I may not be able to update till sunday or monday but everything depends on my schedule. I am an inec ADHOC staff and I have been posted to a village, we are to leave today and I heard that no network there

'Morning Joel. I'm glad Jordan called you because I'm tired of all these'
'What's her problem?'
'She doesn't want to eat nor drink anything'
'Mich?', Joel called.
Mich didn't show any sign that she heard him. Her mother took her leave. Let the husband solve his wife's problem. When the door shut behind his mother- in-law, Joel frowned his face and went to the bed.
'I thought we agreed that you are here to learn your lessons?'
When Mich didn't turn to look at him or answer his questions, Joel moved to her drawers and removed a long yellow gown for her. Dropping the gown on a nearby stool, he went back to the bed. He touched her arms and she slapped his hands away. Joel had no time for this drama, he had to report at the hospital in a few hours.
'Mich, look at me'
She didn't. Joel walked to the bathroom, filled water in the tube, added bath gel, removed his shirt and hanged. His trousers were next and his shoes. He knew he won't have time to go back home and change before his shift. He wrapped a towel around himself, went to the door and turned the keys, moving to the bed, joel forcefully draw her to him. Her swollen eyes astonished him but he pretended not to see them. She tried fighting him off but she couldn't, after all, she was ill, tired and hungry while he was strong and powerful. Mich hated herself for not telling him about the pregnancy but she hated him more for disgracing her in front of her mother and brother. He pulled off her shirt and carried her to the bathroom. After bathing her, he deposited her on the bed. Mich glared at him, he saw the defiance and hate in her eyes but told her nothing. He looked for under wears and helped her into them and then the yellow gown. He wore his clothes and stared back at her. He moved towards her and sat next to her on the bed.
'Mich, I'm so sorry for what I did to you yesterday, I love you and don't want to loose you. Please forgive me'
Mich only looked intently at him. She had nothing to tell him.
'Please love, for the sake of your health, eat something'
'You Joel, I hate'
'I know'
'I'm not going to the hospital mr'
'Please'
'Go tell my mother I said I will kill the baby by starving it'
Joel couldn't help himself, she was his wife wasn't she? He leaned forward and placed his arms her neck and kissed her. Mich bit his tongue.
'What's that all about?'
'Don't ever touch me'
'I'm your husband'
'You reported me to my mother, I won't forgive you'
'I said I'm sorry'
'Really?'
'Yes'
'Then apologize to me in front of mother and Jordan'
'Mich, I...'
'Good, this isn't my home Joel, my father won't let me stay here. Take me home'
'This is home'
'No it isn't'
'Mich, I'm not begging you to go to the hospital. I am commanding you as your husband'
'Commanding officer Joel Jason'
'Please Mich'
'No'
Joel didn't wait to argue with her. He picked her up and swung her over his shoulders and opened the door to the room. He met her mother and Tara in the sitting room.
'Joel, had it come to this?', Alice asked
'Yes it has'
He saw a maid and told her to get him a pair of slippers for Mich. He opened the door to his car and deposited her in the passenger's seat. He shut the door, collected the slippers from the maid, went behind the wheel and drove away. As he drove to the hospital Mich thought of the best way to get her revenge. She looked out of the window and tried hard to think of how she met and married a man like Joel. As she thought, the damn headache came again. She shut her eyes in an effort to shut out the pain to no avail. Mich placed her hands on her forehead.
'Mich what's wrong?'
'My head'
'Are you having headache?'
'Oh God Joel, I want to die', she told him in tears. Joel increased his speed and was in the hospital in less than five minutes. He didn't wait for a stretcher, instead, he carried her to the emergency unit. He was met by two nurses whom he instructed to call doctor Jonas, his colleague.
'What's wrong with her Joel?'
'She's two months pregnant and I think she is suffering from tension headache'
'Have you given her any pain killers?'
'No, I want a total and complete check on her'
'Joel, I know you are good in this, but you know you can come with me to the ER. Wait outside, I will talk to you later'
Joel knew the rule, he slowly stepped out of the room. Doctor James, a neurologist met him.
' Good, James, I need you to check on my wife'
'Okay'

Joel sat across to doctor James a few hours later. The two stared at each other.
'Joel, your wife is forcing her memory back and its affecting her. She needs to calm down, relax and let the memory come on its own'
'I thought she is having tension headache, you know, the kind of headache that affects pregnant women'
'I'm not saying she is not having tension headache but she needs to stop forcing back her memories, it makes the headache much more worst'
'Okay, James, thank you'
Jonas entered Joel's office, James scrambled to his feet and left. Jonas took the chair his colleague left.
'Well. Your wife is so damn stubborn. She had defiantly refused to eat anything'
'What should I do with her?'
'You have to convince her to eat something'
'Okay'
'There is something else Joel'
'What is it?'

