activatenigeria: From a very reliable source that pleaded anonymity. No source no story. |

inze: I've got a w202 c180/elegance/manual drive and to the best of my knowledge its a lefty. Its got a remote sensor on the driver side that picks signal from the key-fob which locks/unlock the doors and windows while the passenger side has the keyhole. According to the manual, its instruction says, leave an extra-battery in the pigeon hole should in case the battery of the remote fails then unlock door from passenger side while you get replacement battery in the car.Guess I am wrong about that car then. |
nurey: You are right the car was converted from RHD to LHD but the key hole is now at the LH side except the doors were also converted. It was meant to be at the passenger side.In your original post you said the keyhole is on the passenger side which is on the right of the vehicle, I am abit confused with your new post again. |
inze:Your car was converted from a right hand to a left. Does it make sense to open a car from the passenger side if your remote control and/or central lock isnt working? Do some reesearch, i drive a 2008 C300 and the key hole is on the driver side door. |
Oh, wow! A friend told me about the car wash on the Opebi link bridge from Mobolaji Bank-Anthony haven't tried them yet. |
nurey: So today, entering the nissan primera 2003-2008 model year was a problem as the battery to the transponder was weak but alas it unlocked and it was driven. So the battery was changed and the transponder locked the car but to now unlock the car was a problem and there was no key hole to insert key for manual opening.Your car is originally a right hand drive, cars that have only one key hole have them at the drivers side door. I had a 2000 model Nissan Maxima and the key hole was at the drivers door. Also, ur transponder definitely has a problem, will advice u check the part number at the back of the transponder and search for it online and alsso how to program it to your car, I did mine myself when I had to replace it. Pls note, not all cars can be programmed via DIY. |
cne010: I was just discussing about this with a friend we need good detailing shops where dead interiors can't be brought to life. I'm following a lead would get back to you tomorrow hopefully. Thanks a whole lot, will be waiting. |
Hello peeps, can anyone tell me where I can get my leather seats cleaned? They are light grey in color and the color is changing. Thanks. |
Chichilas: Well,Hello sir, read your manual or check the glossary at the back of your manual. You can actually switch off and switch on the DRL. At least for my W204 C300 i am able to switch it off cos i am not particularly a fan of the DRL. Your benz has a somewhat similar instrument cluster, so i expect you should be able to navigate through. |
Eyop: Yes i am very sure that what you are experiencing is the pinging. Once you make use of the Octane booster am sure it will stop. You should have been using that from time to time.I better get the octane booster as quickly as possible |
Eyop: What type/brand of Engine oil do you make use of? octane boosters are sold all over but very few does what they actually claim. Some may not give you the required points that is required while some can do so. I can find out and revert back on this thread.I use Mobil 1, expect your response on the octane boosters. I also read somewhere that the sound could be related to the fuel rating, thats why i am eager to use the octane booster. |
Eyop: Am glad to know that your ride was properly fixed and sincerely that W204 is just it bro. Were you not making use of Octane boosters from time to time? I understand that our fuel is a mess and sometimes very difficult to know if the RON is even up to 91 as recommended by Mercedes Benz. Can you explain more on knock sound you experience in the morning? @ the bolded hahahahahIt sounds like the oil hasn't supplied properly but the sound goes away after a few seconds. Please where can i get these octane boosters in Lagos? |
Eyop: Unfortunately he doesn't reside in Lagos but PHC. Hope yours was properly fixed and performing well since then?@ Eyop, just noticed and modified my post. Yes, mine was properly fixed. Mercedes Benz is just it. I recently changed my arms and stab linkage, set me back about N130k, need to change the rear shocks. I hear this slight knock sound in the morning when i start the car or after the car has been parked for a long time, anybody know what that could be? and yes, our bad fuel has brought on my check engine light. All in all, i have not had a single issue with that car. My next car is a benz and after that a benz and after that a benz lol. |
slyboggie: @grandmasterHello @ Slyboggie, i apologise for my late response. Please do not let any none merc specialist touch that car. My advice is to tow the vehicle to Mercedes Benz in Lekki, thats the one close to Elegushi beach. They will do a full diagnosis and give you an estimated bill and then you can take it from there. Email me so i can give you the number for someone that works there. **modified** didnt know you live in port harcourt, still shoot me an email and i will give you the guys number, i am sure there will be a solution |
claycares: GEJ achieve in the part few years has been quite commending as this picture speaks volume of these achievements. I intend to list the several projects and policies GEJ has accomplished during his short term in office. Please add yours as well and if you don't have use the back button on your browser to navigate to the main list of politics section. No offence please.Joker, this was at the Eko Atlantic City launch, dumb post |
Hello everyone, can someone please help me with a reputable MB spare parts dealer? Its really urgent. Thanks |
Aroca2013: Thanks so much for your understanding but you shouldn't blame me because is just like when one is about marrying a wife from the region he knows little or nothing about,he will be curious to know a lot prior to either forging ahead or decliningI do use the octane booster but not very often. |
Aroca2013: OK... TheGrandMaster have stressed you a lotNo, no stress at all, lol! I would advice you search for one that has had the issue resolved or just buy the low mileage one like the one above, you just might be lucky it wont fail all through you usage. |
