As far as I know, you’ll still use your school’s address. A number of US Colleges have apartment style accommodation to cater for students that have families, so, it’s not a big deal

Ormoretayour:
Good day,
What if its family package, F1 and F2 with a kid, will it be advisable to say we will be staying in campus?
Please what can be the answer if V.O ask Where did u plan to stay in US? Please any idea.
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by ThisGuy2020: 6:12pm On May 15, 2022
Good day.

For ALL student visas, the address where you'll be staying in the US is your school's address, even if you plan on getting an apartment eventually.

Abeg, no use your hand do yourself lol

hallabuddy:
Good day all, pls I’m asking his for a friend.
Does indicating that you have family in the US help or hurt your chances of visa approval. Also is it wise to use their address as where you intend to stay in the US on the DS-160? Note that they live in the same City as the location of the school. Thanks

This is quite a good transcript, if I do say so.
An addition.

You'll have to properly demonstrate that your mum is very financially buoyant since you want to go to medical school after your undergrad, cos medical school in the US is mad expensive. And you'll also have concrete plan's for when you're done with medical school in order to justify the huge investment.

But all in all, you're a traditional student, so hopefully, you won't have too much problems.

Cheers.

itsamara:
Good day everyone. Please I would like you all to help me review this transcript and also indicate questions that could be asked that I missed. I would like to know if it is convincing enough or if I still have to work on it.
Thank You

My Situation: I am an undergraduate student who graduated last year and also a minor. I have also been denied a b1/b2 visa 2/3 times I think in 2018/2019. I also have 3 relatives there in the Us but they are not my immediate family.

Vo: Good morning please could you pass me your I-20 and passport
Me: Good morning. Here you go (Passes the documents)
Vo: I can see you have been denied a visa before, what was the reason
Me: Yes. I believe I was not able to convince the consular officer enough and I was also very young then
Vo: Okay so what are your travel plans.
Me: I plan on going to the US for my bachelor's degree in Biology at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond Louisiana to pursue a career in medicine. I chose Southeastern Louisianna university because it will provide me with important field-based learning opportunities, research programs, and internship opportunities which I believe would help me develop adequate skills and knowledge and also build my extracurricular profile for medical school.
Vo: Why the US?
Me: The US has a good educational system, various learning opportunities, and expert faculty where I could develop adequate knowledge and skills I would use to improve the healthcare system of my country. I would also love to experience the cultural diversity as I would be able to interact with people from different parts of the world
Vo: Why did you choose this course
Me: I have always had a strong passion for medicine since I was a child and also enjoyed biology as a subject back in high school so I decided to major in biology since it is something I have an interest in and would also help me complete my prerequisites for medical school
Vo: okay that’s nice, So uhm…when did you graduate high school?
Me: I graduated last year October. The 2021 SSCE/WAEC was delayed so I ended up applying for fall 2022 instead and I had not taken my SAT and TOEFL exams which I took in December 2021 and February 2022. I have waec certificate and score reports here with me if you would like to take a look
Vo: So tell me what have you been doing since then
Me: I took preparoty classes for SAT and TOEFL exams after which I decided to learn some skills so I started makeup and hairdressing lessons for 2 months each.
Vo: Have you ever travelled out of the country?
Me: Yes i have once to the united states in August 2016. I went for a visit
Vo: And you did not overstay your visit?
Me: No I did not
Vo: Do you have any relatives in the US
Me: Yes I do have 3 relatives who all stay in xxxx
Vo: Okay I see. Who is your sponsor?
Me: Although I have a partial scholarship, my mom here would be paying the deficit. She works as a xxxxx where she earns an annual income of Bleep and also owns an apartment building in Bleep which is rented out to get another amount of income. The apartment building is worth Bleep. She has been working in Bleep for over 15 years now. I have her bank statement if you would like to view it
Vo: So what do you plan to do after you return
Me: Upon completion of medical school I plan on taking up a job in either a public or private hospital and apply the skills and knowledge I gained to improve the healthcare system of my country. I also hope to build my own hospital one day to make create services for my people

Have you gotten a date now?

