PastorKun: Meanwhile I want you to read deut 14:22-29 and compare the tithing instructed by God there to the fraudulent man made version preached in churches today.
I read that portion and it was the instruction God gave the children of Israel through Moses. We are not under the law of Moses so that instruction does not apply to Christians.
I do not follow the tithing doctrine preached by any church.I follow the examples of Abraham,Isaac and Jacob who understood principles of faith and how to apply it.
What you are against is that Christians should not follow the law of tithing as established in the old testament and I agree with you on that.

PastorKun: Truth is bitter but that is the incontrovertible fact. cool
My truth or your truth?
By the way, fact and truth are not the same.
Christianity Etc › Re: ..the Best Place To Pay Tithe by thorpido(m): 12:08pm On Jul 26, 2014
PastorKun: That's the bitter truth, tithing started with babylonian and Egyptian pagans. If in doubt, Google is your friend.
Pagan custom and God let Moses make it a law for the children of Israel?
Don't let us drag this further. It's ok to stick to your position.
Christianity Etc › Re: ..the Best Place To Pay Tithe by thorpido(m): 11:46am On Jul 26, 2014
PastorKun: You are still assuming that he tithed cause the bible does not state so. That aside tithing was a pagan custom in babylonia were Abraham came from. It makes sense that Abraham tithed as a result of the custom of his people as his tithe was not instructed by God. If in doubt, you may wish to Google 'babylonian tithe'
Tithing was a pagan custom yet Moses made it a law for the children of Israel? He instructed them to follow a pagan custom?Hear yourself.

America misleads naive young muslims to such attacks.

Christianity Etc › Re: ..the Best Place To Pay Tithe by thorpido(m): 10:16am On Jul 26, 2014
PastorKun: There is NO where in that chapter that stated that Jacob gave a tithe, expect you want to twist a conditional promise by Jacob to tithe to mean he actually tithed.
If the bible records in Gen 28:22 that he made a vow to give a tenth of his possessions to God,you don't think he did it.......common!
Anyway, like I said, people have different schools of belief and that is why we have many denominations in Christianity. It's okay to stick with your own side.

You need to look at the area where you are seeking admission and in what school?I usually advice people to go into areas of their strength.
You can't be applying for medicine for instance if you are weak in chemistry, physics and biology. Some institutions are highly competitive too so you may have to check others.
Also have you been preparing well for your exams?
Travelling out of the country is not the solution. You still have to study abroad if you do travel.

Christianity Etc › Re: ..the Best Place To Pay Tithe by thorpido(m): 2:28pm On Jul 25, 2014
PastorKun: Not my opinion but incontrovertible bible based facts and doctrines in an untwisted format unlike what you have in your church were the gospel is merchandized.
I could choose to prove my 'facts' that the bible itself is controvertible.Nothing you say will convince me otherwise. How do you prove to me that Jesus died and rose the third day?
I still maintain it's your line of belief.Anyone can choose what side to fall on.
Jacob gave tithe to God not because anyone forced him or quoted a law.He did it of faith.

Op,people have different bodies.I have seen a 20yr old with fallen bossoms and she was never married.
If you can't afford bossom surgery now,get your wife push-up bras and let her wear it most of the time.

Also work on your mind.Things are not going to remain the same. You must have heard what goes up,comes down.
You can get coloured bulbs for your room so the lights are dimmed.

charlsecy: Please read your Bible. Abraham tithed from spoils of war. There is no record of Isaac and Jacob tithing. Please read your Bible. Please!
The bible is our reference. Not emotions or feelings.
In Gen. 14:18-20 Abraham gave tithe. You say it was from spoils of war but they had become his possessions.I hope you understand they could take spoils in the old testament.
In Gen.26:25 Isaac built an altar after God had blessed him.
In Gen 28:12-22(note 22)Jacob made a vow to God to give a tenth to Him after he had the dream.

Moses when he came after these men made it a law for Israel so there could be uniformity.Abraham and his son and grandson did it without the law.People who have a problem with tithe say we are not under the law which is true but Abraham did it without the law and the bible says we are children of Abraham.
Again Jesus said He came not to abolish the law but to fulfil it.

pragmatistm: She is still your mother, no dispute about that. Try and respectfully inform her that you do not appreciate her influence on your family and that she should leave you with your choice of husband. Having said that, you still need to support her as much as you can financially. Remember you have a duty by God to take care of your parents as they grow old eventhough she didn't carry out her own duty of raising her children properly. If you refuse to support her then both of you shall render an account to God. Remember also that two wrongs can't make a right.
she really doesn't owe her and God won't make her accountable. She could however do what she wants out of goodwill and a good heart.
Family › Re: I Need A Good Advice On This Issue, Someone Please Help!!! by thorpido(m): 8:26pm On Jul 24, 2014
Find forgiveness in your heart......for your own good.
However, you do not really owe her and the choice to give her money(and keep giving) is not mandatory.Don't ever feel the guilt if you don't meet her demands.
She had a choice to sow in your lives and she didn't,so she shouldn't reap where she didn't.
She bore other children for the man she married and those are the ones that owe her.

@Op,you've got issues but they are not strange. They are psychological and hormonal.
Read goldenboy007's comments and article. You are experiencing post-coital tristesse mixed with some psychological issues.
The people insulting you don't understand how these things work. They are not deliberate actions most times. How do you explain a woman who gives birth and immediately resents herself and the child she gave birth to?I've had a woman tell me she feels irritated when her husband makes love to her.I asked if she doesn't love her husband, she says she does. She says it's just the sex thing.

I will advise you see an elderly doctor who will explain and also do much counselling for you. It's something you can overcome.

You obviously didn't marry properly. What you have is not a marriage.
It doesn't look like it's something that can be salvaged too cos your husband's heart is not in it.He's already bringing in other women.
You need to pick up yourself.Get a job and build your self-esteem.

Don't get carried away with the men coming. Many are just coming to chop with the line that they will marry you.Of course you can get another husband at your age but many guys will say,'I don't mind with your child'.Very few are willing to take that responsibility.

qstar: I've been withholding mine since. All through my Christianity era, i never tithed.
Still wondering why god didn't strike me down.
God is not striking anyone down for not paying tithes.
There are levels of revelation and relationship with God you will not know until you do certain things.
Abraham walked at a higher level of relationship with God than his peers. The bible records that he tithed.Isaac, his son and Jacob, his grandson also did.

It was a form of it.Pastors are also priests.
Christianity Etc › Re: ..the Best Place To Pay Tithe by thorpido(m): 11:30am On Jul 22, 2014
dorox: But none of the first century christians were priest. Can you show me from the bible where any of the apostles collected tithe?
Like I said before, only levites can collect tite, and you can only be a levite by birth.
They were. The bible did not record every event they took part in the focus was more on spreading the Gospel. The story of Ananias and Sapphira gives us an idea that Simon Peter played the role of a priest.

Rev 5:10 says 'And He has made us unto our God Kings and priests, and we shall reign on the earth'.

wealthinfos: dont forget our focus on this post which is effective and efficient utilization of tithe monies. Are these churches really utilizing these monies to develop the society in general and not just thier church?
Then the title of your thread should read; How do we ensure effective and efficient utilization of tithes?
The church is where to pay tithes.Looking at ways to ensure the money is effectively utilized is another thing.
