PoliticsAfenifere Appoints Olu Falae As Chairman by TimeManager(op): 6:05pm On May 28, 2025
The Pan Yoruba Socio-Political Group, Afenifere, has appointed the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF and the Olu of ilu- Abo in Akure North council area of Ondo state, Oba Olu Falae, as the chairman of the National Executive Committee of the group.

Rising from its monthly meeting held at the country home of its national leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, in Akure, the Ondo state capital, the group also insisted on the restructuring of the country, expressed worries over insecurity, amongst other challenges facing the country.

Briefing newsmen after the meeting, the group’s National Publicity Secretary, Jare Ajayi, said that the appointment of Oba Falae was made by the group’s national leader, Pa Fasoranti.

Ajayi added that the appointment was to ” reposition the Pan Yoruba Social Political Organisation.

According to him ” Oba Falae’s appointment is meant to reinvigorate the organisation with a view to ensuring that the House of Oduduwa is back on track to project the Yoruba mandate.

“The new Chairman, Oba Falae, is a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), among other important offices he has held.
According to the communique, “The meeting considered various challenges confronting the nation currently.

“Since we have subjected these issues to rigorous interrogations severally, we have come to the conclusion that the most potent means of tackling the challenges is Restructuring.

“We are therefore calling on the Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly to set the machinery in motion to restructure the country as a matter of urgency.

“As we congratulate the present administration for clocking two years in office, we urge it to make Restructuring one of the major policies in its third year in office.

“Afenifere, at the meeting, heartily congratulated President Bola Tinubu as his administration clocks two years in office.

”It expressed the hope that the administration will use the remaining period of its tenure to more effectively address issues that are bothering Nigerians.

“While we take note of the reports by the the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, on inflation, we wish to emphasize that food inflation and transport costs are still very burdensome.

“We therefore implore the federal government to take urgent actions to ease the situation.

“Afenifere took note of the good intention of the Federal Government on the initiative for the National Forestry Guards, but the organization is of the opinion that the implementation should be by the States as part of the decentralization of security architecture.

“Afenifere thanked the President for releasing fund for the rehabilitation of Ibadan-Ife-Ilesa Expressway.

The meeting was attended by Members from the Yoruba States that made up Afenifere, including Kogi and Kwara States as well as Dr. Olusegun Mimiko and Chief Tokunbo Ajasin.

Speaking on his appointment, Oba Falae promised to unite all the factions in Afenifere.

Falae who thank Pa Fasoranti for appointing him said that ” by the grace of God and with the support of Afenifere and the Yoruba nation, we’ll succeed in bringing the other groups, everybody together.

He added that ” I intend to do all I can to bring all factions of Afenifere together in Papa’s lifetime.
Also, the National Organizing Secretary of the group, Apagun Kole Omololu, assured that the newly appointed chairman, Oba Falae, would reunite the group.

PoliticsTinubu Broke 54-year Jinx In S'East: Mark Okoye Briefs Tinubu On SEDC 100 Days by TimeManager(op): 8:37am On May 28, 2025
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed strong satisfaction with the progress of work of the South East Development Commission (SEDC) in the past 100 days, and charged the commission to “fast-track execution and deliver impact.”

President Tinubu expressed his satisfaction with the commission when the SEDC Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mark Okoye II, briefed him on the 100-day report of the SEDC.
“Earlier today, I had the honour of briefing His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on the 100-day report of the South East Development Commission (SEDC).

“Mr. President expressed strong satisfaction with our progress — from our bold vision to catalyze a $200B regional economy through collaboration with state governments and the private sector, to our #RenewedHope programs and strategy to align SEDC’s efforts with the aspirations of the South East,” Okoye said after he met with the President at the Presidential Villa Abuja.

Noting that for students of history, this moment was deeply significant, Okoye said “Since the end of the civil war in 1970, no Nigerian President — military or civilian — had granted the South East’s longstanding request for a development commission focused on reconstruction and rehabilitation. Mr. President broke that 54-year jinx. Thank you, Boss.”

He said: “Mr. President’s charge to me was clear: fast-track execution and deliver impact.”
The SEDC, covering Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo states, was officially established on July 24, 2024, when President Tinubu signed its bill into law, marking a historic milestone for the region.

It has as its mission, “to drive sustainable development, economic growth, and unity in the South East through strategic investments and empowerment initiatives.” The commission’s vision is to position the South East as the preferred investment destination in Africa by 2035.

Its board was inaugurated on February 12, 2025, signaling the beginning of operations aimed at addressing decades of post-war neglect and fostering regional growth.