Joel hated what he did but he was happy he summoned the guts to return Mich to her mum. It was so surprising that Jordan didn't kick him out. Now everything is working according to plan. As he drove back home he frowned, yes, he would rather have Mich hate him than her dead.
No one need tell Joel that his uncles won't hesitate to kill Mich should they find out she was pregnant. They want no heir, and he know that he, Maureen and Leila were still alive because he hasn't married yet. When Jordan told him about Mich pregnancy, Joel angrily stormed out not because Mich didn't tell him but because he was scared. His uncles didn't hesitate to kill his parents, they won't hesitate to kill his wife, especially now that she was carrying a heir they know would threaten them and their very existence. Joel remembered that on hearing his parents died in a fatal auto accident, he was at his final year in the university and returned to find his uncles had shared everything, except the house. The thing was that, his father's death was so sudden he didn't make a will before passing away. The only thing Joel was able to get from them was the duplex. He had to involve his room mate, a law student who in turn spoke to one of their lawyer lecturer. Barr. Peter threatened the uncles and they forgot about the house. What Joel didn't know was why they still want him dead and now he had involved Mich in this.
Joel knew that her life was in danger and needed her under the very protection of her family, that was the only way to keep her safe. She would hate him but he loves her and would stand her hate. For now, he knew he had limited time to prove to the whole world who his uncles really were.
The realization that his parents were murdered hit him so real heard. It started a few years ago, Aunty Rachael paid him a visit and told him what she over heard her husband and his brothers saying. She had felt so bad and guilty and thought to tell her nephew that her own husband kill his parents and were planing on killing Maureen and Joel. She had further revealed to Joel that Uncle Benjamin is a wife beater. He beat her up at the slightest opportunity. When asked if she would reveal what she had told Joel, she said no. Although she hated her husband, she was too scared of him to testify in a court of law and Joel was left to find the prove. He had no savings, the money he made always go to the men he had secretly hired to investigate his four uncles. He had some things against each and everyone of them, but he still needed that one proof he seek-they murdered his parents.
Now, Mich whom he love so much is suffering. He wanted her with her parents at least until the baby is born and he was more than convinced that his uncles will meet their waterloos before then.
Maureen was another issue. The fact that she pushed a very pregnant Maureen down the stairs and refused to apologize proved his theory that she was dangerous to Mich. She could hurt her when ever he was unavailable. He needed to tame her fast before its too late
As he drove into the compound, he went straight to the housekeeper and relieved her of her duty.
'But why sir?'
'I have a wife and a sister. My wife and I have an understanding, she will take over from you, although for now, she had gone home to spend a few days with her family'
'Who will take care of you and your little girl?'
'Maureen will'
And so, he paid her for the month and the upcoming month and bid her goodbye.

