Even a traditional 4-4-2 is a waste of tactical leverage when you have a striker like Drogba who can do the job of 2 men upfront.

I have never been convinced at Drogba/Anelka playing together. . . . who is gonna come deep to link the play. . . On Sunday, it was Drogba coming deep. . . . he worried a lot, but his technique wasnt up to scratch. . . we also missed his knockdowns as he was deeper than Anelka.

The funny thing is that Anelka was looking like a World Class right winger toward the end of last season.

i personally think Anelka is good at moving with the ball and could come deep to support Drogba
Drogba playing deep will be tantamout to disaster cos Anelka will not just be as effective as Drogba

If Anelka could do well on the wings last season, then that buttresss my point that he could play deep to support drogba.

Well Ancelotti better free up his agidi or he'll be getting sacked soon. We have always had bad experiences with diamond formation. We have no Seedorf who can hold the ball for long periods until the full-back catches up with him to provide the overlap, neither do we have a Kaka who can drift wide with the ball. Diamond is a dead formation. JM used in 06/07 and flopped. Hiddink used it against Spurs last season and that was the most dreadful performance under his reign. We have one of the only strikers in the world who is truly capable of playing upfront by himself. That should give us the tactical advantage of flooding and controlling the midfield. Playing Anelka uptop with Drogba is a waste of tactical leverage.
