Quoting to save.
hayesconcept:
Congratulations, go and prepare for your interview like a pro. Prepare your answer using STAR techniques. I.e Situation, Task, Action, and Results. Always talk more om action and results. Always personalised your experience, make use of more of ‘i’ rather than ‘we’. Practice like your life depends on it and record yourself during the practice too.

If you read the Civil service Competency Framework you will get an idea of the type of evidence they are looking for in terms of positive behaviours that you are expected to demonstrate. These can shape your answers, even if you don't know 'The' Questions.

Managing a Quality Service

• How do you and your team understand what the standards required by your customers are?
• Give me an example of how you have demonstrated an understanding of customer needs
• What steps have you taken to understand how you and your team perform against performance/ customer standards?
• How do you respond to customer feedback?
• Can you describe a time when you have been proactive in finding a solution to a problem encountered by your customers?

Leading and Communicating
• When communicating to staff how have you ensured your communication is clear, well structured and tailored to your audience?
• Can you give an example of how you have engaged your team in discussions about changes taking place in your unit, business area or Department?
• Tell me about a time when you have had to influence a senior manager, stakeholder or partner and how you went about this?
• Tell me about a time when you have had to use written communication to successfully influence someone? How did you go about structuring your written communication?

The plural of anecdote is anecdotes, not evidence.

Attempting to extrapolate individual experiences to cast a group of people as having any particular character (whether positive or negative) always leads to nothing but prejudice.

Congratulationss 🎉
Overthinker:
Encouraging someone out there to keep applying for these jobs because that's what this thread did for me. If I wasn't following this thread I would think once I secure a good warehouse job, I should keep it, but I kept applying, different jobs different role and now I have my offer letter for an entry role with a bank. It's not a big salary but promise of growth is enough for me to start from there. Warehouse is an honest job and a good one, but nothing stops us from aiming higher. All the arguments or the fights, all the differing opinions, believe me it goes a long way in helping the new immigrants. So let's keep aiming higher.

They pay nurses better than the NHS, almost double hourly rates.
Zahra29:
Re the bolded, is there more behind why these nurses are working in care homes?
I know a lady who was a qualified doctor in Nigeria. She moved here but could not pass her medical exams, so she had to get work in a care home instead. This was many years ago. However even if she was British she still would not have been able to work as a doctor without passing the relevant exams.

Of course a lot of immigrants are affected when policies change and disrupt their plans. But it's not an agenda against immigrants per se.The bottom line is that the UK in general does not like high levels of migration and will always make moves to limit it.

I was very clear and careful with my post,: “Depending on what the actual content is about, Content creators are not the reason for stiffening immigration policies”

I clearly said content creators posting USEFUL INFORMATION. So all the other things you’re saying, I don’t know where you saw them from in my text. And no, my account was not hacked. 🙂

ehizario2012:
Honestly was your Nairaland account hacked? I am quite surprised at this line you towing... Put information in text and cut out the "noise" on video channels!
And who told you those content creators are not eh ones selling CoS??
Ukvi needed tiamiyu iscariot before finally announcing their decision, they thrive on public opinion/validation!!!
I am surprised at the level of decorum among Zimbabweans, even though they perpetrate the biggest CoS scam! You don't see them twerking on YouTube in the name of "5 ways to beat UKVI controls"
We need to sanitize ourselves!!!
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Thewritingnerd(f): 3:10pm On Dec 07, 2023
Why should it be banned for immigration-related information? We also see levels of insanity even on text-based platforms like nairaland.

Lol, once again, the real problem people have with content creators is that they’re passing information that most Nigerians love to hoard! That’s the real thing pinching most people about content creators. You don’t want “crowd”.

Depending on what the actual content is about, Content creators are not the reason for stiffening immigration policies
Some nigerian immigrants will purchase fake COS. Others will “run” fake marriages to fake dependents. Those sets of people will now have the audacity to come fix their mouths to blame content creators. THOSE are the people all this anger should be directed at, not content creators. But as usual, Nigerians love to blame baseless things as the cause of a misfortune.

I hope content creators never stop. Those “4 easy ways to get xyz visa” and other informative videos you don’t want to “cast” (as the information-blocking person some Nigerians are) go a long way to help someone who needs it. 😊

ehizario2012:
Honestly I think they should ban YouTube, X and tiktok for anything UK immigration related, e don over cast! Let information be passed through Nairaland and other such text based forums, at least all those Olosho and yahoo boys who Japa anyhow won't be able to bring up senseless video contents littered with poor grammar! Typing and constructing simple English sentences would chase them off Nairaland I'm sure! Information would be kept sane and controlled that way

What other ways are there to pass vital information, pray tell? I mean, that’s what social media platforms are for, I believe. Someone here posted about CV library and that immensely changed everything for me with my job search. That person chose to use text format to pass that info here on Nairaland.

Another person could have chosen to set up ring light and open YouTube channel to pass same info, and there’ll be absolutely nothing wrong with it.

So I ask, is it the method of passing the information you don’t like, or that you don’t want too many people knowing about a useful information that’ll help them? 🤔

Also, what is wrong with a travel agent or a student advising people about how to apply for jobs?
Greathand01:
Dear sis, you know there are other ways to pass vital information other than carrying ring lights and opening channels. How can a travel agent or a student be advising people on how to apply for nhs jobs.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Thewritingnerd(f): 10:20am On Dec 07, 2023
First of all, you have the wrong person so maybe check the name again.

