Car Talk / How Two Young Co-hosts Run Their Own Car Rental Business With Pull Up by Theix9: 12:38am On May 20, 2021
“If I had any advice for a car owner, it would be to explore the possibilities of car sharing with Pull Up”, Steve said in a quick chat with Pull Up.
Steve and Temidayo heard about Pull Up in November 2020. A car-sharing community where you can onboard your car and make money by renting it to verified members of that community. They came together and bought a 2005 Toyota Camry. Since then it’s been a streak of checks every month.

Before we go further, you must know exactly what Pull Up is.

As the first car-sharing platform in Africa, Pull Up bridges the car owners' and car renters' gap. In other words, car owners put up their vehicle for lease and push it for rentals while signed-up renters can rent those cars for a fee for their outings, meetings, drive-by, errands, and pretty much anything you do with a car. Pull Up provides safety, security, and most importantly a community of trustworthy people for all this to happen.

When the pair first heard of Pull Up, they went on to do their research and decided to try. After purchasing their Toyota cash cow, they had to get adapted to being car hosts in the community. That included setting availability days for the car, delivering the car to the renter in the shortest time possible, and telling the renter everything there is to know about the car before handing off the keys. They’re Pull Up’s first set of co-hosts and they have been nothing but awesome so far.

What it takes to be a car owner on Pull Up
To be a car owner on Pull Up, all you need is your own car and some dedication to your renters. The car owner journey is a beautiful one because there are always new relationships created with your renters, and as time goes it becomes a self-sustaining way to foot the car’s bills.
To sign up as a car owner, CLICK HERE (https://pullup.com.ng/). After signing up to be a car owner, we will schedule a physical car inspection with you. If your car passes the inspection, then you will go on to set your listing price, car details, availability, delivery arrangements, and all the necessary paperwork concerning your earnings.
Ps — We only accept 2005 models and upwards

Why should you join Pull Up?
The answer to this is, why not? Your car makes money for you and you don’t have to drive it. You can focus on your work with the assurance that there’s a check coming in from your car every month. It’s a good way to also invest your money that guarantees returns, plus you get to meet amazing people from the community every once in a while. You’d be surprised who rents your car.
When asked about plans with the community, Temidayo said “We’ll surely get more cars on there”.
Have you a car and think you have what it takes to be a car owner. Then head on to pull Up to start earning some good cash on the side.
Perhaps you’re not a car owner. Drive to anywhere on a rental as a member of the Pull Up community. CLICK HERE (https://pullup.com.ng/cardetails/vUT9YluvtMRe8B2Rdc0p) to rent Temidayo and Steve’s car.

Jokes Etc / Nigerian School Tales...part II by Theix9: 9:46am On Jan 17, 2019
We’re done! Finally, teachers’ stress is over and we ‘don’ arrive. We’ve done the senior WAEC they’ve been shouting since; it’s now the time to be free, absolutely free.

welcome to the beginning of the rest of your life. What, at first, looked like a seemingly possible heaven, we didn’t know it was hellfire packaged in a beautiful gift box called ‘freedom’ or ‘university (tertiary institution)’.

The struggle begins. Quite a lot of people had the first hurdle easy, that’s WAEC. Like me (Thank God). But not everyone had good O’level results handed to them on a silver platter. That’s when I heard of what they call external special centres (they’re this amazing exam centres where you do your exams like classwork. Wait classwork? Nah! More like an introduction to a subject. There are levels to this).

After we did WAEC and we passed it, our confidence level increased. It was around this time, that computer training started sounding attractive and meaningful (that’s if you didn’t do it after our very useful ‘junior waec’, but for those that did the computer training by this time, it was mostly six months – the computer training diploma). All these while the ‘amateurs’ were on their diploma course in desktop publishing and stuff, the ‘experts’ were hustling to make some money y’know, get a job somewhere quickly for some months. While the ‘legends’ did nothing except sleep and eat the whole day.

A good read on a young man on the brink of losing faith, if not already lost in the supernatural being in the heat of war and on the brink of defeat.

This poem is written in form of paternal advice to the writer’s son. Enjoy and let it sink.

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or, being lied about, don’t deal in lies,

Or, being hated, don’t give way to hating,

And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;

If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;

If you can meet with triumph and disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same;

If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,

And stoop and build ’em up with worn out tools;

Jokes Etc / He Almost Got Slapped By A Body Builder by Theix9: 11:53am On Jan 11, 2019
Observe: a short story.

