Joel yanked the door opened and found himself staring at Jeremy and Joan.
'Hey man, to what do I owe this visit?'
'Joan and I are in your neighbourhood and decided to pay you a visit'
Joan smiled as Joel gave her a quick hug and urged them in. She had insisted they visit the Jasons and her husband had finally agreed. What he didn't know was that she had come to show off her newly acquired designers dress to Mich
'Mich, guess who we have here?' Joel asked her as he ushered them into the room.
'Who?'
'My friend Jeremy and his wife Joan'
'Welcome to our home. What can I offer you?', Mich asked with a beam
'Pounded yam and melon soup', Joan said.
'What?', Joel asked.
'Don't mind Joan Joel, she's just bluffing are you not sweet?', her husband asked
'No, I'm not, I...'
'Oh Joan, let's I forget, its late and Mich here is ill, she can't pound yam for you', joel interjected.
'I said it, I really said it but no one will listen to me. A Nicholas or not, Mich is spoilt and lazy and you Joel are not helping her at all. Maureen told me that the only thing your wife knows how to do is in the bedroom. I wonder what...'
'Jeremy, did you bring your wife here to insult me?', Joel asked his friend
'Joan, stop it will you? And apologize to Joel and Mich'
'No, Maureen won't lie to Ann and I'
While all these went on, Mich kept mute. No one seemed to want to see her with Joel. Is she that bad? She drank a glass of water and sighed.
'Jeremy, please take your wife out of my house and never bring her here again until you are sure she has learn how to respect Mich'
'Well I am leaving already, Michelle love, enjoy your husband as much as you can'
She stood up and left, her husband began apologizing to Mich and Joel, he told them good night and left. Joan didn't know Jeremy as much as she thought she does. She no longer respect him and now talk to his friends anyhow. He can't stay married to such a woman. No, soon and very soon, he shall sent her parking.

Outside the Jasons' duplex, as Joan was waiting for Jeremy, her phone began beeping. She looked at the number on the screen and smiled before pressing the receive button.
'Hello?'
'What's the news?', a deep voice asked her
'My money first'
'It will be in your account tomorrow morning'
'Are you sure?'
'Yes, now tell me if Michelle is in that house or not'
'She's there, looking lazy and satisfied and if you ask me, I think she is pregnant'
'Are you sure?'
'Yes, now tell me why you are so interested in knowing if she is in the house or not'
'That woman does not have a base, she is either with her parents or her husband. What kind of married woman is that?'
'That's her problem, just send that money to me'
'I keep my promise woman'
Joan heard her husband's footsteps and looked up.
'Who are you talking to this night?'
'Ann'
'She is beginning to be a bad influence on you, I forbid you from ever seeing her'
'You can't pick my friends for me'
'Get into the car let's go home as you've succeeded in embarrasing me in front of Joel and Mich'
She put the phone in her handbag and climb the passenger's seat. Jeremy drove home thinking of a way to get rid of the she devil he had married.

Tiger stood facing four men, they were all in black.
'Since Michelle doesn't go out, and prefers to stay indoor, therefore making our mission almost impossible,we shall attack her in her husband's house'
'Is it possible?', Dado, a hefty fair guy asked.
'Yes, it will be like a robbery, after robbing them, we shall kill her and another little girl in the house. As soon as we are done, we will all go on exile for maybe a year'
The room hushed. They all knew the repercussions of what they were about to do. Killing a very powerful man's daughter is a crime they won't go scot free.
'We shall be well paid for our troubles', Tiger said
They planned and decided to rob the Jasons the next day. It was to them, a perfectly laid plan.

