Unity Bank has merged with Providus Bank - See Details 27 September 2025 — An unverified message circulating in online alleges that Providus Bank has merged with Unity Bank, claiming the merger was completed on 26 September 2025. The post, attributed to a person identifying themselves as “Fugi,” a Providus relationship manager, says Unity Bank customers would be migrated to Providus bank soon and Providus bank will start operating via Unity Bank branches nationwide, and Providus bank offers to complete onboarding “over the phone.” • This claim currently appears to originate from a user-posted comment and has not been independently verified by Yadaj.com. There is no confirmed, official announcement from either bank or from banking regulators cited in the circulating message. Treat it as unconfirmed until you see direct communications from the banks or CBN. Key details from the circulating message • Alleged merger completion date: 26/09/2025 • Attribution: message signed “Fugi,” claiming to be a Providus Relationship Manager. • Claim: Providus bank will takeover all Unity Bank branches nationwide. • Offer: Assistance to set up or migrate accounts “over the phone” Customer alert — Unity bank and providus bank customers should be careful of those whom may call them to assist them to migrate over the phone. • Unsolicited offers to handle account changes entirely by phone are a common tactic used in banking scams. • Do not share account numbers, internet banking passwords, card numbers, OTPs, PINs, or other sensitive information by phone, text, social media or email. • Be cautious if asked to click unknown links, download attachments, or to transfer funds to new accounts. What customers should do now 1. Verify with official sources: check the official websites and verified social media channels of Unity Bank and Providus Bank and look for press releases or customer notices. Also check any statements from Central Bank of Nigeria. 2. Contact your bank directly using phone numbers or contact channels listed on your physical bank documents or the bank’s official website — not the contact information on social media. 3. If you’ve already shared sensitive information or believe your account may be compromised, contact your bank immediately to freeze the account and change credentials. 4. Report suspicious messages to the bank and to the Nigerian police or consumer protection agencies. 5. REJOINDER: Setting the Record Straight on Dr. Okowa’s Visit to Idumuesa The reports claiming that former Governor, His Excellency Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, was rejected by his people in Idumuesa are not only misleading but appear to have been deliberately distorted to serve political mischief. There was no rejection based on political affiliation or any alleged defection to the APC. The concerns raised by the people were focused solely on dissatisfaction with a perceived imbalance in an empowerment list not on Dr. Okowa’s leadership. In fact, prior to arriving in Idumuesa, Dr. Okowa received an overwhelming show of support and affirmation during his visits to Urban Wards 3 and 4, Mbiri Ward 12, Otolokpo Ward 14, and Ute-Ogboje Ward 13. At every stop, he was warmly received and celebrated by the people. At Idumuesa, the reception was no different, Dr. Okowa was again welcomed with enthusiasm. The uproar that followed was not directed at him but was sparked by the reading of an empowerment list reportedly financed by the leadership in Ika North-East Local Government Area. Many women expressed frustration over the list’s disproportionate allocation, which they felt unfairly favoured a particular lineage and marginalized others. In his typical calm, respectful, and peace-loving manner, Dr. Okowa addressed the situation personally. When multiple women attempted to speak at once, he kindly asked them to nominate a representative to voice their concerns. He listened attentively, reassured the people that corrective actions would be taken, and promised that those responsible would be cautioned to ensure a more equitable distribution going forward. This was not an incident of rejection, it was a plea for fairness. And Dr. Okowa, in his responsive and thoughtful leadership style, handled it with composure and grace. We must all strive to verify facts before disseminating misinformation. The people of Idumuesa remain strongly connected to Dr. Okowa and continue to hold him |

The only way I am seeing now is for all monarchs in South-south and South west to ban the eating of cow meat so herdsmen will stop coming to our region. Kiilling farmers and kidnapping is of no benefit to anyone. We can import chicken, and build more poultry in our region to replace cow meat. |

ASABA- The Leadership of Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), Delta State Chapter has frowned at the recent unguided utterances of the spokesperson of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Delta State over Kwale Industrial Park (KIP). This was disclosed to our reporter today by the the Leadership by the Spokesperson of the group in the State, Prince Henry .J. Eze, who doubled as the Delta State Chairman, Kowa Party condemned the frivolous press release made by APC publicity secretary in Delta State, Barr. Sylvester Imonia. The Leadership of CUPP in the State in a press release through it's spokesperson had lectured Barr. Imonia on the need to go through the political records of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in Delta State in terms of Governance, developmental strides, ethnic balancing, economic stability, accountability and transparency and judge from that angle to see the difference when compared with the APC's Federal Government bedeviled with poverty, poor economic policies and citizens deprivation of viable standards of living. APC Leadership through Barr. Imonia in a press released recently had accused current PDP Administration led by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa that his project on Investment, Economic Initiative is a white elephant project, that the State Government should first and foremost complete that of Warri industrial park that is 70 percent near completion rather than embarking on PPP with Chinese Government to establish an industrial park in Kwale. CUPP stated that APC in the State is fond of raising baseless, unconstructive, unfounded, unguided utterances full of political dust capable of over- heating the polity, adding that the response provided on this ground by the leadership of Peoples Democratic party ( PDP) that there are several litigations surrounded the Warri Industrial Park as caused by the previous administration shows APC's ineptitude towards political Statistics, investigations and research. CUPP leadership noted that Governor Okowa believed in Government of Continuum, and has no records of abandoned projects in his tenure and will never have, that he had also completed some abandoned projects left by other previous administrations before him, citing administration. The group applauded Governor Okowa's developmental strides in terms of investments development, and viable economic policies geared towards sustainable economic development while urging the leadership of APC in the State to work towards proffering better constructive criticisms that will benefit the masses rather than discouraging the Government from establishing Kwale Industrial Park (KIP) , which according to him, Governor Okowa's Initiative is capable promoting economic growth and development in the state, adding that is the best economic initiative. https://www.deltapointer.com/2019/11/kip-saga-delta-cupp-blasts-apc.html
