Invictus again?

“...After graduating from USAM University, Porto-Novo, Mrs Jack Rich embarked on her entrepreneurial journey...”

There is always a total disconnect in the story of Nigerian entrepreneurs especially the young ones. Nothing inspiring whatsoever! There’s one dude called Sijimoto over there too “a young billionaire who ventured into real estate”.

It’s crazy how Nigerian youths can’t really have a blueprint for success from a worthy example. The other day Alakija was trying to lecture people on hard work to become a billionaire when she actually just got awarded an oil bloc for nothing! A sad country!

Bad belle comments loading yeah? See, where I’m at in life, it’s going to be a dishonour for me to envy anyone without a balance of $650,000 in their account. Trust me, I envy intelligence not the earthly tangibles.

Anyone can be a Dangote ... just get the government to stop others or frustrate them from doing the same business as you.

If you’re still not wealthy enough or other billionaires are closing the wealth gap on you, run to the government to block the borders. Simple.

American billionaires, I respect.
Nigerian billionaires, I don’t. Not even 1 billionaire is out to “create” solutions for problems. What we’ve got in Nigeria are merchants, not businessmen.

I really don’t waste my sympathy for peeps like that. Got rich, make some money or fame and become too good for our black women? Nah. Deal with it! Let them from the other side protect you.

On issues similar to this, I always check out who you breeding or laying with and if it ain’t amongst one of your own kind, I couldn’t give a f.ucck less.

The average black man just wants to get paid. He wants to earn money.. Nothing but getting paid.

Sadly, this is the major reason blacks are mainly not into creation but consumption. This is the bane of under development among blacks.
.

Now I see a comment from a user I can engage with.

You see people talking about “buying cars, building big mansions and marrying most beautiful girls as achievements”. So sad that way too many black folks are just damn too individualistic in their perspective as to what amounts to quality “life”. Serial consumers and null-creators abounds in the black community and countries and we wonder why these folks are shutting their borders in numbers!

Travel / Re: Ugly Experience With Australian Embassy by thewatcher2020: 12:22pm On Aug 05, 2019
Bashoruntolu:
Yes, I'm battling depression; heartbroken; and living on the low. It all started with Australian's refusal to grant me a visa back in may 2016. Reasons been that I don't intended to contribute anything towards the betterment of Australia after my intended apprenticeship ( period of ) stay, that I don't intend to work in Australia after the training program, that I stated "I'm doing this for my country, Nigeria" during a phone-in section I had with my interviewer from the Australian embassy in South Africa, where my application is forwarded to for consideration by the Australia teleperformance office in Onigbongbo and then that I should reapply in some six months, with the aid of an immigration lawyer from Australia, lol. Me wey dey Ajegunle wey never see inside OZ(AUS.) b4 ooo.
All my dreams bar two, edu attainment and long life went down the drain with huge and significant spendings.
Lisa, I swear we could have bought that 40ft IVECO container truck with those funds.
I couldn't march forward, my dreams of 'sourcing energy from fruits' died. Now I'm just a motorboy working with a very nice northern who speaks only one English word - 'cigarette'..and I don't smoke. Journeying places and palaces around on a diesel-run engine...lol.
As for Nigeria, how then did she treat me?
Do I buy feeds for my three month old lil dog, Hazard first or I stock for myself with this 19k stipend?

Life, o critical.

Relief.................................I want this permanently.

I wanna talk to someone

Lol. How are you now? I hope you’re in a better state. LMAO @ IVECO. Mention me with your number if you still want to talk. I do sincerely hope your depression is a past phase now. Cheers.

Education / Re: George Iwilade: The July 10th OAU Massacre, 20 Years After by thewatcher2020: 11:13am On Jul 10, 2019
Stormyweather:
Live on George Iwilade (Afrika). It's disdainfully sad that the people who are enjoying peace today don't know the blood sacrifice that was used to pay for it.

July 10 is not one of those days to forget easily neither is it one we'll like to remember but for the continuous reign of peace, we often need to be reminded the price that was paid for it.