They laid spent in each other's arms. Joel whispered in her ears the sweetest words she never dream to hear. Just when he was about to climaxed, he had told her three words that had melted her heart.
'I love you', he had said over and over again. She soon heard him snoring softly and wondered again what he had to tell her. She felt happy and satisfied that she really didn't care if Joel married her for her family's money. She wanted a bath but she felt reluctant to leave her husband's protective arms. Finally, she slipped out of bed, had a shower, pick a robe and done it over her body before slowly walking downstairs. She made it to the kitchen and fried irish potatoes and some eggs. As she ate, the door came open and Leila walked in with Paula. The woman must have picked the girl from school. She looked at Mich from head to toe and hissed.
'Leila sweety, don't forget what I told you about Michelle, she is not your mummy and she is very bad, she wanna take your daddy away from you'
The girl looked towards Mich and said with confidence, 'I know mummy'
Mich just kept chewing, she now knew that the mother had poisoned the daughter's innocent mind. She heard Joel coming downstairs and fought the urge to look at him.
'Daddy!', Leila exclaimed and ran towards her father. He picked her up and laughed along with her.
'How is my Angel doing?'
'Fine'
He brought her to the dining table and sat her down.
'Paula, good afternoon'
'Afternoon Joel'
'Thanks for bringing her'
'She's my daughter, at least I'm fertile, unlike some women'
Joel knew she was referring to Mich and was surprised that Mich let her. He went to the kitchen, brought a fork and began eating from Mich's plate. After a while, Mich stood up to go upstairs. Joel began fussing over her.
'Love, you ate almost nothing, you know you need to eat don't you?'
'I ate'
'No you didn't, here let me feed you'
True to his words he began feeding her. Mich was filled up but stayed behind to annoy Paula, and she succeeded.
'Daddy, feed me too'
'Sure Angel', he said and began feeding her too.
'What about mummy?'
'Your mummy isn't hungry'
Mich finally stood up, she felt dizzy and almost fell. Joel went on his feet and helped steady her.
'Love, you know your condition, should I take you up?'
'Joel what's wrong with her?'
'She is carrying my babies. Leila, you will have brothers soon'
Leila turned to her mum to see if it was all right to be happy or not and seeing her mother's face, knew that was not. Joel picked Mich upstairs. After a while he sat her down.
'Love, I have a confession to make'
'I'm listening'
So Joel Jason told Mich everything. About his parents and how they died. He told her that she was in danger and that he married her for his own selfish gain.
'Why are you telling me these now?'
'I came to fall hopelessly in love with you and I know leaving you in the dark won't be good at all. That was why I took you home to your mum, I'm sorry love'
'After your parents dead, you went back to school, where did you leave Maureen?'
'I took her to our mother's younger brother and then brought her back when I'm settled'
' I'm sorry Joel, you lost your parents'
'I feel sad that I failed in bringing up Maureen'
'You tried your best'
'She is spoilt and selfish'
'So now, what do we do?'
'Go back home to your parents for the main time. You will be safer with them'
'No'
'Why?'
'I want to be with you'
'You've got to convince your parents to let you live with them'
'Will you visit me often?'
'Yes, love'
'I'm curious about Paula'
'Forget her, whatever we had was in the past. Leila is the only thing bringing her here'
'Okay, I can see that she hates me'
'Mich, promise me you won't leave the protective walls of your parents alone except you're with me or Jordan'
'What about my ante natal?'
'I will always pick you up and if I can't make it, beg Jordan'
'Okay'
'Promise me love'
'I promise Joel, but we need not tell my family, father and Jordan will have your head should they know that I'm in danger'
'Okay love, it will be our little secret'
She slept, woke up in the evening and saw Joel studying. She left the bed and walked towards him. He saw her and draw her to sit on his thighs.
'You are awake'
'Yes, what is the time?'
'Past six'
'Ah, its evening already, I'm really lazy'
'You are pregnant'
'I don't want twins'
'Why?'
'I don't think I can handle them'
'I will help you, I'm their father'
He kissed her lips and she sighed in pleasure. Joel made love to her on the chair and afterwards, they bathed, went downstairs and ate. They were about retiring when a knock sounded on the door.
Joel frowned as it was a bit late for callers. He left his seat and went to the door whistling.

'Twins?'

'Thank you but she hasn't eaten or drank anything in twenty four hours'
'Joel, she's your wife and its quite obvious that she is hungry but she wouldn't eat even after you spoke with her'
'That woman is stubborn but Jonas?'

Jonas, being Joel's junior in the practice. Muttered his okay. He stood up and left while Joel went in to see his patients. A few hours later, he went to check on her. She was lying on her back.
'Please eat something', he said as he sat at the edge of the bed. Mich shunned him completely.
'Please love'
'No, I want to kill this baby of starvation'
'Not baby love, babies'
'Twins?'
'Yes, we are having twins'
'Good, they will both die'

Dr Jonas came into the room, he saw his patient angry look towards her husband and knew the two are having serious problem.
'Mrs Jason, you will be discharged as soon as this drip is finished'
'No doctor, I don't want to be discharge'
'But why? Many patients can't wait to leave this place'
Mich only glared at Joel.
'Joel can I talk to you outside?', Jonas asked
' Sure'
Outside the room Jonas chose his words carefully for he knew it was a delicate matter
'I know this is a private matter but I think your wife is angry with you. I will advice you to give her whatever she wants'
Joel couldn't deny it so he murmured his thanks and went inside
'What do you want Mich'
'For you to apologize to me in front of mother and Jordan, then take me back home. That's the only way there can ever be peace between us'
'Mich, its showing that you are hungry'
'Yes, I am hungry but I won't eat'
'Okay Mich, I will apologize to you the same way I humiliated you but I too have my conditions'

He expected her to say no but her reply proved to him that he was in for a surprise.

