Politics › Boko Haram: What We Know About ‘arrested’ Borno LG Chairman— Commissioner by Thisis2raw(op): 12:51am On Jan 03, 2017
Borno State’s Commissioner for Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Usman Ali Zanna, yesterday, described reports about the arrest of Chairman of Mafa Local Government Area, Shettima Mafa, over alleged Boko Haram connections as ‘a very worrisome twist.’

He said contrary to media reports, the chairman was not arrested but, rather, he reported himself to the military.

Usman Ali Zanna also said the chairman was known as someone, who for years, worked closely with hunters and military commanders in Mafa against Boko Haram.

Zanna, however, said his Ministry neither questions the judgment and authority of the military nor exonerates the chairman of any wrongdoing in order not to pre-empt the ongoing investigation.

According to him, “if not for media reports on this matter, the Ministry for Local Government and Emirate Affairs, which oversees the affairs of the 27 local government areas in Borno State, would have preferred not to make public comment on a matter that is still being investigated by the military establishment.

“First, contrary to media reports that the caretaker chairman in question was not arrested, he reported himself to the military command in Maiduguri after he got information that he was needed by the military.

“Secondly, contrary to reports by the media that he was arrested at the 1,000 Housing Estate along Maiduguri-Damaturu Road, he lives at 505 Housing Estate, located along Dikwa and Mafa: the way to the Chairman’s office in Mafa.”

Crime › Police Arrest Suspected Burglar Of OOU Hostels (PHOTO) by Thisis2raw(op): 11:27am On Jan 02, 2017
A suspected member of a notorious robbery gang that had been terrorising students of Olabisi Onabanjo University, OOU, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, who live off campus has been arrested.
Recovered from the suspect, identified as Onyebuchi Chika, were a sewing machine, some cooking gas and mattresses suspected to have been stolen from the students apartments. Chika allegedly broke into the students’ apartments around Awa Ijebu and its environs at the weekend, where he succeeded in carting away some property of those who had travelled for Christmas. He reportedly came back to continue with his criminal act when luck ran on him after a male student, who was returning from an
outing, raised alarm.
A student, Lola Gbemiga, who explained how the suspect was arrested, said: “He attempted to run but some residents chased him and held him until the arrival of policemen from Awa Ijebu Division, who later took him away.
“Burglars have been disturbing us in this axis and we hope this arrest will send a signal to others.”
During interrogation, Chika admitted to have burgled several apartments in the area, adding that most of the apartments were those of female students. According to him, “I have burgled several students’ apartments in the area. I usually operate when they are not at home, particularly during holidays. I sell the loots and spend the money on food.”
He added that he decided to operate on New Year eve so as to use the proceeds from the loots to celebrate.
Spokesman for Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the arrest, adding that some house-breaking implements were also recovered from the suspect.

Family › Man gives his wife the silent treatment goes for 20years without speaking to her by Thisis2raw(op): 12:49pm On Jan 01, 2017
A Japanese man refused to talk to his wife for 20 years despite living in the same house as her.
Otou Yumi shared the home with his wife, Katayama, and their three children in Nara, southern Japan.
Katayama tried making conversation but only ever received a nod or a grunt in response, Mail Online reported.
The two-decade long silent treatment was revealed by the couple’s son Yoshiki, 18, who wrote to a TV show asking them to intervene. The show brought the pair together in the park where they had their first date, as their emotional children watched on.
'Somehow it's been a while since we talked.“You were so concerned about the kids,” her husband responds, adding. “Yumi up until now, you have endured a lot of hardship. I want you to know I’m grateful for everything.”
As their daughters are seen becoming emotional, Otou goes on to explain that he has been giving her the cold shoulder out of jealously for the attention lavished on the children.
“I was kind of ... jealous. I was sulking about it. There’s no going back now I guess.”
