Fasting is for individual self spiritual development.Every Christian needs it.

No man's death has any significance (and cannot have) like the death of Jesus.

Jesus did.He once told his disciples there are things that can't be achieved but by praying and fasting.

As I said.... Jesus Christ and Moses and even Elijah(I believe) all fasted for 40 days and 40 nights as a result of being with God in the wilderness for that long. The eventual fasting that took place was not planned by any of the men neither were they your [b]6-to-6 kind of starvation diets which you have all taken to formulating pretending you do so on behalf of God.

On more than one occasion, including in Isaiah 58, God has instead cautioned that He does not care for your diets or your starving of your bodies..... in Isaiah 58, He again makes this known and reveals the kind of fasting He prefers from you - the key to letting your light shine as commanded by Jesus Christ.

1. Jesus Christ fasted as a result of spending forty days and forty nights unplanned nights in the wilderness. Same happened to Moses, when, again, unplanned, went to see God. God never commanded them to fast nor were there fasts of the 6-to-6 kind you lot have formulated for yourselves.

2. The fasting which Jesus Christ however commands of you is the fasting that God commanded...which is detailed in Isaiah 58 for all those who will obey Him. This the same Jesus Christ who told you that those who are of Him, those who love Him, are those who obey His commandments- John 14 vs 15 - 25 - His friends are those who do what He says - John 15 vs 14.

So if your religion in no way resembles that commanded of you by Jesus Christ, don't you see how it is in vain?

Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.Matthew 4:1

He was led by the Spirit........ how did you come up with the idea the trip was not planned?

1 Corinthians 7:5 admonishes couples to separate consensually for fasting and prayer and to come together again when the fast is over.When they break fasts,they eat and drink and can enjoy other pleasures(that are not sin when the fast is ended).
