stock not anybody's decision to make for you. Instead, you might say you need a financial advisor

Perosnally, I watch movies but not so much of being fanatic. Are you even familiar with the Squid Game movie? Now my reasons for asking....

OP really tried by applying the Squid Game theme and costume color to his project . Those shapes inclusive likewise. So, somehow he has scored some points for that plus his technical application of those data.

I won't say your judgement is lacking the evidence that it needs but it has to be foolproof to win OPs understanding. It's okay... I am not OP! Only in his shoes but would still consider your judgement and recommendation. Lol.

Perhaps what you could have added to your comment is that he has to fine tune and have some tweakings done to it.

My oh my.... I guess I juxtaposed, too. I was referring to .slice() not .splice() then using the .length to collect the amount of string character.
ProgrammingRe: Can Someone Help Me With With This Javascript Exercise Please by thanksjosh005: 5:11pm On Jun 13, 2022
The author of this thread might need to clarify his post to get a suitable answer. We understand when you say: "Pls I just need explanation on number 2 only" but you also went on to say:

"I can only get the length of the first sentence but I can't get the length of the first"

What you're are asking for is not clear enough or juxtaposed but I just want to assume it's a typo and you mean second instead of first @ the bolded.

However, you can use the .splice () method and collect the length of the entire character when you output your code. The .splice() is another kind of procedure to achieve your result. I know different programmers have different procedures. So there are various ways you can achieve what you're asking for.
ProgrammingI Think I Have A Say.... by thanksjosh005(op):
I think I have a say concerning all the "I hired a developer only to get scammed" claims and the clients who truly are victims. I'm actually in no befitting position (and neither am I an expert in such cases as these) to actually be talking about a "solution". But this is more of what the hirer or client actually can do to prevent and escape those heart-touching stories.

There's been lots of name-dragging and the intention to maul another person's personal brand... the spite isn't enough. But maybe some of them got it because they truly deserved it. There are actually some who don't.

So if you're a hirer and you're seeking a developer on this cyber environment to build a product or go on a project for you then what are your approach for doing so? Let's begin here.

Already, you might be someone unsure of who you are hiring and sending your hard-earned money to. But your approach is way very important.

One would only imagine a hirer coming to a platform like Nairaland and asking a developer to contact them or worse still, in this manner, leave their contact here for the developer.

Even though the hirer finds the right person fit for the job who gets the work done, chances are these hirers are more or less likely to repeat the same blunders. And, asking if the developer has some recent works just to feel confident in whom you hired may just not be enough. That's why I have my best practices:

-Does the developer has a portfolio?
-Is their portfolio an instance of someone I can really get to know and work with?
-Does their portfolio score my very own personal assessment & requirements?
-Is their portfolio legit and original or I'm just being played?
-If so, do I have to pass on this developer and look into/compare another?

These are but a few. The idea here is the portfolio. The developer you're asking for should own a portfolio. This should be your go-to to get the job professionally done. Though, just to be clear, I am not in any way trying to say the developer without a portfolio is no fit for the job. But what's the use of being professional without a portfolio?

Wikipedia defines it very suitably and even used full quotes:

Professionalization is a social process by which any trade or occupation transforms itself into a true "profession of the highest integrity and competence."
Read more here on Wikipedia

And the term is being contested. Wiki explains thus that "Professionalization tends to result in establishing acceptable qualifications, one or more professional associations to recommend best practice and to oversee the conduct of members of the profession, and some degree of demarcation of the qualified from unqualified amateurs"

As a hirer or a potential client/customer to the developer you'll be getting hired for your project, you have to take some necessary measure or go some length if you don't want to be defrauded and disappointed in the process. No matter how small & causual the project may seem, you have to be very enlightened or clear-sighted, dilligent, judicious and persevering in searching for someone to manage and handle your project.

Take real commerical companies for an instance, they don't just select anybody to handle their project when outsourcing. They do some screenings. It's not like you have to interview the developer. It's not necessary... for the fact that they are just being hired. But it's all just boils down to being very professional & shrewd when it comes to finding the right person for the job.

Kelviz:
I appreciate man.
I really do need clarity, like the type of battery and other components I will need, where to get them, total cost and the whole setup. Thanks.
The type of battery you'll need is the 12v DC type (this could be lithium ion or lead acid) and a step up transformer to level up the power supply. The price for these two should be around 7k max
The other components are the ICs, transistor, resistor and capacitor plus the veroboard. You can get all for around 5k
Total = 12k.
Excluding enclosure and the tools & materials such as your multimeter, soldering iron and lead, tester... If you would get these ones, the total you may be spending should go around 12k in addition to the above amounts (7k & 5k) which sums up to an estimate of 25k.

