You DC fans are a delusional lot. There won't be a sequel unless Dune does well commercially. Nothing is confirmed yet.
You are the one being delusional here.

You think that a movie that has one of the highest trailer views won't do well on streaming?

And please don't bring BO here because so far several movies have flopped at the BO and yet still got a sequel (e.g Cruella)

Dune is a great sci-fi book, but unfortunately people don't care about that. This movie cannot rely on people knowing the story and wanting to see it adapted in a movie, it needs to put butts in seats based on its own merits and I don't know if it has the legs for it. Bottom line, it's highly probable Dune is going to flop.
Oga, most movies have flopped during the pandemic. That's nothing new.

Jungle Cruise is a flop at cinemas but doing well on streaming and Disney is happy with that.

So, tell us something new

Sure. Dune 2 is a almost confirmed.

Any Big movie that does well with the critics and general audience with decent BO is getting promoted in this era at WB.
Exactly.

Especially when WB knew the risk of throwing the movie on streaming. What the need is to use this movie to boost HBOmax subscription numbers the more and increase their revenue.

Next year is when the real battle of streaming begins.

All streaming services are releasing their big guns

It's even earlier than your sensationalist article.
Don't mind him. Maybe he thought we won't scrutinize the article.

Even Dennis knows that he will get a part 2 because the studio has said that they love it and a part 2 is already secured.

James Gunn too was not happy about tss on HBOmax. So, it ain't no big deal especially when other studios like Disney are adopting HBOmax parterns

July 29.

I find it kinda weird that in this pandemic WB and Disney is taking their beef a notch higher. They both placing Tentpole movies against each other next year. Black Adam vs Indiana Jones in 2022 (same day release).
Aquaman 2 vs Avatar 2 (days apart).
I love the competition (it's been there). It's healthy and gives room to watch more movies

Next year.

We have The Batman, Flash, Black Adam and Aquaman 2(my most anticipated movie) coming out in 2021.

We also have either Black Canary, blue beetle, Batgirl or static shock coming out on HBOmax as well cool
TV/MoviesRe: DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE (FILM) by TheKingIsHere: 9:27pm On Aug 25, 2021
For those that still underrate Titans, the show entered number 1 spot in the US on demand in it's first week. It maintained the position in it's second week.

Take note that despite all the fake noise, Wandavision got the number one spot in it's 5/6 episode while Falcon and the winter soldier got there in like the final episode.

Maximum respect once again to DC Titans!! cool

DC Titans season 3 has been amazing so far.

I really love the costume upgrade especially for Kory. It's good they gave her a short skirt and maintained her sexy looks.

The fight between dick and red hood was great but short. They should've made it longer. Overall, great episode.

Top 5?
Yeah. On HBOmax here are the ranking;

1. Mortal Kombat
2. The suicide squad
3. GvK
4. WW84
5. ZSJL

The MK franchise is huge!! I hope Dune will be able to knock it out of the number 1 spot

On VOD yes but on HBOmax the answer is no as Mortal Kombat is still the most watched movie on HBOmax, followed by the suicide squad.

I inferred 100m myself considering it did it's heavy streaming on D+
VOD had it at $30....Most families streamed via D+... If majority revenue came for D+....100 seems a reasonable conclusion....

Saw it's marketing cost Disney 100 mill....
Considering the movie didn't open in China and some Asian markets...The Cinema studio split in USA and Europe is much more favourable compared to the aforementioned Asian territories....The marketing and budget is covered..
Streaming is where they made a steal...
I agree with the bolded.

Streaming is where the money is but unfortunately, Disney won't be able to make that steal since they didn't settle the mcu actors/directors involved. That's why the likes of Shang chi and Eternals will now go to cinemas only

The 369m was only box office......It made further 125 million on Disney+.....Make of that what you will Sir...
The article also clearly states that Majority would have come from D+.....At least 100m....VOD sales were still put at $30....I think...The point is...D+ made money from Black Widow....
The article never said that, or can you show me where it was stated?

And the split between Disney and other parties in this scenario is 85/15....In other words... Majority of generated revenue went to them...
I aint denying the spilt but at the end, you have to factor in marketing, production cost and also Scarlet J's law suit.

It is clearly stated in the article that it is D+ and VOD-specific transactions.

This is NOT D+ alone.

You think if D+ made that much from one movie they won't throw all their mcu movies for this year to D+?

MCU as a brand can do these numbers....
Don't know why accepting this is difficult...
It's almost as if DCEU stans want the MCU movies to fail...
Lol, what will I gain for MCU movies to fail? Will I be paid?

If you don't know, HBOmax is making more in revenue than whatever noise you're hearing, that's why WB execs are pleased with the performance of the suicide squad.

They know how much they'll make already.

He doesn't abi nor be minemrys again. They all just conjure figures out of thin air

BW total D+ is $67m and they made only $30m in revenue from it. It's people that don't know how all these works will just get carried away by all the noise.

BTW, SJ lawsuit will clean that $30m up. That's why the likes of Shang shi and Eternals are strickly cinemas because disney can't afford to pay any other law suit

The bolded is false. Black widow made $67 million in Disney+ Premier Access global revenue. Also, they will end up losing everything with the Scarllet law suit.