'Mich wake up, you have to be in the hospital', her mum tapped her.
'I'm not going mum'
'Mich, don't further annoy your husband. Please take your bath, I will take you to the hospital'
Mich who had nearly died of embarrassment after what Joel did to her sat up. Seeing Mich, her mum's anger abated for her beloved daughter looked so miserable.
'You didn't sleep, did you?'
The tears came running down her cheeks. How could she sleep after what Joel had done to her? Her eyes were swollen and her head hurts
'Mich? You've got to help yourself. We both know that your father won't have you here. You need to go back home before he returns'
'I don't care'
'You do Mich. I'm your mother, can you please explain to me why you don't want to perform your marital duties?'
Again, Mich felt like shouting. She didn't even know what to tell her mother.
'Mother, my head hurts'
'That's because you spent the night crying over spilled milk. But you are the genesis of your problem Mich. Getting married without telling us and going behind our back to sleep with him just when the divorce proceedings were almost over. The pregnancy sealed your fate Mich. Though your father doesn't approve of your marriage, your pregnancy has sealed your fate with Joel'
A knock sounded on the door and Jordan appeared. On realizing that her brother was the intruder, Mich quickly turned for she can't bear looking at him. Not after yesterday.
'Isn't she going to the hospital?'
'Jordan, your sister is putting herself and the baby in danger. She had refused to eat or drink anything since Joel brought her here'
'I'm late for all these mum, she needs to leave before father return. What's her problem anyway?'
Jordan picked his briefcase and left for work. He called Joel
'Hello?'
'Joel, my mum can't do your duty for you. Your wife had refused to eat, drink or go to the hospital. If you really want her at the hospital, come take her yourself'
'Okay then, I will come pick her'
Joel quickly ended the call. Things are not working out at all. On his way downstairs, he met Maureen at the bottom of the stair case. 'Joel, there is no food in the house'
'Why are you telling me? I'm I a cook?'
'That lazy housekeeper didn't show up for work and I have lectures in two hours'
What Maureen failed to see was that her brother was in a foul mood. He picked his car keys and head for the door. Maureen blocked his way.
'Maureen, out of my way'
'The housekeeper isn't here'
'I fired her yesterday, do yourself good and prepare lunch'
He removed some money and hand it over to her.
'No Joel'
'I will beat you up should you refuse to cook'
He pushed her and went out. Once in the Nicholas mansion, he took the stairs, two at a time to Mich's room. Alice looked up in surprise,
'Good morning ma. Jordan called me'

I really do needd to apologize to you all for not updating these past few days. I'm just too busy to make an update for you.I will surely make an update later.

'What is happening here?'
'Ma, ask your daughter to tell you the last time she performed any of her marital duty?'
Mich felt like the ground should open up and swallow her. She felt so embarrassed she felt like weeping. Even Jordan shifted in his chair.
'Mich?', her mum asked but Mich had nothing to say. She just sat there, staring at the floor.
Since Jordan returned this lady here, she had refused for me to touch her, she had refused to cook my meals nor make the bed we slept in, I had to wake up early, bath and dress my daughter to school with Mich in the house. Do you know that I had to hire a cook and housekeeper when I have a wife and a twenty one years old sister at home?'
'Mich, did I or did I not teach you how to cook?', her mother asked
'You did mum, I...'
'Shut up Mich and allow Joel to continue'
'Ma, I really tried with your daughter, but one more day with her I will beat her up. She shouldn't step her legs into my house until she learn all about being a wife'
'Joel, you are angry and you are taking things too far', Alice said
Joel shook his index fingers towards Mich, ' I'm not taking this far, and to be honest with you, she asked me to forgive her and I have, that's why I'm giving her this second chance.
Mich here is two months pregnant and I only found out yesterday. I once walked in on her throwing up her breakfast, I asked her if she were pregnant she denied it. I beg her to allow me carry out a test for her she refused. Okay, let's go to the hospital, she said no. I asked her the last time she saw her period she told me she just finished one the previous day. I kept quiet and she insisted its just fever and she had taken medication, I believed her.
A week later, Linda was at my place and fell off the stairs, together with Tara, we took her to the hospital, there, I took Mich to the lab for a test, she refused and yesterday, I realized that I'm the only one that didn't know she is pregnant. Even, Henry knew. Jordan here, had the guts to insult me in front of everyone. As if that's not enough, I found abortion pills among her things this morning. She didn't tell me she was pregnant because she plan to terminate it'
Joel paused, everywhere was hush. Jordan stared at his sister. His mum was too surprised to say a word.
'Mich, is Joel saying the truth?', her mum asked. Mich nodded.
'Joel, please, don't be angry, I'm sure the pregnancy is to blame for all these', Jordan said
'What pregnancy? You are married Jordan. Imagine Tara deliberately starving you of sex for months. I have a wife at home and if I can't touch her then out I will go. Now, if I should commit adultery, all of you here will say I'm bad. Have I not tried enough?'
'Joel, I have heard you and you did good coming to me. Yes Joel, you've really tried but please take Mich back home, I will pay her a visit later in the evening', Alice put in.
'Which home? Ma, Mich will stay here for as long as it takes her to learn. For now, I don't want her in my house. Teach her and teach her well'
'Joel, her father won't let her to live here'
'I'm sorry ma, I've made my decision'
'You can't send her away, she is pregnant. You are a doctor and you know that she needs her husband now more than ever'
'She will cope'