But in case you don't want to stress, you can get a ready made one. Of which you basically just need a 500w inverter, 12v battery and a charger for your battery. You just connect them and plug your appliance particularly your laptop. The cost for these is the same as the 25k estimate (which is actually 12k if you have your tools & materials available). But... price will always vary because of manufacturing cost and inverter type/rating.

Laptop power banks are quite costly & it's not something you'll find in the market like you would find inverters. The other day, I visited one of my engineering bosses. And wow... that laptop powerbank I saw him with was really heavy duty. I thought it was what he bought and I asked where he got it from and said it was one friend who built it. I told him it looked industry standard. He even told me the price he got it for. Very expensive and mind-blowing. But the battery alone was 30-something thousand he built it with.

You won't easily find pocket-friendly power supplies but you can research something pocket-friendly. I've been just here to help you out for this reason. Just do your research. Efficiency though is key.
ProgrammingRe: Affordable Laptop Power Bank For Programmers by thanksjosh005: 6:08pm On Jun 10, 2022
Kelviz:
How do I go about it?
It's easy. It depends on the kind of power you want. But basically:
Get your tools if you don't have them.
Do your calculations to determine amount of load for the power and vise versa.
Schematics has to do with the precise components and connections so get a proper schematics online or design/build yours after your calculations according to engineering principles... it's sincerely not rocket science
Get the components this will include a pcb or a veroboard to mount your components, and befitting cable wires actually meant for the right electronical voltage.
Connect components properly by soldering

It is cost-effective & afterwards you can get an enclosure for your project. Of course, you don't need something serious. Just effective power

You get to even build more and sell. Later on you can improve your work by adding counters or seven segment displays and sleek enclosure design that sales, lol...

If ya just need more help & clarification then feel free

ProgrammingRe: Extraction In Javascript: How Would You Write Your Own Code? by thanksjosh005(op): 12:56pm On Jun 10, 2022
Method 1 is very succinct and clearly self-explained. Writing such algo could be based off your techne or mastery with writing codes. Method 1 can be broken down into concepts in JavaScript like
• JS object
three ways objects can be written:
via
° string literal
° the new keyword
° object constructor

Here the object constructor type was used which always include executing the code with the JS function keyword

• JS operators
comparison and tenary operators were used

• JS if/else

• JS slice() method

A practical understanding of these can help you understand the technicality of Method 1

JS is extensive and consists of various ways you can write code & build algos. Because we likewise have several existing versions of JS, familiarity with JS versions could also help you write various methods for your algos too. smiley
ProgrammingExtraction In Javascript: How Would You Write Your Own Code? by thanksjosh005(op): 12:06pm On Jun 10, 2022
Hello house....

What are your takes on this? Probably, which of these algos would you use when writing codes or do you have your own method as well?

Method 1 implies a more technical use of the JavaScript slice() method while Method 2 looks much like a simpler method for extracting a specified amount of string.

Method 1
truncate_string = function (str1, length) {

if ((str1.constructor === String) && (length>0)) {
return str1.slice(0, length);
}
};
console.log(truncate_string("Robin Singh",4));

//outputs Robi

Method 2
let text = "Hello world!";

let result = text.slice(3);

console.log(result);

//outputs lo world!

Hello, you probably didn't read my post strictly or in exactly the same way that I mean. So likely you have misread them. I reviewed it and thought as much. Apparently, the process is a little tedious and typically takes 90 days. I stated that you must have cleared all paperworks with the cbn and have been offered licence before taking things further with a contractor or an IT company.
For the costs I said that are high, the investor is probably someone in very close liaison with groups of other investors to meet with the financial requirements.

ProgrammingRe: Setting Up A Fintech Company In Nigeria. by thanksjosh005: 1:52pm On Jun 05, 2022
Hello, undisputed11

Truly, long story short but...
I am helping with preparing some fintech solution whitepaper for investors and individuals like you. The cost is definitely quite high and I'm sure the whitepaper should be a useful resource for you with everything you need to know. Even so it may help acknowledging that what you are venturing into is lucrative no matter the cost. You'll also be working with a system analyst and a software developer to pull virtually everything off for you after the paperworks with the cbn. Thus through the cbn and the cbn alone, you'll be required to purchase registration form of around 100k which according to them is unrefundable let alone, licencing fee that goes for a million or there about. You'll have to go through the cbn to verify and licence your business or payment banking service first before anything else. Because what's the use of building your products without being licensed first as there might arise jeopardy with getting licensed after establishing your products for your customers (meanwhile your fintech establishment is struggling with the cbn for licence). This is all I can let you know for now before proceeding towards the other stages which involves meeting with a developer company that may link you with all you need including hardware.

Alright. Do ensure and hope that helps. Otherwise, let me know the status quo.
