I have misfire on cyl 4 (p0304) as the only code. Now when I clear it and drive, it will not show up and acceleration will be steady for as long as but once I park and get out, only to start the car much later to move, car will start jerking and check engine will appear and start blinking for a few seconds and acceleration will be steady if I drive for say 5 mins. On anothercold start however the cycle continues.. I have changed all plugs and mechs have cleaned the injectors.
since you have an obd code p0304= cylinder 4 misfire WHICH CAN COURSE BAD FUEL ECONOMY, injector, plugs, have been attended to , I advice a good pro check or change the plug coil wire at cylinder 4, why making SURE the ignition system is bringing enough current to the plug coil wire to ignite the fuel and air ratio in the cylinder, do a compression test, make sure you use themostat to help engine reach it operating temperature on time so fuel can burn completely to avoid flooding the cylinder WITH UNBURNT FUEL and end up losing your caterlyst and degrading Your engine oil , also make sure your PVC valve is working properly, because if the pressure water find it way inside the engine oil how will it get out? Pcv helps to Give access while expelling heat inside the engine , to expell the evaporated water , when the engine get to it operating temperature with the help of the themostat Temperature regulation.

The injector nozzle at cylinder 4 that have been serviced , may not be functioning properly ,it should be switched to confirm or replace if faulty

PLS Note: blinking of the check engine mean a very severe Condition

Please how do I tackle this problem especially with the last two codes that point to solenoid.
Will replacing the gear brain box solve the problem.
Also, where is the vehicle speed sensor A located. (P0500)

PLEASE KINDLY DISREGARD THIS UNRECOMMENDED ADVICE FOR TROUBLESHOOTING YOUR PROBLEM

THE GEAR DOES NOT HAVE IT'S OWN BRAIN BOX, RATHER IT HAS SENSOR'S, SOLENOID, VALVE, THAT REPORTS TO THE CAR ECU OR ECM (BRAIN BOX ) FOR PROPER TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE OPERATION FOR PROPER MOVEMENTS, THE MANUFACTURERS KNOW THIS ITEMS MAY GET BAD AND BE REPLACED, THAT WHY YOU HAVE THE CODE TO IDENTIFY THE PARTICULAR COURSE OF THE SLUGGISH ACCELERATION, AND WILL NEVER ADVICE YOU TO BUY A NEW TRANSMISSION , WHAT IF YOU BUY A NEW TRANSMISSION AND A TRANSMISSION OBD CODE COMES ON AGAIN , WILL YOU PREFER REPEATEDLY CHANGING TRANSMISSION'S ?

I disagree with the bolded. Leaving the car on neutral should not stress the gear in anyway, but rather idling with a drive gear (R or D) is what stresses the gear.
There is a misunderstanding that lead to that comment but we are all I the same track

I said one of the Factor's that lead to fuel consumption is= driving with out putting your car in neutral, which means if you don't put your car in Neutral at go slow the gear will be stressed and consum more fuel in Drive

Please explain what you meant here by the engine oil change interval due to the the ECU reading how many tines the tire has rotated. Is this for cars where you can set their oil life?
And secondly, can one fully trust the oil life monitor in cars?
every car has a specific engine oil change interval recommended by the car manufacturers , when the engine oil should be removed and replaced with a new one , and it determine buy how many times the tires rotate, which is calculated by the ECU or car computer (Nigerians call it brain box) with the help of the speed sensor rotating in the gear box reporting to ECU, the ECU displays it at the dashboard display panel where the speedometer displays, you can see plastic stick poking out of the speedometer,it used to reset the miles to zero when my miles get to 5000 miles which is my camry recommend engine oil change interval

Cars with oil life has a specific miles it covers before the warning displays but my camry does not display oil life rather it displays milage covered

And second I trust but don't fully trust my the recommended engine oil change interval, I use my common sense to determine sometimes, if my engine oil change interval is 5000 Miles or 6 month , what happens to the hours we spend in go slow and hold ups so I change at 4500 and 500 goes for idle time

Pls this is highly debatable. Yes, idling for long periods of time will take fuel, however, putting your car in Neutral will have NO effect on your fuel consumption whatsoever. Rather, it will cause stress on the transmission. Please research more on these.
Thanks.