'Joel, I'm a mother, please, take her back home, I will talk to her. She will listen'

He stood up, without even looking at his wife, 'Ma, off I go, I don't want to be late for work, I'm in the afternoon shift. Mich love, I expect to see you at the hospital for check up tomorrow. Don't worry, you will be quickly attended to and all the bills should be forwarded to me'
'Joel you can't be serious', Jordan exclaimed
'I'm damn serious Jordan, and let me advice you, stay out of my business unless you want to marry your sister'
Jordan and his mum just sat there. Joel thanked his mother-in-law and to Mich he said,
'You better listen to your mother and learn. The door to our house is wide open to you but never you step your legs inside unless you are truly prepared'
He told them goodbye and left. The tears Mich had been holding gave way.
'You are yet to start Mich. I know I'm a good mother and I taught you well. I respect your father, I never allow any maid to cleanup my bedroom and I cook for your father whenever I can. I personally taught you how to cook. You have no excuse to disgrace me and make me a laughing stock. Your carryover lessons will begin this evening for I want you out of here as soon as possible. God help me for I don't know what to tell your father'
She stood up and then turn to Jordan.
'You played a role in this Jordan. Now listen to what I will tell you, stay away from Mich's marriage. Stop antagonizing Joel and stop deceiving her'
'Mother I...'
'I have spoken Jordan'
She said and left. No mother would want for her daughter to be returned to her for lessons. Its a shame and Alice Nicholas didn't know what to tell her husband and her friends.

Jordan and Tara brought Mich home. They helped her out of the car and into the house. Maureen only greeted them and went her way. While climbing the staircase, she felt dizzy and almost fell down but for the timely intervention of her brother. He picked her up and with her direction, to her husband's room. He laid her in bed and went back downstairs while Tara helped her out of the green dress.
'Mich, Joel is really angry, when he comes back, just apologized to him, after all, you are at fault here. Left to me, you don't value nor respect him, and that's bad'
Mich nodded. When he comes, she would apologize to him and make peace.
'Good', Tara told her. She help her into a nightie and told her good night. She went downstairs to Jordan.
'How is she?'
'I think she needs to go to the hospital'
'That's what I'm saying, Joel...'
'Jordan, leave them be, you've intruded in their affairs enough'
He led Tara out and to their car. Joel returned much more later. He went driving to ease his anger but to no avail. He opened the door to their room and found his wife sleeping. He had a shower and joined her in bed.
He opened his eyes the next day and found her staring at him.
'Joel good morning'
'Morning Mich'
'I'm sorry Joel, I've been a bad wife to you lately, will you forgive me and give me another chance?'
'Okay Mich, since you apologized, I have forgiven you. Now go and take a bath and have your breakfast, I'm taking you somewhere'
She began sobbing, he pulled her to him and comforted her,
'Thanks for forgiving me Joel'
'You are welcome, love'
He helped her out of her dress, and into the bathroom. He saw that she was weak, so he bath her and took her back to the room.
'Where are you taking me to Joel?'
'Its a surprise'
She smiled. She really was lucky he forgave her so easily. He went to pick a clothe for her in the drawer, there, he chanced upon her abortion pills, again, Joel laughed. Mich didn't know who she was dealing with. He picked a pair of black leggings and a yellow chiffon top. When she was properly dressed, he kissed her lips.
'Joel, can we talk, like really talk?'
'Not now love, now you look weak and you have to eat'
'Okay'
'What do you want for breakfast?'
'I will throw it up?'
'No you won't love. I will give you a pill, it will prevent you from throwing up'
Finally she agreed to tea and bread. He went downstairs and returned with her breakfast. After feeding her, he helped her into a flat. True to his words, she didn't throw up and she began relaxing and to her surprise, she was getting back her strength. An hour later she surprisingly walked down the stairs to her husband's car. Who wouldn't say there are no advantages in getting married to a doctor? Maybe, he was taking her to the hospital, she thought.
When he changed lane and she found his car in front of her parent's mansion, she suspected not a thing.
'Joel?'
'This is the surprise love', he said as he drove into the compound.
He helped her out of the car and into the living room. Mich was excited, she laughed and ran up to Tara's room. She knocked and entered. The couple were still in bed and it was already 9am. Jordan opened his eyes.
'Mich, what are you doing here?'
'I came with Joel'
'Is he still angry?'
'No'
She left to give them privacy to get dressed. She nearly knocked on her parents door but stopped herself, slowly, she went back to the living room. Joel was watching sport news. Sitting next to him, she whispered in his ear, 'Thank you'
He smiled up at her. They heard someone descending the stairs. It was her mother.
'Mother, good morning'
'Wow, Mich, I thought you've forgotten about me'
'Good morning ma', Joel stood up and greeted his mother-in-law.
'Morning Joel, please call me mother. You are now family'
Jordan came in, he was in a jeans and white shirt. After the normal greetings, Jordan looked slyly at Joel.
'To what do we owe this visit?', Alice Nicholas asked
'Actually ma, I'm here to see you'
'Okay then, you are seeing me'
'I mean in private'
Mich frowned. Whatever it was, she knew it wasn't good.
'Say whatever it is you've got to say Joel', Jordan announced.
'Okay then, Jordan suit yourself'
'What is it?', Alice asked
'Ma, I've known you for five years and I have come to respect you. But I have to say, you left something out while training Mich'
'You Joel, what are you insinuating?', Jordan barked.
'Jordan will you please allow him to talk?', his mum asked
' You Jordan, have no business being here but since you made my business yours, you will hear that which you wish to'
'Jordan, we need privacy', Alice said
'No ma, let him be. After all, Mich here is his sister and he isn't a child'
Jordan, refused to go, and Joel smiled
'Ma, I've returned your daughter to you. She has so so much learn and I assure you, she must learn'
'Learn what?'. Alice Nicholas asked. Mich said nothing, Joel had not forgiven her, he had tricked her.

