Nursing MSc course go soon start to choke now. Lmao. 💀
Zahra29:
Although health care workers are exempt from the salary threshold increase, they are the only cohort who are now no longer allowed to include any dependants on their visa.

Also the new requirement for an agency or care home to be regulated/aka scrutinised by the CQC will lead to an effective cap on the number of cos/care visas that will be granted

After all that’s been said, I just hope the next tenant to that landlady is someone who really has all the luxury of time and resources to slug it out with her.

It’s ironic talking about:

“laws should not be abused” and “abuse we are suffering in Nigeria”

… and in the same breath blaming the OP for involving enforcement agencies that could have stepped in but are delaying. And still yet blaming the OP for not paying a rent to a place with no doors.

Very contradictory, I have to say.

toughest007:
Show me where I advised the OP not go to court and claim millions or not to call the police on her or not to fight her and her kids or not to abuse her or not to break her doors too!

Don't be silly young man! Laws are not meant to be abused!!! It's such stupid mentality that brings about the abuse we are suffering in Nigeria.

“You think this life is all about gragra... “ is exactly what will keep emboldening the landlord to do the same to any immigrant tenant coming after him.
toughest007:
Encouraging the OP not to pay his rent and asking him to go after his deposit is the law you have been quoting! How has the OP benefitted from all the laws you have quoted?

There are certain circumstances when common sense kicks in... Continue to pray and quote the law and not know when to apply common sense.

You think this life is all about gragra...

Yes yes, thanks a lot!

It is actually Monday to Sunday. So, whatever work you do for that period must not exceed 20 hours, regardless of whether you had 0 hours of work the previous week. Hope I got your question correctly.

Hello good evening all, @Duchess and all,

Please for the 20 hour per week student visa restriction, what days count as a full week? Is it Monday to Sunday?
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Thewritingnerd(f): 9:39pm On Nov 30, 2023
I have absolutely no idea, maybe someone else knows

Hello everyone I would like to know if anyone has an idea when an intent offer letter can be received from a bank role which resumption is for January and the interview has been conducted and told successful for a week now. Just a bit impatient now after so many unfortunate emails. I don't know if anyone has been in this position and how long did the offer letter take? @Thewritingnerd @Goke7 @hustla

Yes, but depends on the organization, some starts their week on Sunday to Saturday, ask them
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Thewritingnerd(f): 9:37pm On Nov 30, 2023
EDIT: Wrong calculation. Lol. Should be Wednesday to Tuesday in that case, so still 20 hours. Apologies. 💀😬

[s] Ermmm this wouldn’t make sense and i know this is not the case;

because if you work from Monday to Wednesday on a 7/7/6 hour rota, taking a Wednesday to the next Wednesday would equal 26 hours, so no. So I’m pretty certain that’s not the case. [/s]

I just want to be certain what constitutes a week with the 20/hour restriction: Sunday to Saturday or Monday to Sunday.

MichaelUde:
The word "week" here doesn't necessarily mean calendar week, ie. Sunday to Saturday. It means any period of seven days.

So you should not work more than 20 hours within any 7-day period.

Or they should just make the base salary for any healthcare position 35k 🙈🏃‍♀️
Zahra29:
They definitely will not scrap PSW in the immediate to short term - that is off the table.

They are looking at other measures instead and as part of this they will raise the salary threshold eligibility for a skilled visa - though not as high as £45k (likely around £33 - £35k) but in any case they will exempt health and social care workers from this salary requirement.

Zahra29:
Fair enough.

Seemed unlikely to me that the lady who revealed that she had met a wealthy European who wanted to pay off her tuition fees, and she wanted to go away with on a weekend trip with him (within a year or less after arriving the UK) would be in a genuine, subsisting relationship with her spouse or long term partner.

But I suppose stranger things have happened, especially when considered that sham dependent arrangements are vanishingly rare. lipsrsealed

Hehe... capacity, passion and empathy. That can be said if any role including okada drivers back home. I want my okada driver to have passion for riding okada.

You want people who think highly of it but want to pay minimum wage? hehe..

There are 150k care vacancies at same time about 150k additional people go on longterm sick leave every month many collecting benefits that on their own could rival minimum wage while some still work cash in hand...

The irony dey shock me.

As a student who just came in September this year can I travel to France for just 2-3days stay?

I meet an admiral (Italian) but also a British citizen about a week ago and he wants me to go with him for holiday.

He also wants to pay my balance tuition worth £14500, he took me to see some of his restaurants in Brighton and also to see his house located at Brighton Marina and other properties.

I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about or what you’re even on about.

You outlined something that piqued my interest about rent payment vis a vis purchasing properties, I wanted to see more about how to approach property-buying in the UK and asked for a section specifically dedicated to that.

Pray tell, how and where does this question say to “carry” anything anywhere?? :

“Please is there a dedicated nairaland section for UK housing and other mortgage topics?”

What’s in the air today? God abeg 🥴

I keep saying we need to respect our hustles. No profession is useless to the person doing it so far as it brings food to the table and help clear bills. Having said this, support and care jobs are much more than what it is portrayed. I have listened to people paint it bad before others but remain in it. Others have painted it rosy... At the end it all boils down to you seeking employment to do your research on what you want or what you don't want.

On the rent issue, like the care and support issue, it's just a friendly advice to not be too comfortable doing things temporarily but rather work towards self-sustenance in our lives.

An IT Professional from Nigeria now doing care or support or factory jobs to make ends meet for example should not try to make it permanent (except that's their preference though). Same with paying rent... You can't continue paying £1500 every month for years, aim at getting your own place if you can. That's all... Friendly advice we shouldn't be tearing head over 🤷🏿‍♀️🙌🏾

And more than two people have told you it is. You’re the only one interested in SEEING and asking for said proof. Nobody else is because most see it. So look for it? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also because it’s not that you don’t even see it, you’re just playing needless semantics snooker.

What you’re essentially doing is like arguing that the sun shines but you come in and say “no, it beams, there’s a difference between beaming and shining, bring proof that it shines”;

Anybody proving such to you is basically wasting their time. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Viruses:

Viruses:
Or perhaps you should pay more attention to details. The OP said people here say care work is useless.

Talking down on care work is different from saying care work is useless. A lot of professions have been talked down on here, but saying "people say care work is useless" is way too much of a mis interpretation.
