I was at JKK building yesterday to take TOEFL. I have to say the exam is getting more difficult. The passages were as abstruse, recondite and esoteric as a GRE reading comprehension passage. Nevertheless, it was a good dress rehearsal for the main course of GRE on 6 January. I realized that nothing compares to the real thing, I was really surprised by how much I found it difficult to grasp the passages (And I consider myself an excellent reader). That might be a problem for GRE but thankfully not for TOEFL, since you always know where to find answers. Another thing is that it helps a lot to be conversant with the format of the exam. I can't stress enough the importance of taking full length practice tests. |
There were actually two accident less than 100m apart. The first accident was partially responsible for the second accident coupled with over speeding by a driver of a lorry carrying feeds. The car I was in actually miss the 2nd accident by about 60 sec and all the cars involved in the accident overtook us about 5 minutes before the 2nd accident. I am still a bit shaken. I have some observations: 1. The number of accident on Nigerian roads would dramatically reduce if drivers reduce their speeds. It is madness for any driver to be doing 140km/h on any Nigerian road, by the way these accidents happened in the good portion of the road that has just been constructed. 2. The valiant effort of FRSC officials would had to carry victims with bare hand and use their pick up trucks as make shift ambulance, because of lack of emergency response. The effort of some civilians was also noteworthy. 3. The alacrity with which some people brought out their phone to capture the accident was reprehensible. Some individuals really need to visit the shrink and get treatment for attention seeking disorder. They are more interested in facebook views than anything else. 4. No one died in the 2nd accident that involved a truck, a trailer and about 7 cars. 2 of the cars and the trailer was a total write-off. And the trailer driver was in critical condition when he was taken away from the site. It was really a miracle the accident wasn't really fatal. 5. I am safely in Lagos, I would ply the road back to Ibadan tomorrow. I pray God continue to protect us and preserve us in goodness. |
Please can anyone give direction on how to get to test center JKk at Ilupeju, I would be coming from Ibadan. Thanks |
I would be writing TOEFL this coming friday. Please who has an idea of a not too expensive hotel close to the test center JKK HOUSE 229 IKORODU ROAD ILUPEJU LAGOS. I am coming from Ibadan and it would be foolhardy to leave on the test day. Any links to good toefl material would also be appreciated. I have not really given TOEFL much attention, although I will use the remaining days to prepare for it. Also, if you have any information on U.S schools that accept fall application in February or all year round, please let me know. I am writing GRE on Jan 6 and would like to submit applications towards fall 2017 admission if possible. |
Congratulations Scholastica16, A score of 324 is nothing to sneeze at. What I have realized during the course of my preparation is the importance of taking practise test under exam conditions. Toward the end of the 4 hours duration, the brain is so fatigued that the test becomes a test of endurance like you rightly pointed out. Also, the quant is not a test of ability to solve the questions, but rather how fast one can solve the questions. It is imperative one practise solving quant questions under timed condition and learn to skip any tough question since all questions carry equal marks. One can always come back to it if there is time left. I am glad I learnt this while taking practise tests and not in the exam hall as I would have been devastated. Once again congrats and you score is really good. |
Good morning everyone. How is the preparation for the test? I saw a useful post on quora about how GRE test scores are calculated and I just wanted to share it. https://www.quora.com/profile/Talha-Omer/Posts/How-many-Questions-Do-I-Need-to-get-Right-for-a-Good-GRE-Score In addition those interested in practice tests should check out kmf.com |
ridsan4real:Start browsing for school, It is as simple as typing '' PhD Animal science in US University '' into Google. You search result would contain links to Programme webpages where you would be able to find alot of information including on funding. Alternatively, look for journal publication authored by US researchers in your field of interest and check the Programme websites of the specific schools. From my searched most PhD in Science in US are fully funded and comes with stipends. Lastly, Your GPA is good enough, You meet the minimum GPA requirement of most institutions. |

In a campaign for Black Tower security, advertising agency TBWA/Vancouver demonstrated that some people will take whatever they can get their hands on. The agency lined a 10x20ft billboard with sought-after household items like framed paintings, rugs, pillows, and cookware on a Friday afternoon. By the end of the weekend, the board was bare, revealing the campaign's simple anti-theft message: 'People Steal. Black Tower Home Security