After the wedding, the guests drove to the reception hall. There, the three couples met. Linda seemed okay while Jordan kept staring at his ill looking sister. The three couples were directed to sit together. The vice president came to their table.
'I'm glad you made it', he told them
'Thanks for inviting us', they chorused. He sat with them for a few minutes and finally left.
'Mich, you really look ill', Henry observed.
'Yea, she is suffering from fever, but doesn't want to visit a doctor', Joel said, with a smile on his face.
'Pregnancy had made Mich quiet', her brother laughed.
Joel laughed at Jordan's remark, ' don't worry Jordan, I will personally inform you when she takes in. For now we are we are not ready for that'
'What are you saying Joel? Isn't Mich pregnant?'
'No, she is not'
'Did she miscarry the pregnancy?', Jordan asked, surprised.
'What pregnancy? Mich? What is your brother saying?'
Mich felt cold, she graped a glass of wine from Henry's hand and gulped it down without thinking. Everyone stared at her she wanted to die of embarrassment.
'Did you miscarry the pregnancy?', Henry asked
'No'
'Mich, tell these people that you are not pregnant. You told me so yourself', Joel told her coldly'
'Joel, I'm pregnant'
'What are you saying? Stop confusing me'
'So Mich, you haven't told him yet?', jordan asked her.
'How far gone are you?', Joel asked.
' No joel, you are an obstetrician, you mean you didn't notice that your own wife is pregnant? What kind of husband are you? So she hasn't even been to the hospital for checkup?', Jordan was getting angry.
'Jordan, please not here', Tara told him