Diezmanstrasse:
Hello everyone,
I appreciate the support we’re all giving ourselves here.
I’ll be resuming to an Ivy-L school with full ride financial support and fellowship this fall. After paying for SEVIS and MRV, I scheduled a visa appointment for February 2023, which was the only available date. I made the decision with the aim of applying for an emergency appointment to meet up with my August resumption date.

I would like to seek your comment on the following;
1. While filling for emergency appointment yesterday, I had technical issues, hence, my request was submitted without my support documents upload (I-20, Sevis, and admit letter). In such situation, would you advise that I send an email or call the embassy about this technical error?

2. How many times can one apply for emergency appointment?

Thanks.

In addition to this, you should also look at smaller state colleges and HBCUs. There are a good number that are not selective and offer scholarships to international students for Undergraduate studies.

Moshkom:
“ Dear Undergraduates,

I know people on educational committees and advice groups have not been nice to you.. You can’t blame them because undergraduate funding is as hard as finding gold or crude oil.. but fear not these are 10 schools you should focus your search on. They are very generous (even for international students) and if you have a good enough holistic profile you certainly have chances of being funded

1. Utica University
2. Duke University
3. Vanderbilt University
4. Amherst College
5. Berea College
6. Princeton University
7. Soka University (STEM inclined)
8. University of New Mexico
9. University of Notre Dame

These schools boasts of at least 90% funding for their undergraduate program which in turn will make them very competitive. So please evaluate yourself very critically, take tests (SAT, ACT) and pass them well, improve your extracurricular and leadership abilities, showcase your athletic capacities and pray for grace.

Love always

Jesse ❤️ “

Education / Re: Study In The US Fall 2023 (undergraduate/bachelors) by ThisGuy2020: 8:52pm On Apr 29, 2022
If you want to study Bachelor's in the US and you're looking to get a very good scholarship (at least, a full tuition), you should start planning from now.

Search for schools you want to apply to and get all their admissions requirements down.

A good number of schools that offer scholarships to international students will require you to evaluate your WAEC result course-by-course via WES. Please check their admission requirements very well.

Start getting ready to write essays.
Start getting ready to ask your teachers for recommendation letters.

Most importantly, start prepping to write your SAT.

A good SAT score is the first and most important step to studying Bachelor's in the US with a good scholarship ( apart from getting a your international passport).

I'll keep on dropping updates periodically.
Stay tuned guys.

I know that it’s just an estimate but I no want make mistake dey my DS-160, so if anyone has an idea, please answer.

Thanks.

Education / Study In The US Fall 2023 (undergraduate/bachelors) by ThisGuy2020: 2:14pm On Apr 13, 2022
Good day everyone.

The purpose of this thread is to direct people who plan to study in the US in the Fall 2023 (for Bachelor’s degree or Undergraduate degree only)

The best time to start your preparations is now. I’ve created this thread to offer my own insights and advice whoever needs advising.

I’ll also be doing some SAT prep.

So if you’ve got any questions as regards studying in the US (for Bachelor’s only), kindly drop them.
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by ThisGuy2020: 1:56pm On Apr 13, 2022
I think you can only request an expedited date when it’s 60 days to your program start date.

If you are to resume in the Fall, I don’t think they’ll answer you. Unless you’re resuming in the summer, them I’m not so sure.
shawnmich:
Good day guru, can anyone please advice on how to expedite my emergency date request. I requested for this since March, no response since then and my school will resume by next month, first week.... Any help please?

Studying abroad is a very expensive and peculiar journey. You should make up your mind to spend a lot of money in your #AbroadRuns.

If money isn’t an obstacle for you, you should definitely look towards the UK. I think the only credentials you to gain admission need are IELTS and a WAEC result.

If money isn’t an obstacle and you want a quicker and surer root to PR, you should go for Canada. You’ll need IELTS, I think.

If you’re looking for any sort of scholarships, partial or full, you should look towards the US. You’ll need to write SAT tho.

Please take my advice with a grain of salt.