Current OAU students who can walk around the school at anytime of the day/night without harassment from cultists don't even know what price was paid. I sometime ago spoke with some students about the July 10th massacre but most of them are either ignorant about it, feigned ignorance or showed little or no concern.

I can't remember a more touching story that has helped form peace in Nigerian institutions. This freedom isn't enjoyed in most of the Nigerian institutions and there's been no Messiah (Afrika) to stand up for the students.
The true definition of heroism is when one stands up to fight a good cause. George was a secretary general of the SUG and he indeed represented the people unlike what we have in various institutions today.

It is a fervent prayer that one day the perpetrators of this hideous crime will be brought to justice.

I still remember this story like I was there! My brother was there... he was playing scrabble game with one of the murdered student Eviano an Isoko boy. He Eviano played some “heavy” grammar which my bro screamed “Lai lai I dey go collect Chambers from them Austin room...”

My bro passed some of the guys on his way and by sheer coincidence he was actually running to go grab the dictionary before they fired a shot into their room. Eviano died. Geez! Bro never went back to Ife after that... he was shattered after that experience. I was barely 9!

THANK YOU. These countries charge foreign students a lot of money on school fees . Now it’s worse than before. Some places just want yor money and after you finish school , they want you out of their country. It’s big business for them.

Very painful! These goons here glorify suffering so much that you’d think it’s hideous not to suffer before breaking through.

Nigerians pay way too much than they end up getting on the long term. The OP is not alone. Thousands of Nigerians are stuck like him but scared to admit.

When I’m chanced, I’m definitely going to make a post to bring to fore the senselessness of embarking on these evil mission where educational agents convince Nigerian Parents to part with thousands of dollars to go fund an economy where their children end up being aged caregivers and all sorts. They save to come ball in December and run back to continue from where they stopped. I hope only sane people with experience would comment under the post tho.

Most of these people don’t and can never get it. They think you’ve got some bourgeoisie mindset when in fact what you’re serving is basic free tip for useful minds to decipher.

No it’s called a student visa for a reason, it’s for you to study . Nigerians go through issues because they violate the terms of their visa or they try to use the student visa to immigrate which the U.K. has caught on too and is making it very difficult for foreigner students. How does it make financial senses to spend thousands of dollars / euros or pounds to study and not get a decent paying job .

Stop arguing with those dissenting voices! It’s insane to spend over $65,000 from your parents in Nigeria on tuition overseas in a country like Australia and you end up packing shi.it of older citizens and wash plates in restaurants while having some masters degree and be deceiving yourself that “it is just for the time being”.

Trust me, it is easier for you to convince a brick wall to submit to your superior argument on here than to convince some sluggards on this forum on the importance of dignity and sense in yourself. A living witness here, I NEVER EVER NEVER EVER DID NO DAMN MENIAL SHI.T WHEN I WENT ABROAD. All I had to do was scale my expenses for the entire year during my student visa and post-study visa, paid my rents 12 months upfront and got my allowances 12 months upfront (albeit little in comparison to what menial guys make). I got a decent paying contract job while on student visa within 3 months of stepping foot into the country.

I told myself before leaving Nigeria that ANY job that I can’t do in Nigeria, I will never do abroad. It’s really a personal decision which I think it’s sane but people here be thinking because you’re African, you must appreciate just “being” in the foreign country. Balderdash trash!

you guys are hypocrites, many of you look down at security guards and cleaners in nigeria then suddenly we should not look down on you doing menial job and slaving all night abroad.

You have been dishing facts upon facts all day man!

In Nigeria, they treat Okada riders and bus drivers with disdain. Same people tell drivers abroad “thank you” as acts of courtesy but sometimes these racist drivers don’t respond and the Naija hypocrites move on as tho “maybe the driver didn’t hear me”.

I’ve always respected and treated all menial workers in Nigeria with optimal respect unlike most Nigerians as pointed out. Some of these people antagonising your posts here may not respond to the greeting of a LAWMA neighbour in public on their way to work when they are with their colleagues because they don’t want people on the Island to know how they are connected to a LAWMA cleaner. Exactly! We need a platform of sane minds to come together in Nigeria to sensitise our youths! Most people in the country are unaware of what is progress in the right direction and what constitutes null or negative growth.