The Akwa Ibom State governor is right. If the PDP Isn't careful, they might not be able to field candidates as if the wrong National Secretary signs your forms, you are as well as gone even if you have the highest votes. That is the risk he spoke about.

This matter needs to be solved and solved fast else even Governor Adeleke will have no choice but to either decamp to another party play a very dangerous gamble.
On a side note, In the meeting, Atiku was absent, Wike was absent, Gov Eno was absent, Tambuwal was absent.
On a serious note, if PDP do not come down from its high horse, they might not have any candidates in the next election. Imagine Sule Lamido saying he won't attend PDP meeting any longer unless Wike and Samuel Anyanwu are suspended.

PoliticsKaduna Government Unveils Road In Southern Kaduna, Breaks 20-Year Jinx by TimeManager(op): 6:47pm On May 27, 2025
The Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has unveiled the Kagarko township road, three months after it was flagged off, bringing joy to the people of the Local Government, after 20 years of failed promises.

The Governor who commissioned the road on Monday as part of the activities marking his second anniversary in office, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to bridge the infrastructure gap between urban and rural communities.

Speaking at the event, Governor Sani emphasised that the road project is part of a larger effort to fulfil one of his campaign promises, which is to accelerate rural development across the state.

“This is one of the most important local governments in the state, and we believe we must do everything possible to implement vital projects, particularly roads, hospitals, and other basic amenities that will transform the lives of the people of Kagarko,” he said.

The Governor disclosed that his administration embarked on 79 road projects across Kaduna State, totalling approximately 780 kilometres. Out of these, 25 have been completed, including the newly commissioned road in Kagarko.

“This road will not only connect markets and people to infrastructure like hospitals and schools, but will also enable our farmers to access their farms and help citizens move easily between their homes, farms, and healthcare facilities.”

Sani also revealed that over ₦400 million has been invested in an electrification project to restore power to the area, which had been in darkness for years.

“I am proud to announce that we have invested over ₦400 million to ensure lasting electrification that will reach every home,” he said, noting that the project would be completed within the next one or two months.

“Supporting small businesses is key to promoting economic prosperity. They create jobs, reduce poverty, and uplift families. This is crucial not just for economic growth, but also for addressing insecurity in our state,” he said.

The governor also praised traditional, religious, and youth leaders for their role in maintaining peace and stability in the area, noting that peace and unity are the bedrock of progress.
According to him, they couldn’t have achieved this level of progress without their cooperation.

“For me, peace and unity in our state are more important than anything else. Without peace and unity, infrastructural development like what we are witnessing today would not be possible.”

In his remarks, the Chairman of Kagarko local government, Muhydeen Abdullahi, said, “For over 20 years, successive administrations made several promises but failed to construct even a single kilometre of road in the history of Kagarko Local Government.”

According to him, the road serves as a vital lifeline for the people of Kagarko, facilitating smooth and efficient transportation as well as boosting the local economy.

The Chairman also commended Governor Uba Sani’s intervention to restore electric power to the local government which has been in total blackout for nearly three years, adding, “We are optimistic that in the coming days, Kagarko will be fully reconnected to the national grid.”

Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, fighters have hastily evacuated at least 15 dead bodies of their comrades after a failed midnight assault on New Marte in Borno State.
Zagazola Makama, a counter insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad region, made this known in a post on his X account on Tuesday.

Makama disclosed he was informed by impeccable sources that the insurgents, on about 20 motorcycles had launched a coordinated attack on troops in New Marte at about 1:35 a.m. on Tuesday.

According to the report, the insurgents arrived on motorcycles and with a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED), apparently aimed at breaching the battalion’s defences.

However, the terrorists were overwhelmed by the combined firepower of Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai, supported by the Nigerian Air Force Air Component.

“The VBIED, meant to cause maximum damage, was abandoned by the terrorists as they fled under sustained fire and aerial bombardment,” Makama added.

PoliticsOgun Governor Donates Facility For New Federal University Of Medical Sciences by TimeManager(op): 9:10pm On May 26, 2025
Governor Dapo Abiodun has donated the state model college at Onijaganjagan, near Abeokuta, for the takeoff of the new Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences (FUMMSA), Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The governor made the announcement at the official commissioning of capital projects at the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Abeokuta on Saturday.

Abiodun, who underscored the need for collaboration between states and the government at the center, said it was the second time such a donation would be made to the health sector.

He said: “On that note of collaboration, my brother and Hon. Minister of Education, former Minister of State for Health, Dr. Tunji Alausa, had called my attention to the takeoff issues the newly approved University of Medical Sciences, Abeokuta, is facing.

