Fashion / Re: Essential Grooming Habits For Men by thebestonearth(m): 4:16pm On Nov 01, 2015
OiG:

Good grooming doesn’t have to be time consuming. In fact a few essential tweaks to your daily wash routine can have you looking your best in a matter of minutes.
1. THE WASH BAG
Smelling fragrant starts in the shower. Select a shower gel that will compliment your cologne as well as keep you clean. It can be tempting to use a single soap product for your body, face and hair – don’t. Instead, identify you hair type and pick a shampoo and conditioner accordingly. Then, do the same with your face wash. Whatever your worry, be it ageing, uneven skin tone or breakouts, there’s a cleanser to suit.

2. FRESH FACED
It’s recommended that you follow a four-step skin care routine daily. But if four steps seem excessive, then at least make sure you protect your face with a day cream that is high in SPF. Specialised moisturisers will target ageing concerns and reinvigorate a face that’s been weathered by days spent outdoors or environmental aggressors, like office air conditioning. We also suggest using an eye cream to reduce puffiness and dark circles.

3. CARE FOR YOUR HAIR
If you’re blessed with thick and wavy hair, heavier products like waxes are great for styling, but if your hair is thinner, use lighter products – hair sprays and powders are ideal.

When it comes to taming facial hair, prepare your skin with a shaving product before reaching for the razor. Avoid irritation by soaking your razor in warm water to open up your pores for easier hair removal.

4. THE FINAL TOUCHES
Whatever the season, good foot care is important. After a shower (when your skin is at its softest) use a pumice stone to whip away dead skin, then trim toenails and pull back cuticles. And if foot odour gives you jib, use a specialised product to avoid any embarrassing whiffs when removing your shoes - the award-winning Feet Up brand will keep odour at bay.

The same goes for your hands. Nothing looks more unsightly on a man than overgrown, dirty fingernails. Be sure to cut back fingernails on a weekly basis and use a nailbrush or manicure set to keep nails in check. A specialised hand moisturiser will keep hands soft and tactile.

“The female announcer continued saying this is radio Biafra closing down forever.”
Details of the shutting down of the radio were sketcy, but sources close to the military told our correspondent on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the press that It was made possible by an elite team of special operations, who successfully infiltrated the Pro Biafra organisations abroad and provided the Nigerian Security with critical intelligence for the success of the operation.

Lizabeth25:
Scripture:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

Unemployment can disrupt our plans to buy a home, pay for school or help a parent. Few people make plans for job loss. Some might save a percentage of their money with hopes of earning more in the future. We’re tempted to lose hope and give up on future plans when we lose our jobs. Even though their situation looked hopeless, God told the Israelites in Jeremiah 29:11 about His good plans for hope for their lives. Isn’t that great? Jesus loves you so much He has a plan for your life.

Have a blessed day!

See that woman in the picture above carrying a baby on her back to go and scoop fuel. Even if she wants to risk her life, she should not

risk the life of the child too because the child may never forgive her if he sustains any injury.

The incident occured early this morning at Mowe Ibafo as a tanker carrying fuel stumbled and the residents jumped into action and brought empty containers to move as much as they can carry.

It could explode at any moment. Security operatives were not even there to control the situation. This is too bad.

Family / Re: See The Miracle Girl Born With Heart Outside Her Chest Defies All Odds by thebestonearth(m): 3:05pm On Nov 01, 2015
blanco56:
A six-year-old girl who was born with her heart
outside of her chest has moved thousands of miles
from Russia to America in the hope she can have
treatment.
Virsaviya "Bathsheba" Borun-Goncharova suffers
from thoraco-abdominal syndrome or Pantalogy
of Cantrell
and amazingly she is able to dance and even do the
splits despite her condition.
According to photos posted online by her mother,
her heart can be visibly seen beating with only a thin
layer of skin to protect it.
The condition which occurs in less than 1 in a million
births is so rare her mother Dari Borun has had to
move her from Russia to the US in the hope she can
have surgery.

