You are so sure of this. And yet, when I ask what can you do to prevent or reduce ASUU's excesses, no answer from you...
I didn't answer you because your question was funny. How would you ask me what I can do when I am already doing something? By informing and speaking out on this thread and other social media fora, I am already doing something. So please ask another question

adrandan: You really shown that u dont understand unionism...the leader must consult his constituency b4 taking vital decisions that directly affects them...ASUU is closer to the masses than u think...they are also average Nigerians like u and i ..thank God they can arrest the govt as they are doing now..Also, they may have their own lapses but the fact still remains that the govt need to understand its duties and perform it if it wants to avoid this kind of mess...Let us support ASUU we can still trust them better than an average Nigerian politician in office...
We will not support ASUU. they are on a cheap blackmail campaign

ferdimako: But when folks who cheat right from their O'levels get admitted. How can they challenge what they are being taught? You get the kind of lecturers that you deserve............so why would the system improve? Answer!
You are a real irony! When folks cheat, is ASUU not part of the cheating? Are they not the ones who students go to for blocking? Since when did ASUU become the victims? This is all politics my friend. Why did ASUU not protest against Fashola's increase of school fees by 100% if they really care about students? WHen Fashola used the police to harras students, why did ASUU not come to their defense? Yeye ASUU! Criminals
PoliticsRe: Suswam: ASUU Wants To Bring Down Jonathan’s Government by theoctopus: 2:15pm On Nov 09, 2013
chemashie: Your MUMUism has gone beyond this planet. Fashola sacked doctors only in Lagos State and re-absorbed them the moment he knew such policy can not stand. You expect FG to sack all lecturers in all the federal universities across the country and replace them with who? With unemployed graduates like you? Why are you DAFT like this?
Shut up my friend! Are the lecturers in the schools better than the people on the streets? Is it not notes they read to students in class? I can teach more than mostof them. SMH! So many lecturers in the northern schools, for example, cannot speak good English, yet they are beneficiaries of this strike. Abeg tell me another thing joor! grin

ferdimako: You're as bad as your lecturers..........why would they bother to improve? Look at your words.
Who told you ASUU wants to improve? Or maybe you mean improve their pockets with more dollars! cheesy

If you didn't, I would advise you read what you quoted, to get the totality of my post.
ASUU are criminals, and the FG are saints....... grin grin grin
So if the FG are criminals, ASUU should join them in the scam and steal from us too? Please tell me more
Hope you will be lucky enough to have the sort of motivations *I* have for doing my job. I think a fair number of people "know" enough about me on Nairaland to know what you just said is hokum.

What I have found is that people who have nothing to offer are those who complain the loudest. Truly intelligent folks are usually busy working out and putting forward *concrete* suggestions, not lying down and wallowing in the obvious.
Your claim to some sort of pseudo intelligence is very laughable. You hold an opinion that is in your one selfish interest and claim anyone who calls you out is less intelligent. SMH! Typical opposition style!

chemashie: If you don't know when ASUU/FG reached an agreement in 2009 during Yar'Adua tenure and the MOU signed btw GEJ and ASUU in 2012 you should stay clear of this debate.
Stop spewing lies! GEJ was not a party to the 2009 agreement. He was not a part of the negotiating team nor did he sign the diabolical agreement on behalf of the FG! The 2009 agreement was a fraud. It was a negotiation between ASUU and ASUU. Yaradua accepted that agreement to avoid wahala and that was what David Mark said the other day! THe difference now is that GEJ is telling them to their face, it is not implementable and must be reviewed. That is the real sign that he is ready to implement what ever they agree! If he not ready to implement it, he might as well agree like Yaradua, dole out what he can now and ignore them later. So easy!
PoliticsRe: Suswam: ASUU Wants To Bring Down Jonathan’s Government by theoctopus: 2:03pm On Nov 09, 2013
chemashie: Now I see how your brain works. FG should start a fresh recruitment of lecturers? You need to format/reformat your brain to process very well.
Stop making noise! IF Fashola can sack medical doctors in Lagos, FG can sack the dumb lecturers with their 1960 lecture notes! What do they know? Many of them are outdated! They are the problem of education in Nigeria

EducationRe: ASUU Gives New Conditions To FG by theoctopus: 1:59pm On Nov 09, 2013
Kingsleyinfo: Truth be told, this issue goes both ways.
Firstly I would put responsibility on the hands of the FG.
They must do the needful, and carve out a sustainable structure
For the educational sector. Enough of all these lies, the government should
Be the one making policies to better the educational standards of our universities.
ASUU is only doing what the FG has refused to do.

