Most of the time, the problem people have with something isn't that it is bad, it is the fact that it doesn't meet their expectations. This explains why some people have so much nonsense to say and even go out of their way to justify senseless rhetoric. I am doing fantastic and I am completely happy with where I am today. I'm not rich or living a perfect life but you can bet I'm excited for the future. There's a reason the life expectancy in Nigeria is 53 and that in the U.S. is 78! I hope it's not too late when you figure it out. 2 Likes |

LUCAS99: Where/when/how did I make it seem easy for a RN to earn/save/make $100k? I only said it's a possibility. I don't know where you people live that bills and tax is taking all your earnings o. RNs with experience, working in ICU for example, can earn $80k+ AFTER TAX (I know one in Tennessee). It depends on lifestyle. She currently has two houses, 2 cars and has $55k cash in her account. I promise I can show you proof if you think I'm making it up. My point is: it is not an impossibility. Things happen in this life of ours. |

travelland: Same way we should hope you don't get picked up on your way home by SARS operatives and shot in the head to die on the spot. This also happens to people and it's devastating for their friends and family afterwards. Take your negativity away from me. Uber earnings are taxed. Paying taxes unlike you doesn't scare me. Moreover there are countless things to claim as deductions. Driven miles, gas I bought, insurance paid, etc. At the end of the day, the taxable income is reduced greatly and I may not even pay anything significant. 18 Likes |

LUCAS99: Are you talking about this credit from a Nigerian bank? If yes, that's awesome!!! I didn't know Nigerian banks could do such. If No, can you do the same with a Nigerian bank? If yes, that's still awesome!!! PS. You can save $100k working a regular job here (if being a RN and making $80k+ per annum is considered regular). It's not as impossible as you're making it. The question is... who's willing to make sacrifices to have $100k cash sitting in their bank account? Lol. 1 Like |

Godson201333: Lol, the moving back concept is really baffling. Someone's talking about moving back with 30-60 million Naira ($100k-200k). That's a lot of money. How many people can save 60m Naira in Nigeria? How many? People have failed abroad, people have also been fooled into moving back home thinking it'd be easier. In the end, they lost their way and their only saving grace was that they could realize their mistake and flee Nigeria again lol. A functioning system is a functioning system! It's complete ignorance to compare Nigeria to a such countries. There are still places in Lagos where you can't drive to. You have to park your car somewhere and walk or else... you'll spend your next salary fixing your car. I'm not against anyone wanting to move back. As long as they do it for their own reasons without saying untrue things, we're cool. Not even 2m Naira a month can make me move back to Nigeria. I can't deal with stupidity anymore. 5 Likes |

Lmao! Ungrateful hypocrites all over the place. Sometimes, no matter how much you try to explain a concept, some people won't just get it. I'll stop trying. See them talking about saving $100k-200k to move back to Nigeria in the same country where they said it's impossible to save any money due to tax, bills, debts, etc. I'm glad I was able to leave at a young age You can fool yourselves by talking up Nigeria like it's flowing with milk and honey over there, lmao. Is it not the same Nigeria? Sit down there and listen to stories of failed people, continue reading things online about losers and keep deceiving yourself with the Idea that everyone is suffering here lol. Your ignorance will only increase. I shake my head when I think of the barbers, hairdressers, truck drivers, welders, auto-mechanics, plumbers, etc. in Nigeria and how underrated/undervalued they are. As I am typing this comment, I just thought to myself... I can conveniently walk into a car dealership this weekend and walk out with a brand new 2018 Honda Accord if I wanted to and I'm just an average person with a nice credit score and a good job. I'm only having that opportunity because I'm here. Oh, and guess what? I tried the Uber/Lyft thing last weekend lol. I made $432 driving Thur-Sat, evenings only. Not bad for a rookie, is it? I spent about $30 on gas, though. I'm already fighting the temptation to make another $400+ this weekend. I'm glad things are working out for me beyond my expectations. Wherever you are, if things are genuinely working out for you how you want, awesome! EDIT Just checked the exact figures, it wasn't 432. It's 246 on Lyft and $201 on Uber making $447. 22 Likes |

