Oshoala shouldn't have kicked the ball!! the defenders were already retreating to cover their goal post....Just control its, bring it unto your right and then strike towards goal.

Starting an inexperienced Deborah as a 10 and a lightweight Toni in the double pivot? See how non-existent that midfield is. This team hasn't struck 2 passes together inside the first 13 mins....Smh

The talk about Haiti is a lie from the dark pit of hell fire. Shame on u. The same Tosin that at 13:00 intercepted a pass, dribbled 2 players and found Ajibade, that Tosin didn't complete a pass all first half Go and watch the match again.

https://fb.watch/lToqtm8ucl/

How convenient for you to leave out the other points made.....and oh fortunately, we watched the match in its entirety and not some highlight. Tosin kept booting the ball out of touch or looking for the long pass to Okoronkwo and failed each time. I mean just watch how our left side was more cohesive than our right side.

Like I said, and I'll reiterate it again, telling ourselves lies seem to be a national pastime hobby.

Sorry, Demehin is only more physical and pacier than Plumptre.

Nope Demehin is slow Af... Go watch her in the U20 or for State de Reims...Her Recovery pace is almost non-existent. Ashleigh is deceptively quick...She has longer strides and covers more ground quicker... There's a reason she's able to play as an attacking fullback or an Outside center back ( LCB) in a 3atb formation. She may not be the fastest, but she's definitely our 2nd fastest CB.

She may or may not be more physical than Tosin...but Tosin gets Stuck-in more, but she's just 1.67m while Ashleigh stands at 1.80m.

When? The only mistake made was the bad pass by Onome Ebi when Chiamaka came to rescue.

Are you sure about that? Same Tosin that didn't complete a single pass in the first half against Haiti? Leading to the Right hand side of the Nigerian attack suffering throughout the first half?. Same Tosin that gave multiple wayward passes, one being to Melchie Dumornay only for her to blow her shot over the cross bar?

Or The Same Tosin when, she was captain of the Women's U20 Team that committed 2 blunders and gave away 2 goals leading to her team being eliminated by Netherlands. 1st goal...Made a half assed clearance ( More Like a pass ) to a Dutch player in our 18 only for her to control with her chest and just kick the ball into the net. 2nd goal...wanted to clear the ball but literally controlled it and set it up nicely for the Dutch girl to just pass the ball into the net.

Oh...Maybe the Tosin that was at fault for the 2 goals PSG scored against her team that ended in a 2-0 loss in her 2nd game?

We have a very bad habit in this country....We have short memories or perhaps we are averse to telling the truth even when the truth slaps us in the face. Smh...

They forgot so soon that it was the rebounded Onyi Echegini headed ball that resulted to Asisat Oshoala goal…. You guys go and watch again 57minutes..

If she played deeper, how come she was in the 18 to even have a header?

PS: her having a hand in the goal doesn't negate the other 89 minutes she was out there playing.

Deltamani:

I wish they would understand, Onyi Dropped deeper in this game which restricted her usual flow of passes and flairs but the 2nd half she move forward a bit.. Anyway na Ona Coach hand everything dayyyy

This is very bogus!.

She never dropped deeper than the other midfielders, her average position was higher than Toni's and Ayinde's. The first half was a 4-3-3 formation with a 3 Person midfield, her being the right sided double 8's, Toni on the left and Ayinde as a 6. Toni progressed the ball through "Progressive Carries" and i think Jennifer was supposed to be the passer. She was anonymous all first half partly because whenever we had the opportunity to play the ball from the right side of the field Demehin rather chose to go route 1 and hit a field goal thereby making everybody on the right side obsolete.

Whenever she did manage to get on the ball, she couldn't control it well enough and would immediately lose possession afterwards, she never tracked back nor put in tackles. On 3 separate occasions when an attack broke down, Michelle had to run past her from an attacking position to put in a tackle on Melchie on the edge of our box and the other 2 times, Melchie blew her shot over the cross bar ( Demehin was backing off and didn't engage on both occasions too). Esther was kinda anonymous in the 1st half for the same reason...infact i think she contested for aerial balls more than the ball being on her feet in the 1st half.

Now in contrast, The left side where everyone flourished bar Ajibade, Ebi was able to play direct ground passes out to Ayinde and Imuran. Rofiat and Toni were combining well all through the 1st half along with Ajibade but as we all know, due to Ajibade's poor decisions, dallying on the ball and over dribbling, nothing came of it in the end. We had way more combinations on the left, the right side was just an abyss where every attack and ball went to die. Only modicum of attack there was whenever Michelle went on one of those her mazy runs πŸ˜‚

Now in the 2nd half When Desire came in, Waldrum switched to a midfield diamond. Ayinde at the base, Toni was the RM, Jennifer was the LM, with Ajibade in the hole behind the 2 Strikers Asisat and Desire. She fared a little bit better in the 2nd half but by that time she was just coasting through the game. Infact at around the 80th min mark, she had an opportunity to score when Desire put in a cross for Asisat, The Haitian defence deflected it to her path in the 18 yard box, but because she was coasting and ball watching, a Haitian player who was a few yards behind her, snuck in front of her and cleared it. If she was alert, that would have been a definite goal.

