PoliticsTinubu Was Frontline June 12 Hero, Abiola’s Son Replies Lamido by TimeManager(op): 7:16pm On Jun 26, 2025
The son of the late Chief MKO Abiola, Jamiu Abiola, has faulted former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido’s claim about President Bola Tinubu’s role in the June 12, 1993, presidential election crisis.

Lamido had recently alleged that Tinubu, a known member of the pro-democracy movement during the period, acted more as a “soldier of fortune” than a genuine advocate for the people’s mandate.

However, in a rebuttal, Jamiu Abiola described Tinubu as a frontline figure in the June 12 struggle who risked his life and committed personal resources to the cause.

He said contrary to claims that Tinubu played a marginal role, the former Lagos State governor was not only vocal but actively involved in resisting the annulment of the presidential election, which was widely believed to have been won by his father, Chief MKO Abiola.

Abiola said, “Tinubu was vocal and visible from the very beginning. As a senator in 1993, he publicly condemned the annulment on the Senate floor, calling it another coup d’état.”

According to him, Tinubu took a bold stance on August 19, 1993, when he spoke out against the annulment on the floor of the Senate, describing it as “another coup d’état,” at a time when many other politicians opted for silence or self-preservation.

“You would recall that most politicians were silent then, including those shouting today. Many were part of the establishment and chose to compromise, which is not a new thing to them. President Tinubu took the opposite route,” he added.

Highlighting further contributions, Abiola said Tinubu organised protests against the annulment and provided critical logistical support that facilitated his father’s return to Nigeria after an extended stay abroad.

Abiola stated, “Unlike others, he did not feel that my wealthy father should bear the financial burden of the resistance on his own. Guess what happened afterwards? The home of Senator Tinubu was bombed by regime loyalists.

“So, this was not someone sitting on the fence or playing both sides. He was putting himself on the frontlines from day one. Thus, he paid such a huge price and needed to escape to continue the struggle from abroad—which is exactly what he did.”

He recalled that Tinubu later fled into exile, where he continued the struggle, and recounted meeting him during that period in Maryland, United States.

Abiola also narrated a memorable encounter at Tinubu’s Maryland residence with the late Afenifere leader, Pa Abraham Adesanya.

“I was a witness because back then, I lived in the United States. One day I was in his house in Maryland, and lo and behold, a man came out of a room. I did not know who he was. He introduced himself as Pa Adesanya, and when I told him who I was, he went on to tell me about how he had been wrongly arrested for my mother’s killing and how Senator Bola Tinubu had been sponsoring the political struggle and looking out for people like him. It was an encounter I would never forget.

“I learned so much about the struggle that day and was convinced more than ever that my mother’s death would not bring it to an end,” he said.

Abiola added, “My father died for the June 12 mandate. My mother was assassinated fighting for its restoration. I know who stood with us when it mattered.

“President Tinubu was one of those who did—loudly, repeatedly, and at great personal cost. He didn’t wait for history to be written before joining the cause, as is the case with many people who served in a government in which my parents were ignored but chose to keep quiet.

“And he continues to honour the June 12 struggle, not just in word, but in how he leads.”

He noted that Tinubu recently conferred the Commander of the Federal Republic honour on his late mother, Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, in recognition of her sacrifice.

“That same day, he also honoured Pa Alfred Rewane, Anthony Enahoro, Chima Ubani, Beko Ransome-Kuti, and others who gave everything for Nigeria’s democracy. It meant a lot—not just to me, but to the nation.

“These are not the actions of someone disconnected from the democratic struggle. These are the actions of someone who remembers, who respects, and who leads with that history in his heart and mind,” he said.

On a personal note, Abiola recalled how Tinubu flew him to Maiduguri for his wedding in 1999.

“He arrived at the airport before me and even slept in his house in Alausa to arrive at the airport on time. These are actions done by the best of people, and this kind of person is the right person to lead Nigeria for the next six years,” he added.

PoliticsBenue: Governor Alia Finally Reconciles With Akume by TimeManager(op): 5:58pm On Jun 26, 2025
The alleged cold war between Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State and George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, seems to have faded.

