Use your tongue count your teeth boy.
Are you not ashamed of yourself working as a cleaner in the bank?

I actually meant you should hustle and have a good source of income first.
I'm far older than you, that's why I'm advising you.
I learnt through experience, it's hard to get a nice girl to date you and remain faithful if you can't take care of her. Channel your energy and attention on standing up yourself first, girls can only weigh you down. Besides you can't keep a girl you can't take care of.
If you are doing well financially you can have any girl you want.
Don't look down on someone hustling, for you can also be in dat same position or even lower , tomorrow...
Don't "Reject" it coz he himself didn't "Accept" such fate from life....
It can happen to anybody

There is no underlying anything. That's the way blacks are wired.

That is the most convenient way to avoid life's responsibility.

Give him one million chances in life is will end up the same way.

Did you not read him saying that the RCCG people too got fed up?

He started a programme in Unilag in the 1980s, he abandoned it for a greener pasture (a security guard).

Many Africans or blacks do not live for any meaningful purpose in life.

They just live to 'enjoy' life without even knowing what enjoyment mean.

Oh, my friends are traveling abroad, let me leave my work and travel too.

Ahhhh, my friend's misfortune is not my portion...

Most blacks around the world hardly take a thought of anything before they commit their lives and resources into it.

Black people are not guided by sense and thorough analysis but impulse and emotions.

We never take a stock of what would happen if we took this or that decision. What can possibly go wrong?
What would I do if my permutations fall off the mark? How quickly can I make those adjustments? What resources do I have?
What is the exit strategy? What are the social networks to help me cushion the impact? How long could this adventure take?
What is even the essence of it?

It happens till this day.

Just imagine people not bothering about handing 4 years of their entire lives to useless politicians and making projections for another 4 years to be similarly wasted.

For blacks, time, purpose, legacy, responsibility and critical thinking are not high stakes.

A typical black person's life revolves around food, partying, human and object worship, debauchery, vain glory, wild hysteria and shifting responsibility to some gods.

The man was going to Japan for business (if true) but he couldn't care what might happen during business down time.

He was just satisfied with being the 'only successful' black man in the white dominated county.

Just one Italian or Indian would achieve the same feat and the whole place will be filled with Italians or Indians so that they have a social security system and buffer against hard time.

Not Africans. Not blacks. The black man doesn't understand such concept.

All the time he was sponsoring his nephew through school, his own child was going through hard times.

He doesn't even know where the other children are in America.

Romance / Re: Why You Should Throw A Good Wedding Party by TimT: 4:13pm On Dec 14, 2023
saasala:
So I was reading this thread that made frontpage a while ago: https://www.nairaland.com/7940243/weddings-sweet-expensive

So reading all the comments, I got angry and was wondering if every single person here on Nairaland is extremely poor with poverty mentality.

Everyone on the comment except me were saying "Na mumu dey throw wedding party"..."Just go to registry and go home"..."Don't throw a party and go hungry"

Are you all this poor?

Don't get me wrong, if you cannot afford to throw a good wedding party, please don't. Do whatever you can afford. But don't come and call everyone throwing a party mumu.

If you can afford it, please throw a big wedding, as big as your pocket can carry. Don't borrow money to do it so you won't put unnecessary pressure on yourself.

I'm saying this because I know the memories good wedding party creates in your head. You, your spouse, your family will always look back and be happy. Its like the biggest day in your life since you were born. Its a special day for you and should be fun and enjoyable.

Good weddings are a good sight to behold. The ashoebi, the delicious food, the fine hall with chilling AC, the decoration, the MC playing fine games, the DJ playing good music and probably the live band hailing you and your family members. If you have rich friends, they throw some money on your head and you look back and appreciate everyone of them.

I threw a good party, not so elaborate but a very good one. I still look at the photos and videos till today and I feel really fulfilled.

I didn't borrow one kobo to throw the party and neither me, my wife or our children have gone hungry since that day till this moment.

Most of you will do a 60k wedding and still go hungry two months after because you are always poor, big wedding or not

Is everyone here really poor?
Not everyone, but majority of nairalanders lives below $5 per day...
And since it's an indigenous forum, then it reflects the general populace...
According to World Bank, 110 million Nigerians are poor or lives below $1 per day...
That's roughly %50 of the population of around 220million citizens...
So if majority says small wedding is best, then that's according to their financial status

Politics / Re: Is Government Right To Feed Pupils In School? by TimT: 6:12pm On Dec 12, 2023
Mindlog:
Yes, it is right to support children in public primary schools with feeding as overwhelming majority of them are from very poor homes based on the fact that good nutrition supports healthy brain growth in children and increases better educational outcomes,

For those children who didn't choose the vulnerable family they were born into, they look forward to going to school because of that food and it is cheaper in the long run as it reduces the drop out rate at that basic level of education.

Nigeria can easily afford it, the key issue is the corruption that is being embedded in the various feeding programs. Let us assume a public primary school has 600 pupils and the feeding budget for each pupil is N500, that totals N300k per day and for the 5 school days in a week, it totals N1.5m weekly and for the 13 weeks of the school term it culminates at N19.5m.......for the 3 terms in an academic year, we can round it up at N60m for 600 children in one academic year.......while each senator got a SUV worth N160m!

NIGERIA CAN'T EASILY AFFORD IT...
Let's call a spade a spade, the country Nigeria is Poor... GDP per capita clearly shows that the citizens of the country are poor ..
And whether we accept it or not, majority of this overpopulated country are poor.. so now feeding pupils on school after giving them "Free education" is a clear sign of supporting the high population growth...
Other countries that feed and provide some free government support to citizens, their tax rate is very high...
Can we afford high taxation here?

Nigerians just copy results without knowing the process

Abroad school, road are maintained by a percentage of the district housing tax

In Europe you pay as much as 3% to 5% of the house value per year as tax... that's why rich neighborhood have better schools

you create a source yhen implement it

the funds for school feeding in Nigeria can feed Harvard University students alone per year
Baffles me how we think we can feed students with tax that is meant for infrastructural development and sustain this feeding policy
Politics / Is Government Right To Feed Pupils In School? by TimT: 5:08pm On Dec 12, 2023
Actually, I'm writing/asking this in response to the issue of Pupils being hospitalised after eating government food https://www.nairaland.com/7938563/18-pupils-hospitalised-after-eating....

Is it the responsibility of State Government to feed Pupils in schools?
Now, if State Government are feeding them, do they feeds Students of "State Government Secondary Schools"? Or is it only nursery and primary that are hungry?

Because the amount of money going into feeding pupils actually amounts to Millions of Naira gotten from Tax payers money, and not all Tax payers children attend government schools...

Your opinion matters here please...

Lol... ours really didn't have a name.... Each culture has what it's been called...
Normally, according to almost all Nigerian tradition, it's just a small "Token" given to the girl's parents to say thank you for all your efforts in her upbringing to this stage..
But some bride's family takes this "Token issue" so far that it's no more a "Small token" again...
Heavy financial demands...
Too bad

I've experienced such... but it's only in Yoruba tradition I know dat one... the effectiveness is what I don't know?
And refusal to do it I don't know?
But I keep wondering, why is it that here in Nigeria, when we do something that goes against our tradition, some people say there'll be repercussions...and in future, any little stumbling block in life, we attribute it to that ..
But when we do exactly according to tradition, our god's will bless us... YET WE STILL REMAIN POOR AND STILL SUFFERING...
