Thank you op I am going on this aggressive challenge too. I am optimistic that it will pay. I have a 4 year account I used back then to work for some online magazine. Since we ended work I'd failed to find new gigs. I'll apply these new strategies and see how it goes. I even withdrew the $6 balance I had there to my Nigerian bank account so that I'll start from $0. Will be sharing feedback 2 Likes |

emmdam: Good day sir, My upwork account is over 4 years old and just 40% complete. I have not had a job for over 3 years. I'm surprised that it wasn't shut down. I need to put in education and work history to complete it but is it the Nigerian work/education history I need to put? Also do you think putting a foreign location will improve my chances of getting hired? I've taken a few tests with good results m |

Never knew he was once jailed. I think he was a leader who was consumed with the desire to make the North a better place. He was a very religious man too. Today's breed of Northern leaders need to borrow a page or two from his playbook and eschew greed. |

nana06: Very true. See ehhn, this PTDF thing is just God's favour and grace to whoever gets it. Some awards that some people will be turned back with, yours can be accepted. Like my awards were secondary school awards and I didnt even have the original copy of the second one but they were both recorded and credited to me. Felixbrown124: That's what I thought o, the publication that was accepted last year was having issues this year. One of the panelists insisted that my publication was a 'review' and not a publication. Even when I told her it was peer reviewed she didnt change her position. The only hope I have is that they said they'll take a decision on the status of my publication after I leave. At least that one is not a straight no. The man who checked my O level seemed to cherry pick the worst grades there. He just announced 14/30 and I felt helpless. When I did it myself yesterday I calculated the best/worst case scenario to be 20/17 Also the panelist thrashed one of my course choices and said I just want to waste their money, I had to quickly denounce it and embrace my second course since it appealed more to her. The rest of the questions were just to test my familiarity with the claims on my SOP, to check if i wrote it myself. Questions on some of my claims came up. To be candid, this is the first presentation I felt like a total idiot like 6 separate times in a space of 30 minutes. Questions were asked and after I answer they'll tell me "We know all of that, tell us the relationship between what you're saying and what PTDF does". Even questions on the SDGs popped up, "Do you think with the realities on ground, they are achievable?" Na me use my hand buy that wahala in my SOP sha. I just feel one kind after it all. Last year, those that were overdrilled seemed to get the scholarships. This year, everyone in my centre came out looking stressed and disoriented, including me. It was so bad I forgot to tell the panelists they smelt nice. So i dont even knw what to think again. I think those in Engineering have a higher chance of getting the scholarships because, because they seem to be fewer. There were only about 6 engineers in my centre, and about 25 environmental guys. I was scheduled for 12 but i met the panel at 4.30pm Many guys from the North have very intimidating profiles, grades, and awards. The competition is thick there too. Last last, just put your faith and trust in God. He shows mercy to whom he will. Your case could be different from the next person's, so don't let anybody's experience make you apprehensive. Just go out and enjoy the experience. I'm unfollowing this thread after this post. Someone should please be kind enough to tag me when shortlist comes out. This experience has motivated me to pursue my other opportunities with zest. 2 Likes |

Sheddy79: To the best of my knowledge, they can only take two. So if you have 10 awards or 10 publications, they can only record a maximum of two. Go with all the hardcopies, they'll select the two they like best. |

okonebiebi: There was a photo someone uploaded with the interview format and marks allocation on this thread. I had it but can't find it. Some of the questions I can recall What inspired you to select this course? What have you achieved in life? Relationship between what you selected and the oil and gas sector? And questions in my field. 1 Like |

DINDU20: What I'll share is based on MY experience. So, at the interview last year, I was asked for any awards. I told the man I didn't have any because on the site last year the awards section was labeled "National Awards" . He now asked me if I had never won or was awarded anything during NYSC? I said no. He asked if I ever won any scholarships in university or something that distinguished me from others, he even asked if I had been awarded anything in my secondary school. I had thought awards must be on a national scale. The ones I had were stuff I won in secondary school but I didn't have them at the interview. I'm sure he would have accepted them if had presented them. The takeaway is this: Take along any document that certifies an academic achievement or merit award or anything you were given as a prize or something for an achievement (carry the leadership awards too). It's for them to say they won't accept it rather than not taking it along it and it turns out they'd have accepted it. Just like scarplanet said with regards to publications, carry all your articles/publications too. You may not know which they'll accept or reject. Bottom line, take anything you believe will advance your cause. I think I'm rambling but I hope you get what I'm driving at. Cheers. 5 Likes 1 Share |

scarplanet: Oh dear. Thank you for your response. What i was asking was if I was to upload the entire journal (including the works of other authors) or just my own article. I wanted to upload the whole thing but space no gree me. I could not compress it, so I just put the introductory pages (editor's notes etc) and my articles into one pdf and uploaded it like that. I'll definitely take everything including the awards I could not upload. Last year I was asked for awards but because I had a different meaning of awards from theirs I had nothing to offer. Lesson learnt. |

Please, as for publications. Do you upload the entire journal or excise just your portion? I'll be glad if anyone clarifies this for me. |

Firstly I hope she's an adult teenager? If she's not please maintain your distance. If she's mature psychologically, you can get close to her. If she responds well fine, if she doesn't fine. If she responds well go and hint her family on your intentions. So that they are sure you're there for good. Also be prepared to foot some of her educational costs. Personally I'll advise you to allow her to face her studies. Find someone who has found direction in life and is done with school or almost done with school. 1 Like |

First mistake, you accepted to chat with her daily on Facebook and whatsapp. No matter how you go about it there's not going to be that respect anymore. She don see you finish and I'm sure you may have spilt some of your secrets to her, which she'll also tell her friends. If you know what is good for your career, unplug whatever you have going between you and let her graduate in peace. If you still think you want her after graduation then you can go and meet her parents. 7 Likes |
