The agreement was signed as a last minute effort to avert the planned nationwide strike.

It came after a meeting held between both parties, the second one in 24 hours.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by the representatives of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, the Trade Union Congress, TUC, and the Federal Government.

7. The issue of outstanding Salaries and Wages of Tertiary Education workers in Federal-owned educational institutions is being referred to Ministry of Labour and Employment for further engagement.

8. The Federal Government commits to pay N25,000 per month for three months starting from October, 2023 to 15 million households, including vulnerable pensioners.

9. The Federal Government will increase its initiatives on subsidized distribution of fertilizers to farmers across the country.

10. The Federal Government should urge State Government through the National Economic Council and Governors Forum to implement wage award for their workers. Similar consideration should also be given to local government and private sector workers.

PoliticsIPOB Denies Ownership Of Camps Bombed By NAF Jets In Anambra, Says Military Lied by Thonyb(op): 4:29pm On Sep 28, 2023
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, a secessionist group in the country has denied ownership of camps bombed by the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) in Anambra and Imo on Tuesday.

The spokesperson of the Air Force, Edward Gabkwet, had in a press release on Wednesday revealed that the Force conducted airstrikes, hitting camps belonging to IPOB and their armed affiliate, Eastern Security Network (ESN).

He said the airstrikes were conducted following intelligence reports that the insurgents were planning to unleash terror on people in the area.

But IPOB in a press release by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful maintained that NAF lied, insisting that the group does not own camps in the areas mentioned.

“We debunk the claims by the Nigerian Air Force of bombing IPOB’s ESN camps at Osumoghu in Nnewi South LGA of Anambra State and Osuihiteukwa in Orsu LGA, Imo State.

“We are bold to say that ESN does not have camps in any of the bombed locations.”

The group stated the bombed camps were those of terrorists sponsored by the leader of a splinter group, Simon Ekpa, who is based in Finland.

“The Nigeria Air Force should stop lying and blackmailing this peaceful IPOB with the so-called bombing of IPOB’s ESN camps.

“For public information, IPOB doesn’t operate camps in those locations. IPOB has offices in Biafra Land and in the diaspora. We are not criminals or terrorists otherwise civilized countries would not give us the freedom to gather in their countries.

“What IPOB has is the Eastern Security Network (ESN), whose primary duty is to secure our bushes and protect our people. The general public should ignore and disregard the rants of the Nigeria DSS-sponsored criminal and agent provocateur in Finland called Simon Ekpa and his gangsters who are always impersonating ESN to demonize IPOB and Mazi Nnamdi KANU.

“The Nigeria Air Force must call those criminal camps they bombed by their names and not mention ESN or IPOB.”

The group also condemned the action of NAF in bombing the locations, saying that while it protests terrorists in the north, it is deploying jets against those in the east.

“As much as we detest the criminals impersonating IPOB and ESN in their violent activities in the name of the Biafra struggle, we nevertheless condemn the bombing of any part of Biafra Land by the Nigeria Air Force.

“If the Nigeria Air Force has functioning fighter jets to bomb criminal hideouts in the rainforest of the Southeast, why then have they not bombed terrorists and bandits who are in the open in the desert lands of the North?” The group questioned.

Bakare said Mohbad reaped what he sowed while he was alive.

He spoke at a church event in Leicester, United Kingdom, yesterday.

Speaking on the theme, ‘Harvest,’ the clergyman said, “My wife and I listened to a tape last night on MohBad. How many of you know MohBad? The Nigerian artiste who died at 27? MohBad.

BusinessSuspend Naira Redesign Indefinitely – CPPE Tells CBN by Thonyb(op): 8:27am On Sep 25, 2023
The Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise has urged the Central Bank of Nigeria to indefinitely suspend its Naira redesign policy.

The Director of CPPE, Muda Yusuf disclosed this in a statement on Sunday where he outlined the ten-point agenda for the newly appointed governor of CBN, Olayemi Cardoso.

.ng recalls that on October 26, the apex bank announced Naira redesign policy, with the January 31 proposed deadline to withdraw N200, N500 and N1000 old naira notes.

Consequently, Nigerians experienced naira scarcity in the first quarter of 2023 following the Naira redesign policy implementation.

On March 8, the Supreme Court intervened, ordering an extension of the deadline for old N200, N500, and N1000 withdrawals till December 31, 2023.

Yusuf asked Cardoso to suspend the policy indefinitely because there is no compelling argument for its implementation.

He noted that the momentum for a cashless economy should be sustained without resorting to the crude methodology of cash confiscation.

He said: “The naira redesign policy should be suspended indefinitely. It should not be a priority at this time. There was no compelling argument to undertake the naira redesign in the first place.

“The approach was disruptive and inflicted unbearable hardships on businesses and the citizens.

“Economic activities need not be disrupted to achieve a reduction in cash transactions in the economy.

