Crime / Fulani Herdsmen Kill Two Christian Teenage Girls In Southern Kaduna by TheOutlaw: 7:24am On Jan 26, 2020
Muslim Fulani herdsmen killed two young Christian women in southern Kaduna state, Nigeria, just weeks after members of the same terrorist group killed 13 and wounded three Christians in a neighboring town.

According to Morning Star News, Briget Philip, 18, and Priscilla David, 19, were killed by herdsmen on motorbikes who rode into Gora-Gan village in Zango Kataf County at about 5 p.m. shooting villagers on sight.

“Both girls, who were secondary school pupils, worshiped at the Catholic parish of Gora-Gan,” local resident Luka Biniyat told the outlet.

Also wounded in the attack on the predominantly Christian community were 18-year-old Henry Jonathan, 19-year-old Benjamin Peter, and Goodluck Andawus, 12, he said, adding that the herdsmen attacked when people flocked to the village square where evangelism and social activities are held.

“As the people fled into nearby bushes to take cover, the attackers retreated and left,” area resident Solomon John told Morning Star News. “We are sad about these attacks on our people, which seem to be unending.”

Just two weeks earlier, a gang of 20 armed Fulani Muslim herdsmen attacked the predominantly Christian village of Kulben in Central Nigeria, killing 13 and wounding three, according to Morning Star News.

All of the victims were members of the Church of Christ in Nations.

They were shooting with guns in all directions, forcing the villagers to scamper into surrounding bushes," area resident Michael Mutding said. "Corpses of those killed have been evacuated by soldiers and police to the mortuary of Mangu Cottage Hospital, and all the victims are members of COCIN."

Audu Tetmut, a 60-year-old area leader of the Christian community, said there had never been any problem between his people and herdsmen living in the area.

"Our community had lived peacefully with the herdsmen without any issues of dispute with them," Tetmut told Morning Star News. "So we are surprised that they attacked us."

In 2019, over 1,000 Christians were killed in Nigeria as attacks by Fulani extremists continue to plague rural farming communities in the Middle Belt, according to estimates published by the U.K.-based nongovernmental organization Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust.

There was a rise in Fulani extremist attacks in the Kaduna state in 2019 after Christians were accused of a reprisal attack on a Fulani settlement that killed as many as 131 in February.

Nomadic Fulani herdsmen “seek to replace diversity and difference with an Islamist ideology which is imposed with violence on those who refuse to comply. It is — according to the Nigerian House of Representatives — genocide,” Baroness Cox told the Christian Institute.

Persecution watchdog Open Doors USA ranks Nigeria at No. 12 on its 2020 World Watch List of countries where it is most difficult to be a Christian.

Open Doors CEO David Curry said during a news conference last week that Nigeria still represents the most violent country in the world for Christians as far as the organization’s data can track.

“I think it is wrong to look at [Fulani] as simply having territorial issues,” Curry said. “They have an ideology that is historically been radicalized and they have an agenda to push Christians out of these communities. The cover story that somehow these are their ancient lands and so forth doesn’t justify unlawful behavior against Christians who live there.”

He criticized Nigeria’s government for its inability to control the violence perpetrated by both Muslim Fulani Herdsmen and the Islamic extremist group Boko Haram across the country.

“The great tragedy of Nigeria’s ineffectual response to Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen is now parts of Cameroon and those other areas like Burkina Faso are greatly affected,” Curry said.

They are following in the footsteps of their evil prophet Muhammad plain and simple.

unmask:
when we can't separate issues we certainly won't get to the root cause. This isn't a religion issue. This is some evil elements using religion as a means of perpetrating evil. These people kill Muslims and Christians alike......

I think it is a great disservice to other muslims that are good and law abiding to lump them with criminals.

If you know Islam so well, can you show me evidence of the Quran asking Muslims to treat non-Muslims as second class and third class citizens?

I will also like to see evidences of verses (preferably in English) that state that Muslims must kill non-Muslims without provocation.

Ever heard about Abdul Ghaffar Khan? Ever heard about Sufi Islam and the effect it had even on a pacifist like Mahatma Gandhi?

Politics / Re: Leah Sheribu Gives Birth To Baby Boy For Boko Haram Commander by TheOutlaw: 11:43pm On Jan 25, 2020
You obviously don't know anything about Islam that's why you're commenting with such profound ignorance.

Everything Shekau does is text book, action for action imitation of muhammad's life.

The so-called good muslims you're talking about are only good for as long as they decide not to embrace and practice all the aspects of Islam, such as the one which tells them to treat non muslims as second class or even third class citizens.

BluntBoy:

First of all, I don't do religion. I am a believer in Christ, and so, I only do Christ.

