This one really get as e be! Nawa o!! |
Hidden away from the outside world lives an extraordinary family who seems to have escaped four million years of human transformation Tucked in a remote corner of Turkey, this is a bizarre tale of the Ulas family whose members have ape-like gait and walk on all fours. Out of 19 children born to Resit and Hatice Ulas – five siblings walk using their feet and the palms of their hands with astounding agility. A sixth sibling also walked on all fours, but sadly died aged five. Sisters Safiye, Hacer, Senem, and Emine and brother Hüseyin have spent years being tormented by cruel villagers in the Hatay Province of southern Turkey – close to the border with Syria – with rocks and insulting names often hurled in their direction. The four affected women tend to stay close to the house fearing taunts from other people. However, according to scientists who studied the family, their brother Hüseyin wanders for several kilometres and has basic interactions with other villagers. Scientists across the world have been left absolutely baffled by what seems to be an extraordinary glitch in the evolution cycle of humans. Early theories suggested the siblings walked as our early ancestors would have on all fours, offering a glimpse into the distant past. The Ulas family was only brought into the public sphere after British scientists saw an unpublished paper by a Turkish professor in 2006. And the stunning revelation tore up science books as their quadrupedal gait had never before been reported in healthy, adult humans. A 70-year-old dying man revealed to police on his deathbed that he was one of Japan’s most wanted fugitives. He died few days after confession. The man claimed to be Satoshi Kirishima, a radical extremist behind bombings in the capital who had been on the run for 50 years. Last week local police were tipped off that he might be sheltering in a hospital not far from Tokyo. When they questioned the man, he told them that he had been hiding under an alias in Fujisawa City – just an hours drive from Tokyo – for decades. The man claiming to be Kirishima said he had terminal cancer and wanted to finally admit his real identity before his death. He apparently revealed details about the bombings that police didn’t know before. Four days after he was questioned the old man died on Monday – before police could confirm his tale. DNA tests carried out on him and relatives of the suspect Kirishima were apparently compatible, Japanese outlet Kyodo News reported. But police refused to confirm those reports. However National Police Agency chief Yasuhiro Tsuyuki said: “We believe that the man who died at the hospital after claiming to be Satoshi Kirishima was actually the suspect”. Wanted man Kirishima was part of a militant group that bombed Tokyo repeatedly in the 1970s. He had been studying at university in Tokyo when he joined an extremist left-wing group called the East Asia Anti-Japan Armed Front (EAAJAF). Breaking News!! The Federal Government is considering a policy that will result in mandatory conversion of foreign currencies in domiciliary accounts of citizens to naira to stabilise the national currency. If the plan succeeds, the government will order the conversion of foreign currencies sitting in individuals’ and corporate organisations’ domiciliary accounts to naira at a rate to be determined by the Central Bank of Nigeria. One of the Presidency sources told Punch that the problem of forex scarcity and the naira fall was an elite issue, adding that the Federal Government would not fold its arms and continue to watch some individuals hoarding foreign currencies at the expense of the naira. The source told the publication, "The problem of dollar scarcity is an elite problem. You will notice that this happens at the end and the beginning of a new month. That is when the exchange rate goes up. Invariably, that is when governors collect FAAC (Federal Account Allocation Committee) allocations. Whatever the connection, we don’t know. "There is no country in the world where people open domiciliary accounts to keep dollars. It happens only in Nigeria. This must be addressed. This is not only a political issue, but it is also an economic issue that must be addressed. Genuine demands driven by economic activities can’t bring this huge pressure. By June, dollar demands are supposed to have gone down when Dangote Refinery must have started. "Nobody should keep a domiciliary account if they do not have legitimate foreign currency earnings like salary or getting foreign exchange revenue, either as an individual or as a company. Even if you have foreign exchange inflow as a result of your work, immediately after the money lands in your account, the banks should automatically change it to the local currency and your local currency account will be credited with the equivalent value. "In Nigeria today, there are over $30bn in domiciliary accounts of individuals. It is in the CBN account. The records are there. It is not right. These are issues we will have to deal with. In other countries, dollars are not meant to stay in peoples’ accounts." Edun said Nigerians have huge funds in domiciliary accounts and hold large sums abroad, which can be deployed to rejuvenate the economy, adding that his team was working to provide the needed environment to attract such funds into the local economy. "These brave Americans and their families are in my prayers, and the entire Department of Defense mourns their loss." - US Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III |
The United States is set for a revenge mission against Iran. The US has approved plans for a series of strikes on Iranian targets in Syria and Iraq. It comes after a drone attack killed three US soldiers in Jordan, close to the Syrian border, on Sunday. The US blamed an Iranian-backed militia group for that attack. Iran, meanwhile, has denied any role in the attack which injured 41 other US troops at the military base, known as Tower 22. Four US officials cited by Reuters have said that US intelligence believes that the drone used to attack the facility was manufactured by Iran. At a news conference on Thursday, US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin said the US would “not tolerate attacks on American troops”. “We will take all necessary actions to defend the United States, our interests and our people,” he said. “We will respond where we choose, when we choose and how we choose.” Several Iran-backed groups have increased attacks on US and Israeli-linked entities since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas war on 7 October. Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, are something else Birds of a feather |
Mali and Burkina Faso have officially communicated their decision to withdraw from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), with Niger anticipated to join them shortly. This development follows the announcement by the military regimes of these countries to exit the regional bloc, citing concerns over threats to their sovereignty. The Foreign Affairs Ministry of Mali shared with AFP a copy of its formal notice to ECOWAS, while Burkina Faso’s official news agency confirmed its own notification. The trio, founding members of ECOWAS since 1975, have faced sanctions from the regional group following military coups that displaced elected civilian governments. The three countries, now part of an Alliance of Sahel States (AES), accused ECOWAS of falling under “the influence of foreign powers” and betraying its foundational principles, viewing it as a threat to member states. Nigeria, a regional powerhouse and host of ECOWAS, expressed regret over the departure of the three countries. In a statement released late Monday, Nigeria’s Foreign Ministry emphasized its commitment to due process and the rights and welfare of citizens in ECOWAS member states. The statement criticized the actions of “unelected leaders” in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, accusing them of denying their citizens fundamental rights.