Joel looked angrily at Maureen. She defiantly stared at him with no remorse. He picked Linda in his arms, she was very heavy but he managed to take her to his car.
'Mich, open the car', he yelled at her.
Mich hastily did as she was told and helped Joel deposit Linda at the back. He ran inside and picked his wallet while Tara picked their handbags. Mich joined her husband at the front while Tara went to Linda's car.
'Linda, hold on, we will be in the hospital soon', joel told her. Linda nodded in. understanding.
They drove quietly with Mich holding Linda's hand. Tara followed in Linda's car. At the hospital, Linda was rushed to the Emergency unit. Since she wasn't Joel's patient and he wasn't on duty, another doctor, Lawrence attended to her while the three waited outside. Tara had earlia called Henry. While waiting, they sighted Henry running down the hallway, sweating.
'What happened?'
'She fell down the stairs Henry', Tara quickly answered.
'Oh my God, is she going to be alright?'
'I hope so Henry, the fall was mild and I don't think its that serious', Joel answered.
' What really happened?', Henry asked again. He saw the uncomfortable silent among the three. Mich stared at Tara and Tara stared back.
'Okay Henry, Linda bumped into Joel's sister at the staircase', Tara lied. She didn't want Henry charging at Joel with his anger.
'No Tara, don't lie' Joel said in a sad tune, turning to Henry he said 'My sister pushed your wife down the stairs'
'Why will she do that? Didn't she noticed that Linda is heavy?'
'They had a disagreement Henry', Tara put in
'And where was Joel when his sister was pushing my wife?'
' He was upstairs'
Henry turned to Joel, he was angry but the door opened and Dr. Lawrence appeared, halting their communication.
'Are you the husband to the woman?', Lawrence asked Henry
'Yes, I am'
'Come with me to the office'
Henry followed the doctor. Joel and Tara stared at each other. She had lied to her brother for him.
'Joel, your sister is wicked. Do you think Mich here is safe in that house?'
'Yes, she is. Can you tell me what actually happened?'
Tara slowly narrated the events that led to Maureen pushing Linda. Mich said nothing at all, she was ill. Joel, pulled her to him and she willingly went. Her temperature was high, he took her to the lab, with Tara following. After the normal greetings, he told a good friend of his to perform pregnancy test for her. Mich overheard and flared up.
'I know my body more than you and I said that I am not pregnant'
'Mich, I'm not arguing with you, please you are ill'
'Joel, I said I saw my period. Its just malaria and I am on medication'
To Tara's astonishment, Joel led Mich out and they bumped into Henry at the hallway.
'What did the doctor said?', Tara asked
'He said the fall was mild and she is going to be alright, although he placed her on bed rest and said he will keep her here till tomorrow'
'I'm so sorry Henry, I will settle the bill', Joel told him.
'Don't bother Joel, it isn't your fault and don't argue with me, I am fully capable of settling my own bill'
At home, Joel went to see Maureen, she wasn't at home, when she finally returned, she refused to apologize. Joel let her be. What else will he do to her?
Something happened the following week, something so scandalous Mich regretted never telling her husband about her pregnancy and her life changed

The next day, which was saturday, Tara and Linda paid Mich a visit. Joel went downstairs to welcome them.
'Wow, Mrs Joseph you are heavy', he told Linda.
'Please call me Linda, forget the formalities'
'Okay Linda, welcome', turning to Tara, he hugged her. To think that he thought he was in love with Tara! No, he wasn't, Mich had proven him wrong. What he had for Tara was merely a crush. He was right when he told Maureen he was in love with Mich.
'Joel, where is Mich?', Tara asked her brother-in-law.
'She will be down shortly, although she is ill Mich doesn't want to go to the hospital'
'You're a doctor, you can treat her at home', Linda said without thinking.
Mich came down looking miserable, she hugged Tara and whispered in her ear,
'Please don't mention the pregnancy to him'
She disappeared to Linda without giving Tara time to say anything. Joel went to the dining room, where the fridge was located and served the guests Five Alive drinks. He knew better than to serve the pregnant women alcohol.
'Mich have you received the wedding invitation to the vice president's daughter's wedding?', Linda asked
' I'm not going. I don't even know the man'
'Joel, you must bring her to that wedding, we promised Mr Hillary we will attend the wedding'
' How did you women know that man?', Joel asked
Tara and Linda stared at each other. Each thinking of the events that led them into meeting the vice president.

