Could you please give us a time frame for all the processes stated. Like, say for a vehicle arriving Monday, April 22, 2019 when should valuation be done, when will the following processes be done and when will car be out?

This Cotonou car getting genuine customs duty is impossible!
What will be done is editing VIN on the duty of another car to that of Ops car. So, if one day the person with the original duty is stopped his VIN won't be found in the database, such once happened to someone here, it was an Avalon and car was impounded for about 2 weeks because the VIN of a car which had genuine duty had disappeared from customs database... Thanks to those getting genuine duty documents for Cotonou car I guess.

Then to the cost issue. If the car was imported into Cotonou from North America chances of single owner and no accident ever are slim; and there's a reason for the sale. It was a sale to an exporter, so someone exporting it to anywhere in the world could have bought it. Therefore a lesser or same mileage car with about the same level of damage since OP admitted having impact history could have gotten to his house in Lagos with genuine custom papers for the same or lesser cost.

Instrument cluster....hnmmmmm... speedometer and tachometer working based on different ECUs and programs.... another major hurdle to cross. Sir, how do you think we can get this working?

When compressor is changed, there's possibility of lesser efficiency when compared to the stock compressor.

As for instrument cluster, the wires will have to be painstakingly and individually joined. The reason I'm so skeptical about it is that a neighbour here recently converted a diesel engine, 6 speed manual tranny, 2007 Corolla Verso to the petrol 1ZZ engine, 5 speed tranny and nothing on his instrument cluster works... Asked him if the person who wants to do. It has done such before and he said yes, and now he's regretting, AC too doesn't work atm...

You can study the ECU to cluster wiring to see if it's same for donor vehicle and your Rio in order to know if it can be reconstructed.

1. The air-conditioning system of the Rio is not gonna remain when the engine is changed to that of another vehicle as the compressor won't fit except s d stand is construct, but I doubt there will be space for that, also thereshigh chance of pipes breaking during the surgery.

2. Get a tape rule to measure the engine bay space avaible for you to play around. You may have to do away with most of the packing and pads in the engine bay.

3. Measure distance between the wheels and choose a donor vehicle that has about the same dimension to avoid trouble in that area.

I use a Honda 2005 model.
For two months now my car started surging. I took it to my mechanic and he scanned it and changed something but the surging persist. I went back and he said it was the gearbox. I contacted another mechanic, that one worked on it but no change.i took it to a third mechanic. He said I should change the fuel pump. But still no improvement. Rather, in the process my kickstarter got bad and top gasket. Had to replace both. Met with a fourth mechanic now just last week. He changed the two gear censor N12k each and the fuel pump again, but the surging continues, the following day as I pick My car from him my alternator got bad. Truly I dont know what to do. A new mechanic just change the alternator. But I observed the D for drive on the dashboard is beeping, though surging still persist.

Pls what should I do? Do I change the gearbox? Almost all the mechanic said my gearbox is okay.

You should have scanned the car before this walk in the dark forest. Scan now before you continue this trial and error.

Hello all, so I was watching a live auction yesterday and I saw this car deal which appears cheap. Its the highlighted Corolla in the image below.

So, it was bought for $550 before charges and taxes, putting charges at $200, it sums up to $750, if trucking forklift and other expenses amount to $1500, so with about the $2300 as an approximate the car will be at Tincan port.

The above cost is just a guess and not a certainty.

Is that how you bought the car or the vibration started after a while?
If it has been vibrating since you got it, I will suggest a vin check to know the state it was before importation into the country.

my Yaba to Island commute daily is 21.5 Miles. 21.5 x 4 days = 86 Miles

Yaba to Ogba (College Road) = 14.2 Miles

Ogba to Magodo = 11 Miles

Yaba to Ladipo = 5.6 Miles

Magodo to Yaba = 14.2 Miles

Total (excluding the short waka around area) =140.4 Miles

Fuel at Quarter Tank. Consumed is 52.6 Litres





140.4 Miles to 52.6 Litres.





just occurred to me that the car reports exactly half of the Mileage.

140*1.6=224.64km
224.64km/52.6l = 4.27km/l

My fuel tank is 70 Litres.

I bought a full tank.

When the fuel gauge was at half, the odometer read about 70miles.

So I asked the question because it scared me.

The maths looked very bad.


But in reality, when I considered my driving distances it didnt add up hence the second post.


Engine is a 2.5 litre 5 plug. Volvo vehicle.



Let me give another example.

I bought a full tank on Friday
Drove home. Saturday morning, drove to Ladipo from Yaba.
Returned back to Yaba

Lots of traffic, full AC use.

Sunday went from Yaba to Ogba, to Magodo, back to Yaba through Bariga.

Monday through Thursday Yaba to Lagos via 3rd MB to and fro. My Yaba to Lagos commute is 10.75 miles both ways.

I'm now at quarter tank or slightly less.

Because i do not know the distance you covered in miles or kilometers, I am more confused than when we started

That's what the car mileage reports vis a vis my fuel


BUT REALITY IS:

I usually do 21 miles daily averagely (home to work is 10.75 miles) and use between 3,500 - 4,000 Naira fuel for Monday to Friday 3rd MB traffic and AC inclusive.


That's like 105 miles to 35 litres.


Note that I don't usually get to tank reserve by Friday evening and the car reserve is like 8 litres or more sef. So you can as well say it's 105 miles to 30 litres.



But the car dash reports what I posted earlier.

Which is why I asked....

Miles per gallon is equal to miles divided by gallon.

I have to disconnect battery terminal to off it.

If that light on the spoiler is the only one that stayed on, then you might need new bulbs as you should have 3 brake lamps...
As people before me said, check out the brake switch and also check all your bulbs are working.
