In one year of Buhari govt, boko haram would've exceeded the total number of those killed between 2009 to May 2015.
Buhari is a record breaker, breaking the wrong record since 1984. |

The latest carnage in series of attacks that have claimed more than 200 lives in just three days happened Friday. According to an AFP tally, no fewer than 650 people have been killed since President Muhammadu Buhari took over in May.
Local resident Haladu Musa, who fled the attack, told how ‘large numbers’ of fighters poured into the village, overpowering government forces deployed to prevent the insurgents reaching Maiduguri.
Then, as people began to flee, a number of female suicide bombers started blowing themselves up in their midst, killing large numbers of people, he said.
‘Most of the casualties came from the suicide bombings,’ he said, without being able to give a precise figure for the dead and injured, Mr Musa said.
‘A total of six suicide bombers detonated themselves… killing scores of people while some people were also wounded. A soldier also died,’ the Nigerian army said in a statement without specifying the sex of the bombers.
The army said a jeep full of improvised explosive devices was recovered by troops, adding there was an ongoing search ‘for any bombs that might have been hidden or left unexploded in the area.’
Musa said the militants looted shops and torched ‘almost half the village’ before eventually being repelled after the military sent in reinforcements.
Danlami Ajaokuta, a civilian vigilante helping the military battle Boko Haram, who also witnessed the attack, spoke of heavy casualties.
‘The main concern now is to evacuate and attend to the injured and later recover the dead bodies now lying in the village,’ he said, adding that more than 100 injured had been taken to hospital.
Boko Haram, which is fighting to establish a hardline Islamic state in northeast Nigeria and has sworn allegiance to the Islamic State group, has intensified its campaign of violence since President Muhammadu Buhari came to power on May 29.
The Zabarmari attack followed a string of attacks across restive Borno state since Wednesday that have been blamed on the jihadists.
Earlier this week, militants gunned down worshippers at evening Ramadan prayers, shot women in their homes and dragged men and boys from their beds to kill them in the dead of night.
A young female suicide bomber also killed 12 worshippers when she blew herself up in a mosque.
Buhari condemned the attacks as ‘inhuman and barbaric’ and again vowed to end the Islamists’ six-year-old insurgency which has killed at least 15,000 people and displaced 1.5 million others.
Buhari’s spokesman Femi Adesina said Saturday the president would keep his pledge to defeat the Islamists but added that the government did not rule out talks with the insurgents.
‘If Boko Haram opts for negotiation, the government will not be averse to it,’ Adesina said a statement.
‘Government will, however, not be negotiating from a position of weakness, but that of strength,’ he said. http://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2015/07/05/6-female-suicide-bombers-kill-dozens-death-toll-now-650/ |

Parents of the abducted students of Government Secondary School (GSS) Chibok, Borno, on Sunday alerted the public on the activities of some fraudsters using their names to defraud Nigerians and corporate bodies.
More than 200 students of the school were abducted by suspected insurgents on April 14, 2014, while writing their final examination.
Mr Yakubu Maina, the Chairman of the association of parents of the abducted girls, raised the alert at a news conference in Maiduguri.
"We wish to alert Nigerians and corporate organisations on the existence of some individuals and organisations masquerading as parents of Chibok girls to defraud them of their money.
"The call became necessary because this group have turned the agitation for the release of our daughters into a scam," he said.
Maina, suppported by the Secretary of the association, Mr Lawan Zanna, lamented that the group had often deceived some parents of the girls into attending their functions only to be duped.
"We have realised that the whole thing have been turned into business by individuals who pretend to be fighting our cause.
"Some real parents had been lured to attending meetings with highly placed individuals in Abuja and beyond only to discover that they have been short changed by these individuals," Maina said.
He said that 14 parents of the abducted girls have died due to heart related diseases.
"Fourteen parents have so far died since the abduction of our girls in 2014.
"Most of them died due mainly to heart related diseases and trauma," said the chairman. http://www.wepushnews.com/2015/07/fraudsters-are-defrauding-nigerians.htmlhttp://www.today.ng/news/chibok-girls-parents-alert-public-on-fraudsters-using-their-names-to-scam-corporate-bodies/ |

If social media are responsible now for terrorism, who were responsible for the maitatsine terrorist of the 1980s?
Sorry to say this but extremist Islam has a role to play in all this. |
Politics › Internet, Social Media Responsible For Terrorism – Sanusi by TippyTop(op): 1:10pm On Jul 05, 2015 |
The Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi II, said the exposure of the youths of today to Information Technology and new/social media was why they (youths) were becoming Jihadists and Boko Haram members.
The Emir stated this at the 10th annual Ramadan lecture titled, “The challenges of Muslim Ummah in the 21st Century,” organised by VON, NTA and FRCN in Kaduna.
According to traditional ruler, the youths learn new ideologies from the internet and after watching, make up their minds to go to Iraq and Syria, to join the Jihadist groups.
“With information technology and the emergence of the internet and social media, today, youths go on the computer and learn Islam from Facebook and Twitter. They learn Islam from video’s they watch on Facebook and after 14 to 15 hours of watching new things, they feel the need to become jihadists. “They get up and go to Iraq or Syria or somewhere and join the groups, and there are no controls. Right inside your house, your son can be sitting upstairs in the bedroom getting indoctrinated into an extremist without your knowledge. We need to watch what our children watch and we need to talk to them. If we do not give them the correct Islamic Education, they will find the wrong education on the internet,” he explained.
The former CBN Governor lamented that so much time had been spent in ignorance, adding that Western education was important and it was inevitable for parents to send their children to acquire education but parents had to note that their children could become radicalised in any country of the world through the internet, and not only when they go to Islamic countries.
“You have children going to England and becoming radicalised in America, on the internet, not only in the Muslim countries. So, we need to make sure that we give our children correct Islamic education especially to take them away from religion extremism. “In the 21st Century, the Muslim Ummah is facing enormous challenges. This century is facing challenges such as changing from traditional lifestyle to modern lifestyles,” he added.
On the issue of forced early marriage of the girl-child, Sanusi said it was one issue that was hurting and destroying the society, adding that it could not be disconnected from the Boko Haram insurgency ravaging the country.
“Are we still living in the era where fathers can force their daughters into marriage without their permission? Yes we are. Early marriage, yes we are in Nigeria. And it is hurting and destroying our society. We are the ones to address these social issues and they are problems. http://dailypost.ng/2015/07/05/internet-social-media-responsible-for-terrorism-sanusi/?wt=2 |
