back in the days, a BASTARD CHILD was any child/children born out of people that was not married, and til today the church still calls these children BASTARD CHILDFEN. in this day and age, any children where their paternity/origin is in question is a BASTARD CHILD. it can also mean a child of inferior status...aka a married man who had children with his mistress, thats a BASTARD CHILD, aka not as important as the children a man has with his wife but with equally his child, just with some lower status than his own children that came out of wedlock.