DAILY POST reports that the governor fell out with Akume, his political godfather, a few months after the 2023 elections.

The rift was reportedly connected to a battle for control of the state structure, which led to a split within the All Progressives Congress, APC.

However, the reconciliation process began when President Bola Tinubu visited the state recently following the deadly attacks in Yelwata, where over 200 unsuspecting residents were massacred.

Akume, who was also in the state in response to the tragic incident, met with traditional rulers who called for peace across the state.

In a post on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, Alia confirmed his visit to the residence of the SGF in Maitama, Abuja.

His post reads, “Today, I paid a surprise visit to Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), at his Maitama residence in Abuja.

“It was a warm and insightful interaction marked by mutual respect, unity, and deep reflection on both state and national issues, as well as a shared commitment to the progress of our dear state and nation.”

PoliticsDSS Arrests Six Suspected Bandits In Kaduna Airport Upon Return From Hajj by TimeManager(op): 10:27am On Jun 26, 2025
A top source who spoke with SaharaReporters, disclosed that the suspects were apprehended at approximately 3:40am on Tuesday by DSS operatives stationed at the airport.

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have reportedly arrested six suspected bandits — three men and three women — at the Kaduna International Airport, shortly after their return from the Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

A top source who spoke with SaharaReporters, disclosed that the suspects were apprehended at approximately 3:40am on Tuesday by DSS operatives stationed at the airport.

The source revealed that the suspects had just disembarked from a flight returning Nigerian pilgrims from Hajj when security personnel moved in on them.

The identities of the suspects remain unclear as of the time of filing this report.

However, a top security source hinted that intelligence reports had linked the individuals to banditry activities in the Northern region of the country.

The source said, "Today, at 3:40 a.m, operatives of DSS arrested 6 suspected bandits, 3 men and 3 women, at the Kaduna Airport upon their return from Hajj."

On May 19, 2025, SaharaReporters reported that the Department of State Services (DSS) arrested an alleged kidnap kingpin, Sani Galadi, at the Sultan Abubakar International Airport in Sokoto as he attempted to board a flight to Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.

Galadi was apprehended at the Hajj terminal during a routine screening exercise ahead of his departure.

“He was arrested at the Hajj terminal while undergoing a final screening before their departure for the holy land today,” a source disclosed.

“He is currently under investigation and will be charged to court upon the completion of interrogation.”

A top official of the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Faruk Umar, also confirmed the arrest, clarifying that the suspect was not part of the Sokoto pilgrims.

“I also heard about the arrest, but I can comfortably tell you that the suspect is not a pilgrim from Sokoto but from Zamfara State,” he said.

“Sokoto pilgrims are not travelling today, it’s only those from Zamfara that will move today, the next flight for Sokoto is tomorrow, so definitely the arrested suspect is from Zamfara and not Sokoto.”

Umar had explained that the DSS screening was part of a broader agreement with state pilgrim agencies to ensure a secure environment for the Hajj operations.

Foreign AffairsRe: Photos From The Scene Of Deadly Iranian Missile Attack On Beer Sheva In Israel by TimeManager(m): 5:26pm On Jun 24, 2025
Righteousness2:
A tough morning.

It's hard to take such a blow. And at the last minute with The Firing af Civilians

And yet, we need to see the big picture, which is:

1. The Iranian nuclear project has been ELIMINATED

2. The Iranian missile project has been severely damaged

3. The Iranians have suffered many losses, many casualties, including HEADS of SECURITY services, nuclear scientists and soldiers, as well as severe damage to production, attack and defense capabilities

4. Our pilots in the skies returned safely

5. Israel has demonstrated the capabilities of a superpower, absolute control over airspace, and made it clear that it is several levels above its enemies

6. Iran's proxies are almost paralyzed

7. As I understand it, the estimates for civilian casualties in such an event were about 400 dead, we suffered (probably) 29. This is very difficult and every case is a disaster, but this is about 7% of the estimates

8. The dilemma and test now: what will be the Israeli response to the resumption of missile production in Iran

9. All that remains now is to subdue Hamas and return all the hostages!

10. Friends, there is more work to do! Keep your heads up!! Until the absolute victory!!!

The one fact you need to know is that Iran's nuclear program is a product of native intelligence a 100%. Thus, the knowledge is transferred from one generation of Persians to another. Try all you can to kill their famous scientists, hundreds more springs up. You can't murder a knowledge that which is local and inherent, no amount of missiles can. The nuclear program will continue IF talks collapsed.

Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin and his wife, Maria Lúcia Alckmin, touched down this morning at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, marking the commencement of the highly anticipated Second Session of the Nigeria-Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism (SDM).

The high-profile visit, which kicks off today, represents a watershed moment in Nigeria’s South-South diplomatic engagement and is expected to yield significant policy breakthroughs across multiple sectors.

The Brazilian delegation was received by the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole; Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha; Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari; and other senior Nigerian government officials.

“This dialogue mechanism represents our commitment to leveraging South-South partnerships that deliver tangible benefits to our citizens,” Sen. Hadejia said.

“Brazil’s expertise in agribusiness, energy transition, and industrial development aligns perfectly with Nigeria’s transformation priorities and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

PoliticsMulti-Million Dollar Food Company Set To Berth In Ogun by TimeManager(op): 4:40pm On Jun 24, 2025
A Qatari-based dairy industry, Baladna, is set to establish a multi-million dollar food factory in Ogun State.

Baladna is an agricultural company that raises livestock and produces dairy products. It is Qatar’s largest locally-owned food and dairy producer that supplies over 95 percent of the country’s fresh dairy products.

The Head of Products and Solutions Architecture at Baladna, Mr. Aidan Thomas Iynan, disclosed this when he and other members of the company, led by the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Aisha Rimi, paid a courtesy visit to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

He said the government of Qatar and the company invested heavily in an integrated dairy farm, which has become the biggest single dairy farm in the world.

He stated that Nigeria and Ogun State, like Algeria, would achieve remarkable results in dairy farming with the expertise, technology, and capital from the organization.

He noted that the collaboration with the Algerian government is expected to produce 1.7 billion liters of milk a year and meet 50 percent of milk supply for Algerians.

Mr. Iynan noted that with the current climate change, seven decades of drought in Syria, and flash floods in North America, the Mediterranean, and North Africa, it was imperative for Nigeria to work towards becoming self-sufficient in dairy production, as the situation is bound to put pressure on countries that depend on imports to address their food security.

“We can build farms that are highly efficient with world-class yields, and we can address not just dairy, meat, but also crop production,” he said.

He added the purpose of the visit was to explore possibilities in the country regarding land acquisition and also to hold talks with the government of Ogun State on collaboration in order to develop plans and feasibility studies to push the plan through.

Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of NIPC, Aisha Rimi, said that despite Nigeria’s enormous potential in terms of population and increased urbanization, there is still low production of milk, which is below global standards.

According to her, despite Nigeria having one of the largest cattle populations on the continent, it can only meet about 50 percent of its dairy needs, as it imports between $1.3 billion to $1.5 billion worth of dairy products annually.

The Executive Secretary emphasized that the government has introduced the National Dairy Policy, as well as the establishment of the Ministry of Livestock Development and the expansion of the National Livestock Transformation Plan, designed to improve local milk production and encourage the cultivation and processing of dairy products in the country.

In his response, Governor Abiodun observed that Nigeria’s demand for milk has jumped to 1.6 billion liters per year, with about 50-70 percent coming from imports.

“A lot of people have been running around pretending to set up dairy farms. They applied for import substitute permits, but what we have seen today is that all they do is bring in powdered milk because powdered milk has been very profitable, and that is very unfortunate.

“I think that you represent the kind of company that we would like to work with, and we are confident that you will work with Nigeria to achieve the Renewed Hope Initiative in agriculture
.

If within one month you were able to achieve 35 percent of milk supply in Qatar and within six months you became self-sufficient, I have no doubt that you can achieve that here in Nigeria. Your operations here will be like a walk in the park since we do not have deserts here,” the governor stated.

The governor highlighted the multiplying effects of having the company established in the state, noting that apart from job creation and individual prosperity, it would also lead to an increase in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the nation.

