Sports › Re: Cristiano Ronaldo Extend His Tally Of International Goals To 117 With His Brace by ThierryJay:
Lol, Obembet will never disappoint with her petty style: Ignore Messi's triumphs and celebrate Wasiu's irrelevancies.

Messi has scored 5 goals in a single match against the European opposition Ronaldo so loved to statpad against, yet it's the 2 tap-ins Ronaldo scored that's worthy of front page. Messi won MOTM in the Euro-Conmebol super cup with an outstanding display orchestrating the destruction of the European champions, yet he was ignored on Nairaland.

The great thing is that although you created this thread for Wasiu, na Messi we go use am celebrate. The GOAT can never be hidden under Obembet and Nairaland mod's putrid bias.

It's obvious that if Messi were also playing the likes of Estonia, Moldova, Liechestein, Andorra, Faroe Islands, San Marino and so many other bricklaying teams every year like Ronaldo does, he'd be the highest national goalscorer with not less than 200 goals for Argentina by now.

I'm just happy that Messi had a taste of what the best and worst of European team had to offer all within a week, and he laid them both to waste. A big L for the dunces downplaying the Copa and saying Argentina wouldn't cut it against European opposition.

Maybe he's nervous playing against a legend like Nadal.

Early sets though but he needs to raise his game before this games runs away from him.

Nadal has been dictating the play effortlessly. smiley

Scored a hatrick against Brazil; has scored against France before and also had 2 assists against them at World Cup 2018; Has also scored Spain in a 4-1 win back in 2011.

Sports › Re: Lionel Messi Ranked As The Third Best Performing Player In Europe This Season by ThierryJay: 6:01am On Apr 28, 2022
Obembet and Lala wouldnt see this one now. Na to be forming village witch on top Messi dem know.

Whoscored ratings are algorithm based using weights attached to set parameters and as such they are very objective.

It just means that we have taken Messi's performances for granted, such that a good display for other players will be bad for Messi. Unlike ignorant fans and emotional pundits, Whoscored will not erase all the good work you've done just because you missed a penalty such as against Madrid. It will consider everything.

Sports › Re: Does Karim Benzema Deserve The Ballon D’or This Year 2022? by ThierryJay: 7:13pm On Apr 27, 2022
Benzema deserves the 2022 Ballon dor and I think he'd win it even if Madrid dont clinch the UCL. Debruyne and Salah will have to do something really spectacular in these last 2 or 3 UCL games and the EPL to wrest it away from Big Benz.

That said, I wonder why CR dimwits are still comparing Messi and Benzema on this topic. The mental retardation on display is cringe-worthy. From Lewandoski, to Mbappe, to Salah and now to Benzema, all still being compared to Messi who has already paid his dues more than any other player ever?

One thing is clear from all this: Messi's superior Ballon dor wins completely killed CR fans and triggered a wave of uncoordinated, thoughtless attacks on Messi from the empty brains in the absence of any credible intellectual weapon to wield again. How can a CR fan be using Benzema, Mbappe or Lewandoski to troll Messi? Imagine using Fabregas to troll Ronaldinho in 2007, or Fernando Torres to troll Ronaldo De Lima in 2008? Imagine using Stoitchkov to troll Maradona in 1994? It should defy logic but apparently WaSiudeens defy sense.

Your CR can never be GOAT by proxy. That Mbappe and Benz are doing better than Messi (and CR) now does not give CR any superiority over Messi. Sensible peeps will look at total careers and not a single season where in actual fact both players were below their usual standards.
Romance › Re: How Much Is Nairaland Worth? by ThierryJay: 2:48pm On Apr 27, 2022
SmartPolician:
All these figures are mere assumptions.

What makes a site profitable to its advertisers (and prospective buyers) is its convertibility. How many times do Nairalanders order products and services advertised on this forum? That's the conversation we should be having now.

Our disposal income (or purchasing power, if you will) in Nigeria is very poor. Money is not circulating. We have a situation where the government is not creating decent jobs and a few corrupt government officials are enriching themselves.

The implication is that young people come online to take out their frustration. Attack women and attack tribes. But these people don't order anything online because they are flat broke - no thanks to the government.

Besides, tech gurus say that Nairaland has some foundational issues that cannot be easily fixed if not by reshuffling the entire forum. This explains the limited features we see on this forum, with no improvement year in, year out.

With these points, I think putting Nairaland at 8.5b is simply overestimating it.

Before you come to wail on my mention, this analysis doesn't mean that Nairaland is useless. It is the most useful site in Nigeria, as many people come here to get information and answer to questions.
I tend to agree with you that the 8.5billion valuation may be overestimated, yet the true worth is way more than the 150million on offer in the initial post.