Christabeliciou:
Hello gurus,

Pls assist me, it's possible this question has been asked and answered, pls pardon if it has Biko.

With the current Incessant ASUU strike, my son gained admission last year to UNN Chemical engineering, his Waec is very much good.
I want him to look for University he can apply to for scholarship either fully funded or half or none.

I made an enquiry to the proprietor of the lesson he was attending before he gained admission if they have any particular plan in place for such undergraduate that are at home as a result of the Strike, he said no. But
he suggested foreign Exams like SAT.
To study in the US or Canada.
Please advise me on which of these listed he should write ( (SAT is 65k, IELTS is 80k , TOEFL is 120k)

Thanking you very much

There are quite a number. However, most won't have good scholarships.
Na Fall 2023 sure pass if you're looking for scholarships

Naijablackboy:
Please do you know of any that's still open for applications, I've done my research and seen a couple. But more alternatives won't be bad

Unfortunately, a lot of them are taken around December/January and so it'll be hard to see now.

Lies. Branches have not input whatsoever. Don't let anyone deceive you.
I have done form A using Zenith Bank and UBA. No one can influence your application.

Your form can actually be influenced if you know someone in the bank that you applied at. That’s just facts.

Good day.
Please, I want to inquire the exact contents of the affidavit used. Thanks

Prettiepearlz:
I was at WAEC office today, I processed mine and a friend’s. I did both affidavit at the court at sabo Yaba for NGN500 each. The woman initially didn’t want to sign my friend’s affidavit but I pleaded with her and she accepted. I printed at NGN200 each. Everything that completed affidavit was NGN700 each. It would have been lesser if I got the affidavit format earlier and had it printed in the office, but it’s all good. Note you can do the affidavit yourself, just enter the court house, ask the security personnel for direction to the affidavit office and they will direct you. It’s on the first floor, the office is close to the staircase. Avoid unnecessary expenses of 1500 as it didn’t take me more than 15 mins and this was because I had to go outside to make photocopy of the affidavit after it was signed and stamped. I almost fell for the 1500 because I was at Yaba yesterday too and I was too tired to climb the stairs, I was told NGN1500 by one baba, I priced at NGN800 but said no and insisted on NGN1200, I agreed but unfortunately by the time we were done printing, they had close in the court office which was a blessing in disguise even though I was pained that I only came to Yaba to print paper because I discovered that the guy that printed for me didn’t edit the WAEC year to reflect mine, I had to get him to correct that this morning and reprint. I collected my printout and money from the man and told him I would come do it today. I went there today, I almost patronized the man again, but I decided to go inside myself because of how much of a big deal they made the affidavit sound. That was how I got it done without stress for NGN500 though receipt says NGN250. At WAEC, I was allowed to courier my confirmation of results and scratch card with that of my friend and it saved cost as both envelopes are addressed and will be stamped across, so it doesn’t matter how it is packaged. WAEC also didn’t take time at all. The only downside is the fact that we would get tracking number in 2 months, that’s what the courier woman told us, I was shocked but wetin we go do now? Hopefully it wouldn’t be up to that time.

The OP is in Nigeria. Do you walk up to guys you crush on in Nigeria to ask if they are gay? You guys know the situation of things in Nigeria and you know there's a limit to your rights at this moment. I'm surprised when you come online play the "activist" and advice someone to do what could turn out to be a dangerous move. When a gay person likes you, he'll give you hints as much as you give him. This, and online meeting are the only feasible options for now. If he's not showing interest, the OP should back out so that it wouldn't turn into harassment. The OP's safety comes first.

Except if the stories I hear about Africa are exaggerated.

All you said is true. But I'm saying that me walking up to someone and asking the person if they're queer isn't what makes them homophobic. And my action is no reason for them to be homophobic. In Nigeria or wherever.

If he didn't come out to you as gay, leave him alone.

You guys should stop giving homophobic people reasons to hate!

If you don't ask him, how will he know?
Plus, a homophobe has decided within him or herself to hate homosexuals. The only reason why homophobes are homophobes is because they choose to hate gay people.