While calling on the company to consider establishing itself in the state, Prince Abiodun noted that the company’s vision aligned with that of the state, assuring of seamless cooperation devoid of official bottlenecks.

PoliticsRe: Leaked Memo Shows DSS Alerted DHQ To Benue Attacks A Month Before Incident by TimeManager(op): 10:01am On Jun 24, 2025
Heads are supposed to be rolling for this operational gaps.

Musa said the assailants attacked Yelewata after the troops moved to the other community.

“Because of the insider information, on the actual day that it (attack) happened, the troops were there,” the CDS said.

“There was a fake attack in the other village when the troops moved in; that is when they came to attack the other one. That is what happened.”
This excuses is unacceptable coming from the Chief of Defense, you shouldn't take any other information from any source above the ones given to you by the DSS, they had been at the nooks and crannies gathering information for weeks. Some of the local sources might be sympathetic to these attackers, and truly , at the end of the day, you were fooled by the so called " fake attack".

PoliticsLeaked Memo Shows DSS Alerted DHQ To Benue Attacks A Month Before Incident by TimeManager(op): 9:54am On Jun 24, 2025
The Department of State Services (DSS) wrote to Moses Gara, commander of operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), about planned attacks on communities in Benue and Nasarawa states in May, according to a leaked memo.

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) launched operation Whirl Wind Stroke in Benue in 2018. The operation comprises the military, police, and DSS.

On June 13, gunmen attacked Yelewata and Daudu communities in Guma LGA of Benue, killing over 200 people, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and farmers.

In a leaked memo dated May 13 seen by TheCable, the secret police said intelligence revealed that suspected “Fulani militias” were planning to attack settlements in Awe LGA, Nasarawa state, and other communities “anytime soon”.

In the memo, DSS said its checks revealed that the planned attack was to avenge an alleged seizure of some cows by the state government.

The communication identified the communities marked for attack as Mararaba, Jangargari, Wurgi, Gidan Antonny, Akon, Usende, Gaar, Vandikya, Chiata, Dooga, Gidan Baban Yara, Apelle, Pantaki, Kaambe and the Stadium area.

The memo also revealed that there were also plans to attack Tiv settlements and border communities between Nasarawa and Benue states by “suspected armed Fulani mercenaries”.

Yelewata, which later fell under an attack that claimed over 100 lives, was one of the communities identified in the memo.

“Reports indicate that they have been holding a series of meetings in Akpanaja, Rukuhi and Andori settlements in Doma LGA and have stationed their men at designated forests for a coordinated offensive against the Tiv communities,” the memo reads.

“The militias are currently hibernating at Amako and Igbabo forest located between Mkoma and Doka villages in Doma LGA and Ikom forest, located few kilometers away from Yelwata-Udei-Ukohol and Kadarko Railway in Keana LGA and are planning to attack Agatu, Gwer West/Gwer East/part of Makurdi LGA, as well as Guma and Loko Communities, all in Benue State.”

ARMY HELD HIGH LEVEL MEETING OVER BENUE ATTACKS — DAYS AFTER MEMO

In May, Moses Gara, commander of the OPWS, held a “high-level meeting” with leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Makurdi, Benue capital, over the constant attacks in the state.

Lawal Osabo, acting assistant director of army public relations, 401 special forces brigade/sector 1 OPWS, in a statement issued on May 28, said the engagement brought together critical stakeholders, including security agencies and local government authorities.

Osabo said the meeting addressed persistent security threats such as farmer-herder conflicts, retaliatory attacks, kidnappings, and cattle rustling in Benue state.

He added that the concerns raised during the engagement would be tabled before the state government and relevant security agencies.

Following the recent killings, Christopher Musa, chief of defence staff (CDS), said troops were in Yelewata on the day of the attack but were misled by false information that another community was under siege.

TheCable reached out to Edward Buba, director of defence media operations, for his comment on the memo, but he did not pick up his calls or respond to messages sent.

Onyinyechi Anele, director of army public relations, asked TheCabe to “speak to the commander” when she was contacted.

TheCable was unable to contact the DSS, as the agency has no known designated spokesperson and was yet to get in contact with Gara at the time of filing this report.
