Onaya: I got an email about some changes on my application status an hour ago from IRCC , even though my application was refused yesterday. Who has ever experienced such a thing before? Is it a sign of anything positive? They are trying to update it completely. On your current status, after that message, they will put refused there. If it was approved after your passport has been stamped, u will receive same msg and on the status bar, it will show approved with counterfoil etc. |

Andytheo: PPR Alert!!
Indeed God is faithful. I'm so grateful to all the members on this platform that has helped me in my study permit application.
I'll try my best to keep this post short.
The very first thing I did when I began my journey to study in Canada was to take IELTS Academic. I sat for the exam on the 10th of April, 2021 and results came in sometime around May. Thankfully, I had an overall band 7.5. Listening-8.5 Reading-7.5 Writing-6.5 Speaking-7.5.
After that, I started applying to colleges because I didn't get into universities. I applied to Cambrian, Durham, Georgian, Lambton and Conestoga colleges (all in Ontario). Got admissions in all, thankfully. I chose to study Computer Applications Development in Conestoga to begin in January, 2022.
Then my visa journey started...

Truly, it has been God all the way. I know my application wasn't perfect but God perfected it.
I studied Chemical engineering and I'm going for a PGCert in Computer Applications Development. Isn't God wonderful?!
My sponsor is my elder brother, no lump sum, no landed properties or company registration. Just the first term tuition was paid ($8,723). I was worried about my family ties but I talked about my love for my family and opportunities in Nigeria upon completing my studies.
Though the application might be very stressful, the wait may seem long, trust in God and He will make everything beautiful in His time.
Indeed, it will end in praise. Congratulations, u can see u are relieved now, no village people will steal your glory. Some people will learn from ur timeline now, however quick question for u. U studied chemical engineering but apply for computer was your job experience in line with the course u apply for?, How did u take career progression. Thank you. Canada will favour u. |

Teemenzo: We still haven't answered the question about vaccination. These cases memtioned, have they been vaccinated? Because they can't just be giving us numbers without the total fact. How many of the five have been vaccinated? How many of the five already had covid before? Probably got healed of covid, How many of the five has visited the origin of Omicron which is South africa? How will Nigeria not have a case and people leaving from Nigeria are declared positive? I don't even understand this people. May be they are using style to include Nigeria in their ban list. May be these people are South African who just pass thru Nigeria.May God not allow it to happen. I degree and declare |

Onaya: Yes, I did prove my relationship with my sponsor in my SOP and backed it up with some docs. Though my admission came with a fully-funded tuition scholarship and a TAship from my department.
However, I didn't include my personal bank statement as at when I submitted my application because my sponsor's was handsome, and I also got another internal scholarship of $5k CAD from my faculty, whose document I sent to IRCC via a web form. I guess my inability to include my SOA led to the refusal. This is serious oo, fully funded and still got refusal letter. Nawa oooo. You can't predict these people |

chimax1: Guys please so advice will help. I have already received my study permit and have my flight initially scheduled for 17th Dec. In light of the looming travel ban that may be initiated especially with the omicron strain supposedly imported to canada by Nigerian Travellers, I reviewed my flight to this weekend. The thing is school resumes Jan 10th and my travel date is more than 4weeks which is the required travel time for students on IRCC website. Am i just being paranoid or is it still okay? I have completed one semester already in naija. Firstly, there is no 4wks whatever again, they have cancelled it since so u can enter anytime. You people should always try to read the thread, we just discussed this earlier today. However, due to omicron thing, I just read on CBC news that Covid test will be taken at the airport for all passengers. We pray it will not results to ban. Amen See the attached

This new measure was updated on Friday 26th November 2021 before the discovery of the variant in Canada yesterday from 2 passengers from Nigeria.
I will suggest everyone with visa to stay glued to their TV and internet for latest updates today/tomorrow plus travel as soon as possible, even if it means bringing your date closer for those that have booked their tickets already. Ok the news will be aired in 30min time. Finger crossed |

