FirstbornWds:Lol, I'm just grateful his early injuries did not rob us of witnessing the greatest displays of supreme magic ever seen in football. I earnestly hope Ansu fully overcomes the setback. |
Kilishihunter:I also liked that he shot from that angle after the run. He showed world class hunger that was refreshing to see. |
Kilishihunter:It's wise for him to hold back until he's fully healed to avoid going under the knife again. The drawback is that if he stops doing the instinctive extraordinary things he used to do pre-injury for a while, he risks losing his magic altogether. This makes me appreciate Messi's come back even more after a 4-month injury lay off back in 2007. He became even more magical. |
Bimmarlykay:Tbh, I'm a bit worried about Fati. Though he recently returned from injury but I just cant shake off that nagging feeling that his progress in recent times seems to have stunted. His play during this classico was a bit rusty. I hope he fully recovers his initial spark. |

Kilishihunter:True. Xavi's impact last season was very evident despite the Europa exit. Agree that the promising outlook at the end of last season must have convinced Laporta that Xavi was the right man. Our rivals should be very very afraid lol. |
To be honest, I'm loving Laporta's shrewd style of doing business this year. Maybe I can even learn a few management tips from him. First, he aggressively leveraged on the might of the Barca brand to forcefully attract players. He publicly reinforced Barca's premium value at a time most people had written off Barca's standing as an elite club. This resonated with quality players who did not mind taking pay cuts to join the Blaugrana. Lesson for me here is to know your worth and promote this without apologies to naysayers. He has also been able to insure our failure risk that's associated with buying elite players by making them all to accept significantly reduced salaries than their worth. The catch here is that even if such players flop like in the case of Greizmann, the wage burden wouldn't be too much to bear during the interim period for offloading such players. So instances of putting in little work and earning bumper pay like Ozil, Hazard and co. would not happen. Even though at this point, nothing is guaranteed but it all looks to be in the right direction and there's a whole lot to be excited about. Hopefully, happy times ahead for Cules. |
Kilishihunter:Mr Kilishi himself. The faith Laporta has put in Xavi is quite remarkable. He let him retain Dembele when he would have preferred him to leave. Also broke the bank for Ferran, Raphina and Lewandowski just for Xavi given Barca's dire financial situation. Reminds me of his trust in Pep back in 2008 but the difference is back then, the revolution did not require additional investments but a clear out. So Xavi really needs to repay Laporta with trophies this year. |
Jokerman:Not true? Pls tell me which is false - that Benzema scored 5 goals in a league season and was often seen as a sort of striking misfit (Benzemiss), or that Bruno, Greenwood, Cavani, Pogba were doing very well before Ronaldo came. Or is it Chiellini's criticism of Ronaldo or Dybala's struggles with Juve playing alongside Ronaldo? My proof is that all these things happened and I am logical enough to see a pattern with them. An obvious pattern I must say. Suarez and Neymar flourished and reached their career prime as Messi's attacking partners and were both nominated for Ballon d'or final three, something you can never say for CR's attacking partners. Even Rooney reached his goalscoring prime in 2009 - 2011 after Ronaldo left Man utd. Van Nistelrooy's numbers dropped as soon as CR joined united and picked up again after he went to Madrid. Meanwhile, Messi also contributed to Mbappe's spectacular last season with several assists to him. Messi doesn't suppress strikers, he enables them. |
Jokerman:My brother, Ronaldo has a track record of suppressing fellow teammates creativity simply because he commands attention for the ball as a touted messiah making others lose their initiative which may be difficult for them to regain. Benzema just discovered that he is Ballon D'or material after Ronaldo left. Benzemiss he used to be fondly called then. Imagine a striker scoring 5 goals a season playing alongside Ronaldo, even worse than Messi's supposed worst goalscoring season in PSG as a midfielder. Dybala lost his mojo as soon as Ronaldo came. The guy is still trying to recover. Bruno's woes after CR's arrival has been well documented. Same with Rashford, Cavani, Greenwood and Pogba who were on an upward trajectory before Ronaldo's arrival. Chiellini confirmed this saying Juve lost initiative by depending on Ronaldo. This is beyond trolling, it's a logical fact that Bayern should obviously avoid. |
OJEEMAH:Lol no vex, I never come Abj since na. I go ever reach out as soon as I'm there. Since the season ended, I've been mostly off the sports section. Like you said, Bayern are resolute about the way the club is managed and would not likely bend for someone that may scatter their system. |
OJEEMAH:Absolutely. Fear of Messi dey drive sense far from them. |
Jokerman:At least last season, Gnabry scored 17 goals while Sane scored 13 goals, even old Muller put in 10goals and 22 assists. If Pendu comes, dem no go see shingba score. Just ask former Bruno Penandez who became Bruno Missandez upon sniffing CR's boxers ![]() |
Jokerman:Bro, I just want to hear SIUU in Europa ![]() |
OJEEMAH:Clubs now know that Ronaldo is all about himself and not for the team. He is a mercenary as shown with Juve and Manutd. Bayern are well aware of the CR effect and wouldn't want newly signed Mane, Gnabry and Sane to become Wasiu's unfortunate victims. Truly na fear of Messi dey push Pendu on all these Mungo park journey. Make him go Atletico, Simeone knows how to use nearly expired strikers well. |
Jokerman:So that by the time Sane, Mane and Muller stop scoring una go talk say na CR dey carry Bayern on hin own as usual. Why is it that you so called man U fans want your best player to abandon your team? And una go dey justify am with bullcrap. Fake fans ![]() |
