I always tend to stay away from topics involving nurses and doctors because each party usually comes up with sentimental judgements about who should be paid more or who is more important. I have taken the time to read up all the posts in this topic and i have dismissed alot with a wry smile because they are simply ignorant ideas. Nurses and Doctors are 2 different entities but are interdependent in delivering healthcare services. Nurses and doctors are the general titles for these professionals but i want to believe we realise there are a whole lot of specialties in both profession. I was starting to nod my head in approval of ell77's post until i got to about no 3. Nurses don't just carry out physicians advise, they have to make alot of there and then decisions involving the patient's life. We've got alot of nurse practitioners and prescribers, who can see a patient and prescribe the necessary treatment. We've nurses that train to be paramedics, whom patients' lives depends on, at terribly awkward conditions, we have so many specialties in nursing that it's so ignorant to think Doctors can replace nurses like ell77 claims. Nurses are not just there because doctors can't be there, we are there because the patients need us just like they need the physicians. Ell77, Nurses also have their arses bursted and their licenses taken off them for administering the wrongly prescribed medication from a doctor. Infact nurses are more legally obligated than the doctors in this area as we are the one directly administering it so we are expected to know exactly what the correct dose and the correct medication is before administration. That is why we have the BNF for reference purposes under the drug trolley 24/7. In the nursing home which i work as a bank staff, some GPs often ask for our ideas on the type of medication we often give for one condition or the other, and often than not we have the medication written down to request for a prescription off the GP, as he knows we know our residents better than he does. Nursing is far more fetched than alot of the public understand, the stereotypical idea is so difficult to erase, especially in nigeria. Anyway, healthcare involves more than just nurses and doctors, it involves alot more professionals in the background. ell77 its okay to stick up forur profession but its so bad to run down others'. |

I assume you and your old folks are living in naija, so why not get 1 or 2 live in-domestic workers for them, renovate their apartment, visit them more often, or get thm a mobile phone, so you can call thm very often(evryday if u like), inform ur siblings of the issue and wot u intend to do and encourage thm to visit too. Draw a visiting timetable if its necessary for u and ur siblings, so u dont hv to do all the travelling. But please and please, don't make the mistake of bringing thm over to live with you, none of the parties involved would mean any harm, but it just doesn't work out. 2 is company, 3 is crowd. But at the same time, be thr 4 ur folks, thy made u wot u r today. |
This thread's tittle shd be changed to smthg like ''WAR ZONE'' It shdnt be surprising tho, Dating Zone = War Zone. Wetin dis thg thm call dating go cause 4 dis world, hand no go reach am. Na so so fight fight from page 1 to 10; and na only those involved sabi wetin cause thm fight; more like whn married couples are fighting and they can't give a definite reason for the fight, = na bed dey cause katakata. |
Thanks alot Iskwew, for your posts, i really hope and wish them the best cause its really hard living apart as married couples, i dont think i can do it, but they both seem so much in love that you just wanna see them happy together. Even thm old folks couldn't say no cause they kind of both radiate with so much love even tho they are miles apart. I sometimes even them oh, tho i'm in love with my man too and i'm happy. |
Iskwew:@ Iskwew, Your situation and hers are different, she isn't a US citizen yet ( just a resident), she lived most part of her life in Nigeria and doesnt mind relocating back there. She wants to remain in the US till she gets her citizenship in about 3 years to now and can then relocate back, because her boyfriend seems to have better job prospect in nigeria though she hasn't but she doesnt mind this either. He will be able to travel to see his lover any time without restrictions till shes able to relocate to him. So iskwew, nobody is marrying for papers here, they are getting married against all odds because they are so much in love and want to be together. Do you understand ?? ![]() |
Thanks alot @salsera,Was begining to think no one would reply me. I really appreciate your response. So we needn't be there, but our old folks have never met before, they don't even recognise each other. I'm so anxious about it all, but i guess it wil be alrite. I also learnt bothe parties prepare smthg like a gifts basket to give to each other. . . don't know if this is right or not. |
What's introduction ceremony about ? what happens, who's invited, E.t.c. I will appreciate all informative comments. I have never been to one, and i'm curious as mine is in a few months in naija. Thanks @ y'all in advance. |
I guess i'm the only lady who snores in the world I didn't use to snore till i took up a job that was so damn hectic and changed my sleeping pattern, (working nights in between days) plus i put on more weight, and i was emotionally troubled. I snored heavily and i knew i did, cause i hear myself sometimes. I wasnt a bit bothered about it though, cause at the time, it was the least of my problems. Then, all of a sudden, burdens were lifted off my shoulders, i found the reason to live again but alas ! i still sounded like a moving train in my sleep(tht was how my Fiance described it) He doesnt snore, and i keep waking him with mine. But i guess his kind of love is just awsomely different, he'd rather work with me to change anything he feels he doesnt like, and we've overcome it, i'm much much slimmer, prettier, sexier and i sleep like a baby tht i am. |
thanks @miniepoe, you dont know how reliving it is to read from someone who's been in a similar situation. she and her husband to be have decided to tie the knots nxt yr march, he would take some unpaid time off his work/job in nigeria and try his luck where she lives, but he says if he feels he's got more prospects back at home, he'll have to return, and they'll be abe to visit each other as much as they want till shes got what she wants and moves back to him. |
@sisi, I'll be in 9 months, but i'm learning a whole lot on this thread. I'm not so into sexy lingeries, i'm more into comfortable, fitting ones, but i guess i have to change my orientation and learn to invest in the sexy ones. |
i'm happy for you, keep it up. They'll soon outgrow it entirely, just rem to always keep the speedo at check. Reduce when u feel they're scared. |
Seun:I'm so much in support of the above, especially when you're trying to win their trust back. I personally don't mind driving fast, mayb cuz i'm used to it as my dad was and is still a very fast driver but a very careful one too. But the very first day my fiance drove with me in the car on top speed, we had an accident, i lost my trust in his driving, i scream even when he is on 80km/hr on a high way, this is just natural. Overtime and due to realising i really hv to overcome this fear as it was begining to make us fight more often than not, i overcame the fear, by putting My trust in God, but kids might find it harder to deal with. So you have to build the trust back gradually, not by ignoring ur kid telling u, u're on 80km/hr, tht will only make them more scared. |