Onaya: Hello Nairalanders,
My application of 6 months and 20 days—May 9, 2021—got refused this morning because of personal assets and financial status. Lemme go take some cold beer to chillax a bit because I cannot come and kill myself. Of course, it would be igodominously omicronous for me to dwell in the pain of the refusal after such moments of exasperating wait.
But then, wetin I go gain if I no reapply kwanu? Oh! my fellow May applicants, so sorry for the delay, order ur gcms note and refire. It will end in praise |

makano: Hello Kenny
I wanna assume it was an agent that told you the bolded.. Similar to a statement an applicant told me that her agent told her she should not dare send a mail to any MP, that they will refuse her application with immediate effect... You can just imagine such statement..
So please go ahead with your emails..
Dunno why you all are scared of sending them mails when you know your application has passed the IRCC approved processing time...
The only time you are not expected to bug them with emails or web-forms is when your application is still within the processing time..
Lets be guided
Peace Honestly it depends on the tonation of the msg sent. I know a girl who got refused after sending 15mails, webform and Mp. I asked her to send her msg to me of which she did. My brother if l am the VO, I will refuse her 2times. So when sending any mail, let send a well constructive, mannerly msg. Not with commanding or authoritative one. My little additives!! |

Indonesia just banned all flights coming from Nigeria. Other African countries have refused to close their borders to the southern African countries and so many countries will feel this "African variant " will spread quickly so if u can book ur flight b4 the real winter starts, book it.I have officially applied for leave from my company. atiteb4: who gave you the advise? Some people do renew their passport before travelling though. Let's make more findings Did l say he should not renew before travelling. If ur passport is not 6months to the expiring date it might be difficult to renew except u have strong person that can do it for u as per Niger, but if u didn't get it done it's better u do it there than sending the new passport to IRCC after u have received ur visa |

atiteb4: if one renews his passport before travelling, I hope the person won't have issues at the point of entry? Also, will the immigration officers at the POE stamp the old passport that carries the visa or the new one?
Can one renew the passport that has a student visa even if it's not up to 6months to the expiring date? The reason is that the passport will expire March 2023 and I don't think I would have time renewing my passport in Canada and reapplying for the visa inside Canada. Is better u renew there, I'm in d same shoe l heard not difficult |

joyenaholo11: The passport office is saying it’ll take about 3 weeks to get a new one since there’s still up to 1year left on the old passport….saying it would have been way quicker if it was almost expired. Please, my question now is will sending this current passport with only 1 year validity be a red flag to the embassy? Can they deny us stamping cause we don’t have enough validity? They can't deny u. U will renew when u get there. Same thing happened to me and my pp is stamped already |

Carebeyondcure: Long Post Alert First Time Applicant in fact I have never entered a plane before. God is faithful and is always on time God stood by me and didn’t put me to shame when I started this Canada journey I didn’t even know I could do it because somebody told me Canada is a no go area so channeled my energy towards the U.K immediately I got admission there I was ready to apply for a visa but my dad insisted that Canada is the goal, not the U.K. I reluctantly applied to just one university (University of Windsor) Master of Management(HRM) I applied in February and in between I got a job offer that was very suitable for my career but they decided to bond me for 2 years I was willing to let go of traveling out to take the job offer and my father insisted that Canada is the goal I was hurt because I have gone through all the processes for the job but I had to leave it because of that I found nairaland but I have already applied to the university then I saw something like career progression then I was scared because I have B.Sc. in Insurance and I applied for HRM all in all I was granted admission on May 30. I also learned about the NSE route and that I have to take IELTS that’s when wahala started oo because right from day one my uncles have always told me that the exam is very hard so I have made up my mind to avoid it but at this point, there’s no going back I practiced by myself and wrote it. Through this platform, I met Spectro baba (lol) the first time I messaged him I was able to pay my tuition fee through his guidance something I’ve been trying to do for a month. I applied on August 31st I went for upfront medical since July I was intentional about it. The wait after getting my correspondence letter was very tiring I sent a lot of emails, ordered my GCMS notes yet to receive it though, and raised webforms but I calm down a bit after the MP I contacted told me congratulations I still waited for a week before I got my approval. The wait humbled me because I don’t even know who to beg I remembered sending mail and I used their creator to beg them. All in all, God did it NLP also helped me to pray and I attended reboot camp. The way I will dance in church tomorrow ehn in fact they will need to hold me. GLORY!!!!!