Haiti didn't press us, they used a half press, ( They allowed our CBs and DM to have the ball, but whenever the ball moves past our defensive 3rd, the start pressing, fouling etc.) So if she had dropped deeper in this game, she would have gotten on the ball more often just like everybody else who dropped deeper/played deeper in the game. She was anonymous because she wasn't assertive in the game and also the stupid loop-sided tactics that was employed, not because she was played deeper.

I literally had to rewatch the game just to make sure i wasn't tripping.

Unpopular opinion:if i were the coach, Ajibade go chop bench tire.. Why remove Esther for Ajibade... , Ajiba so far as not been it.. I did not watch most of 1st half.

Ajibade being on the bench isn't so much of an "Unpopular Opinion" I would even go ahead and not call her up for a few friendlies. She has to watch her mates from the Tv while she reflects on why she isn't out there playing with them.

I disagree sha.

Wish we could see the individual stats and you'll see this isn't true. She's probably made the most pass in the team in my opinion. Plus she's had to play deeper than usual.

Wait what?! She was the most advanced of the midfield 3. She was just simply anonymous.

I just wished Michelle could defend ( I know she's an attacker, but she's improved slightly from the last time i saw her ) she would have been golden.

Imuran is good for her age, hope she keeps progressing and becomes one of the best LB/Defenders around

Demehin needs to improve and improve real fast. For someone who's still 20, i don't understand how she lacks pace and can't run. She moves like she's 40 or something.

Looks like the ball is bigger than Toni Payne, can her legs even carry that thing? πŸ˜‚

The rest of the midfield can't control a football for shit and can't complete a pass either...Even if their lives depended on it.

Our wide players don't know what "Keep it Simple" means. This is not a freestyle event πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

The less said about Mister Waldrum, the better πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ ( Won't slag him off today, it's been an okay day so far, so he deserves some reprieve , but still....)
.....and Oh....Aunty Ebi is Thicc Wow 😍 πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚

One thing Ebi has good is her passing. Not as good as you want but she has that on lock. Blessing needs help.

Ebi can actually read the game, Sometimes...Just that whatever her brain processes, her legs hasn't been able to translate as quick as possible πŸ˜‚
Just in this game, she's completed more passes than anyone on the field and has also engage their attackers, closing them down, not allowing them space to turn and forcing them away from goal. I wish she still had any measurable pace on her. The rest of the defense and and Midfield has just been on ushering service πŸ˜‚

These defenders need to be told how to flow with the middle. These long balls will not work at the WWC. They can't work. We aren't even aerially gifted to be trusting such process that it's the habit of all our matches in the last 3years.

At least Ebi has been able to complete her passes to midfield and to Imuran. She's the only defender engaging their attackers and has won a few aerial duels...but she's slow as shit now. Demehin is a non factor... Can't complete a pass to save her life and almost got caught while trying to dribble in her 18, was lucky to be fouled.

Can Demehin pls stop with the aimless and lifeless long balls pls?πŸ₯΄πŸ₯΄

She's been only able to complete 1 pass the whole game, and that was a 5cm pass to Alozie at the 33 minute mark. The first simple 5cm pass she attempted to her she misplaced it, the rest of the match she's been hoofing it up field like she's attempting an NFL Field goal or something.

Worst is Randy is just a few meters away from her keeping mum and can't shout orders to her to make adjustments. Smh. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Culture / Re: Ndi Igbo Ebem Is There Any Difference Between Igwe And Eze by ThePresenceWtf: 6:11am On Mar 11, 2023
I know this is coming almost 8 years too late, but i just thought i should chime in.

The correct term for a "King" in Igbo is Eze.
Igwe literally means "Sky". It's the name of the Sky god in Igbo Cosmology, Amadioha (A.k.a Igwe, Kamalu etc) Who happens to be the husband of another Igbo goddess Ala (Earth).

Igwe is not a title but simply a synonym for Eze.

Probably because she is tall and has a big body. In the US football system, it's mostly speed, pace and power/physicality, over skill. That's the way they scout over there.

Look at their new young players(Sophia smith and co) Only speed and inshallah. few skills and football intelligence. Even the older ones like Lyn Williams the same thing.

Players like Aitana bonmati, Vicky Lopez of Spain will never have got scouted if they grew up in the USA football environment because they look smallish grin

What do you expect? This is a country that calls everyone in a team sport "Athlete" ( I know they're all technically athletes, but still...) If you ain't physically strong, you'll get no attention. Every facet of mainstream sports is all about power and athleticism.. NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL etc. Infact Football was and is still being seen as a feminine sports in the US, the population has to see that it's physically demanding and a sports played by "Athletes" to buy into the idea.

One of the reasons the sports is getting traction here is because the business men involved in it sees it as a commercially viable venture so they'll continue to push it and the continued large immigrant population is making the sports popular too. I mean half the USMNT players are either first generation Americans or were born outside the US...so they're already coming from backgrounds with huge football influence.