If we had a functional rather than a political ministry of education, my guess would
Be that ASUU would be given standards to meet up to not the other way round. They have
Every right to demand for documents, govt. should not politicise this issue, its not time to, act like they care, when the only thing they want to do is give a public show. We are tired of these movies.

As one who has passed through the Nigerian system of education, I can relate with what ASUU is demanding.
If the FG is sincere they would look critically into the issue and develop a frame work that is both practicable, and repeatable. Bring all the stakeholders together, and speak the truth for once, then deliver on your promise, with a clause in the document, that would also hold ASUU or who ever is at the receiving end accountable.

Truth be told, the entire educational system needs to be overhauled, not just funded alone. There is the need for a complete structural, and intellectual adjustment.

All parties involved are culpable for the rot in the educational system, so everyone should clean her eyes first.

After four months of students staying at home, its better they get a solid agreement, than a mushroom arrangement, just because they want school to resume.

Call it tough love, or whatever, things just have to change.
What is a solid agreement? For ASUU to control the university lands and infrastructure and retire at 70 years? ASUU are cheap criminals on a blackmail mission. so sad!
EducationRe: ASUU Gives New Conditions To FG by theoctopus: 1:56pm On Nov 09, 2013
I was getting a little irritated myself about the long silence from ASUU since the meeting with GEJ. Given the OP's post however, I see things differently now. If we need to take a few extra days and steps to make sure we won't have to go on another protracted strike in the next few years, so be it. I'm happy that most folks here seem to share the same view.
Why will you not support this kind of open-ended political strike with the false claim that it will end strikes forever! Are there not strikes in America and Europe? SMH

kokoA: Mr man, my masters programme is currently on hold so I currently feel the impact of the strike even more than anybody here. During my undergraduate years, I used to kick against ASUU only because I wanted to graduate on time, but having had experience after school and interacted with graduates from foreign and even some private schools in Nigeria I choose to stand with ASUU on this. Running an MSc. Programme in one of the so called "most prestigious universities" in Africa and I don have access to a good lab to do my research, no teaching aids or equipments to carry out practical, we receive lectures under conditions not fit for animals even at MSc level, don't even talk about the hostels.. Our higher education is so poor.. Its a big shame on our country. Some drastic needs to be done.
The only drastic thing that needs to be done is to sack all lecturers and do a new recruitment. Thatz all!
PoliticsRe: Suswam: ASUU Wants To Bring Down Jonathan’s Government by theoctopus: 1:50pm On Nov 09, 2013
chemashie: What concession are you even talking about? Where is the 100b promised by the Suswan committee? Why did the same FG released 30b to Universities and directed the governing councils to share the money amongst lecturers?
Prof. Awuzie who used the platform for his selfish interest would have called off the strike immediately the 30b was released to lecturers. This is the main reasons all lecturers will continue to hold Faggae in high esteem for holding on to his words even in the presence of GEJ. Have you wondered why Awuzie was not invited in the course of the negotiation?
Stop being sentimental and ask questions when you don't understand.
You are talking nonsense my friend! The FG has given cocessions as required. Did you expect that GEJ will come to the negotiations table with the cash? What crap are you saying? Whatever the FG has proposed would have to be appropriated for. You think GEJ can just order the CBN to hand over cash to ASUU? Is ASUU fighting for students? Stop hiding under the students banner! When has ASUU ever fought for Nigerians students? Are they not the biggest oppressors of students? How can lecturers who maltreat students be claiming they are fighting for the interest of students You think you can fool anyone with that line? ASUU is fighting for their pockets. They are asking for lands and ownership of university infrastructure. How is that in the students interest? They are asking for 70 years as retirement age. How is that also for the benefit of the students? They are on strike over allowances. Some of the allowances are very stup1d like exam supervision allowance. What is their job if FG have to pay them for supervising students in exams? Criminals and charlatans claiming they are fighting for a better Nigeria. What will we not see in this country. Even Melaye says he is an anti corruption activist! SMH!

chemashie: You us the proof that the strike has been hijacked by opposition as you have claimed in your comments so far or kill yourself.
The proof is there for you to see. They have refused to go back to class with all the concession the FG has given them. When have you ever seen an industrial action where one party insists that all its demands be met 100%? That is proof that it is political. simple!