you didn't debate anything rather you contributed , I was expecting debate about brakes to look at beautiful ladies lol it was said to add fun to the trend, so do you mean when the gears is under stress it cunsum the same fuel as when it's not under load, so what powers the gear box ? Water or fuel?
OP with with due respect you are not fully automotively inclined , and have not given tips to 70% of this beautiful trend problems including my own , so don't highly debate anything or I will be forced to hijack the trend

pls i have this noise called vvt rattle on my es 300. it only does on cold start. i have learnt it is a common problem of vvt engines and it is everywhere on youtube. I started noticing it as i clocked 265k miles on my car and she is still going fast. I plan to keep her till 500k miles. The mechs i have showed this problem asked about oil lights, i have none. Check engine light showed one o2 sensor is bad which i am replacing today. I used to have an oil shorting, breaking seals and smoking problems all of which were fixed after i replaced pvc valve and hose. the mechs say the noise is from the cam but i need to know what part of the cam and how many of them that needs to be replaced because i donot want any trial and error that will most certainly ruin this baby. i use fully synthetic 5w 30 which i change every 1500 miles for safety.
there's no safety in changing oil at 1500, it a total waste of money and resources, 4500 should be d ideal point.

For instance the fuel meter gauge doesn’t stay put to show the actual amount of the fuel in the car , it goes up n falls down like the hand of a clock , all the corresponding gauges does the same
There is a fuse controlling it if the fuse Is good that means that speedometer panel is failing, exactly what happened to me some years ago after buying a new one every thing normalize again, it can also trigger a speed sensor obd trouble code

Please can anyone recommend a very good Honda mechanic number in Enugu my EOD wants to kill me with high fuel consumption.
pls note Any mechanic working with out an obd scanner or ignorant is a qwak kazeem , so start by buying an obd scanner at jumia or konga for 5k and above

High fuel consumption can be coursed by many factors

1) no themostat leading to open loop fuel injector operation
2) connecting the fan to blow continuesly
3) low tire pressure
4) using thick engine oil viscosity, that stressed out the oil pump for more power to work
5) insufficient EGR valve flow
6) excessive load, remove all unnecessary items in your car
7) bad driving habit, excessive acceleration and brakes when looking at beautiful ladies lol and slowing down at bumber
cool excess idle and driving at go slow with out putting your car in neutral ,
9) failing o2 sensor etc.

Good evening house. My car vibrates a little and start blinking the check engine light. I stopped by for rewire and mechanic to have a check. I was told the line 3 on the cylinder is faulty .

I was told the issue is from my cylinder and not nozzle, plug nor coil. My mechanic worked on the cylinder, he showed me the line 3 side being oily.Replacing 2 valves on the line 3 and grinding the valves and cylinder. I changed the plugs to grade 1 tokunbo. After coupling, and starting the car for a long time. I realised if I'm on a spot on D it vibrates, returning to N, it will be normal. If I put ac on D while on a spot, the engine might want to go off but if I put on N, it normalizes.

Please, what could be the cause?
It's a camry 08 2AZ
Blinking of the check engine light mean a severe issue has surfaced , car should be scanned first and diagnose by a professional not a qwak kazeem

I rather buy a new china plug than a grade 1 tokumbo and remember every car has a recommended plug type, my camry recommend two filament plug but 90% Camry users use 1 filament plug in Nigeria ignorantly or because of the price

Scan the car with an obd scanner and report back
Car Talk / Re: Tell Us Your Car Fault Lets Assess And Fix Them by timenamoney: 11:01pm On Jan 18, 2023
The speed sensor is located wetin the gear box, it reports to the ECU or ECM how many times the tires has rotate to determine how many miles a car has covered, and also help to determine your engine oil change interval etc , if the rubber teeths are worn out or the ECU speedometer display panel at the dashboard is failing it trigger an obd code to warn you.

When I bought my camry it came with a 1 cell plastic radiator, after ignorantly listen to a qwak kazeem to buy a double cell and remove themostat then ,when I didn't know how a car works, which has been reversed by putting back the thermostat, but after resetting the fans to factory settings, I started observing gear oil shortage with out a dropping in my driveway, a kazeem advice I change a seal between engine and gear box , which I did but the shortage continued, but after resetting the fan at the gear box side to blow continuesly for safety sake, which I know is wrong the shortage stopped , which means the gear box oil shortage is course by overheating,

Pls note that the gear box oil cooling line are linked to the radiator

What your take? Should I re-buy the single cell radiator? What should make the gear box oil to over heat and course shortage? I need to reset the fan to factory for better fuel economy
Thanks

As long as a 12v power goes into that OBD 2 port, any compatible device you plug in will be powered. But for the Obd2 scan tool to communicate with the vehicle is a different story.
Can a 12 volt power get to the obd port without a fuse or with blown fuse at the ECU fuse location in the fuse box under the bonet?