Aroca2013: I wasn't talking of bypassing the problem in this case. You know some of this service centres will use that as an opportunity to milk someone dry because they know you don't have a choice but to spend that money so if one is lucky to have an insider that has his own private workshop,he will be able to resolve that cheaper the all the big names because most engineers employed by the big workshops have their private workshops and since it isn't the workshop that fix the cars but rather the individual and equipments. But does it mean if after reviewing the history of the vehicle before purchase and there was no information on EIS replacement, that i should fix it over there despite not having any issues? The pic displayed above has less than 25K miles on it so i don't think such might have happened on it.The initial 350k i spent was from engineers with Mercedes Benz, they eventually advised i take it to their main office for the German engineers to do an extensive diagnosis. I have like 3 guys that i can call on regarding fixes and other stuff, but this particular issue is a specialized issue. In any case, i think going for that car with 25k miles is not a bad idea and doesnt look like there will be any failure anytime soon but i am just saying that you can change it as a form of preemptive maintenance. |
Aroca2013: I also believe that there should be a remedy to bypass this type of problem in Nija only that it has not been discovered yet. Just like the issue of the superchargers failure with W203 which costed so much to replace but that is being fixed here in Nigeria at peanut. Reliability happens to be the major issue with the benz compared to the Japanese.Bypassing the problem will probably put you in deeper trouble, like someone said in the link i put up, everything is tied to that specific car, i guess thats why they say the new generation of MB's are almost impossible to steal except you are car jacked at gun point. Anyway, like i said get one that has the issue resolved or get it done in America before shipping to Nigeria, it is far cheaper over there. |
Aroca2013: This isn't a child's play sirAnd i am really begging you to go for one with the issue resolved, cos if not you can be at a filling station buying fuel, switch of the engine and take out the key, put it back, key turns in the ignition, warning lights dont come on steering is locked, God help you if your tires are straight if not not, you will lift that car with a crane on to a flatbed tow truck. Google it, apart from that failure, the ride is extremely superb with little or no hassles. check this brief discussion out http://www.pakwheels.com/forums/engine-transmission-powertrain/203139-mercedes-w204-starter-problem-steering-lock-issue |
Aroca2013: This isn't a child's play sirI see you have done extensive research regarding the failed parts for w204. If you check www.mbworld.org, most of the failures happen around 60k to 70k miles. Its best you buy one with the issue resolved, i guess using the vin number should help or a car with history properly documented. I was unlucky cos i had a wrong diagnosis at first which cost me 350k and these were guys that worked with mb for a long time, eventually had to tow to lekki before the german engineers there got the proper diagnosis and charged me N500k. Car is still not out yet though cos we are waiting for the green key to program everything. This is also a plea for our experts to tell me the best coolant for a w204. |
Aroca2013: Thanks very much again for your response. The Toyota avensis and the C350 will land here at almost the same price or the C350 slightly higher than the Avensis depending on the mileage on the car. But all the same after am satisfied with the comments have gotten so far in general i will take a decision. My car is at about 61k miles, and averagely from what i got on the internet failure is around 70k miles. Replacing the EIS cost about N198k then there is what is called the green key which is used to program the EIS to work with your old key that costs another N115k, i ordered a spare key for my car so my total bill shot up to about N500k with other sundry charges included. Thats why i advice you confirm replacement of the part from wherever you are buying so you dont go through that stress |
I am not surprised, its like everywhere you turn these days, there is a Benz |
Aroca2013: Thanks Gee2728 for your kind response. I am not after space and moreover i am not married so i don't even mind the C350 and if i pre-order the car,i will only use it for 3 or maximum 4 years before acquiring another one. The vehicle i had in mind to pre-order was the 2009 Toyota Avensis(from Germany since there's none in USA) but i considered so many things and the top on the list was the security issues with high risk of theft on Toyota brand of cars and that was what made me change my interest to the Mercedes Benz apart from the durability, you hardly hear people complain of mercedes benz theft. When ordering your C350, confirm that the Electronic ignition system(EIS) and/or the Electronic steering lock(ESL) issue has been resolved because its a well known fact that its the part of the w204 that fails the most. You can do a google search on EIS and ESL failure for W204. I have my w204 with MB place for the past 2months and apart from the cost of replacing, it takes ages for the parts to arrive because they can only be sourced directly from Mercedes Benz in Germany. If you have confirmed that the parts have been replaced then you can go ahead and buy the car cos you will definitely enjoy that ride. |
Amouage Dia, Ysl Jazz, burberry weekend. |
This policy will be reversed after the elections. It's in a bid to gather money for elections, no be the same stallion group open LC a day after the policy so as to import 20,000 cars before the policy takes effect and sell at a very high rate next year? Yeye dey smell. |
My advise is to take it Benz place in Lekki, they will do a full diagnosis of the vehicle and give you an estimated bill. If you decide to go ahead you can make a down-payment and work begins and when it is finished you pay the balance but if you decide to take it away after they have diagnosed the vehicle you just need to pay a fee of N25k and you r free to take your vehicle away. |
Seems no one here has had any W204 experience. |
In all the talk going on here, no one has said anything about the generation and transmission of electricity, what will the DISCOs do with 4000mw of electricity in a country like Nigeria? http://businessdayonline.com/2013/11/power-generation-hits-4000mw-after-okpai-power-plant-restoration/ The Generation and Transmission companies are still in the hands of the FG, privatise or decentralize those parts and we will know how serious the government is. If we generated so much and had problems distributing then we could say we have a good problem, but we are not generating enough. A case of putting the cart before the horse, just like the 70% tariff on cars. Big pity. |
. Do you make use of the Octane boosters? Regular servicing isn't an issue for me even though the cost will be higher but the beauty of it is that once you get that done,it last longer. Any other thing i need to know will be greatly appreciated. Thanks once again MASTER
, So are you advicing me that if am to pre-order a 2009 C350 for instance,i should ensure that they replace the EIS for me?