A young man works in a store where almost everything is sold (those ShopRite kind of stores). One day a huge guy came in, with his looks it was easy to tell he was a body builder. He asked for half a carton of beer. But it was protocol that the other half of the carton must also be sold immediately, the young man tried to explain to the huge guy, but the huge guy wouldn’t listen. Out of annoyance the young man walked quickly to the managers office, without the slightest knowledge that the huge guy was right behind him. He said to his manager There’s one idiot outside that won’t stop yelling that he wants half a carton of beer. And he turned around, (Horrors!.) His next statement?…. And this perfect gentleman would like the other half of the carton.

Three words saved his Ass that day.

Jokes Etc / She Was Raped By Her So Called Therapist by Theix9: 7:10pm On Jan 09, 2019
As soon as you’re through, she whispered to him. The food can wait. Lets go now. There were pointed coughs from the other guys, though a glare of mock daggers from Tim made them taper off. The cool autumn air that hit her as they stepped outside reminded her of how hot the inside of the restaurant was. They walked on for a few seconds in complete silence, Lydia not sure how she was supposed to proceed. The streets were mostly deserted, save for the occasional sprinting cat, drunk dog (yes, drunk dog) and homeless stray. See the stars, Tim whispered in her ears, making her jump slightly. They form the letter L tonight. Lydia glanced dubiously at the sky, not finding said pattern. I don’t think we’re looking the same sky. He gasped in mock outrage. You mean, you can’t see it?

She gave him a skeptical look. Is this another of those tactics that you boys use to try and impress girls? You should know that things like this is why I haven’t…No! Tim protested. Its just that, you’ve been on my mind lately, so maybe that’s why I’m seeing you everywhere I go. She retained the look. Come on, Lydia. There seemed to be genuine hurt in his eyes. You know I’m not like that. Lydia frowned at him. Now that you mention it, I realize that I know next to nothing about you. Except that your name is Timothy, and you’re a blacksmith/therapist.

Lets start from there. Come, he said instead. I have something to show you. They had only taken three turns when Lydia realized where they were headed: the smithy. Being a small village, they arrived there in no time at all and Tim unlocked the door, ushering her inside. It was surprisingly cool; she had only been there during the day, and had no idea the heat could ever disappear. The main product there was knives and other cutlery, which was reasonable since they had little use for swords and other weapons. There were knives of all sizes and shapes, ranging from the smallest butter knife to one that looked like a near relative of a meat cleaver, except a buffalo had cause to fear this one.

Close your eyes, Lydia. And turn around. Her heart began push-ups, but she obeyed. She felt her hair being pushed aside, and something cool came to rest between her breasts. Then his warm hands behind her neck. He turned her around, and she opened her eyes to see that it was a gold necklace set with a purple stone on the pendant and intricate inscriptions all around the setting. She was at a loss of words. The stone is amethyst. A precious stone, just like you. It seemed to reflect the light in some strange way, but Lydia paid no attention to that. I never knew I was a stone, she whispered. I didn’t mean….oh I’m just teasing you, she chuckled, lifting it for a closer look. Its beautiful. Where did you get it? He was also looking at it, and she knew he has a gorgeous view of her creamy swells, but for some reason she didn’t seem to mind. The stone’s beauty had her hypnotized.

It’s a family heirloom. The males give it to the people who are special to them. My father to my mother, and me to you. She looked up in surprise, but his lips silenced her. Unconsciously, she opened her mouth to the kiss, and when she felt his tongue slip into her mouth, she moaned. Then his hands began creeping up until they were rubbing the underside of her breasts. A voice of caution screamed somewhere in her head, but the passion strangled it. Taking her lack of no for a yes, the hand came up further to cup the entire breast. She froze for a second, but then it was feeling so good that she decided not to stop him. He lifted her to sit on a table, and continued for a few minutes. Wetness began flooding between her legs as she felt his hands go around her, seeking for the zipper of her dress.

The voice of caution won free of the passion’s headlock, screaming like a banshee in her head, and she pushed him away. What? why? He looked surprised and was breathing heavily, with a huge tent in front of his pants. The passion wanted to raise her curiosity as an ally, but the caution smacked it upside the head, gave it a smack-down and pinned it.