Buying a car for someone who’s got a problem with his house rent and facing eviction with his family is a problem and not a gift. That’s the exact scenario of these refineries dotting our landscapes now.

We don’t need more refineries!!!

Is there anything wrong if we join others in pioneering alternative sources of energy? The world is moving far ahead of obsolete developments such as refineries and other archaic bullshits. The government of Nigeria should brace up for the challenges of the 21st century and let’s focus on how we can survive beyond oil and it’s bye-products.

Yes, some may say “oh we haven’t gotten it right with the basics, we want to jump to the extremes”. I say No! We can pioneer these technologies if the government is ready to fund some serious research and deploy its resources towards breaking boundaries and attaining new goals every successive year.

Japan, Germany believed in their national strength and mights and created the enabling atmosphere where failure wasn’t discouraged but leveraged upon to succeed unfailingly in a futuristic world that keeps them miles ahead of the rest at every point in time.

If the Saudis wanted to build a refinery here some 9 years ago, I’d applaud such development. This is 2019 almost 2020 for goodness sake, are you guys aware of the vision 2020 set out for this country as far back as 1995-96? This is a negative growth! We can and must do better than this!

“The Africans were big on the slave trade”

The lies these set of deluded western citizens tell themselves every night to go to bed in peace.

That said, until we realize that the west cheated Africa through and through before we can start talking about combating migration and issues like that. The wars in African nations today aren’t fought with bows and arrows but with super firearms produced and supplied by Europe and America waging proxy wars against the continent to continue to deplete its resources without hindrance.

The state of Africa today with the puppet leaders is enough reason for any sane African to want out. It’s sad that this is happening to the African child in 2019. A continent filled with more resources than it can consume but perpetually down-throttled to enable the west stay on top.

Africa divided along religious/tribal lines is the worst legacy of colonisation. Can we have a debate on how ALL whites should vacate Africa and all blacks who willingly travelled to the west should vacate same? This conversation is beyond what I can sit down to type at a go but trust me, Africa can be fixed if 60% of its citizens are willing to damn the consequences and tackle this issue head on. A 50 year plan would definitely yield results in mid century from now if action plan is strategically put in place to check the excesses of the leadership.

You just wasted your energy to type gibberish. You are typing from one useless village where PDP is the governor and you want Jimi Agbaje to become the governor. We all know in Lagos that this time around he’s going to lose in all the local government because he didn’t campaign, he didn’t even show support for the presidential candidate and also he has make Lagos a divided state among the the tribes. I won’t be surprise if he loses in OJo and Ajeromi-Ifelodun, am sure they turned there back at him this time around. Even PDP supporters want another candidate.

Where I’m typing from, is where you and your father and your generation will never be able to visit in this lifetime or the next.

Politics / Re: Sanwoolu Continues To Lead In Lagos As INEC Declares Results Of 15 Lgas by thewatcher2020: 3:46pm On Mar 10, 2019
Elections in Nigeria fast becoming a sham. Aren’t we ashamed of ourselves? Is Jimi Agbaje so unpopular that he’s unable to claim victory in any of the local governments? Surely, that’s not possible.

The results we are seeing today and as seen two weeks ago is a testament to the fact that Africa wasn’t designed to operate the system of democracy. There is nothing democratic about the black man -precisely Nigerian. How best do you explain people like Oshiomhole and Tinubu making utterances befitting of the Street urchins in the build up to the elections and still having their party claim victory at the polls?

We need to decentralise power, reduce the power of Abuja and give the regional governments some level of control over its resources. That way, a Warri youth wouldn’t give a shii.t about what the Bourdillion lion is on about or if a 3 year old kid is voting in Zamfara. That way, you wouldn’t have to fund the profligacy lifestyles of some politicians whose states and/or region is contributing nothing to the National purse!