After removing the ECU (good) fuse I still get power, is that proper ?

Where does the ECU get power from?

Is the obd port not connected to the ECU and is the ECU not connected to a fuse in the box under the bonet?

What should I do concerning ECU not communicating with scanner anymore?

I can't drive my lovely car with a check engine light on, especially now ECU can't talk, because Im in love with this car, and can never hurt her because of the love she has shown me for never letting me down anytime

what is the recommended mile per gallon (mpg) for your car?

Is your fan connected directly to the batry to run continuesly ? It affects fuel consumption and batry life

Is there thermostat in your engine? If No your car is operating in open loop( more fuel) most of the time

Is your check engine light on? If yes use an obd scanner to scan fault code to know if your EGR valve and others sensors e.g (o2 sensor) is working properly for better fuel economy etc

Check the recommended air psi ( air quantity) for your currently use tires type

Check your fuel tank for leaks and tight your fuel cap properly

Check your ECU (brain box) for failure, it should have reported a reason for the high fuel consumption

hmmm 3 to 4 days is too soon to get finished except you drive alot, get a professional to check out your cooling system for leaks, then use 50% coolant and 50% distilled water not tap water, the boiling point of tap water is 100deg, and distilled water up to 200 degree which is more than the operating temperature of a car especially when you use an engine thermostat to regulate engine temperature often, buy coolant from a reputable outlet like total to avoid buying water and color as coolant

I have questions that have bothered me for a while.....

1. What's a Belgium engine?

2. If I buy a Belgium engine of Honda Accord 2007 for instance, is the engine 14 years old? ( 2007 when it was produced to 2021)

3. were all the engines of All Honda Accord 2007 produced in 2007?

That takes me back to question Number 1,

What is a Belgium engine?

Should I treat a Belgium engine of Honda Accord 2007 as high milage engine since "it was produced 14years ago?"

Gurus in the house....

Kindly give your inputs.

Belgium mean used engine , even if it is one year old

the miles an engine has run or cover is what makes it high mileage not 14 years , there are 14 years cars that have not hit 70k miles

Find a reputable mechanic with a compression tester and know the recommended compression for your engine to determine

A 14 years 150k mileage well maintained engine is better than 3 year old unmaintained engine

if 5w30 is the recommended oil and has no issue with burning or leaking , why asking ? but 10w30 should be the better option in warm climate , because it has more base oil
Car Talk / Re: Please Help, My Car Is Drinking Fuel by timenamoney: 2:17am On Jan 22, 2021
drmuchin:

Fans are connected directly
I use synthetic 5w30
Tire pressure is adequate
Driving habit:gentle acceleration, minimal braking
u did not mention the temostate question ,

a car despite the climate should use a themostate , it helps the engine reach it operating temperature , before the engine reach it operating temperature 100degre ( the middle line in the temperature gauge at the dashboard , but some mistake it as overheating grin ) , the ECU (car computer or brainbox ) run the injectors in open loops fuel operation (more fuel ), when the ECU get signal from coolant temperature sensor that the engine have reached it optimal operating temperature 100degre (the fan blow to cool down things) , then will the o2 sensor in exust pip ( like a plug with wires ) before the carterlyst , helps to calculate already burnt air and fuel ratio in exust , to minimize fuel if much or minimize air if much , the injectors then switch to close loop fuel operation (less fuel) for better fuel economy

when you don't use a themostate and run your fan continually ( it affects fan and battery lifetime , may not last up to 5year grin ) , your car may not reach it recommended operating temperature 100 degree , and will run in open loops all the time , which effect fuel economy , will flood your celinders during combustion , affects your carterlyst converter , and contaminate engine oil badly and engine oil will not reach it operating temperature to evaporate moisture (water , celinders blow-by fuel contents e.t.c which lead to engine damage sooner grin

you may wish not to use a themostate but never bycort the fan to run continually , it should blow at 100degree , so that the car can reach it's optimal operating temperature on the long run , that how a car is produce to operate

Run car obd scan and report back

Check your miles per gallon ( MPG=4litre ) , when the low fuel light comes on, park while having 4litre already in trunk ,put fuel in tank reset trip a or b in odometer run till till low fuel come on again , to know your MPG , in multiple run rounds to get a proper result to compare when you put back temostate and set fans to factory settings

Cheers