Raalsalghul:
If it was a success, then WB should announce a sequel: that alone is enough to tell us the movie was profitable.
After WW84 was released, a sequel was announced, does that mean that WW84 was a success at the BO?

Also, GvK was highly profitable and a huge success both at cinemas and HBOmax, yet a sequel is not yet announced. This is enough to show you that the bolded is not exactly true.

Also, what metrics would you use to measure that the film was successful prior to its release and then subsequently conclude that Warner Bros ordered the series because of that?
Any movie that brings profit to a studio is successful. For example, WW84 and BW failed at the BO but both were a huge success on their respective streaming platforms which generated a lot of revenue for the studio.

For someone learned, I would have expected you would have done some basic google search before coming up with this nonsense that Peacemaker series was greenlighted because The Suicide Squad was successful: a project that was still about a year from release.
Lol, do you think WB will approve a spin off tv show to a movie they don't regard as being a success? cheesy

But as an antidote to your ignorance on this issue, I would you tell that Peacemaker started as a fun project for James Gunn after which Warner Bros approached him requesting if there's any character in The Suicide Squad he would like to create a spin off series for. Mind you, they made such request because they were looking at expanding their upcoming HBO slate.
Lol, that doesn't change the fact that Gunn wrote peacemaker after WB was impressed with TSS. Gunn only wrote peacemaker when Hamada told him to make a spin-off show with any of the characters. Gunn wrote the peacemaker towards completion of shooting TSS.

Also, take note that even Kevin Feige was invited by Gunn to the production scene and kevin was impressed.

So that your excuse of Warner Bros ordering Peacemaker series because The Suicide Squad was successful is null and void.
Lol, it isn't, as WB also sees The Batman as a success and greenlighted several spin-off shows to feature on HBOmax.

For how long would you people go on with this "Pandemic" excuse?
As long as there is a pandemic hitting the major markets (which is the US and China in second), it is a valid reason.

Are you telling me that we've not had successful films this year.

1. Godzilla V Kong was released on HBO Max and theatres worldwide simultaneously: it made money on both platforms.

2. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, also released on HBO Max and theatres worldwide simultaneously and still made money.

So the above examples which are all Warner Bros projects have ruled out your pandemic excuse.
At least you know that these movies are owned by WB. However, these two movies came out when the pandemic was at an all time low this year. The delta variant came at closer around July ending /August which was the period that TSS was going to be released.

Secondly, TSS is an R rated movie unlike GvK which was assisted with BO boost from China. For The conjuring, it is a low budget movie and a highly popular franchise, so it was bound to do well

Show me a link in which Warner Bros have come out to say The Suicide Squad was successful and by link, I don't mean all this "dem say, dem say" Hollywood bloggers: what I mean is a communique from one of Warner Bros' platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Website etc).
You can see yourself. Have I not told you guys severally that WB uses 3rd party to send their messages across? If you want evidence from 3rd party news that WB stated they are happy with the success of TSS, I can give you.

You know what? Scratch that!

You can come up with a "dem say dem say" blog link stating that The Suicide Squad was successful and I'll come up with 20 others stating its utter disappointment.
Actually, it came out of the HBOmax Chief, Andy Forssell, as numerous articles quoted him.

So, I expect you to provide the article quoting Andy Forssell stating that it is a disappointment. (DONT DISAPPOINT ME)

This is the only reasonable thing you've said so far which begs the question, what perspective should I see it from?.
You dey make me laugh cheesy anyways see things from a management and business perspective.

The only thing that matters to these guys is "money, money and more money" and until a sequel is announced/production started, I refuse to believe this film made any positive impact to their studio.
GVK made money but a sequel is yet to be announced. Does that mean that the movie didn't make any positive impact to the studio? lol

I'm very sure you know announcing a sequel is the gold standard to measure the profitability of a film as per Hollywood standard.

I don't see how the above information relates to The Suicide Squad.
No it isn't.

As I mentioned, GvK is among the most successful movie this year, yet a sequel is yet to be announced. Disney greenlit a cruella sequel despite the movie flopping at the BO and on D+.

So, NO. That is not the gold standard

Bros, except season 2. Be honest for once, just cause you like season 2 doesn't mean the show is anything special. Legends of tomorrow has been winning awards too, just saying.
I am being honest as I have posted the evidence here several times. Titans (season 1 and 2) was amongst the top 10 trending on demand show in the US for 2 fvcking years straight. And you wanna compare it with LOT? Dey fear God na.

But what I like is that, the writers upped their game in season 3. The show has been good so far but they better wrap that black fire storyline cause that plot seems to be a boring one, it's kinda making the star fire actress look dull, especially when playing vulnerable.
Yeah, the writing, the costumes and everything got upped due to HBO money and so far, I don't see a problem with Black fire storyline cos that's what fans wanted (go to DCTitans page). Abi, dey shouldn't give the fans what they want?

WB regarded it as a massive success before the movie came out , thats why they greenlighted the peacemaker TV show, remember? undecided

What? Is it with the 120 million dollars that it made at the international box office on a budget of 185 mill. sad
Where you expecting this movie to break box office records in a pandemic?

I'm cocksure with those figures, the suits at WB are already in panic mode so all these news snippets to me are just posturing. embarassed