Mich lavished the food brought in by the nurse. God, she was very hungry. After eating she began thinking of her husband and her marriage, then the twins she hated for emerging in her stomach and causing chaos in her life. Her phone rang and she picked it.
'Hello?',she said three times with no answer. She was about cutting the phone when a deep voice said
'Sweetheart'
That was definitely not her husband Joel.
'Who is this?'
'Oh God sweet, you are breaking my heart'
'I don't think I know you mr, this is a wrong number'
'Sure you know me Mich, and you love me'
'Who are you?'
'Shadrach'
'Sorry I can't remember'
'We are lovers Mich'
'We can't be, I am married already'
'Yes, I heard you lost your memory but you see I couldn't reach you earlia cause I too had an accident and was receiving treatment in Canada'
'We need to talk. Where are you?'
'I'm at the hospital'
'The one your husband work?'
'Yea'
'Can you tell me your room number and the floor?'
The door swung open and Joel came in. He had finished his shift and was looking tired, Mich felt pity for him.
'Hello? Mich your room number?'
She heard the voice say.
Joel walked the short distance, snatched the phone from her.
'This is Doctor Joel, who is this?'
The line went dead.
'What are you doing Joel?'
'Who was that?'
'He said we are friends and want to visit me here. Lest I forget, don't ever repeat what you just did Joel'
'Mich you are in danger can't you see'
'No I'm not, now take me home I want a hot bath'
Joel said nothing more. An hour later, she was discharged and he drove her home.
'Mich, I'm sorry I snatched the phone from you but please I need you to do me a favour'
'What is it'
'I will help you park a few of your things and then you will go on a vacation to your parent's'
'I need no vacation'
He drove home. Helped her out of her gown and made his way to the kitchen. Maureen boiled yam and made egg sauce. After eating, he took some upstairs to her. She ate and slept. Joel couldn't sleep. He called Jordan and told him that Mich will spent the night with him as she was ill.
'That's your problem Joel, not mine but for your sake, don't bring her back here.
She woke up with morning sickness and Thankfully, it was Joel's day off. He took care of her and gave her some relieve pills. Later in the day, when she seem better Joel sat her down.
'Mich I need to tell you something'
'What is it?'
'Please don't hate me after you hear what I have to tell you'
'No Joel, it isn't good is it?', she fearfully asked him
'To be candid love, it isn't good at all'
She was scared because she had seen it in his eyes. He too looked scared and she dreaded what he had to tell her. Maybe he wanted a divorce, maybe she had a deadly illness or maybe she will die, whatever it is, She wanted this one last moment with him. Standing up, she slowly removed her nightie and stood naked before him.
'What are you doing Mich?'
'Make love to me'
'But I have something to tell you first'
'Please Joel, don't spoil this moment', she said in a shaky voice.
'Mich, you have to listen to me, you have...'
'I have HIV?'
'No'
'Please Joel, I'm begging you'
'I can't Mich, not with the way things are'
His words further humiliated her, maybe he desired her no more. Even her nudity didn't affect him at all. She scrambled to put on a shirt. All she wanted was for the floor to swallow her up for making a complete fool of herself. She found a green gown and done it over her body.
'Mich please...'
'Take me back to my parents home'
'No'
'I will find my way there'
'Mich, you wore the dress inside out. Come, let me help you'
'No, I'm okay'
'You are not, you are crying'
She touched her cheeks with her right palm and felt her tears. She didn't know she was crying. She opened the door and began running down the stairs.
'Damn it Mich, come back right here', he said while running after her and caught her at the living room. She didn't fight him as he led her back to the room.
'I'm sorry love, I made you cry'
He kissed her lips, then her neck and her chin. 'Mich, I'm going crazy over you, never you think I don't desire you'
She began crying in ernest. He kissed away her tears and shuddered as pure lust took over him.
'Mich, I want you and can't help myself'
She saw it in his eyes, his body began shaking as he tried taking off her clothes.
'Mich, I can't imagine life without you'
He said and began taking off his clothes.
'Please Joel, don't leave me', she whispered
'I won't Mich'

Good morning to you all, thank you all for your well wishes and prayers there past few days. I guess I should say that the exercise wsa a success.

very lovely story...tanks for taking note on d violence done by d men to the women in d novel...its wrong and I condemn it in its entirety ...If thus novel is to stand d test of time..,I suggest u rewrite d scenes where Joel hits his sister,where any man hits a lady,and even wen a lady said her husband will beat her n wen Mitch sed her brother would beat her..,wat brother beats up his 28 years old sister? ...I was shocked wen I saw the instances mentioned above n some others cos no woman should live in fear of a man beating her up and people are influenced by what they see,read or hear...me...I love d word heartbeat..,it's soooo romantic...back to d matter...wen guys read such in ur novel...they might get d wrong impression that to hit their sister/wife is acceptable, and d ladies myt think that that their brother/husband beating them is okay.Tanks for this wonderful novel...God bless you biiiiiiiiiiiiig....And to those reposting this novel on other sites without Tiffany's permission#DiaisGodo#