I'm learning, keep the ball rolling @y'all |
My answer for this kind of question is being the same since i was a lil girl. I LOVE TO BABYSIT. When i was still about 7 8 yrs old, i go to our neighbour who was newly married with a baby (when all my friends are out playing). When i was in school of Nursing, the students with babies, and the nurses with babies who had no baysitter at home would bring their babies to my room. I stab lectures and postings to babysit. It didnt go down well with my roomates tho, but they had to stick with it. even strangers, i'll have their babies if they can let me for an hour or two. And the most amazing thing is babies dont cry on me, except they r hungry or wet or smthg. Most of them love to cuddle in my arms. OH I LOVE BABIES, CAN'T WAIT TO HAVE ONE OF MINE. I actually babysit for my cousin's wife till the baby tot i was the mom, cause she was always wiv me, 247slept wiv me from 5 months till she was a yr old. Alot of pple tot she was mine, and my other cousin's baby too. The gateman to our estate couldnt help asking me if i had thm months apart from each other, BUT I REALLY DO LOVE TO BABYSIT. |
davidylan:its actually my identical twin sister. ![]() seriously now, What she thinks again is that, when they get married, and she gets pregnant, she can have her baby here and then go to nigeria for her 6 to 9 months maternity leave and probably longer (unpaid mat leave). All in a bid to while away the required period of time 4 her citizenship. She says she's doing it for the future of her kids and incase of incasity. I know its hard, but they've bin thru harder times. they seem to be meant for each other and they are so crazy abt thmselves. But you never can tell, if the hussy hits it bigtyme in da states, thy might end of settling down here, but they both arent so keen abt tht. |
I saved my bf's name as Hon, Hon2, Hon hse, Hon work. A guy friend checked my fone onetime like tht and asked who honorable was. i was like . . .silly, its honey! not honorable. honorable honey sounds cool too, don't it ? ![]() |

Gridlock:I'm seriuosly trying to put my claws in here. waste the hard earned money saved up by the poor felow towards his already probably over-blown wedding How sexist or should i say ignorant of anyone to make a statement like the above. I, as an example (in thousands of other ladies like me) planning our wedding ceremony(with my fiance ofcuz), and if it isnt 50/50, i'll be spending more and so would my family. so please put a sock in that archaic idea of poor fellas! |
ikamefa:You'll have to understand your hubby too that they are the peeps that make him tick even if they make you sick. |
I need more views and opinions on thiss topic pleassssssssss. My friend is desperate and about to make a final decision. |
exactly wot i tot too, Told her they should think of waiting for the 3 yrs before getting married. But she's like why wait since they r both in love and tht the marriage will be not make anythg different from what it is at the moment. She says, Its just getting a certificate, it doesnt change one's feelings. |
@aproko she isn't illegal, she's got her papers to work legally and can get her husband over with the papers she's got now. Just that if she goes back to Nigeria finally without her citizenship, she will lose the chance. She says its for both their future, e.g kids would go to universities there without much hazzle, and in case anythg happens in future, she's got back up and can run back abroad. |

I didn't use to snore till i took up a job that was so damn hectic and changed my sleeping pattern, (working nights in between days) plus i put on more weight, and i was emotionally troubled.