Nig4Greatness: Documented aliens who are checked in/paroled in at the port of entry and are following proper channels to become permanent residents are doing it LEGALLY. For example, some students decide to stay after studies and never commit any crime in doing so. There are several ways to migrate without breaking rules. People do them EVERY day. |

Kolping: Many things are unclear about this image. Is it the stats of illegal arrivals? Nigeria's population compared to the other nations on the list could mean the % of people from other countries moving are higher. Also, there seemed to be a decline in the number for Nigeria in 2018 compared to the previous year, etc. All in all, migrating illegally by sea is one of the things I'd NEVER EVER advise anyone to do. That thing's so risky I don't have the heart for it but what do I know? 1 Like |

imperiouxx: At first, you said it was impossible and 100% a flat out lie, but you contradicted yourself by suggesting a possible scenario in the end (saying probably the hospital is family owned) which could be one of many other possible scenarios. Keep your mind open. I'm not in support of whatever that poster said or against the criticism she's getting from you guys but I frown when people say things like "nobody should/would spend x amount of money to do y". Also, I've not heard about Jamestown CC (don't fret, I also didn't hear of Duke or Morehouse until I saw them on Nairaland), and I don't wanna Google it. The concept of "nice school" is not clear-cut. What do you mean by "nice"? If you think you're a credible student, and you have plans for life after studies, go and face the VO with a good case for yourself. 1 Like |

Berliner1: This is spot on! People forget two of the most important things to remember when migrating: a positive mind and assimilation (blending in)! That's why some people fail. Move with people who see their cups as half full (not half empty) and try to blend with your host town/city/state/country. Learn about them and try to do things their way and your life would be easier. You stubbornly refuse to learn Finnish, German, Spanish, Italian for example or refuse to try to change your pronunciation habits for Americans, Canadians, etc. to understand you and you complain later, you have yourself to blame. 4 Likes |

nwendujudy: I remember your username. I just want to point something out to you. If you think repplying for a visa with a "ranked" school will guarantee your visa, I'm afraid you need a really good reality check. You will still have to work for your visa. If you're asked why you changed to XYZ university in Oregon and all you can say is "it is a ranked school", it's just another futile effort. What's my point? If you're trying to get into other schools, this is the time to start asking yourself what you want, why you really want them and do your research and continue learning how to prepare for interviews. Moving on, cost of living depends on so many factors. Like in any state, not all cities are the same so, where your school is/you'd live could be factors too. Oregon is a relatively expensive state to live in but remember: sometimes, the cheapest things in life aren't the cheapest. Mississippi, Alabama, Oklahoma are cheap states but there are so many places in these states you wouldn't wanna live in as a foreigner. Don't rush any decision, wait for the next session and spend time preparing. Make better decisions and be self critical. Don't let your future be decided by a random, faceless person in another place like me and others here lol because in the end, you'll be the one to live with your decisions. Always go for what's best for YOU, not what someone thinks would be best for them. I wish you the best. 2 Likes |

Gewezzy1: Yes it is!!! Only thing is... you'd have to strengthen your application and apply to programs/schools you have a chance of getting into. What do I mean by strengthening your application? Try to prepare and do well on standardized tests like TOEFL or GRE (preferably both), read on how to write a really good statement of purpose for your admission, etc. If you succeed in doing this, you'd see that your profile could be better than that of someone with a 3.0+ cgpa and has nothing else. Don't rush into anything, target fall 2019 semester and start your preparation now. It's doable! 1 Like 2 Shares |

hemekhar: In my opinion, your interview was really going well and you almost nailed it. I'd definitely reapply if I were in your shoes but with better preparation. Nothing wrong with your answers except for the two questions in bold. First one. Did you take any tests? I think "No" or "No, I didn't" would have been better. Not taking a test is not a crime. If they need anything else, they'd ask why. The second question in bold was your chance to nail the visa. Your answer was general, vague and most importantly, it didn't really answer the question: "Why are you leaving your good job?". Read your answer again, and you'd see that you could have done a better job. Another VO could have been impressed so maybe you just got unlucky. I believe reapplying is a good idea with better preparation. Give specifics. Talk about the particular technical and business skills you'd be getting and the particular examples of "senior roles" you wanna go back to. Better preparation. Don't give up on a dream after one failure. This is an opinion, please don't mistake for legal advice 5 Likes 1 Share |
