Maureen UMEUGOCHUKWU 21yrs

A Right-Footed CB, who also can fill in as fullback. A good ball Progressor, both in Carrying and Passing.

Also a dangerous threat in the air in attacking set pieces. With lot of experience after Playing for Adana Idmanyurduspor club in the Turkish 1st division ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ท & there in ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท.

She masters 1v1 situations better than most centre-backs.

Just 20 seconds into this highlight, she's already better than Demehin in Confidence, composure on and off the ball, ball retention, progression and carrying. Unlike Demehin who treats the ball on her feet like hot Potatoes ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Anywho, let me continue watching to see what she does with positioning and defensive actions...I shall return with a verdict expeditiously... ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

The rumors about Ashleigh Plumptre is just too much right now, When she was at Leicester City it was Angel City and San Diego from the NWSL and Juventus from Italy that was after herโ€ฆ But currently after the World Cup we have got Manchester United, Arsenal and PSGโ€ฆ.as her suitors

While Barcelona fans are tagging their Club to come sign her which I donโ€™t see happening as Ashleigh wonโ€™t want to share minutes, Sheโ€™s a starter and a Fulltime player๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

I think the Arsenal and Barca Links are more of both clubs fans wanting her in their team... Arsenal fans wants as replacement for the departed Rafaela so they could run with Amanda and Ashleigh at CB while waiting for Leah to return from her injury. NB: They don't rate Wubben-Moy at all.

In my opinion the text above is quite bad from Okobi if these are her words
1) why compare Toni wit herself, if it had been me!!!!
2) So Toni is not up to that standard but she is?
3) so Toni didn't bring all she had?

Now she did say Toni is a very good player but then she followed up with all the "accolades" and ended up saying she would have done better.

I rest my case and I sing the Asake song to myself, "lonely at the top.....wetin u love o no be wetin I go love o"

Those "Accolades" are more of a backhanded compliment to Toni which seems very patronizing and condescending.... There are certain things you can't teach one in life...Class.

I wonder if you were abreast with my post before quoting, This post was majorly for Halimatu Ayinde who did an excellent job policing Lauren James..!

England would have defeated Nigeria Soundly and nothing happened till 80+ they got a red card.

Maybe na England ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ vs Niger ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ช match you watch

I don't think England would "have defeated Nigeria Soundly" whether James was marked or not. I mean this is a team that has so far scored 80% of their goal against a very bad and helpless Chinese side..

Nevertheless, Ayinde was superb and did a very good job. ( Not Forgetting Michelle too who didn't allow anybody playing on that wing breathe ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚)

Then it became more confusing to anyone, especially as Ordega was everywhere.

Bro, I wanted to cry seeing the confusion amongst the players...they had no idea of what to do with the ball once they got it...

The Ordega and Ajibade move was head scratching ( I guess it was done because Ajibade is better beating her marker on the dribble, but we could have just overloaded that wing since Daly who was playing LB for England isn't a Specialist defender and stick 2 Attackers in their box since we decided to go route one )

I saw somewhere that Arsenal Ladies want her tooโ€ฆ

At PSG she should get game time, maybe pair with Dudek, Amelda

Yeah definitely, she'll get more playing time and a starter at PSG (Even at Lyon, but less so )....but that club seems very dysfunctional even at female level. I saw the Arsenal link as well, but it seems to be just Arsenal fans wanting her more than anything else...(no concrete links, yet).

She could make a very good replacement for Rafaela ( She's better than Lรถtte and Williams is still injured...So Arsenal will have Amanda and Her starting ). I wish she could sign for Chelsea to replace Magdalena ( Sentimental reasons ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚) but they seem stacked at the back right now

I'd love this...But I'll stop at Lyon and PSG...maybe Paris FC. The other ones aren't really that exciting. ( Problem with Lyon is that they still have Wendie at Ashleigh's favorite position...LCB and she'll likely play any minute she's available for )

It wasn't a direct replacement substitution now. But you saw Michelle Switch to the LW role, didn't you. Ordega coming in wasn't to directly replace Kanu. Those subs were changing the formation straight up.