howfarwhatagwan: Well done ASUU I pray God gives you victory in this fight. It is very sad today when I sit in my class today with students from other countries and I continuously see the gaps/loopholes in my first degree sometimes it is embarrassing but thank God we now have so many opportunities to increase our knowledge outside the classroom, these opportunities are non-existent in the Nigerian education sector. Very sad that students have to loose so much time but the injustice done to our education system is mind blowing I plead with Nigerian students to be patient and if possible rise up to also fight the Government this may seem like a battle between ASUU and FGN but it is not it is actually between FGN and Nigerian citizens
Liar! Is ASUU not the main reason for bad education? When they harrass ladies and collect money to give marks, is it the FG that asked them to do it?

kokoA: ASUU should end the strike because Ebele has "offered" them much?! Lol.. I laugh in swahili.. Thesame FG that signed an agreement years back and failed to keep it. Only a fool will take government's offering seriously. I support ASUU to take their time to consider the offer and look for practical ways of squeezing the government's "balls" to ensure that they implement the offer.. You don't call off a strike simply because the president stayed up late to negotiate on behalf of his government. Who send am by the way? He could still have conveyed his message through his ministers and other representatives.. This issue is above sentiments! The right thing must be done.
And the right thing is keeping students at home? Most of you have already politicized the strike even here on NL. So it confirms what Suswam says that the strike is political. Let them keep at it and we will see who looses
EducationRe: ASUU Gives New Conditions To FG by theoctopus: 12:03pm On Nov 09, 2013
Isnt it funny that ASUU have made demands that they dont think the FG has money to fufill? ASUU are actually indicting themselves here. They are asking where the money will come from but still go ahead and demand it. Now you know the whole thing is politically motivated. No doubt anymore

PoliticsWho Are The New PDP? by theoctopus(op): 11:41am On Nov 09, 2013
For a while now, some sections of the media have been calling a rebel faction of the PDP, the new PDP. This really makes me laugh anytime I read such articles that refer to them as the New PDP. The question is, who are the new PDP? What makes them the new PDP. From the list of people who are part of this group, they are actually the old PDP

OBJ, Atiku, Lamido, Wamakko, Kwakwanso, Baraje, Oyinlola. This are the old PDP members. Why on earth do they call themselves the new PDP?

The whole show of shame is very hilarious!

The real new PDP is GEJ! He is a complete shift from the old guard and it really speaks volume when you look at the list of people opposing him. For OBJ and his co travelers to really be against GEJ, that tells me he has really changed the system and is doing so many things right. When your enemies are the bad guys, then you are on point!

sagombugo: Such a naïve post from you

If indeed Kwara Gov joins APC,in economic terms they have made gains.

Pray of what use is one fighting to death to retrieve a LG when you can have the whole state on a platter of Diamond?

If someone stole your Car but came around to dash you his whole house including your stolen car, would you reject it?

Did APC contest and won election in Imo state they now control thereby saving billions that would ordinarily have been sunk in supporting a candidate that you can't be too sure if PDP and INEC will not rig out?

Or did PDP win Abia state which was under PPA before he decamped to it and have now kept for abt 6years

Why didn't PDP reject T.A Orji from joining their fold?

Political parties gain power via elections or decampment

In politics 1+1 don't always equals 2...
You are deviating from the point. Why do they need bad leaders from PDP is they are truly the messiah party? Very simple question!

The INDIANS who accommodated Nigerians in their land or OUR GOVERNMENT who refused to put basic social amenities in place?

When you answer this question justly, you will know who to channel your anger on.
Something must be wrong with some of you. Are there not thousands of Indians living in Nigeria? Is it because their government didnt put basic amenities in place? What is really wrong with some of you and your inferiority complex that you hate yourself so much. Very pathetic post from you. If you dont have anything to post, just shut up!

What is sadder than this news are the responses on this thread. It is sickening. Some of you on this thread should be deported from Nigeria. You hate us so much, yet you ask us for our votes. If I open my mouth, I will not stop insulting some of you. You are just disgusting. If the picture of that guy in a pool of blood does not move you enough to anger and instead, you talk about how Nigerians are bad, how someones grammar is incorrect and how Nigerian government is bad, then you should renounce your Nigerian citizenship and leave us alone. WHat are you lot saying? Spain, Greece, Italy and France are in serious economic trouble and people can hardly eat 3 square meals a day. Even the UK now is on the edge. There is serious poverty in Europe and the truth is, their system is failing. Even the US has rising poverty rates. People now eat from the rubbish bin. There was a news item last week of a police woman who gave a woman thief 100 dollars to feed her children, instead of arresting her for theft because she was just too touched. Those who say the @op is lying are either Nigerians in diaspora who want people to believe all is well or Nigerians back home who still think traveling abroad is the solution to the predicaments
