I wouldn't want Jonathan to run but he has a big chance if he joins APC. North central will vote for him, South South in the bag, South East in the bag. Core North might be divided due to APC. South West will be confused. Either they preserve their darling party or do a protest vote in favour of PDP.

Politics is all about opportunity. GEJ should never run under PDP if he decides to run.

My brother, reread the post you quoted. You will still get the answer to this..

Every other thing cited here is a conjecture and misinformation. Buhari lacks the capacity? Perhaps, Goodluck Jonathan, Obj and Yaradua who "have the capacity" ended corruption or reduced it to the barest minimum, right?

And the judiciary, President Buhari has the power to instruct it to jail corrupt politicians, right? As per Buhari is the Chief Justice of Nigeria and a mobile judge that will go from court to court, dictating who goes to jail or not, who is guilty or not, right? LOL.. It's not a must you argue. If you don't have points to make, read and move on and stop making conjectures.

At a point, you even emphasized my point that the "leaders(governors, senators, etc) allowed it due to corruption" .. The reason being that when the absolute majority of the people are corrupt, chances of electing corrupt officials are extremely high. This is one of the disadvantages of democracy. If only the President is willing, and the governors aren't, the senators aren't, there's nothing he can do. Only a benevolent dictator can achieve the desirable change under a dictatorship system. Otherwise, we should vote in men of integrity and honesty, like Governor Zulum, who are ready to work and engineer positive change. It's only when we have more of such people in high and sensitive positions that we can experience any such change. But here's the problem, how many Nigerians are as honest as Zulum(not saying he's perfect)? How many are incorruptible? What you are saying that corrupt politicians should end corruption, LOL..

Now this leads us back to the post you quoted. It has already answered this. But for some reasons, you just want to "disagree" no matter what.. But it's not a must. If you don't like a fact, you simply move on.
Enjoy your day bro

SilverNorGold:
My brother, the kind of rapid change you are talking about can only be achieved by a benevolent dictator under dictatorship and not under a corrupt democracy, like what's practised in Nigeria, which brings us back to CHANGE BEGINS WITH YOU.. President Buhari alone cannot make any meaningful change without the legislature and the judiciary. If these 2 key arms are corrupt, there's little the president can do.

Furthermore, the President needs people, as demanded by the constitution, to help run his government. Certainly, they'll be Nigerians.. Now tell me how President Mohammadu Buhari can singlehandedly change anything if the system is full of corrupt people? No matter how clean the President is, there's absolutely NOTHING he can do, that's it. His hands are tied.

However, if more Nigerians inculcate in themselves, the basic principle of honesty and integrity, then there'll be hope, that, at least, some of our representatives will be honest and will be ready to effect change and force corrupt elements to embrace change.

Otherwise, it's not going to happen. In democracy, the majority implement their will. The minority cannot. Only the President cannot. Only a governor cannot. It requires COLLECTIVE EFFORTS..

Only way the minority or the President can enforce change on the majority corrupt lot is in a dictatorship, and they have to be benevolent, otherwise, corruption can worsen under this system.

This is WHY CHANGE BEGINS WITH US, IN DEMOCRACY.
I beg to disagree. I bet you have never been to a place with working system. Appointees watch the body language of their principals. The change begins with the head which is the president. Governance revolves around PDCA, which stands for Plan, Do, Check, Act. What it simply means is that you have a strong plan, build a strong system, monitor the implementation, review the operation and implement the findings....the cycle goes on and on. Buhari actually lacks the intellectual capacity to govern and his appointees know this. Whatever character you exhibit as a leader will be driven down to the least of your followers. How can you appoint a minister and charge him on reforming say for example the transport sector and you don't hand him or have key performance indicators to know how he is doing the assigned task. Check Peter Obi and how he monitored his projects, Check Rotimi Amaechi during his time as Rivers state governor, Check Fashiola when he was Lagos State governor. You don't just answer the president and feel you can hand over governance or responsibilities to ministers and feel there's no need to be accountable or hold them accountable.
On the issue of not controlling judiciary and legislative arms, you are not completely right about it especially in this our current system. Executives actually influence other arms. Presidents have ways of getting others buy into your ideas. How many bills have you submitted, how many times have you issued executive order? I don't mean media propaganda. Someone created Efcc and if you think that it is not working, reforming it. Systems should be strong enough to drive itself and eliminate corruption.
In rivers state during the time of Peter Odili for an example, corps members are paid 3 months after service by cash. If you don't come or come late, the corrupt NYSC officials or your fellow ex-corps members will arrange and take your cash. This is a weak system that encourages corruption. Humans everywhere will always have this corruption propensity unless you put a strong system or law to check these acts. Back to Rivers state, Amaechi came on board and said that the money will be paid through the same Account corps members used to receive their allowances and today, no more complaints. So it's either the leaders do not know due to incompetence or they allowed it due to corruption.

