Amid a flurry of backlash and ridicule, President Trump walked back his suggestion that scientists test whether disinfectants, such as bleach, could be injected inside the human body to fight the coronavirus, claiming Friday that he had said it sarcastically.

The president offered his idea for a cure in the White House briefing room Thursday after a presentation that mentioned disinfectants can kill the novel coronavirus on surfaces and in the air.

“I see the disinfectant that knocks it out in a minute, one minute,” Trump said during Thursday’s coronavirus press briefing. “And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside, or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets inside the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it would be interesting to check that.”

The question, which Trump offered unprompted, immediately spurred doctors, lawmakers and the makers of Lysol to respond with incredulity and warnings against injecting or otherwise ingesting disinfectants, which are highly toxic.

When asked Friday during a bill signing in the Oval Office to expand upon this, Trump said it was not intended as a serious suggestion.

There was no indication when he made the initial remarks that they were not a real recommendation.

“My concern is that people will die. People will think this is a good idea,” Craig Spencer, the director of global health in emergency medicine at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, told The Washington Post. “This is not willy-nilly, off-the-cuff, maybe-this-will-work advice. This is dangerous.”

The Archbishop who backed Pastor Chris Oyakhilome on his comment of 5G network and Coronavirus being part of the Antichrist's plan for a One World Order, stated that the Nigerian government must desist from making policies that will harm citizens of the country.

The cleric also disclosed that he has already sent a letter on the emergence of 5G network to President Buhari.

A video making rounds online captured the moment a Nigerian lady passed out after her boyfriend proposed to her on her birthday.

The identity of the lady was not immediately available at the time of filing this report, but the incident occurred while she was being cheered on by her friends.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Agriculture, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, as caught on camera removing his face mask to sneeze during plenary yesterday March 24th.

The senator representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District who removed his mask as the involuntary action happened, quickly put the mask on immediately after noticing the reaction from other senators.

Some senators adjusted their face masks properly, while others burst into laughter prompting the Senate Leader, Yahaya Abdullahi, who was addressing the chamber to halt his speech a few times.

An angry mob in the ancient town of Akesan in Oyo State attacked a fire station in protest after the popular Akesan market went up in flames in the early hours of Sunday.

Akesan market is famous for sale of wide range of food items, local artifacts, clothing materials, household utensils and more. Goods and valuables worth millions of Naira were said to have been destroyed in the fire.

Eyewitnesses said that the inferno started around 12:30am. Although the immediate cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed, some people, however, attributed the incident to electric spark.

Traders were seen wailing and weeping profusely as all efforts to quench the fire did not yield positive response, it was learnt that the firefighters from Oyo could not move to the scene of the incident because their equipment was not in good shape. The Fire Station in Oyo is only 20 meters to the market.

The people of the town reportedly went wild with rage when the official on duty told them that they could not do anything to quell the raging fire because there was no water in their fire truck. Some of the traders called for help as they stated that most of them borrowed loan from Microfinance banks and need to repay.

The enraged mob reportedly set up the truck and other property at the Fire station on fire in protest.

Firefighters from Ibadan had arrived at the scene with a backup from Ogbomoso to battle the inferno.

A community leader who was also at the scene, urgd the government is to reconstruct the market and support the traders with no interest loan.