Virsaviya Borun suffers from multiple
birth defects
Several hospitals around the world are said to have
turned down Ms Borun's request to operate on her
daughter because of the difficulties and risks of
surgery.
The pair recently traveled to Boston but the
Children's Hospital could not operate because her
aortic blood pressure was too high, she claims.
Now the family have moved to Hollywood in the
hope that medications can bring her blood
pressure down enough to operate.
"I like to draw Jesus, ponies and angels," said
Virsaviya.
I don't go to the school and I don't go to the ballet
but I want to do it at home.
"My heart is right here.
"It's outside of my chest and I really love my
mom, she's always touching my heart because she
likes it."
Virsaviya's heart, about the size of a fist, has always
been outside of her chest since birth.
She is expected to require several very complicated
operations.
The cheerful and talented child who loves dolphins,
dogs, horses and Beyonce has had her entire life documented on her mother's instagram account. It shows hundreds of photos of the child. www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/miracle-girl-born-heart-outside-6744161

Politics / Re: What Dogara Did Can Derail Democracy by thebestonearth(m): 2:42pm On Nov 01, 2015
LocalChamp:
Posted By: Victor Oluwasegun and Dele Anofion: November 01, 2015

Garba Datti Muhammed representing Sabon Gari Federal Constituency, Kaduna State, rejected his appointment as chairman of the committee on Solid Minerals Development. He is the former Deputy Minority Leader in the 7th House. In this chat with Victor Oluwasegun and Dele Anofi, he further elaborates on his reasons for rejecting the committee.

The issue of Committees had become an albatross on the neck of the Green Chamber, so much so that you rejected your chairmanship of the Solid Minerals Committee. What were your reasons?

Well, I have already stated my reasons. Being a former principal officer and a senior member of the House, I thought as a democrat, in democracy, consultation is very necessary. So, I think I should have been contacted at least. To work as a committee chairman is to assist Mr. Speaker in running the House. And I think such critical thing, before being appointed, at least you’ll be consulted. Like in the executive arm, the President cannot just announce you without consulting the people that will serve with him. That’s one reason. The other one, I’m a bit worried with the composition, about how the committees were shared. This is a government of change and we have been in the opposition for the last 16 years and the National Assembly has been controlled by the majority party, the PDP. Even in the last House in the 7th Assembly, we supported Aminu Waziri Tambuwal to emerge as Speaker, but at the end of the day, all the critical committees he shared it to his own party members -the PDP, people that did not even vote for him. But we were not worried because we knew they were the majority party and it’s the practice all over the world. In the US, we have 16 standing committees and these 16 standing committees, the Republican Party are in the majority. And all the 16 committees are headed by members of the Republican Party. It’s only the deputy committees that are given to the minority. Though I know our own peculiarities may differ, but you cannot as a party give all the sensitive committees to your opponent. It you can recall, just yesterday the National Publicity Secretary to PDP, Olise Metuh came out to say that all the members of the PDP should brace up and oppose this government.

So, if you’re giving them such committees, what is the implication? For instance, there is agitation that the committee on PIB should be represented. If this PIB committee is represented, all the three Petroleum Committee were given to PDP members. So what do you think will be the outcome of that type of committee? So these are some of our fears and it portends a lot of danger to this our democracy.

How does it portend a danger to democracy?

In democracy, you are elected as a party and each party has its own manifestos. And to achieve that, there must be a synergy between the members of the majority party and the ruling party at the same time. So, if you have given such sensitive committees to the opposition and they’re opposed to your policies, how do you achieve it?

You can now see what is happening in the United States Congress today Obama has been battling with the US House of Representatives because they control the majority. All his efforts about his health care programmes the Obamacare, aside that, lots of serious problems in the House because the majority of the Congressmen are members of the Republican Party. So, that partisanship, you can’t take it out. Even in the Nigerian Senate, you saw what happened just yesterday (Wednesday). The PDP Caucus held a meeting to, take position on the nominations of Mr. president particularly that of Amaechi. So, you can see the danger of Mr. Speaker giving these kinds of committees to the opposition.