Dont forget that despite the plethora of broke people, a lot of other people still do business on Nairaland and are able to monetize up to millions. There are blossoming careers that are leveraging on Nairaland in the real estate, autos, dropshipping, and several other unpopular sections, but because our focus is often on politics, entertainment, romance and sports sections we think not much money can be generated from Nairaland.

Another aspect is that because Nairaland itself is a successful media and publicity entity, there is an intrinsic value or goodwill it possesses which is not based on cashflows but its continental popularity. Meaning that whoever wants to purchase Nairaland is not buying only its cashflows, but also the automatic publicity it gives its owner as well as the immense advertising potential.

In all, I would go for a more conservative estimate of around 3 to 5 billion Naira, factoring in the weak naira due to current inflation and exchange rate.
Politics › Re: Tax Evasion: Reps Summon Trade Ministry, Over MTN ₦2.6trn Naira Waiver by ThierryJay: 10:59am On Apr 27, 2022
The 2.6 trillion is not a tax waiver but a certificate from trade ministry stating that MTN invested in capital assets of 2.6 trillion. Mtn will then use 30% of the certified value to offset its taxes.

The real question is whether Mtn truly invested up to 2.6trillion in capital expenditure. It looks a bit high but if they did, then this is a non-issue.

The boss want to buy this platform...how do you respond to it?
The offer is way too small and actually an insult.

N100million that cannot buy a correct house in Lekki, is what you are saying a whole Seun should give up a continental Nairaland for?

There are probably people that have made that 100million through doing business on Nairaland sef. That should give you an idea of how much this forum is worth.

Paystack was bought for 200million dollars. You now want to buy Nairaland for less than 200thousand dollars. Is Paystack more than 1000 times the worth of Nairaland?

numerous threads about messi goal n his league win are in sports section bt none would make d fp bcoz he isnt cr7..
all this bias n hate for messi only starts n ends here, messi is a born winner n gat nothing to prove to be crowed the GOAT..
I can only imagine how pained she was seeing Messi score a worldie and PSG win the title, and how she must have seethed angrily with every positive news about Messi on various Sports site since Saturday and how she must have waited and waited for the tiniest bit of negative report to the extent of latching on to a fake one just to showcase her miserable existence without Messi bad news.

The sweet thing is that her rantings takes nothing away from Messi's GOAT status which has been sealed since achieving the perfect Seven.

He is the reason PSG lost in RO16 Missed a crucial penalty.
Nonsense and overrated player.
He is NOT the reason PSG lost in round of 16. Even if he had scored the penalty, PSG would still only have won the first leg 1-0 cos they would have gone defensive to protect the lead and Mbappe would not have been under pressure to score the dying minute goal.

He will always be GOAThead and shoulders above your Cristiano Wasiu. His seven Ballon dors are a testament to that and there's nothing your miserable hating self can do about it.
Sports › Re: Pochettino: PSG Fans Booing Messi Is 'Unbelievable' by ThierryJay: 1:43pm On Apr 25, 2022
Obembet you are simply an incorrigible hater.

Messi scored a goal of the season contender in that same match and cinched the league title for them, you did not see that to report separately, since you are the mods anointed one for FP. You are now bringing an irrelevant news for Messi to be criticized. Even the news is fake cos it was the entire PSG team including Mbappe that was booed.

How hard is it for you to just say congratulations? And you'd be yapping about how you also respect Messi and Ronaldo together. When Ronaldo lost his kid, even Messi fans set aside their personal sentiments to commiserate with him. I repeat, how hard is it for you to rise above immature sentiments and congratulate a league winner who lit up the game with a stunning goal?

Nairaland mods are your enablers. It's unfortunate that they are bringing their personal bias into sports reportage. They've turned a once impartial forum sportswise into an anti-Messi site to the extent that they could not even report on a top five league title win on FP.

I know it's the fact that Messi is widely considered the GOAT of football that is seriously paining them. Even at that, because the GOAT is in PSG, you decide not to report any positive news about PSG or Messi?, the fact that he has had 22 direct goal involvements in a supposedly poor season? That is simply incompetent reportage.

Both PSG & Man United finished 2nd in their league last season

They signed Lionel Messi & Cristiano Ronaldo respectively

Lionel Messi has helped PSG to reclaim their title with 17 direct goal involvements while Ronaldo is improving Man United by leading them to the conference league with 19 direct goal involvements. .

We all know why Messi is the GOAT.
