Due to demand, I thought it would be beautiful to have a address this unique agri- investment separately.

Nigeria is one of the countries that is blessed with good soil and climatic conditions for cash crop(tree crops) production.

From the Savannah (North central) with cashew, Shea tree, mango...

To the rain forest ( west, Ondo, Edo, Osun)...

To derived Savannah ( Oyo, Ogun)...

Mangrove (Ondo, Edo, Delta )...

Have diverse ecosystems that support the production of several " money trees".

If money don't grow on trees, why do banks have branches? Says an adage.

We have many old plantations that need to be regenerated. We also have vast lands suitable to growing of crops like sheatree, cashew, orange, plantain, palm tree, guava, pawpaw, cocoa, soursop, mahogany, teak among others.

A lot of foreigners besiege our produce agents to gather little or none existent fruit crops for export every year with many loosing their fortune when agents could not source enough crops for export.

Tree crops business takes time, money, and expertise to yield fortune. I am not here to show statistics but the statement of investment and every prospective investor can be guided according to his preference with choice of crop, land acquisition, crop establishment, maintenance and produce linkage where necessary.

Its time to farm for posterity not survival. With much produce available, we can then plan industries to process the crops into finished goods instead of export.

You can relax if you trust us with your investment planning and execution and you can retire to steady flow of income.

@Op and many others who have some cash they are not using:

Be careful. Everyone one Nairaland is a business man. They all want you to look their side.

Agribusiness is not farming. Its all the other businesses in the produce value chain. Everyone should not be a farmer. That is why we have problems.

Check your schedule, check your market proximity and do some research. What is in demand but in short supply, why is it in short supply, is it sustainable, go and meet people in the business and verify, compare figures and check your passion.

There is no gain in farming if you are not doing it "in volumes". 500k is no money in farming business. It is something in value chain .

Let me explain value chain: let's take beans for example: below are the value chain of beans farming;

Supply of agrochemicals to farmers in rural areas

Agrochemical spraying service

Tractorisation

Rural transport

Mill services

Beans picking, package and marketing

Bean pod waste supply to cow market

Bean flour making

Bean waste supply for animal feed

Rural power

Extension service

And many more if I have time to pen them down.

The lists can be endless and your budget can finance one or the other.

Note, I just used beans as an example.

Think before that money breezes from you.

God bless your work.

@Op:

Your location, hectarage of cultivation matters in cassava production.

I don't doubt you and your friend's credibility but the truth be told. Farming is gainful only when done in "volumes".

If you are cultivating nothing less than 20 hectares, then I will give you a " GO" .

The cost of cultivating 10 hectares compared to 20 hectares, accounting for both stress and human capital is not much but the proceeds is .

God bless your work.

You said you don't trust your vet. That is the person you can see o!

How will you trust an invisible adviser with your investment now?

Poultry birds don't care whether you are broke or not, whatever you master them with is their lot. Change it at your own peril.

InvestmentRe: To Build Another House Or Invest In Business by TheUnbeatable(m): 11:18am On Aug 05, 2016
IHate9ja1:
From the response on this thread i can see why many Nigerians are poor. Investment is only a risk,if you have no practical knowledge about what you are doing.
Investment is of 2 types....
Investing for cashflow ....only for those who wants financial freedom and not job security.
investing for capital gains...Ymodulus engages so much in business like this i.e the tomato business.
If the OP is looking for business ideas
you have
tipper
cement sales combined with cement block industry
pure water factory
transportation business if you can get a reliable bus driver
...instead of buiding another house give
cashew/oil palm plantation a trial i.e 440 seedling planted per acre for heavy density planting.. Agricultural investment requires patience.
I in particular i dont have a job but i saved enough to build an investment that would fetch me cash in coming years either i work or not thus i practice what i preach.
I would advice nysc corpers if they have lands in their villages to invest their allawe, give agricultural plantation a trial...preferably cashew coz oil palm need machinery for processing which doesn't come cheap, seeds can be gotten from Adp's.

make i keep quiet jaare....lol.
Be careful with giving advice.

Agriculture is good business but need wisdom and done in volume.

God bless your work

Sincerely