My brother, did you read my post at all? You are attacking corrupt politicians when even the common man in Nigeria is corrupt? Are these senators and leaders not Nigerians? Or did corruption and mismanagement start with this government?

Next time, read everything before you comment. Cos I notice something about you "quoters". You just read first line, then quote to drop a misinformed reply. Reply that if you read the post again, you'll notice it has been replied. This is why I don't reply most mentions.
You are actually the one that didn't read what you wrote. Problems are tackled from top down and not the other way round. Prudence on the part of governance means reducing corruption in the system. Look at the analogy you gave with iPhone. Even if we give Buhari £4k to buy the iPhone, they will loot £3.9k. Cutting cost of governance technically means ending corruption, restructuring the country, reforming systems and building strong institutions. I never said corruption started with this current government but we can't hold yesterday accountable for our current situation. We have today (Buhari government) to address tomorrow's ( future) problems. Buhari was actually wrong when he said change begins with you. Government everywhere sets the pace, gives directions with laws and policies.

Nice.. But the truth is that if the government should do the RIGHT thing to end the recession and boost the economy to first-tier level, there'll be massive protests across the country before the plans even kick off..

Nigerians want the government to turn Nigeria into New York overnight, but they want a tax-free and all-subsidized society..

LOL, Nigerians gave President Mohammadu Buhari 5000 naira to purchase iPhone 11 Pro Max and still bring back change.. It doesn't work that way, my brothers and sisters...

The problem is with us, Nigerians... Unless we change, we shouldn't expect change.. Even our younger ones.. You collect 15k from your struggling parents to buy a textbook that's actually worth 1k, then you pocket the remaining 14k.. That's Introduction to Corruption 101.. cheesy

May God help us all.
Not really. Nigerians will be ready to pay more taxes if they are put to good use. You tax poor masses who are struggling to survive and loot the cash. Infact as it stands now, we are not supposed to be paying tax with the ongoing poor system. Poor roads, poor electricity, no water, no security etc. We simply tax 90% of Nigerians to service corrupt 10%. Look at how much our senators earn monthly. Even countries with robust economy don't pay that much.