Secondly, Tiamiyu and my statement are completely two different things. I am asking the OP if by “cast the update”, he wants useful information to be shrouded in secrecy from his fellow countrymen.

Thirdly, people’s grouse against the Tiamiyu guy even makes me laugh, (granted that the Tiamiyu guy absolutely goofed), some people always make it sound like he’s the sole reason why the UK is suddenly clamping down on previous immigration routes.

Is it Tiamiyu that wants to tell the UK what they can obviously already deduce from data?? The UK already had that information in hand, and like always, just needed a black face to use to peddle and ease into whatever they already wanted to do.

The REAL problem a lot of Nigerians have with content creators is because they keep “casting the update” you want to keep hiding from your neighbors. It’s to be saying “na God oh” if someone asks you how you did it, instead of pointing your brothers to information that will help them. Na why una dey always vex for content creators be that.

“Content creator” and “ring light” people are not the reason for immigration reforms. The ABUSE of immigration pathways by some of our countrymen selling fraudulent COS and bringing in illegal dependents is the reason for stringent immigration reforms.

Make una leave content creators and “ring light” people alone make dem breet abeg. The real anger should be directed at the FRAUDULENCE of many of our people. Not that someone is exposing the fraudulence, which really is what that Tiamiyu guy did if we’re being honest.

Thegamingorca:
No be you dey blame tiamiyu a while back for the new stringent immigration reforms grin grin

When you say “cast this update” you mean you don’t want your other country people to have access to this useful information that could also help them?

Greathand01:
So we heard o..we hope ring light tik tok people won't cast this update again....

hustla:
Its a one sided submission and that's where the issue lies.

Folks in Biomedical sciences, Education, HR should be able to thrive just as much as those in Tech.

I do understand that they have to do what they need to do for their political party to thrive but the policies may stifle immigrants who are paying every step of the way

For instance, I may have to pay £2900 for PSW. That extra £1000 could have been used to write CISSP Or contribute towards buying a house.. Or even visit home but alas..

Renewal in Canada is less than £350 so you can't blame folks who have issues with their policies
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Thewritingnerd(f): 11:46am On Dec 06, 2023
That small salary part ehn! I can’t believe the peanuts they pay people who keep vulnerable and ill people alive. It’s so— 🥴

hustla:
I don't have any issues with their policies tbh as it's up to me to leave or stay and I have maintained my position from the day i landed in this country.

I know they will feel the effects in the coming months and start fighting in house. Na that one I dey wait for cos its always funny

If I had a nurse wife, the UK will be the last country we will consider. Too many wahala, restrictions, complains and unstable policies. Ontop the small average salaries they earn at the end of the day

grin

Wait really? This hassle-free? 😳 Wow.
iyatrustee:
You can actually apply online. Cost 30k and turn around time about 72-96hrs.

Open an acct with www.possap.gov.ng and apply. I just received mine yesterday. They sent a pdf copy to my email

They basically search the criminal conviction database up till the time you left Nigeria.

💯
Taal17:
They shared with you their experiences which are valid and true. Learn from it.

There many people here, came into the UK at different times to different cities and with different levels of supports both from Nigeria and in the UK.

Is it as difficult as those ppl told you? YES . It's the truth do not ignore.
Could it be easier for you ? YES and NO.

You need to sit down and think about
time you want to migrate
the cost to you personally to migrate
the living costs in the UK at the time you want to migrate
and your own personal reasons for migrating.

If you are looking to others to tell you what to do then you are avoiding being responsible for your actions.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Thewritingnerd(f): 6:02pm On Dec 05, 2023
Well, this isn’t entirely right because theres also an “illusion of choice” where the available choices are limited or predetermined and set to intentionally steer you in a certain direction.

So it’s not exactly “free choice” if the choices they’ve intentionally made available steers you in a certain direction and you HAVE to make it, because your survival depends on it. Anything that involves survival cannot be said to be “choice”.
Zahra29:
No one was forced into care. Many people e.g. with families chose the care route to avoid the cost of IHS. Many chose to prioritise a quicker /surer route to settlement over following their chosen career. Many chose care over PSW for the above reasons.
All valid choices, but they were not forced.

Filipino nurses have a higher number and have garnered a fantastic reputation over time.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Thewritingnerd(f): 8:23pm On Dec 04, 2023
The care visa doesn’t cover a doctor/nurse, I believe.

Stenvee:
So if a doctor/nurse already working in the UK needs to renew their visa, does this mean their existing dependents would no longer be allowed under their visa?
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Thewritingnerd(f): 8:21pm On Dec 04, 2023
Nigerian nurses nko? 🥹 No recognition both home and abroad. Na wa oh 😩
Zahra29:
Defo lol. Nurses, doctors and other medical personnel are the only immigrant group to come out unscathed from today's announcement.

Filipino nurses even got a special mention in parliament
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Thewritingnerd(f): 8:19pm On Dec 04, 2023
So those currently with dependents on their care visa have to send their dependents back home? 🤔
Zahra29:
Yes,

Anyone requiring a care visa, both in and outside the UK, would be classed as an overseas/foreign care worker