OJEEMAH:OJ my guy. True, It was the same tactic he used to eventually get Ronaldo to Man u last year. Wasiu is looking for easy way out. Even after selling Lewy, Bayern has still maintained they dont want CR. I hope they dont budge to Mendes' antics. |
Slynation:It's Jorge Mendes that's hawking CR to Bayern by all means necessary. Bayern has already said no but Mendes is putting them under pressure. Maybe CR has told him his job depends on Bayern accepting him. Let's wait and see how it goes. |
Numerouno94:Lol, dont mind Wasiu. 10 logs of wood and one superhero agenda in the mud. The news source itself is more hopeful than factual. The ESPN quoted said Bayern and Atletico were only monitoring his situation rather than expressing active interest. Oliver Kahn said he no want, Salihamidzic talk say they no want. I dont know about Simeone though. Baba must do SIU in Europa se ![]() |
Like the breath, I need to live, Jehovah takes, Jehovah gives.. He is now taken. RIP Lionel Peterson, one of the great gospel singers that shaped my teenage years. |
Ara21:That your little nephew should be Baba Bomboy now ![]() |
elpochas:Lol, most Italy lovers then preferred Carbone, the guy with the bandaged head cos he had maximum shot power. Favorite teams for me then were Argentina and Holland. My favorite players were Fuerte, Redondo and Van Wijk (long haired dutch guy with mad shotpower). Actually I still have a functional sega mega drive with the ISS Deluxe cartridge but I don't play it but only keeping it as a memento. |
BoredBerry:Consciousness is part of it but it's much more than that as someone who has lost consciousness such as in coma will still have an active soul. It is more like a life force, that transmits functionality to an assemblage of body organs and enables distinct personalities. It is what distinguishes humans/animals from robots who also have a "brain processor". |
BoredBerry:Thanks for your comments. But you'd notice I mostly used uncertain terminology in my post, because at this stage what is known about memory transfers is still mostly conjecture. Now to the specifics, you cannot be too sure that the soul and brain have no link. It is the soul (life) that activates brain activity. You can have someone with the brain gone but is still technically alive. But you cannot have someone with an active brain that is soulless. Note I am not talking about first few minutes of death where some brain activity can still be recorded which is attributable to the shutting down process of the brain. This is similar to the typical jerks of a newly decapitated chicken even sometimes in the cooking pot when they are already dead. I also do not recall anywhere in the Bible where it is stated that animals have no souls. Note that my reference to soul is interchangeable with spirit. Whether humans or animals, they all have an intangible inner personality which basically constitutes the "life" of the body. This is what I believe switches the brain on in humans and animals alike. |
Hmm, insightful. What you described was the theme of the robot movie Chappie. It sounds like it should be doable theoretically, but it has been an impossibility so far. From a spiritual angle, the brain is the core, the essence & the engine of the soul. When the soul departs the body upon death, the memories as well could have gone with it. My point is without a soul, the brain has no memory and vice versa. This may be why the memory transfers are still an impossibility. What about brain transplants? |
Despite the obvious flaws I was still slightly entertained by the movie, so I watched it at a stretch. Most obvious gap to me was that the story line was poor. One hour into the film, I was still trying to get what the plot was about. I didnt know whether Sharon Ooja was the main character or Gemma, or was it even Nse? Sharon especially delivered a disaster class in acting. She was doing too much too much of the time.Toke did not fare much better. Even Uzor Arukwe's igbo accent sounded forced and fake. I've heard much better effortless deliveries from grade B actors. So many blanked scenes leaving the mind to wander what the hell was happening. I suspect Alexander (lynx) was sexually abusing Gemma's kid to warrant her killing him, but there isnt even enough from the movie to conclude that conclusively. A 5/10 for me. |
Retilinks:Well, I can't speak to the veracity of the figures. Comment was based on what I saw just like the person I quoted. |
temielects:If you remove the NGN in front and the 2 decimal digits at the end, you'd see that the balance is just about 700K. May your balance be way longer than that bro. |
McLizbae:Lol, the first three characters of the balance is NGN and not 641, so the guy only has about 700k in balance from what I see in the screenshot. |
obembet:Which wrong accusation? It's even beyond me Ojeemah and Paulolee now as most nairalanders and even some from your CR camp have clearly seen how you've turned a general news forum into a CR7 fandom site in collusion with some mods. Frankly, I don't see the business sense in you guys' decision to boycott positive news about Messi. Didnt know Messi was giving you peeps so much pain to the extent of abandoning economic sense for personal bias. But it's futile cos water will always find a way out. Obembet just rest. A little trolling here and there will not kill you. |
obembet:I was preparing my bomb letter to you. You better hide your face now ![]() |
Obembet don see fight come concede small As e don see say Messi don overrun his fave's thread.A point of correction Madam abi na man. Messi is the first and only player to score 5 goals for club (UCL) and country in history. So your attempt to limit this achievement to his record with Argentina is dead on arrival. Walahi Pendu dey enjoy since o. If the GOAT had also been feasting on WaSIU's favorite exotic delicacies from Luxembourg, Andorra, Armenia and co since, he would have been the highest goalscorer in history already with not less than 200 goals for Argentina. The sweetest thing for me is that Ronaldo's fans cannot troll Messi for this record without automatically also trolling their fave because his highest national goalscorer record is chiefly sponsored by the same unknown geographic territories they are downplaying.
