Nairaland / General / Sammie Okposu Is Dead by timojerry: 7:53pm On Nov 25, 2022
Just reading that Sammie Okposu is dead as he slumped. This has come as a shock tome and I can only wish that he rest in peace and God gives the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Death by slumping fears me honestly. The recent death of Omititi, the APC man who literally went for Tinubu's campaign and slumped there also shocked me. You see someone today and immediately they slump and die without notification. Their body clock just stops automatically. May God grant us good health and long life

How did this happen so fast?

I went through your profile, just last year here, you were making all kinds of enquiries about UK visa/school stuff

What went wrong?

I you were to do it all over again, will you still choose to relocate

LOL yiu sef ask? Obviously peers who have indoctrinated the child first, animal second, women third and man last mentality into her have swayed her. In response to yiur question, if I came alone yes it would have been OK. But all is good. As long as life dey, hope dey. Blessing's to you brother

What you described sounds like an abusive situation. It’s unhealthy for you and your children. And your wife. I am unable to locate your original post So I am unable to quote it.
Please find a social worker and have a discussion with them on the way forward. At the minimum, they will document it.
This will serve as a witness for you if anything were to happen. Because if you say she’s yelling at you all the time, things could escalate at any time. And even if she’s a woman, she has no right to do (be emotionally abusive to her husband) that even in the UK.

Thank you for the advice. I have been given this advice severally but she go change she go change dey make me overlook these things but things are as it is. Presently and in all truth, it could be over. I'm just here for the kids and hoping to get a sponsored job soonest. God willing

Lol there's nothing my wife has not told me becaue I am her dependent. I'll call police for you, ill report you, ill eveict you from the house. House wey I dey pay for o. So brother, this my message is not yo scare you but to let you know that if your tolerance level was 100% on Nigeria, when you are here uou would have to increase it to 1000%. You'll have to that patience that even the fool will think you're are fool. UK is good. You'll work and be able to do things. Gas and electricity is very expensive. My hill just came for the year. £1444 for gas and £1204 for electricity. Rent and other bills like Internet and water still dey there. You'll have to rent a flat because you can't stay in a room with your kids. It's well. I'll advice you learn to ignore. Me coming yo naira land at this time of the night is becaiee the house has just been on fire with only one person shouting and the other party which is me being quiet. I have been threatened by her that by day break sh go call police for me make I commot for the house. I'm waiting for the day to break.

Lastly in all that you do when uou decide to eventually come here, do not and I repeat no matter what she does, say, or do, do not touch her. Just don't say a word. If she like make she hit you, do not touch her.

Blessings.

Career / Re: How I Lost My Job Through Gambling & Becoming An Irresponsible Father by timojerry: 1:06pm On Feb 15, 2022
Brother,

You can stop, though it is very hard but it can be done. From 2016 to 2019, I used to be in your shoe but by God's grace I have stopped. I had a bank job, lost it because of greed, put my wife and kids under much difficulties, I was building my house but I could not finish it again but God was still faithful. Even at that, I was still gambling. My family would send money and the next thought in my head was to gamble. I would win some and lose many and the urge was still there. I became depressed with life
I am not a saint but God helped me because I did not want to continue like that. My wife did not like me gambling from the beginning after she saw my first bet slip and I started hiding it from her. I have stopped finally now. Even when I see the bookies credit my account, I no dey even use am. They are enticing me but the urge is gone. I see people win but I am not moved. So you can stop.
With God, I am ok now and that is just it.

You can do it. Be determined and you can

Yankeeboy02:
I just want to share my story to the world.
When I graduated, I was so blessed that I didn’t hurt for job, before I got one. I was working in the bank and was paid well, within a year I rented an apartment and got married, things was falling in place and I felt on top of the world before I started gambling, how I started it, I can’t explain. I lost all my resources and money within two years, I was sacked eventually and life became worst for me.
I got another job and promised my wife, family and kids to be a responsible father, but the urge for gambling keep coming, I couldn’t control the urge, I lost the job again.
My wife believed am a good man, but I see myself like am cursed and it is not that am getting money from the gambling.
I am sick and tired of life, I am a failure, sometimes I feel like committing suicide, I have brought shame to my family and kids.
Please I need help, am jobless, money can’t stay in my hand, I will go to gambling shop and lavish it.
Am I cursed, I need help

Sports / England U20 World Cup Winner Ademola Lookman Switches Allegiance To Nigeria by timojerry: 6:04pm On Feb 10, 2022
Leicester City winger Ademola Lookman has had his application to change his nationality to represent Nigeria instead of England approved by FIFA, it was confirmed on Thursday.

Lookman, who is on loan at Leicester from RB Leipzig, was part of England's stunning title win at the 2017 Under 20s World Cup alongside the likes of Dominic Solanke, Kyle Walker-Peters and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The 24-year-old London native, who was born to Nigerian parents and grew up in Peckham, has not played for England's senior team.

Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) chief scout Tunde Adelakun told BBC Sport Africa in November: 'We are aware of Lookman's desire to play for us and I have spoken to him as well. However, there is a process to it.
Nigeria will look to get Lookman involved as soon as possible as they look to qualify for this winter's World Cup in Qatar, with the Super Eagles set to face Ghana in a two-legged play-off next month.

It comes after a disappointing Africa Cup of Nations campaign, which saw them crash out at the last-16 stage after falling to a 1-0 defeat by Tunisia despite enjoying a stellar group stage record.

And with Lookman now available for selection, they will be hoping to qualify for Qatar World Cup. The Super Eagles have only failed to reach the finals once in their last seven attempts.

Good evening esteemed people

Please I just need clarification again. I know it's been said here but we've been getting conflicting information from outside

I've got kids all under 8 and they are my dependants travelling to England. Are my kids supposed to do the PCR test before they travel or it's when we've arrived that they are suppose to do the days 2 and 8 test.

I've read on the gov.uk site that kids under 11 don't need to do the test unless they are over 11 but I'm being told now that it depends on the airline that we book

Please those who have gone with their families and those who've got more knowledge on this, can you kindly help? I've already booked pre travel test for just me and my Mrs.

@justwise and everybody please, it's urgent

Thank you

Good Morning House.

I have a quick question. Will my 2months old baby be counted as a dependant on my study visa application? Also, will I need to have the amount of money to cover for a dependant in my POF because of the 2months old baby?

Thank you for the prompt response.

Any body coming to the UK under your visa and is related to you is your dependent whether a 2 month old or older person

Good morning

There's a running news that it now takes almost 16 weeks to get an NI number for students and their dependents.

How true is this please? If it's true that means dependants won't be able to work until almost after 3 months.

What would they be doing, lol?

Please someone posted here saying immigration officers are asking to see the proof of maintenance funds at the airport.

I want to ask if it's Nigerian immigration officers asking for this before boarding or its the UK immigration officers asking to see the proof of maintenance funds

No pre-departure test for none of the kids

Day 2 and 8 for only your 6 and 8 year old.

- Some companies were recommended for both few pages back. I used Dante but their result delivery was delayed.

- Check location of lab against where you will stay for the period.

Thank you very much

Very true. This isn't bad mouthing or spoiling the businesses of visa agents but you really don't need one to apply. Everything is self explanatory. The fact that it's a point based system makes it seamless.

1Hover1:
Good evening.
Honestly speaking you DON'T need an agent to help you with UKVI application, unless you have excess cash and don't have the time to make the application (this puts you in a very precarious situation cause a stranger just presented you to UKVI as best as he can, given the information received from you. This might come with consequences which only you will have to deal with.... YOUR AGENT CAN DO NOTHING ABOUT HASTENING NOR BYPASSING THE PROCESS TO MAKE YOUR VISA APPLICATION SUCCESSFUL.
That been said, I think your agent doesn't just know what he's doing or he didn't pass his information to you clearly.
The amount required to show Proof of Funds is on page1 of this thread.
I'll summerize.
1. Bal. Of 1 year school fees (after paying tuition deposit) - This varies from school to school

2. Maintenance requirements:
a. £1,334 monthly (for up to 9 months) for within London. This means that you need to show £1,334 * 9 = £12,006 for your maintenance.
b. £1,023 monthly (for up to 9 months) for outside London. This means that you need to show £1,023*9= £9,207 for your maintenance.

3. Spouses and Children (Dependants): Maintenance evidence: Bank statement showing a. £845 monthly * 9 months = £7605 for within London
b. £680 monthly * 9 months = £6,120 for outside London. This must be in the account for at least 28 days; the end of the 28 days must not be older than 31 days before your application.

So assuming you're going to school inside London, and your fees is £15,000, rẹ going with your spouse and 2 kids.
Your POF should show.
1. £15,000 (assuming you haven't paid a single dime for deposit)
2. £12,006 (main applicant maintenance)
3 £7,605 (per depandant) = £7,605 × 3 =22,815
Total POF = £49,821
Use oanda for today ( oanda.com/currency/converter/ ) to convert to naira = N 28,231,500 ( a mark up to 29,500,000 to cover for Naira wild instability)
This is just an example, you can use this understand how to calculate what you actually need.

Cheers!

Good evening people,

I applied for my students visa for a school in England for me and my family and we've been granted. Leaving soon God willing. I've got kids with ages 8, 6 and 1. Are my kids expected to do PCR Covid tests before they travel to England because I checked on the gov.uk website and I really don't understand the English there. I read that kids coming to England under 11 aren't suppose to do pre Covid tests before they travel. Please can anyone who's recently gone or about going confirm this?

Can anyone recommend where I can do pre Covid tests cheaply in Lagos for my family if the kids are required to do it also?

Can anyone also suggest a cheaper days 2 and 8 test also in England?

I'll greatly appreciate if these are answered

I have invested the POF recently transferred to me by my dad for six months. I'm wondering if I would need to submit a letter from my dad stating he gifted me the money as part of my documents since the funds are within six months.

I am the principal applicant but would my partner also submit work references too