I know what religion can do to people. I have seen the effects even on Christians here on Nairaland who will place a curse on you for saying any bad thing against their pastors who are mere men.

There are good Muslims out there. If you have traveled as much as I have traveled, then you would understand that there are very good Muslims out there.

There are Muslims also in our military who do their jobs of clearing this mess called Boko Haram. One of them was Colonel Ali who lost his life fighting against Boko Haram. He was loved by both Christian and Muslim soldiers who had fought side by side with him.

Another good Muslim is Imam Abubakar Abdullahi who saved 262 Christians from being massacred in Plateau.

When he was asked why he did it. This was what he said:

"God created mankind differently, but he wants us to live together in peace and harmony, and not harm each other.”
https://thisisafrica.me/africans-rising/nigerian-cleric-international-religious-freedom-award/

If all Muslims are bad as you imply, then how come an Imam would save 262 Christians? He did not even consider his own safety or the safety of his family. Instead, he put his own life at risk to save the lives of strangers who were not even of his own religion.

He did that not because he is a good Muslim. He did it because he is a good man.

Shekau does not kill because he is a Muslim. He kills because he is a bad man.

Have you tried to read about Shekau a little bit? Shekau had a good Imam to teach him Islam when he was young. But he ran away and he and some other boys went to enroll in the school of an Imam who taught them about the jihad and all that nonsense.

There was/is a woman whom people call Mama Boko Haram. She knows the beginning of Boko Haram. You can browse about her and see how that nonsense called Boko Haram began in the early 2000.

Northerners are not the most intelligent politicians in this country. If they were any intelligent leaders in the North they would be a lot better off than the cauldron of poverty and wretchedness that is Northern Nigeria.

You seem to be mistaking the ability of Northerners to win the presidency as a sign of intelligence.

The only reason why Northern politicians win the presidency regularly has more to do with the fact that they have a large block vote made up of largely illiterate, ignorant masses who will vote for them like obedient sheep.

It is only in the South that we engage in debates over policies and agenda. The northern voter will just vote because he was told to vote and because he is voting for a fellow Muslim. Whether the candidate has educational qualifications or intellectual capacity doesn't bother them. That is why Buhari is our head of state today.

Justinlean02:
Here we go again with the North and the Violence...
There's one obvious truth about Nigeria politics and the master mind or let's say well crafted game plan by the British to the Northerners before handing over power to them pro Independence that is, "instigate hate between the two most peaceful tribe" chose one as you wish and watch them bicker while you ripe them apart. This situation is always a win for the West or y'all think they're blind to the ills and atrocities going on in Nigeria
It's obvious the North has this natural hate with the Igbo but the hate between the Igbos and Yoruba is becoming annoying here on Nairaland. As intelligent and smart as they both claim they've refused to open their eyes to the real problem facing the Nation 'The North'. The North, these folks are the most intelligent politicians there is in Nigeria but they are lacking in some vital areas which breads progression and advancement due to their religion affiliations. No offence as I'm not trying to sound tribalistic here, The North are the real problem of Nigeria as they've dragged this nation backwards with their religious fanaticism and backwardness. They've refused to advance... Well make I drop here una know the rest, I no be preacher but make our conscience guide us all

Listen.

I have absolutely no hatred in my heart towards anyone I meet online regardless of what tribe they come from.

But I honestly and sincerely believe that Islam is a false and evil ideology. It destroys and it deceives at the same time. No other ideology in the world right now encourages its followers to dehumanise and maltreat other human beings simply for not being a part of its group. In this country on a daily basis people are murdered, young girls cannot go to school for fear that they will be kidnapped and raped, millions are living in IDP Camps etc All these evils have a common islamic thread connecting them.

That should be a source of worry for any decent human being to be concerned about.

Politics / Boko Haram Kills 5 People In Fresh Attacks by TheOutlaw: 8:12pm On Jan 24, 2020
Boko Haram reportedly kills five in Borno

ON JANUARY 24

Gunmen from the Boko Haram jihadist group killed five people and abducted several others as they collected firewood in restive northeast Nigeria, security sources said Friday.

Fighters opened fire on the group as they fetched wood on Thursday outside the town of Dikwa, 90 kilometres (55 miles) from the regional capital Maiduguri, an anti-jihadist militia leader, Babakura Kolo, told AFP.

“A group gathered and went outside the town to collect firewood but Boko Haram terrorists attacked them, killing five of them,” Kolo said.

“The loggers fled and some of them were abducted by the attackers while trying to escape.”

Dikwa is home to more than 70,000 people displaced by the jihadist violence who live in several camps where they rely on food and humanitarian assistance from aid agencies.

Many have turned to felling trees from the surrounding bushland to sell as firewood to make money to buy extra provisions.

The decade-long jihadist conflict has killed 36,000 people and displaced around two million from their homes in the northeast.

