TheSTreetman: Of course the Singular beats Plural.. Most of the reported sales in this thread are filled with Singular domains. Unless some exceptions but majority is Singular. Alright, thanks |

TheSTreetman: That's the thing about Domaining, when the primary domain is already registered (Singular) the plural is not that regarded that's why many Plural domains are available..
As for me... Based on my understanding, i don't look at plural. How about for service/services? Does singular still beat the plural? |

xammax: So someone here sold a name voiceplug/king for $250. Came across the name and was listed for $1,888, guess it was a domainer that bought it from him. mobiss: That name was worth more than $250, but I think is a learning curve for the guy that sold it. I don't think he sold it for $250. He listed it for a higher price I think |

tranxo: So to you, ED is the be-all and get-all of domaining?
Continue using geo mindset to discuss brandable issues. Sorry, I meant hand reg. I'm a newbie that's still learning the ropes in this domain biz, so I haven't got the slightest idea as to wot the be-all and get-all of domaining is. |

tranxo: Wetin concern this issue we are discussing with auctions and backorders? TheSTreetman: Some newbie here maybe working in an Oil company earning over 350k monthly, you don't expect the person to start this business with Geos while undergoing the outbounding stress . Some can be trained in Brandables while venturing into Auctions directly and wait for the right buyer. That's why people like Keith, AbdulBasit TeraDomain etc will tell you that, they're not Flippers but investors.
I saw EmpireNames on Namepros that started domaining something last year but if you see the guy Portfolio and his reported sales you'll understand that levels dey. I'm pretty sure the EmpireNames he was referring to did not start from registering Expired Domains |

tranxo: The term "newbie" doesn't automatically mean impatient or lack of funds.
Some newbies can wait because they are bouyant and have other jobs/businesses bringing in money.
Has it occurred to you that not everybody can outbound? Some have said it here that they don't like the stress that comes with geo outbounding, and would rather prefer the waiting game that brandables demand.
Has it also occurred to you that we all are gifted differently. Some people here can coin great abstract names with ease, but find it difficult picking geos.
So you are saying that every geo must sale, or that geos have no waiting game? Lol. You want someone gifted with coining words to waste 6 months with geo? So one cannot learn how domaining works by starting with brandables?
That "most" people find GEOS easier doesn't mean everybody should be told to jump into geo.
Encourage people to have a feel of the two at the same time, so they can find the one that comes naturally to them and channel more resources to it.
Just because you find brandables hard doesn't mean others will find it hard too. If the person has the funds/patience to start out with both and see which one his calling is then that's cool.. But the vast majority of Nigerians venturing into domaining cannot afford to do that, so there is nothing wrong in telling someone to start with GEOS (since it's somewhat easier) and if GEOS is not ur tin then u move to brandables... Did u start with brandables, if I may ask? |
Business › Re: What To Do To Make Money Online? by thorrvik55(m): 11:48am On Jun 02, 2020 |
tranxo: Of course, if one is happy with his sales, no wahala.
But what happens when after the sale, you realized that you could have gotten more if you had applied some targeted resources.
Some of us are dealing with brandables with Nairaland Geo mindsets (Geo+product/service names sell for 4 figures and above. Check Namebio)
Some geo gurus here make general statements as if they apply to brandables, and some of us will just swallow these statements hook, line, and sinker, without knowing that brandables and geos are significantly different from each other.
Instead of encouraging newbies to test both and know where their strength lies, the only advice seems to be ...
Stay away from brandables
Face only geos for now until you master it, then you can go to brandables (practice with a goat today and face a lion tomorrow)
Don't waste time, just sell at any amount. You may not see another buyer.
Actually, Some people will find brandables easier for than geos, while the flip will be the case for some. And some will even swing both ways comfortably.
The point is, this is business, not charity. I will keep on harping on people learning negotiation skills.
Well, we can either see this as investment, or common buying and selling. I speak specifically in regards to brandables.
We move on. Boss, at the bolded I think the reason for that is because getting sales with GEOS is easier than with brandables (from my experience so far, that's wot I'd say). They advice to start with geo and after getting some sales and understanding how the biz works, one can now delve into brandables because not every newbie can afford to start with brandables and play the waiting game that comes with it |

My outbound letter would be:

Do get in touch with us if interested.
Regards, Thorrvik.