A member from your state, Sumaila Suleiman was given the committee that you dropped and he accepted it. Is it that you don’t all share the same ideology of philosophy?

I don’t know. Everybody has his own principle. I have my own and I don’t know of his own he may have his own principle. We don’t have to be the same. But all I know is that I’ve resigned that position as a chairman. Because my primary responsibility here is to represent my constituency and I am doing it exactly without being a committee chairman. It’s not everybody that will be a committee chairman or deputy. More than half of the members will not be committee chairmen or deputies and they will still exist and they will still perform. I don’t think it will affect my representation as a member.

Don’t you think Nigerians on the streets will see your position on this matter and probably of other members that may toe the same line as a fight for pecuniary gains, rather than representation?

I don’t know, other may go and fight for positions, but me, I did not ask anyone to give me any of these committees. I feel if I’m qualified I will be given and I have the right to accept it or reject it.

With the way things are going, with the polarization is this House going to achieve even as much as the last House did?

Well, I cannot say, I cannot predict what will happen. But all I know, I will continue to work for the interest of my own party that gave me the platform to contest. I will work to achieve that change that we have all been yearning for, so that Nigeria will be a better place for everybody

If tomorrow the House Leadership or the Speaker calls you to serve in a different committee ad hoc or standing, would you accept?

Well as I told you, at least if you’re going to give me that responsibility, Speaker is the leader of the House, it will be very good for him to call me and say okay, Honourable so and so, please I want to give you this assignment, because I feel you can handle it…how do you see it? When he gives me that leverage, if I will do it, I will tell him. If I have anyone that I feel can do it better than myself, I will suggest it to Mr. Speaker. It may be the work is too technical. If I’m not professional in that aspect, I will tell him the truth, I will say Mr. Speaker, this is too technical, I cannot handle it, but we have people that are professionals in that field, why not call this person. I think that’s the best way to approach it. This is democracy, consultation is the basis of any democracy, that’s why democracy is different from dictatorship, we should make consultations, interact and exchange ideas.

But the Chairman of the House committee on Media and Public Affairs reportedly claimed that all parties were informed especially members of the House leadership before the list was released. He said everyone agreed. Is what you’re saying now not different from that?

Well I don’t know that one. Al I know is that even Femi Gbajabiamila came out openly to say he was never consulted before the constitution of the committees. Maybe they only announced it in his presence. But he was never consulted for anything. He has said it times without number that he was never consulted before the committees were constituted. I also read it in the papers. You can verify from him.

What about the claims of the House that they did the selection in line with due process, fairness, justice as well as Federal character?

Anybody can say that. If that’s how they see their justice and fairness, fine, good luck.

I have watched with dismay many uninformed nigerian/African friends of mine take the holloween craze to a whole new level, even to church. They flood my fb timeline and rather scary wizardry looks. They seem to identify and ignorantlty celebrate foreign culture that their own. Africa is know for its rich culture, juju, charms, ogbanje, and many other allegedly known deities like shongo, amadioha et all., av never seen our people and indeed the whites celebrate them.I had to make some research and here is what I discovered.

Halloween is a holiday celebrated on the night of October 31. The word Halloween is a shortening of All Hallows’ Evening also known as Hallowe’en or All Hallows’ Eve.

Traditional activities include trick-or-treating, bonfires, costume parties, visiting “haunted houses” and carving jack-o-lanterns. Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Other western countries embraced the holiday in the late twentieth century including Ireland, the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom as well as of Australia and New Zealand.

Halloween has its origins in the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain (pronounced “sah-win”).
The festival of Samhain is a celebration of the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture. Samhain was a time used by the ancient pagans to take stock of supplies and prepare for winter. The ancient Gaels believed that on October 31, the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead overlapped and the deceased would come back to life and cause havoc such as sickness or damaged crops.

