Arysexy: That's the lies northerners have Bern telling for ages.

Coal, oil palm, rubber, cocoa etc were not exported only groundnut was.

They Tell this lie to justify their continues fixation on crude oil.
And while agricultural products were being "taxed" at 50%.
The federal govt got to keep a higher proportion of the revenue from coal.

either case is neither defection or desertion.

vicadex07: The causes of the Nigerian civil war could be
grouped into economic, political and social.

Economic:
Before the discovery of oil in the east, the nation' revenue had relied heavily on the groundnuts from the north. The then revenue was largely from the north, it was shared equally among all the regions.
Stop lying to yourself.
The reason Lugard joined the south and north was to use revenues from the south to subsidize the north.
Yes, that word, subsidy. We north have been spoon fed for 100 years.
While the northern region's revenue mainly came from cotton, ground-nuts and tin, they kept 50% while the federal government got 50% of revenues.
The Western Region kept 50% of revenues from products like cocoa while the eastern region also kept 50% of revenues from coal, rubber, palm oil.
The value of products from the north was the least and it was no mainstay of the federal government.

MissMeiya: He has zero traits of leadership.

- quick decision making
- direct and constant communication with the public
- inspirational speaking (speeches, eye contact, strength of voice, concise campaign-able points, etc.)
- inspirational looks (countenance, posture, etc.)
- uniting instead of dividing
- being seen as a force instead of a victim
- taking responsibility for everything, no matter who was directly responsible, as long as it happened under his watch
- keeping promises instead of making empty boasts
- taking action instead of making weak accusations

Seriously, I could go on. He has none. Nothing.

I don't have anything against him personally. I'm just utterly underwhelmed by him. He is not a leader. And Nigeria does not need a spineless puppet at its helm.

Even if the leader was taking Nigeria in the wrong direction, at least they would be leading Nigeria somewhere! He's just sitting and watching. No wonder people are beginning to call him Nero.

From being brazenly occupied and attacked by terrorists (to the extent that the PRESIDENT was AFRAID to set foot in part of his own country!), to part of the country being declared under control of a terrorist group? And it's been 5 years? And the man is in Germany chatting with a football team in Canada?

Politics › Re: 480 Nigerian Soldiers Flee To Cameroon by tit(f): 6:12pm On Aug 25, 2014
hansad: Nigerian soldiers desert because they are being sabotaged by insiders for B/Haram. Not because they are not well-equiped. In Gworza, police were asked by superior to drop their AK 47 rifles - more than 200 in number. Immediately after the drop, B/Haram collected all the weapons. Continue to deceive gullible others who do not understand that your lot are marching every Nigerian towards the Islamic Republic of Nigeria. Part of your lot's campaign tricks to get one Islamic Republic of Nigeria is to persuade confused Nigerians to lay every blame on what is wrong with Nigeria on shoeless Jonathan.
A similar scenario happened in Iraq.
Sunni officers simply told the units under their commands to disband. The man abandoned their equipment (which ISIS is showing off and using till day) and tried to melt into the general population.

We have seen videos of hundreds at a military school who surrendered without lifting a finger before they were machine gunned in a ditch.

komekn: Ozonna,

I remain anonymous but I do have a fairly decent amount of experiential knowledge in this subject area. The tank in question is a T55 essentially 1960 's tech. armour is not clearly effective against RPG7 or sustained 20mm fire, your advantage is in engaging Boko at distance of which its not that accurate against fast moving targets as it 100mm gun is not stabilised, and I am talking about a tank in top serviceable condition. Furthermore they are slow, most likely poorly serviced spare parts not available as they are essentially obsolete. and I suspect we did not deploy them in enough numbers to give us any kind of advantage.

In all honesty these armoured vehicles we have deployed are outdated don't have precision weapons stations and target acquisition software, for example a Boxster and or Patria MRAV with a remote weapons station even at night could acquire multiple target with 100% accuracy at 1.5km and beyond essentially take out 10 technicals before they even got near to 500metres. Furthermore, it could got toe to toe with a Boko technical and take hits without any penetration of its armour even RPG7s.