As for weaker vs Better, I'd say the removal of pain did that more than the time Ordega came on. The long balls were terrible and that's where i missed Payne and Ayinde. As for her performance after replacing Kanu, I'll say it was okay but for a fresh leg, i expected more more from her. Infact all the subs fall my hand.

Dave, Michelle wasn't playing as a LW....She played as a LWB ( She was just Super high up the Pitch )
The formation was 3-4-2-1 ( Order started as the RWB but eventually went central and Ajibade went to the RWB position )

Ohale_____Demehin______Plumptre

Ajibade_______Christy_____jenni_______Michelle

Ordega____Desire (Toni )

Guys, lets call a spade a spade... Randy is a dumbass coach, in as much as he made the English team look so average, he was so dull to make use of the English's team one down.

True, I've settled down and re-watched that game, Randy delivered a full regular time Masterclass, but delivered an Extra time Disaster-class....Watching that extra time did my head in.

First he switched to a back 3 ( Really Who does that? when you have a player advantage and need a goal? you decide to play with 3 CBs and yet none of the Outside Backs were instructed to underlap or venture forward, Plus also having a CDM, Smh )...He then proceeded to play his supposed Wing backs out of position... Michelle Alozie as a LWB ( Putting her in the worst position she could play, Why not allow her to be a marauding RWB, where she's more comfortable?....I mean, look...She had the best chance of the extra time when Jenni played her in, but because she's not adept at cutting in, she was forced to using her weaker foot and just shot wide off target )

Secondly, What was he thinking playing Ajibade as a RWB thereby limiting her creation and getting her far away from goal where she'd be more useful.

What was the reason behind playing Ordega centrally and as a SS? When has she ever performed in such position? She doesn't have the Spatial awareness to play as a number 10 nor a Trequartista...Instead of playing her out wide to put in crosses or run in-behind, she was busy stinking up the whole place in the middle....

Another one I couldn't understand was you decided to play long balls and crosses ( Despite England having a good Aerial CB in Millie and Carter ) but you decided to give your best aerial threat ( I know Kanu had be withdrawn at the time, but Oparanozie is equally adept in the air ) a withdrawn role instead of making her the focal point and sticking her in the box? She ended up being super useless and a net negative to the team...I truly can't remember anything she did right or even remember if she was in the game.

Last but not the least, What kind of tactics did we even employ in that extra time? Ashleigh could pass, but Demehin thought her teammates were somehow levitating and playing "above" everyone else that she decided to kick every ball long and up ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚...I mean, The Super Falcons had more crosses than the entire Catholic Church in that extra time....Oshoala did't even jump or contest for any single one of them...( She couldn't jump in any of the million crosses that came her way, but wanted to attempt a bicycle kick? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.) When a 5.6' Alozie wins more headers than you, there's a problem ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ ......I guess, our Tactics was just Cross and Insha Allah.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Girls tried and also played really well for the most part...The Staff also tried...But that extra time was a really painful watch and about undid all the good things they did 90 mins prior.

NB: Sorry for the long reply

Again, you'll only be surprised about Oshoala if you don't watch her at Barcelona. At some point, I even concluded that being a Barcelona hasn't helped her to become a better player even though she's won so many laurels with them. At Barca, she's required for the bear minimum. All she does is position in the box, and score. She's sometimes required to make runs but that's very rare.

She misses so many chances. She may have to get 10 chances to score 1. Our role every week is to defend her on their YouTube page from attacks by some racist Barcelona fan. (lol) even though there's truth to some of the things they say sometimes.

I still think she has a lot to offer the team, she must needs to take personal responsibility. Get a personal trainer that will help you improve your game. He contract ends with Barcelona in 2024, and there's pressure from some fans not to renew her contract and go instead for a better striker. If her contract isn't renewed and she gets to join another team, her inadequacies will become more apparent.