The festival would frequently involve bonfires. It is believed that the fires attracted insects to the area which attracted bats to the area. These are additional attributes of the history of Halloween (sourcehttp://www.halloweenhistory.org)
Clearly, it is a celebration of the western world and purely based on fiction. So can someone in the house pls answer my question why Nigerians carry the thing for head. Some new churches even sometimes ask their members to dress in special way undecided

Hello Nairalanders, I have been a member on this forum for a while now and I have been enjoying this forum.
I'm here to share with you guys something that happened to me.
My name is irrelevant and I work with NBL. My pay is ok and I live comfortable with a car. There's this girl that I was dating and we were doing just fine. She's a student of Oko poly while I'm a student of Esut and also working. One faithful day, she called me to inform me that she will be coming to Enugu for a friend's birthday party and that after the party, she will spend the weekend with me before going back to school. She also said that she will be coming with her friend which I accepted because I stay in a 3 bedroom apartment. I was on morning duty when she called that they're already in Enugu and that she will be helping her friend prepare for the birthday. So I decided to see her after work. After work and the birthday party, we had fun along with her friend. Before we could get home it was already late so I decided to rest as I will be working 12hrs the next day.
Her friend was busy watching movie so I showed her an empty room to sleep whenever she feels like as I don't like people sleeping on my couch. I woke up in the middle of the night to ease myself only to notice that the television is still on. I went to the sitting room to switch it off only to see her friend sleeping on my couch. I woke her up and told her to go to the bedroom. She left the sitting room so I switched off everything and headed back to my room. On getting to my room, I saw my babe with her friend sitting on the bed gisting in Igbo language. I'm an igbo but was born and raised in lagos. I don't speak igbo fluently but I can understand it very well but my babe thinks that as I don't speak igbo, that's there's no way I can understand it. Her friend was telling my babe that I came to the sitting room to romance her. My babe on the other hand was telling her that she's just dating me for the benefit and that I'm a fool etc. I was sitting on the bed listening to their gist. At a point, I got fed up so I went to the wardrobe and brought my I.d card. I showed them and also told them that I heard all that they said. I also told them that I would have sent them out but it will be inhuman.
I woke up around 5am to prepare for work, I also woke them up to prepare and leave that I would be mad if I come back and still meet them in my house. When I came back from work, my laptop and my dstv decoder was gone. I decided to forget about it and buy another one. One of my friend kicked against it. He called and threatened her so she called me and apologised and promised to bring them back. When I went to her place to collect it, she told me that she is pregnant for me.
She brought out lab report to back it up. I wasn't afraid as I know that I can take care of her and the baby. I told her that I will only accept the baby if and only if she agrees to follow me to my company's hospital for another test. She accepted and we scheduled an appointment. I went to her place to pick her up and we went to the hospital. I met my doctor and told him that my fiance is pregnant but we want to be sure that the baby is still there. The doctor took us to his office and said that it will cost us 2000 so I gave it to him. He excused himself and said he will be right back. As the doctor went out, after a few minutes my babe also went outside. I sat down quietly thinking of what next to do when the doctor came back but my babe wasn't yet back. I called her phone but she wasn't answering so I decided to go outside and look for her. On stepping out I saw her sitting on my car bonnet. I told her that the doctor is waiting for her but she said I should come to where she was sitting. I met her, she started smiling and said I should forget about the lab test that I have passed her test. I gave her the slap of her life out of anger, pushed her out of my car and drove off.
Right now I'm thinking of going to the other hospital where she collected the other lab report from with police and arrest whoever that signed it

Without a defined law/regulation to control the advert of these materials and servicies things might just get out of hand. The internet is a great plus to business but where it comes to adult contents there should be disclaimers and such adverts should only be made at adult sites. Should a parent be worried of watching a movie with his/her child online on youtube, just because of unnecessary adult adverts that may infiltrate the page. The national assembly should do something about it. Even popular vendors like jumia has joined the band wagon that the only adverts i see in recent times from them are adult materials. If i need adult materials i should search for them and not these materials interloping my freedom.. just my concern