The Otokar Cobra which we use in frontal assaults is a Light armoured vehicle will not take hits from a 50cal and will be ripped open by a 20mm or above on those technicals. Not surprisingly we opted for the most basic model almost zero electronic interfacing, that's why they can be captured and we can't track them.

If you capture a US, French etc vehicle you have just set yourself up to be laser bombed and or Excaliber artillery shelled to your 73 virgins, furthermore all your movements communications incl. satellite wil be tracked and you will be at serious disadvantage. This is what modern fit for purpose linked in assets give you.
From the little we know of the NA, do you think they can run target acquisition software in battlefield conditions?
You say the T-55 is no good, but Bh capture it and tun it into a lethal machine.

So far the NA has been so useless that i refuse to believe they can be so brainless.
It looks like their idea of deployment is to send some men with ak-47s to stand around. no thought as to what the enemy they would come against will be armed with. Even the 2003 Iraqi army learned how to neuter US heat seeking equipment in 24 hours. The NA cannot be so useless, i like to kid myself they are being sabotaged from within.

While waiting for the boxters, how difficult is it to get them technicals with AA guns? The quick win would be to restore NA traditional advantage of numbers: provide them with hundreds of technicals.
The days of the dog-soldier are coming to an end.

Politics › Re: Tinubu Travels Abroad For Medical Treatment by tit(f): 4:01pm On Aug 25, 2014
AZeD1: Tinubu is a private citizen and he can go anywhere he wants for medical treatment. The question you should be asking is where he went for medical treatment when he WAS governor.

If PEJ went to Germany for treatment, what is the fate of over 170 million Nigerians?

PS: Yar'Adua a pdp president and two time governor died in a foreign hospital, Stella Obasanjo, wife of a two time pdp president died in a foreign hospital, Your state governor(pdp) Chime spent almost the whole of last year in a foreign hospital.

You can hate APC all you want, its your choice but when it comes to health care failure in Nigeria, PDP makes APC look like amateurs.

OP Out of curiosity, why didn't you create a thread when your state governor was in the hospital at your expense?
brother,
is this the reason fashola will use hand and scatter the fine fine hospitals Asiwaju built?
so the doctors will inject him bad drug because he is not governor again?
please please let us get tinubu and fashola to work together to deliver dividend of democacy.

Ghost01: The allocation was made based solely on the voting population of the various geopolitical components of Nigeria. Stop making an issue out of what is not! The world needs less politicians.
So this means that population of the north is growing at 3 times the rate of the population of the south.

Tinubu built world-class hospitals with the latest sophisticated scanners that can find any jedi-jedi anywhere in your bodi.
The problem is this boy Fashola has sold all the equipment. The ones he cannot sell, he allowed to rot and rust.
Then he sacked all the doctors Tinubu sent for training abroad.
My brother it is not easy.

What does the field title "proportional distribution based on 150,000" mean?
Is a better measure not mean voters/per PU?

Why is there an attempt to give each state the same number of PUs?
Shouldn't PU simply be based on number of voters?

tochukwuifeduba: As a matter of military strategy its pertinent the army continues its tactical withdrawal from towns in North East Nigeria and allow Boko haram to seize and control territories.
After the 2015 elections, the Army including the Airforces and infantry soldiers will launch operation BLACK CRAB to encircle boko haram and annihilates 80 percent of their fighting force in one single blow using the Assult helicopters, Jet bombers and ground troops.
Also a new Division should be open in the Nigeria army under the DSS where Civilians from other part of Nigeria can volunteer for one month military training and deployment to the north east Nigeria to engage boko haram fighters. Those Civilains will be know as NIGERIA PATRIOTIC COMMANDOS( NPC)
The rebel declaration of caliphate is a welcome development because it will open a new front in this war and make it a conventional warfare and not the endless guerilla war.