I really don’t see a meaningful headway out of our current predicament as a nation. The youths are ever docile, the most docile youths in the world. Just take a look at the general populace, we’ve become so helpless that these politicians know that they’d get away with just about anything. It’s insane sharing the same country as most of my fellow citizens. Sacrificing my life for Nigeria is never a problem, but you I.diots would continue living your lives like nothing happened. It’s painful watching Nigerians live a subpar life abroad -people with masters packing sh.it of old people, doing maiguard and taxi drivers and all sorts of odd job just because the leadership and electorates back home are some unreasonable set of humans. Sad sad sad!

That’s all. It’s not the end to life.

The end of Tinubu is near. Either by humiliation or Abacha-route. Watch out. His influence shall not exceed 2023. Ambode exhausted all routes to pacify him. He even sent his wife to trail the god of Bourdillon. He Tinubu just played God in the life of another human.

He almost did the same thing with Fashola but save for the PDP controlling the central government and by extension “the judiciary”. He’d have received his disgrace under the Fashola government because documents to aid his incarceration by ICPC could have been fast-tracked. But now he got the central government’s backing.

Remember Tinubu, you’ve got kids. They shall contend with us in the future. We shall point them to these stories. The stage is set. We are not going to spare your offsprings in the power-play of the near future!

I have no respect whatsoever for any South-westerner in Nigeria. You guys sit down to talk about how intelligent you all are but the events in the past few months suggests otherwise! This is the peak of mental-redundancy. I can’t take you guys serious.

And to Ambode, take heart. The governorship position is not the end of life. You shall be honoured in due course.

It’s crazy. It’s funny. White People are funny.

Read the entire story again and replace the woman with “black man”. That’s the pitiable case of black professionals in the West. The white man is never going to take you serious as a black man even when you know more than he does -except you’ve got another white guy in your team who probably knows next to nothing but he’s there to grant legitimacy to whatever the black professional is saying.

That said. I weep for black feminists. The issue of feminism never included them in the first place but they just feel the need to “tag along” like all black people be doing. In all your feminism, dear black women, do you get paid as much as the white woman in the same field? No! The reason for that is because the black man owns nothing and we all got to “hustle” for any crumbs they let us have.

Hence, the issue above shouldn’t be seen as a struggle for all women rather it should be seen as the problem of the white people/white women. When we are able to sort ourselves as a race and a people, we can start purging issues like this within our own communities governed by our own terms and not western influenced ideas! Peace.

Bless you! As for me, I don't even like celebrating feats with "the first black to this and that...". I mean, it is demeaning. You are black, are you not human? It is a better record if it is "the first person to...". Sometimes we as black African people readily offer ourselves up for ridiculous scrutiny from the eyes of the people on the "other" side. That said, imagine a situation were all black graduates in the history of an institution graduated with a pass. Then comes a "first black person" to graduate with a third class, are we to celebrate such too as the "first black person to graduate with a third class?" No! The celebratory theme blacks should strive for is TOTAL EXCELLENCE and not partial feats like this.

From the perspective of sports, Usain bolt isn't just the "first black" to set those records, he's the FIRST PERSON to set those athletic records of his. Hence, we should allow other black women and men grow just like you've suggested sister and not place some unnecessary psychological burden on them like this lady who now "works in San Francisco". Housing problem in Nigeria is a major problem, granted. The problem I've got with this post and a similar post where "FG is set to release N100 billion for capital project is the fact that this government is conspicuously silent on Education and Health sector.

“The funds are for power, works, housing, transportation, defence and agriculture. “

There lies the problem. All I can see from this is that the government is more interested in refunding the funds spent by sponsors of the election. The Health & Educational sector is not a priority to this government! Very sad. Nigeria needs a government that is more interested in paying due attention to this critical sector of the nation.

People need access to good education and health. The government should be ready to make visible spendings on this sector since the PPP option as implemented in the west is still a self-enrichment option for some few elites here in Nigeria, Case study- Lekki Concession Company. Hence the government should be fully alive to its responsibilities in providing the needed attention for the decaying Educational and Health infrastructures across the country.