' Terry appeared, he forcefully kissed Linda, I went to disengage them, after all Linda is my beloved brother's wife. Terry pushed me, too hard I went flying to the ground and I sprained my arms, Mich, you hit him with a log of wood, He slapped you. Some men took him away. We were all crying as I was taken to the hospital. Jordan and Henry promised to sue him, but then, they never did'
'Why?', Joel asked.
'We each received a letter from the Vice president the next day, he was inviting us to a dinner. We went and realized the man was nothing like his son. He apologized to us on behalf of his son. We became friends and he told us that one of his daughter was getting married. We promised to attend and I wonder why the invitation came late', Linda concluded.
Joel looked towards his wife, she was smiling. 'Do you want to attend the wedding?'
'Yes Joel'
'Then I will take you'
'Joel, we ladies need time alone to talk'
' I will be upstairs', he kissed Mich on the lips before leaving.
'Now Mich, may I know why your husband is yet to know that you are seven weeks pregnant?', Tara asked
'Cause I'm terminating it'
'Jezz, you can't be serious', Linda yelled.
'Keep your voice down, are you guys with me or against me?'
Linda and Tara stared at each other in horror. Mich was unpredictable.
'Sorry Mich, Tara and I won't be a part of such evil. Henry will beat me up when he finds out', Linda said

'Mich, Joel is a good man, think about the implications of what you're doing'

'I've told Match here already to pack her things and leave this house, and you Tara, don't ever come here, Look at that pregnant woman, don't ever talk to me like that'
All women stared at Maureen. Linda refused to be talked to so disrespectedfully by a girl. She walked to angrily to Maureen.

The following week went by with little or no event, it was obvious to Leila and Maureen that the couple were not on speaking term. Mich ate like a pig. She was always hungry and didn't care to hide it. Joel return from work that morning and found her in bed. He hated the new Mich he was seeing.

Joel ran blindly to Maureen's room. He didn't knock, he just entered and he found her watching an indecent movie. She didn't even see him enter. He walked into the room and stared from his little sister to the rubbish she was watching. When had this sweet innocent girl became so horrible?

She looked up, saw him, and wished for the ground to open up and swallow her. She quickly picked the remote control and changed channel. The two siblings stared at each other. Joel was mad. Was Mich right?

Joel only stared at his sister, she was unrepentant. He knows her, she won't tell Mich the truth. She was bend on breaking his marriage and looking at her, he wondered if Mich was safe in the house with Maureen. He felt like beating her up but to what extend? It won't help matters at all and Mich won't like it.
' You're jealous of Mich, but God knows I tried my best. You are selfish, inconsiderate and a liar. I don't ever want you in my room. You are evil Maureen, you will one day get married, pray you don't fall into the wrong family'
He was tired, he just returned from night shift but he hated what was happening. He slowly walked to the room, it was empty, he walked to the bathroom and found his wife throwing up her breakfast. He went to her.
'Are you ill? Let's go to the hospital'
Mich shrugged his hands away, 'don't touch me, you make me sick'
He held her more firmly, Mich wanted to fight him but she didn't have the strength. She hated being pregnant and now she is suffering, She stood up and began sobbing. Joel embraced her while she sobbed. He helped her bath and laid her in bed. Mich wanted to protest but she felt so weak. Joel stared at Mich from head to toe. Maybe she was pregnant, she ate a lot and now she was vomiting, his doctor instinct told him she was pregnant.
'Mich, may I ask you a question?'
'What is it?'
'Are you pregnant?'
'No'
'Are you sure, some women get pregnant without knowing. Should I perform a pregnancy test for you?'
' I said I'm not pregnant'
'Okay then, come with me to the hospital, you are ill'
'I'm okay'
'When last did you see your period?'
'I just finished seeing one yesterday'
Joel said nothing more and he didn't know that Mich planned to terminate the pregnancy.

(1) according to larrysun it was only Tcm1 that knows what the meeting would be all about that day how come the other group knows about the red paper cos according to him he brought the paper and ask others to sign (2) how come the other group knows about the seventeen year old guy since all of them are dead including the three guys that did the killing or did the other group has someone mentoring the TCM that day? Their leader, stared at them, 'we have other problems'

' David Jacob, communicated with his sister before he died and I want to know what he told her. Secondly, a journalist by the name of John Alfred knows about us'.
The whole room went hushed as the effect of what the leader said registered in their minds.
The leader stared at TCMI2.' I want you to declare Irele wanted. Her name and picture should be on media. When you find her, kill her before you take her to the custody'
TCM12 noded in understanding.
'As for the lawyer girl, bring her alive to my men and then kill the journalist. Make no mistake, we are Nigerians and we decide what happens in this country. Any more questions?'