I’ve never… I’ve never done this before, she panted. Neither have I, but it’ll be fun. Come on! He attempted to pull her close, but she pushed him away. She was fairly certain he was lying with that first statement; his hands were too sure for a novice’s. What I meant to say, she said slowly. “Is that I am not yet ready. He looked at her like she’d just announced she was from Mars. What do you mean, sweet? No one is ever ready. You just have to take the leap. She shook her head. Not tonight, Tim. His expression changed. So now what? You go on being the only virgin left in this fucking town? Is that a crime? She retorted. And how could you be possibly sure that I’m the only one left? He sighed. It was a figure of speech, Lydia. Now come on, sweet, dont leave me hanging like this. I’m sorry, Tim. But I really can’t do this. He sneered at her. Can’t? Or wont?

Education / Did You Go To A Nigerian School? Read This by Theix9: 6:25am On Oct 29, 2018
I could ask anyone reading this, what was the original plan? And you'll hear something like this; when I was younger I wanted to become an astronaut and go to space and yen yen yen. Who didn't have that astronaut dream at one point in their lives, well......
Here we are, definitely not astronauts (if you are one, congratulations).

After the astronaut dream reality dawned on us, and we knew for sure that was an ever living fallacy. A new format started coming up fast. It usually sounds something like this "when I'm done with secondary school, I'll enter the university immediately and graduate,(some would include masters degree and PhD), get a job, get married, get kids and then live happily ever after". I'm sure it sounded something close to this for almost everyone (at least from where I come from, Nigeria). It was never our fault then, it was the product of some default hard wiring that was imprinted in our brains that that was the way it's supposed to go (if you had a different mentality as a Nigerian kid, you don't know how lucky you are).

The growing up process still followed the normal format, the mentality that we already have kept subconsciously leading our lives and well, what could we do? We couldn't even tell if it was entirely correct or even wrong.
The set dream would always feature a university degree and maybe a mentor in the field you wanna major in (you remember reading gifted hands and wanted to be a neurosurgeon? Them wole Soyinka people? Or the ones that wanted to be writers when they heard of Chinua Achebe's Nobel prize in literature?). It was normal then and even beyond normal, it was everything, it was the set dream.

Education / I Had To Smoke Weed At A House Party, My Weed Story by Theix9: 11:56pm On Jun 07, 2018
This episode started after the stressful exams in school,I had to just go for at least one party 'cos there was quite a lot. Low key and high key all join. Party is sha party.

Picked a house party. Bought the ticket. And tried to sleep during the day so I could be awake through the night. (Not like I slept).

And it began. Like half the squad and I leaving school really late because our taxi service had already bleeped us up as per we actually tried to leave early but couldn't. Last last we got to the venue.

Now here's the thing. My plan was to always get high before getting to the venue. So its more fun. (At least I thought). And I had just the thing for that.

I Was already speaking in some foreign tongues in the bus beside one girl‍♂. She was just looking at me like..."who's this?".

Then we got there.
Immediately we dropped into the venue. I got lost in transmission. Twas a house party now...what to expect than a thick cloud of weed smoke.
At first I couldn't see anything as per I was already on the bifrost (if you get me). But then it eventually became clearer.

Since the grand plan was to get bleeped up. I was up and running and gone through step 1. That's being high on the magical phenomenon tagged CHAKRA by The demon king himself.

What's step 2? Step 2 was to take a trip to the most high and off I went.

Jokes Etc / Say It. Mean It. Stand On It. by Theix9: 1:43am On Apr 23, 2018
Gonna start with this line I heard from a movie, think an Indian movie titled VEER. "Just like an arrow fired can't be taken back, so is something you say, can't be taken back". A bullet fired can't also be taken back. A football shot can't be taken back.

And interpreting that in the most literal sense of it actually applies in real life.
Words said are it. No reversal.
Written things can be erased or deleted or last last burnt.

Now words carry a whole lot of weight, so much weight to weigh the heaviest person down or to lift them up.
Saying certain things to people who tend to care about what it is you have to say is tricky, why because whatever you say gets to them. Say painful things, they get hurt. Say beautiful things, they get well...beautiful.

Main point. "I mean what I say and I say only things I mean" (Dice Ailes).
What do you say? There's the whole talkative thing where we just blab out some things out of well, normal talks. But, what are the things you say, to yourself, to others. The little motivation you give yourself? Or the downgrading words you say to yourself or others at that.
The "once in a lifetime" sentence or phrase you say out of anger and BAM!, that's it. You've said it and no amount of apologies will reverse it. Or the "I believe in you" you say out of pure belief in you or someone else and that's it, you're good to go.