“He shared with me the fact that the funding provided for the takeoff of this prestigious university will probably only suffice for fencing the green location. He therefore requested that perhaps the state could donate a building, another existing facility to enable this new university to take off.

“We looked around and after consultation and deliberations, we have finally decided, in appreciation of what the federal government has done in giving us this university, I am proud today to announce the donation of the model college at Onijaganjagan to be used as a takeoff structure for this new University of Health Sciences, Abeokuta,” the governor noted.

Abiodun said his administration regards health care as the fundamental human right of citizens, hence the need to make medical care accessible to every citizen without hindrance.

The Ogun State Government, Abiodun emphasized, would continue to make significant efforts to invest in primary and secondary health infrastructure as a healthy population is fundamental for a productive and prosperous society.

The governor reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of his administration to support the Federal Medical Center Abeokuta and other medical institutions to deliver efficient and effective medical care, as collaboration and partnership among stakeholders are catalysts for inclusive and sustainable development.

He appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his reform-driven and visionary approach to the health sector, stating that the federal government has strengthened the primary health system and expanded health insurance coverage through the National Health Insurance Authority, as well as providing pharmaceutical and medical equipment to health centers, which helps in transforming healthcare delivery in the country.

While commending the management and staff of FMC for their foresight, professionalism, and unwavering dedication that brought the projects to fruition, Governor Abiodun said the projects would further strengthen the capacity of the hospital and reposition it to fulfill the vision of its founding fathers.

PoliticsOsun 2026: No To Alliance Says Aregbesola, As Cold War With Gov Adeleke Brews by TimeManager(op): 4:36pm On May 26, 2025
A former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has shut against any plan to seek coalition with his group ahead of the 2026 governorship election in the state.

Aregbesola disclosed this while speaking at a reception organised by the Omoluabi Progressives, a political group he founded to mark his 68th birthday celebrations held in Osogbo on Sunday.

The former Minister of Interior, who said by his next birthday, his group would be close to the Osun Governor’s Office in Abere, also noted that during birthday celebrations, it is always important to pray for one’s mother in appreciation of the pains of childbirth.

“By this time next year, we will all be close to Abere (Osun Governor’s Office). May God make it so.

“So, people are having untrue impression that we will align with anyone (in the governorship poll).
“We are not going to align with anyone. We are going to pursue our political interest separately.
“No alliance with anyone of group. By the grace of God, this group will win.

“We will contest and we will win. The election that will follow that of next year….”, Aregbesola said.

Expressing appreciation to the organisers for the honor done to him, the ex-governor on the significance of prayers for mothers during birthday celebrations also said,

“I am happy for this honor. I pray for you all, may you continue to succeed in all your endeavors.
“Whenever you are celebrating birthday, during the celebration, always remember to pray for your mother.

“The pains they endure during childbirth is enormous. So whether alive or late, birthday celebrations should be dedicated to prayers for mothers.”

Speaking earlier, the Secretary to Osun State Government during Aregbesola’s tenure as governor, Moshood Adeoti, told members of the Omoluabi Progressives to remain committed to the group’s ideals.

The representative of Osun State Governor, Biyi Odunlade, lauded Aregbesola’s contributions to the development of Osun describing his legacies as exemplary.

“I celebrate you because you left a good template for good governance in Osun State that can not be faulted by anybody.

“Your legacy of service is exemplary and remarkable, one that stands you out among your contemporaries,” Adeleke said.

The event was attended by many members of the Omoluabi Progressives, Aregbesola’s political associates from Lagos and ex appointees from Osun State.

A cold war

A cold war has been brewing between Adeleke and Aregbesola over their performances in office, unknown to many.

In the last few weeks, Adeleke and Aregbesola have taunted each other at public functions in what appeared a sign of frosty relationship.

At a Rotary District Conference in Ede, Osun State, Aregbesola, who was the guest speaker, spent quality time to reel out his achievements. He spoke of how he transformed Osun State.

But Adeleke, who came midway into Aregbesola’s lecture was ‘unsettled ‘ by what his predecessor said.

When it was his turn, Adeleke, who took style to say he was building on Aregbesola’s achievements, said the era of half salary was gone; he has not borrowed a dime; the Debt Management Office (DMO) has confirmed that the state has cleared 40% of inherited debt since he came into office.

He also said that he has completed a 14-kilometre dual carriageway in Ilesha and established University of Ilesha with 70 courses accredited.

“It is a matter of time before we end the alliance with Aregbesola, ” a PDP source added.