Boko Haram have increasingly targeted loggers, herders and fishermen in their violent campaign, accusing them of spying and passing information to the military and the local militia fighting them.

A rival jihadist faction has split from Boko Haram to pledge allegiance to the Islamic State group.

Even if they didn't draw the tribal marks themselves, doesn't that mean their parents will be punished in hellfire for disfiguring the faces of their children?

And shouldn't the fact that they have tribal markings on their faces be a visible sign that muhammad had disqualified people like them from leadership positions in Islam?

Sports / Ex U-17 Little "Messi" Now Clubless And Roaming Lagos Streets by TheOutlaw: 3:25pm On Jan 16, 2020
Once called Little Messi, Now Club less, Last seen on the streets of Lagos! Where is Stanley Okoro?

Jan 15, 2020

When it comes to FIFA age-grade competitions, a lot of youngsters have taken advantage of it by becoming the stars they have always dreamed of while some will never go past that stage.

It will be unfair to blame all the Players who had Potentials and never made it past the competitions. Some might be due to injuries, some might be due to bad football agent while some are not just good enough.

Stanley Okoro showed himself to the world during the 2009 Fifa U-17 World Cup in Nigeria. He was nicknamed little Messi due to the very similar characteristics he had with Lionel Messi.

Okoro became a shadow of his former self after the competition. Many believed it was due to his falsified age while many believed he was never really good.

Immediately after the tournament, he got a deal with Spanish Club, Almeria, where he had to play with the Juvenile team due to his young age before being allowed to play with the reserve team.

He never had a chance to prove himself in Spain and that was how the retrogression started for Okoro. He was then loaned Cherno More, where he made 19 appearances and scored 2 goals.

His time in Europe came to an end after series of failed trials which made him settle for the Nigerian Professional Football League.

In 2016, Stanley Okoro signed for Abia Wariors, he also didn't convince the club and was shown the exit door. Another opportunity came for him at Plateau United in Nigeria where he was eventually released too.

Stanley Okoro's whereabouts are currently don't unknown since he was last spotted roaming the streets of Lagosthe where he has become a shadow of his former self. I hope to meet him soon and hear from him personally.

18 year old Stanley Okoro as an Almeria player in 2010

Sports / Breaking News From Barca Website: Valverde Sacked! Replaced By Quique Setien by TheOutlaw: 11:34pm On Jan 13, 2020
Quique Setien has been chosen to take over as Barcelona coach from Ernesto Valverde.

The Barcelona board approved the decision for the 61-year-old to become the new Blaugrana boss unanimously, with the former Betis coach's stock having gone up since this morning.

Barring any surprises, Setien will become the new Barcelona boss.

A frenetic day at Barcelona began in the morning when Valverde took his last training session at noon, then president Josep Maria Bartomeu informed him that his time with the club was over.

By the afternoon, and after a tense board meeting, Setien was chosen as coach until June.

The contract details are yet to be finalised, but no problems are expected and Setien's agent is already in Barcelona.

Meet The New Boss...

FC Barcelona and Quique Setién have reached an agreement for the latter to become first team coach until 30 June 2022.

Below are details of his presentation:

Tuesday, 14 January

- 1.30pm CET contract signing in the President Suñol box in a private event.

- 2.00pm, photo session on the pitch at Camp Nou.

- 2.30pm, presentation and press conference in the Auditori 1899.

The new coach

61 year old Quique Setién will be the new FC Barcelona coach. The man from Cantabria in the north of Spain comes to Barça after having had spells at Racing Santander, Poli Ejido, Logroñés, Lugo, Las Palmas and Betis, his previous club in the 2018/19 season. Throughout his career he has been a proponent of possession based, attacking football that has been attractive to the fans.

As a player Setién was a midfielder who excelled with Racing Santander over 12 seasons in two separate spells. He also featured for Atlético Madrid where he won the Spanish Super Cup as well as enjoying spells at Logroñés and Levante.

Vast experience

Quique Setién is one of the most experienced coaches in Spanish Football. The coach from Santander started his managerial career at his home town club of Racing Santander, helping them to promotion to the Spanish top flight in 2002. After a spell out of the game, Setién returned to take over at Logroñés, a club he had represented as a player in the first division of Spanish Football, but he was unable to avoid relegation to the Third Division.

Barça’s new coach then moved on to Galician club Lugo and he gained promotion to the Second Division A in 2012. After a total of six seasons with Lugo, he joined first division side Las Palmas where he stayed for two campaigns. In 2017 he signed for Andalusian club Betis where he guided them to sixth place in the league and place in the Europa League in his first season in charge. Setién’s second campaign with the Seville based club saw him take the team to the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey before departing in the summer of 2019.
