Now you have seen that a normal Individual with AA genotype is the best Match up with a sickle cell person SS.. it's true and let's leave it like that.

In this current age of advancement in health care services, i bet sickle cell patients can lead a normal life with the right resources, diet plans and routines, even stem cell transplant is a breakthrough.

For HIV, there is Pre-exposure prophylaxis and zero viral load for the infected on retroviral drugs so people can get married and even have unprotected coitus and not catch the virus

My point is, Sickle Cell is a condition, HIV is an Infection they all come with their aches, it's not a deterrent for someone not to be happy with a loved one(spread love not discrimination)



Don't try to find out which is better, just wish your current curiosity doesn't actualise to a real life scenario.

I've been on this platform for a while now, following up on front pages issues, learning more everyday...
But when it comes to issues concerning intending couples, one of the reoccurring problem is the issue of one or both the partners being a Sickle cell carrier....
Which leads me to ask... Is Sickle cell better than HIV when it comes to marriage...
Publicly (in Nigeria) ,HIV is being frowned upon as a death sentence, but nobody talks of SICKLE CELL..... Until time of marriage!!!
So what's ur opinion....
Is it better to marry SS person?
Or
Better to marry a HIV positive ( on treatment) person....

My advice to them is...... "Anywhere you find yourself in life, try as much as possible to be the best you can be... Education is important, but Hard-work(physically and intellectually) are more important... " Because you come out with a first class is not a guarantee that u will get a job, remember that there are people with masters in the same field who are underpaid or even unemployed... Don't feel too proud, for everything we do in life prepare us for the next step in life... Remember that, VIRTUALLY EVERY undergraduate wants White collar jobs, and since we all DON'T KNOW tomorrow, we are not sure if we will be among...
So as an undergraduate, study to get good grades and get knowledge, for even if u don't see a job after graduating, what u surely venture into will progress...

I said and vice versa... meaning that in my family, there are 6 boys and 1 girl... am the last child and last boy....

Guys please help me out here... My mum and I have been at loggerheads over this issue of importance of male child... Am the last born in my family and my dad's family lineage has NEVER produced two boys and girls from the same union... It's either a male and the rest females or vice versa.... 3 of my elder ones who have children have the same issue.. Am letting my mum Know that if a have all round Girls(only two children I need), I will let my wife know that the fault is from my family tree... but my mum still insist that "If a woman can't produce male child then I had better get another wife"... And the worse thing here is that, my Dad completely agrees with my mum... Only my brothers agree with me ooh....
