The gas pipeline passing through the West African coast would be cheaper, safer and less vulnerable to sabotage.

Remember the pipeline passing through the Sahel and unto the Sahara would endear the project to these notoriously unstable regions with all manners of terror groups operating in them.

But if the gas pipeline passes through the West African Atlantic coastline, the Naval forces of Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal etc would be on hand to supervise, protect and give logistical support for construction.