END OF CHAPTER FOUR

Yes, Tess refused to think of a brother whom she has not seen in ten years. She made a cup of coffee and switched on the Television. She was on a month's vacation and didn't even know how to spend it. She wandered around the house and the thought of her parents brought tears in her eyes. Her brother ran away from home when he was twenty, her parents were heart broken and wondered why. The search for him began. They died on their way to Kano, where a source said David was hiding. She was only twelve and her beloved brother didn't even come to bury his parents. Her uncles sent her away, Jennifer's parents (God bless their souls) had taken in their friends surviving child and trained her. She studied law at the university because that was her father's wish for her and she wasn't regretting it. Now Jenny was the only friend and family she has.
She wandered back to the living room and made to switch off the television but something stopped her. There, lying in a pool of blood was David. She moved closer as the newscaster was saying that unknown gunmen shot her brother the previous day. Although she had not set eyes on him in ten years, she identified him easily, after all, he was her brother and they were once close.
'How dare you David, you died without even apologizing to me, without telling me goodbye. Don't you know you are the only brother I have?'
She went on her knees and refuse to fight the tears. The betrayal, the pain and the loss of her family, she couldn't stand. She shouldn't cry, damn him for making her to cry but how could she stop crying when she still loved him?
' Why did I tell you to never call me David? Now you are gone and I don't want you gone', she said.
Then she remembered. The last time he called her. He was trying to tell her something but she wasn't interested.
'No, you listen to me David, I'm seek and tired of you. Stay away from me. Can't you see that you are hurting me?'
'Please Tess, I'm in danger'
'Die for all I care David, I've lost you a long time ago. Oh, never you call me again'
She cried harder as she recalled their last conversation. She knew she ought to call Jennifer, she would leave Samuel and come running to Tess but she didn't. Her body shook as she cried. Finally, when there was no more tears for her to shed, she travelled to dreamland, on the floor of her living room.
She opened her eyes the next day with her brother in her mind's eye. He sent her a letter two weeks ago and in her anger, had tossed it in her bedside drawer.
'What is he trying to tell me over the phone?'
Her curiosity led her to her bedroom. She weakly and slowly opened her drawer, picked the white envelop and unsealled it. Removing the letter, it baffled her that something else was in the envelop. She inserted her hands inside and removed a single silver key.
'What is the meaning of this' she asked as she began reading the letter.
DEAR TESS,
I am not even a worthy brother. Please, forgive me. I know I should have been there for you but they will kill us both. I had to protect you. When I was seventeen, I met a man, a very powerful man who gave me a task. A simple task for Five hundred thousand naira. I was young, foolish and needed money to show off. I realized what I'm up against too late and they were after me. I left in order to protect you, mum and dad.
A group I thought died and no longer exist are in existence and are hunting me. You see I know their secret and I have something they want. Take the original paper to Abuja and look for an investigating journalist named John Alfred. Make sure it gets to him. Pick the photocopy paper and leave Nigeria for good. Tess, wrote a long letter to Jenny, informing her that she was going to visit a facebook boyfriend in Rivers. She bathed, packed a suitcase and headed to the airport.

Tessy Jacob moaned in pain as she slowly open her eyes. She was being punished for taking more than her fair share of the bottle the previous evening. A foot landed on the tiled floor and the other followed as she blindly but slowly made it to the bathroom. The cold water soothed her troubled mind and her anger at the unfairness of life. She quickly washed herself and put on a pair of black jeans and red tank top.
'No, I won't think of last night'
She promised herself over and over again but she couldn't help it. Bottom line was, she went to the club last night, drank herself to stupor and almost got raped but for the timely intervention of Jennifer. Tessy couldn't even remember returning home or making it upstairs to her room. She picked her BlackBerry and dialled her friend's number. Jenny answered it at the third ring.
' Hello'
'Jenny, did I misbehave last night?'

i so much missed this babe,loved her writiings,sad she stopped posting but i still have hope,thats why once in a while i visit the literary section. I also missed prettyspiecy and some other female writers on nland...wish i could write almost perfectly like them.
