Your eyes are not playing tricks on you! That is an actual boat rather a canoe being used on the streets of Lagos!

Yesterday it rained quite heavily in Lagos State, most parts of the city like Lekki, VI, Apapa and Ikeja, ended up being so flooded that navigating one’s way through on foot and by car was near impossible, so some did the only thing that made sense, used a boat to move around on the streets of Lagos.


It’s kind of funny but sad at the same time.

There isn’t a proper drainage system in place so anytime it rains, the streets get flooded, cars get stuck in gutters, I’ve even heard of little kids getting swept away in the flood. Governor Ambode rally needs to step up and sort out this flooding issue once and for all.

New woman Caitlyn Jenner was last night spotted showing her face for the first time since he came out as a woman last week on Vanity Fair. Caitlyn who until over a week ago was known as Bruce Jenner, the Olympic winning athlete and patriarch of the Kardashians, was spotted with one of the plastic surgeons that feminized his look – Dr. Harrison H. Lee as both of them posed with a copy of the much talked about Vanity Fair Magazine.

Someone needs to get Caitlyn some etiquette classes cos she’s sitting with her legs wide open…just like a man would.

Unlike a lot of the students from his graduating class Davido will never ever have to tender his degree to a potential employer to get a job, matter of fact he doesn’t NEED the degree and its on those lines that one of his employers – telecommunications company MTN renewed his contract as brand ambassador for another year.


The recent graduate of music from Babcock University yesterday signed the papers officially renewing his contract today with MTN yesterday. Also present at the signing was talent agent Mr Paul Okoye and Richard Iweanoge of MTN.

Davido was the only student of his department (Music) to graduate yesterday at the 13th Babcock University Convocation Ceremony which was attended by The Adeleke’s Don Jazzy, Reekado Banks & Godswill Akpabio. This is because the music star was the pioneer student of the department which was set up 3 years ago.

Another interesting fact is that Davido’s billionaire dad who insisted his son get a University degree was the one who set up the music department of the school, which is why Davido was the pioneer student.

Bilionaire things! The Music Department’s Head of department, Olusegun Ojuola revealed this to NET, when speaking on the growth of the department

Well, it’s really a long journey, because it’s through the help of Dr Deji Adeleke that the department was developed over three and half years ago. But we actually started admitting (students) in 2012.

Now the department has 27 students including Kamal Ajiboye (Davido’s manager) and Shizi (his producer), both of whom are set to graduate next year.

Davido, whose thesis was on the topic: ‘Challenges of Live Performance of Afro-pop artists in Nigeria’ was also described in glowing terms by Ojuola, who said yesterday during the convocation ceremony

The first thing I try to do is to dichotomise the artiste from the student. The Davido I know is an artiste, but the student I admitted into the department is Adedeji David Adeleke and the relationship has been like that all through. But I can tell you this much, that David is a very very brilliant and very obedient student. When I say Obedient, you can see that in terms of humility. Anytime David is in school, he knows he’s in school as a student.

It’s Monday morning and the jokes are coming in fast and furious already!

Starting with the IG of Police, who over the weekend while speaking at a symposium organised by the National Association of Seadogs, The Inspector General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase declared that the Nigerian Police, has the least corrupt officers of all the institutions in the country. Hian!

Just yesterday police stopped me twice between Ikoyi and VI asking for something for the weekend..if that isn’t corrupt  I do not know what is o!

The IG said


He is allergic to corruption and since then he has taken practical steps to deal with the issue of corruption, both the history of corruption and perception of corruption of the Nigeria Police Force. One of the first things he did was to set up the IGP’s Monitoring Teams. First of all the decision by the Police Management Team was to take out roadblocks across all our highways. It was not just to dismantle it, he set up the IGP Monitoring Team to ensure that these directives are enforced.

If you go across most of our highways now roadblocks have been reduced to the barest minimum, and anybody mounting roadblocks, does that at his risk. Presentations are also made where Commissioners of Police are invited to look at the situations across the country right from the condition of suspects in Police cells and they have a technical platform that enable them to monitor the behaviour and conduct of police officers on the road as they handle suspects.

Bail is free! Help lines have been provided where you can supply information. You can call to inform that you went to this station and paid this amount and I can assure you, action will be taken. I think you can hardly find institutions that is like Police taking practical steps to deal with corruption, all I want to say by way of challenge is have confidence in the Police.

 

Based on my personal experience I am finding it extremely hard to believe what the IG has said is true!

Up until a few days ago Caitlyn Jenner was Bruce Jenner and in the 1976 Bruce won the gold medal in the decathlon at the Montreal Olympic Games. Since then he went on to marry three women and father six children as a man, before deciding he wanted to switch genders an revealing himself as a woman on Monday.

Based on him now identifying as a woman, a petition was launched yesterday to revoke the gold medal he won as Bruce.


The petition on change.org states,

We congratulate Ms. Jenner on these new developments and wish her the best. However, this creates somewhat of a problem as Ms. Jenner (as talented as she is) claims that she has always believed herself to be truly female, and therefore, was in violation of committee rules regarding women competing in men’s sports and vice versa.

Fellow Nigerians, we may have to wait a while before we get to see the current net worth of President Muhammadu Buhari and his VP, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.

It should be noted that as required by law, the President & VP filed their assets with the Code of Conduct Bureau, however the asset declaration information isn’t privy to the public and this has caused social commentators to remind the president of his campaign promise to not only publicly declare his assets, but also his VP & ministers must do the same for an open, transparent government.


The Special Assistant to the Chairman of the bureau, Mr. Gwimi Sebastian Peter, has said only the National Assembly is vested with the powers to decide the terms and conditions under which such documents could be made public.