Bossman25:
What are we phasing out....
We buy players to trust them...and build confidence.....these older players have become toxic that they will manipulate the whole thing to keep their starting bert guaranteed ......
Nobody is understudying anybody.....Rakitic was bought for the first team...Lucho had changed the team dynamics and Rakitic was important.....Xavi unlike Suarez should have left......but Suarez was too greedy......
The messi rant is uncalled for.......Suarez was blocking the path for Greizmann.....Greizmann should be the starter while Suarez should be the bench piece but it was the other way round.....
At the end of it all....its all about the attack playing as a unit and a team...not Suarez & messi alone.....
I understand your point but you have to understand how football works and best way to have a healthy sports project.
Firstly, no footballer likes to sit on the bench especially when he is still active in international football. Suarez and Messi are still active with Uruguay and Argentina respectively. They need every minute. That's where a good coach comes in. By good coach I mean a leader on and off the pitch. They play to their satisfaction and team's need. Coaches that have balls. For a healthy sports project, the club must support the coach by signing good players (not makeshift players like Braithwaite and Andre Gomez quality). Then the coach should make the squad competitive, I mean people should play because they deserve it. You don't sign players and ask them to be back-up players. It kills the spirit of competitiveness.
Again you don't throw away players because they are old, it sends bad signal to the team. Some players would like to retire in their respective clubs. What good clubs or coaches should do is to handle the transition slowly and in bits. You buy a player to understudy the main person and provide some sort of competition. Choose when to play the younger ones and when to rest old legs. Look at how Wenger phased out Patrick Vieira. Fabregas was brought in without Viera feeling bad. Look at how Bravo was phased out and replaced with Ter Stegen.
Suarez didn't lose form, natural law of aging just set in. He is still a better finisher than Griezmann even at his age. You don't just buy Griezmann and bench Suarez immediately. It hurts their ego and affects team spirit and cohesion. Frankie De Jong will gradually phase out Busquet. Look at CB position, you don't expect Pique to play all matches and give 100%. Who is there to take over? Ronald Araujo is supposed to be introduced gradually but the board and coaches are not seeing that.

Barca create nothing less than 50 chances per match for this dude.....he would score the hardest of goals....
But the simple goals he will miss them.....
Also his footwork his gone....Suarez can't run with the ball anymore....
Suarez was benefitting immensely from messi.....to the extent that....you will think they were glued or something.....
We need younger and sharper striker.....
All those old men too GATS to goooo! Pique and them

You are right bro but that's not how to phase out old players. Who is replacing him? You have to get someone and allow the person to understudy him for a season. Look at the way Xavi left the club. Rakitic was bought and Xavi played less minutes that season....that's the transition. The board is shit. Look at how the transition from Puyol to Mascharano happened. That's why Bayern has a better project. They get your replacement to play for a year or two. You don't just wake up and decide to sell all your old legs.

EducationRe: Please Help My English Is Very Bad by TheBeat: 1:44pm On May 26, 2020
You have two problems, first is "good English" and second one is "confidence".
Confidence, although could be mastered by reading and copying, is an inborn trait. Confident people do not really care if they speak correctly and fluently. They do not pay attention to details or care less of what you make out of their grammatical errors.

Reading books, speaking English with friends and family, listening to podcasts and all that are good but they won't get you the right foundation you need to become better. To rephrase this, they are the secondary thing to be done in your quest to master English grammar. Take mathematics for example, those multiplication tables we read in primary schools are the core ingredients one needs to excel in the subject. You want to master calculus yet you don't know what 2 raised to power 0,1,2,3 is. My teacher will direct you to the foundation (drawing board as he calls it)

For me, who I call a good English user is one that knows tenses. What is the point in reading novels to know the meaning of "pragmatic" when you still say I DIDN'T SAW you? So my advice is to pick up foundation books to read about words and opposite, singular and plurals, subject-verb agreement, tenses etc. Do not worry about how slow or how uncommon it sounds in your mind. Gradually you can build on each progress you make. Then you move to the next advanced stage of fluency, vocabulary etc by reading, writing, listening and speaking more often.

On confidence, knowledge gives you confidence. Conquering the first part, grammar will come with a certain degree of confidence. Secondly, there are great books on how you can take it higher. The level of confidence you can achieve will be determined by many factors: your temperament, your eagerness to become confident and how much you commit into being confident.....man is a creator and has the ability to recreate his world even if he wasn't born with that trait. Just be consistent and you will surprise your friends and yourself!

Rochas has his fault and failed in many areas but no one can take away the facelift he gave to Owerri. I lost my way when I went to Owerri after being away for only a short period. Massive development. In terms of real estate, Igbos are trying. Everyone is thinking home gradually. Seems there's a new trend now, everyone is building his mansion in Owerri. While the state capital is known for education and hospitality, I wish some can take advantage of this and start building industries in neighbouring towns. Orlu is developing too. Seems Okigwe is left out.
Thank you Rochas for your contributions even though you disappointed us in many areas.