“Indeed, Nigeria has one of the best rankings in cash dominance metrics. Cash as a percentage of GDP in Nigeria is one of the lowest globally at less than 2 per cent. For many other developing countries, the percentage is as high as 10 per cent.”

PoliticsTinubu Hidding Chicago Varsity Records Embarrassing To Nigerians – Timi Frank by Thonyb(op): 4:25pm On Sep 22, 2023
A former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has described President Bola Tinubu’s move to stop the Chicago State University (CSU) from releasing his academic records as embarrassing to Nigerians.

In a statement issued Friday, he wondered what Tinubu was hiding that prompted him to hurriedly appeal the judgement of a US Magistrate Court that ordered CSU to release his academic records.

Tinubu had pleaded before a United States judge to save him from suffering “severe and irreparable damage” by placing an emergency hold on a recent Court order for his university records to be released.

The President, through his lawyer, claimed that the damage he would suffer would be impossible to mitigate if the order directing the release of his academic records to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar is not delayed for possible vacation.

“If you know you have clean academic records why are you fighting to stop their being released?

“What ‘severe and irreparable harm’ will you suffer if the records are released?” Frank queried.

He called on Nigerians to own the fight to ensure that the President has authentic academic records and not to leave the efforts to an individual due to potential political and diplomatic damage it can do to Nigeria if glossed over.

“This fight should not be for Atiku Abubakar alone. Nigerians must rise up and demand to know the academic records of their President.

“Tinubu’s desperate attempt to buy time with his recent appeal is a huge embarrassment to Nigerians both at home and in diaspora. Why does the court ordered release of Tinubu’s academic records appear like a matter of life and death to the President?

“Tinubu, please stop embarrassing Nigerians through this do or die attempt to stop your academic records from being released. Nigerians are eager to know who their President really is.

“The more you fight to conceal your academic records, the more you damage the image of the country and its ability to attract investors who want to do business with genuine and trustworthy partners and not those believed to have skeletons in their cupboards,” he said.

“The management of the Polytechnic directed the security unit to transfer the case to the Police for thorough investigation.

“Preliminary investigation by the Police and further medical examination carried out at the Police Clinic, proved that Mr. Isiaka Abdulsamad had no problem with his manhood. This confirmed that he fabricated the story in an attempt to gain attention on trending delicate stories of manhood theft.”

Meanwhile, the management of Kogi State Polytechnic has advised the general public to disregard any rumour that a candidate’s manhood was stolen on the campus of the institution.

Clement was said to have commited the crime on September 4, 2023, around 2:30 pm at Baba Odun Camp, Ofosu in the Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.

Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has confirmed that he will spend N5 billion to refurbish the Governor’s Office in Calabar to befit its status.

He disclosed this during an interaction with journalists, saying such an office ought to be the signpost in the state.

He said he will also renovate all the state liaison offices in Abuja, Lagos and elsewhere to similarly carry the same signpost insignia.

The governor stated that the state he met the governor’s office was not befitting, and that renovating it to befitting standard can even help to appeal to investors willing to do business with the state.

“I will not stop to spend money to make the governor’s office very befitting. It ought to be the signpost of the state. I will do the same in all our liaison offices.

“It’s when you make your abode or office befitting that will add value and appeal to investors. Filthy environments and poor architectural outlook can discourage.

CrimeMan Remanded For Alleged Organ Harvesting, Conspiracy In Benue by Thonyb(op): 11:23am On Sep 15, 2023
A 20-year-old man, Aondoaseer Agbadu, has been remanded at the Federal Maximum Correctional Centre after his arraignment at the Magistrate Court, Makurdi, the Benue State capital, over his alleged involvement in conspiracy and organ harvesting.

Agbadu’s remand in the correctional centre took place during a court session on Thursday, where no plea was taken due to issues of jurisdiction.

The case was brought to light when Alexander Swati, a resident living opposite the Benue Internal Revenue Service office in Aliade, reported a grievous case to the police on August 27.

Subsequently, the case was transferred from the Divisional Police Headquarters in Aliade to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Makurdi, as per a letter dated August 30, with reference number AR:3100/BNS/AL/VOL.4/258.

According to Inspector Godwin Ato, the police prosecutor, the events unfolded sometime in April 2023 when Agbadu, who resides opposite Union Bank in Aliade, allegedly conspired with unidentified accomplices.

They deceived and transported Swati’s 17-year-old son, Terungwa Swati, to Abuja.

While in Abuja, the prosecution alleged that they conducted a surgical operation on Terungwa without his consent or that of his father, harvesting one of his kidneys, and subsequently selling it to another individual.

As the police investigation into this disturbing incident continued, Agbadu was arrested and brought to court to face charges.

Inspector Ato cited that the accused had violated Sections 27 and 20 (1) (2) and (3) of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act of 2015.

The Magistrate presiding over the case, Mr. Taribo Atta, has adjourned the proceedings until October 23, 2023, for further mention.

This delay allows additional time for the ongoing investigation and legal processes to unfold.