They made the promise, so they need to keep it. But we would all need to wait and see how this all plays out.

Buhari & Osinbajo Have Not Yet Resumed To Their Official Duty Posts At Aso Villa

According to news reports, President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo were not seen at work today (Monday June 1, 2015) at the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock.

Members of staff at the villa were said to have reported for work quite early, with high exceptions to receive the duo but looks like they will have to wait a little longer for their new boss. Newly appointed spokesmen – Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu and Kazaure – State Chief of Protocol, were also not seen as at Aso Villa this morning.

However it is worthy to note that Buhari has not moved into Aso Rock and is still staying at The Defense House which is the official guest house of the Federal Government.


According to Garba Shehu, ongoing cleaning and refurbishment has prevented President Buhari to move into his official residence in Aso Villa.

“As far as the President is concerned, the place (his official residence) is not ready yet. Workers are cleaning and refurbishing the place. Once the exercise is completed, the President will move in.”he said
This could possibly explain why he was not seen at his office at Aso Villa today.

Going by conversations on Social Media, Nigerians are waiting eagerly to see what the President’s first move would be concerning the issues on ground – erratic power supply, fuel scarcity, insecurity, corruption.

Shortly after wrapping up the inspection of guards at his swearing in ceremony this morning at the Eagle Square in Abuja, President Buhari performed his second role as President when he gave his inauguration speech.

When he said, “I belong to everybody & I belong to nobody”, I knew for sure his speech was gearing up to be epic and epic it was!The new president’s speech covered all issues ranging from corruption to Boko Haram to the current fuel crisis and even social media! His speech gave me national pride and hope that maybe, just maybe there are better days ahead for our country.

Sai Baba’s speech also served some shade to the outgoing GEJ administration and a few others! LOL

At home we face enormous challenges. Insecurity, pervasive corruption, the hitherto unending and seemingly impossible fuel and power shortages are the immediate concerns. We are going to tackle them head on. Nigerians will not regret that they have entrusted national responsibility to us. We must not succumb to hopelessness and defeatism. We can fix our problems.

He threw shade at Nigerian leader from the 1980s onwards, most of whom were sitting behind him in the state box

In recent times Nigerian leaders appear to have misread our mission. Our founding fathers, Mr Herbert Macauley, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Alhaji Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Malam Aminu Kano, Chief J.S. Tarka, Mr Eyo Ita, Chief Denis Osadeby, Chief Ladoke Akintola and their colleagues worked to establish certain standards of governance. They might have differed in their methods or tactics or details, but they were united in establishing a viable and progressive country. Some of their successors behaved like spoilt children breaking everything and bringing disorder to the house.

He is reforming law enforcement and the judicial service

Daunting as the task may be it is by no means insurmountable. There is now a national consensus that our chosen route to national development is democracy. To achieve our objectives we must consciously work the democratic system. The Federal Executive under my watch will not seek to encroach on the duties and functions of the Legislative and Judicial arms of government. The law enforcing authorities will be charged to operate within the Constitution. We shall rebuild and reform the public service to become more effective and more serviceable. We shall charge them to apply themselves with integrity to stabilize the system.

He addressed the media, especially social media

The Nigerian press is the most vibrant in Africa. My appeal to the media today – and this includes the social media – is to exercise its considerable powers with responsibility and patriotism.

He is going to deal with Boko Haram & he is also remembered the missing Chibok girls

The most immediate is Boko Haram’s insurgency. Progress has been made in recent weeks by our security forces but victory can not be achieved by basing the Command and Control Centre in Abuja. The command centre will be relocated to Maiduguri and remain until Boko Haram is completely subdued. But we can not claim to have defeated Boko Haram without rescuing the Chibok girls and all other innocent persons held hostage by insurgents.

Threw some more shade at the outgoing GEJ administration

No single cause can be identified to explain Nigerian’s poor economic performance over the years than the power situation. It is a national shame that an economy of 180 million generates only 4,000MW, and distributes even less. Continuous tinkering with the structures of power supply and distribution and close on $20b expanded since 1999 have only brought darkness, frustration, misery, and resignation among Nigerians. We will not allow this to go on. Careful studies are under way during this transition to identify the quickest, safest and most cost-effective way to bring light and relief to Nigerians.

And he even quoted a line from William Shakespeare’s Julius Ceaser

There is a tide in the affairs of men which,

On his return from London this morning, the president elect headed to his home for the next four years, where he was welcomed by the current President, Goodluck Jonathan, who gave him a tour of the Presidential Villa.

Both men held hands as they toured the villa, before GEJ

After their friendly tour of Aso Villa, there was an official ceremony at the Council Chamber of the State House, where Jonathan formally presented the hand over notes and a copy of the report of the National Conference which held in 2014, to Mr. Buhari.

It is being reported that president elect Muhammadu Buhari jetted out to London this morning from Abuja, for undisclosed reasons.

Nothing special right?

But according to Sahara Reporters embattled Minister of Petroleum Diezani Alison-Madueke is also on the same British Airways flight with GMB. The publication is reporting that on hearing that Buhari was going to be on that flight, she fast tracked her ticket to London, which was scheduled to leave next Tuesday. She reportedly MOVED IT UP to be on the same flight with GMB, this morning.


The two are currently up in the sky…together…

One can only imagine what is being discussed between the two…Some people are of the opinion that Madueke is soliciting for a pardon from the incoming president…allegedly

And this morning the media mogul dropped some more pictures of Davido and the mother of his child, 28 year old Sophie Momodu (who happens to be Mr. Momodu’s cousin) looking very much like a couple in love while bonding at the baby shower which happened a few short months ago.