Really hoping she works on herself.

Bro, I wouldn't really agree that Barca hasn't helped her... barca has helped her a lot to become the better player she is today, at least initially ( During 2019 season when Barca wasn't fixated on tiki-taka)...In fact Oshoala prior to Barca ( Actually The Chinese club she moved to before Barca ) was pure trash at Club level.

I watched her at Liverpool for a year and she was awful, Watched her at Arsenal and she was even worse....Infact other than run very fast in a straight line, she couldn't do anything else or even have any other skill in her locker. ( One could argue that she didn't settle down well to the English culture, but then again she actually lived for one year in a city where many people shared similar culture with her and also have a huge Nigerian community in North London)

Check Oshoala's career, Barca is the only club where she has been stellar...At U20 Level, she was a midfielder, at National Level she hasn't been that good I know she has 3 goals for Nigeria at the FWWC 1 in 15, 1 in 19 and 1 in 23...But the last time she scored in a WAFCON was in 2016. At Liverpool and Arsenal she was a flop....Only Barca has been able to get the best out of her despite her limited technical abilities. She has lost her explosiveness and pace and once she loses whatever is left of her pace, she'll become very painful to watch (She already is, somewhat )

For someone who started as a midfielder, I'm still puzzled by her lack of skills and technique....

Sorry for the long ass reply ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ But I very much agree with everything else you said.

The womenโ€™s football event at the Olympics is actually on FIFAโ€™s calendar, so clubs are definitely obligated to release players for the tournament

Oh really? I didn't know that...or I must have missed it. But why isn't the men's event overseen by FIFA as well? It just makes half a sense to me....
Or could it be, because the women club teams were't "full time pros" ( At least not until some 5 years ago) FIFA saw it fit to take charge?

As only 2 African teams would be present at the Olympics, I would tip Nigeria and South Africa to pick the slots (if both teams are are further kept apart in the African qualifiers)โ€ฆ

Also, whoever coaches the team at the Olympics (if we qualify) would have a big selection headache cos each country is limited to 18-player squads.

Even if you take out Ebi, Oparanozie, Oluehi, Balogun and Ordega, ๐Ÿ˜ there is still the headache of trying to fit in the likes of Nicole Payne, Babajide, Ijeh, Onyenezide, into the squad without dropping others.

This wouldn't be much of an issue anyway, as the Olympics is played during start of preseason and clubs aren't obligated to release their players as that competition doesn't fall under the purview of FIFA.

Hereโ€™s what some of the South African has to say!

It has been analyzed that your best PK taker should always be the first taker to set the tone and put pressure of "catching up" on the opposition....Your Second best PK taker should go always go 3rd...

Anyway the first team taking penalty for the most part always wins ( As the 2nd team taking penalties will always play catch up ), That was why FIFA introduced the ABBA Pk system some 6 years back, but they have somehow scrapped it.

...As for Oshoala, it's always a mystery why she plays like an amateur or someone who's never kicked a ball in her life whenever she wears the "Green & White"...For someone who is said to be "Africa's Best" and contending to be recognized as one of the best Strikers in the world and best Player in the world ( Balon d'or Nomination ) she never takes charge to drag her team to fight and across the finish line, she never plays through her skin, stay on the grind like other greats do.

I mean she only registered 2 shots on target throughout this tournament ( 4 games: one was a free net against Australia which resulted in a goal and he other was a tame shot at 116 min against England )....That's very appalling for any 1st choice striker and even more appalling for someone touted as one for the best in the world.

We're playing against Whyte supremacists..

Super Falcons should not be looking for penalty or favorable decisions from the referee.

They should upgrade their chance creation tactics and score normal goals.

Despite En:gland getting a red card and playing with 10 players that was when Super Falcons started playing as if Super Falcons had 9 players on the field.

With the right tactics and right substitutes Super Falcons would have won that match easily.

You don't come together with full force, your arms outstretched towards an opponent while clattering into the back of said opponent.
