@Saga Cuts and soft dollars are monies u earn aside ur emoluments. I know my top execs issue cheques to lawyers on most of our transactions aside the official fees due to their firm. Its a normal thing and also they tend to do one on one legal advisory for peeps that cannot afford their huge fees Olaniwun Ajayi is a law firm and they own that multi million dollar edifice that houses Zain. its a sky scrapper and the building is one of the most expensive office complex in Lagos On the average, the Oil and Gas sector pay higher than other sectors. The only problem with the sector is that people don't usually get promoted and the thing is, u might enter the sector with a high salary and u'll still be earning the same amount in 5 years. Finance is catching up, they pay huge bonuses when they make money; on the average, the differential in salary compared to O n G is minimal but people prefer Oil and Gas cos of the fact that u do little to earn a lot. For every dollar u earn in IB, u'll probably dissipate a lot of energy to earn it. With time, d financial sector will be at par or overtake the Oil and Gas @Ajanlekoko Ure right cos I know some MNCs that are still paying huge sums to McKinsey for some sort of interventions. Presently, McKinsey are in Abuja in partnership with a leading indigenous consulting firm on some projects in 9ja. With the way u top professionals are training urselves on almost everythn, I hope u won't make the likes of Accentue and Phillips Consulting go broke. Lol |
I'm sure u know I started out with a consulting firm and I can say I really learnt but didn't make money cos the salary was next to nothn. I can't really compare my time in consulting with what I'm doing now cos consulting afforded me the opportunity of going through 3 different SBUs. I started out with Performance mgt and I learnt how to deploy balanced scorecard. Was part of d team that implemented the stuff for some banks and later moved to strategy. Finished off with corporate finance and there and then, I made up my mind to be an investment banker cos all I needed to know to be an allrounder, I have learnt. Insha Allah, I have done 2 years in IB, time to move again! Saga, u know what I wanna do. Lol That's d next stage for me oh, Money dictates where I go mehn Ure right as per d dearth of activities in consulting terrain ad most orgs are developin competence in-house.unlike early 90s when banks would chase after consulting firms to implement their performance mgt model for them or even map out their corporate strategies; its not uncommon to find strategy desks in these banks. Most of these non consulting coys are poaching and attracting d best brains to come into d industries. As for Law, I don't think the lawyers are earning that much but they are strategically placed to make money cos u practically need a lawyer to do any deal in Lagos. What they don't earn in official emoluments, they earn in cuts, soft dollars and transfer payments. For Olaniwun Ajayi to have built that edifice in Banana island, then law firms are making serious money. As for O n G in 9ja, they are still the don puzos. If I leave for a multi national Oil and Gas coy tmr, Saga my salary would be 120k GBP. Its dt easy! |
Abeg we just gst be ruthless. SAF shdnt bench anybody cos of Valencia oh. We need 3pts against Bolton |
Chei Terrible week cos of the barrage of Chelsea players in ma team Chei!!! Na Drogba be my captain; na real lenten period be this |
I just wanna know why they added 5 mins. Ya kasuwa? |
Wahala dey oh Where is Debosky that likes talking about our backline 3 goals at home? Ur share price has just been hit by Tsunami. Rubbish team. U can't win jack this year |
Very explosive game It was a battle of strong mehn. Citey midfielders should be tested. They were just too strong. No party for Drogba and Malouda today, no thanks to Boyata and Kompany. Very solid performance from Citey. I hope we survive them this season. Yaya Toure was sublime. Thank God he didn't go to Arsenal or Chelsea, he woulda made a lot of difference to their teams Good footie from both sides |
Nobody wins an argument with this Saga Lol To some extent, ill agree with u cos I'm only gonna get married when I'm outta IB. I can't be married and be living on the plane. Even my relationships suffer in a way cos ill love to see ma babe daily but na lie Nyways, for now, 'the street is not smiling' so awon boiz gotta survive. Ise lowo for now, later, we'll see what we can do |
@Mykali Lol; I only have Drogba and he's my captain. |
2-2 draw Drogba to salvage a point in the dieing minutes after Silva and Tevez's goals in first half |
How is Paul Pogba doing? |
Hehehehe What is this guy justifying? U said Oshea was the best defender on the day; my question still stand. U didn't see d game Vida was by far the best defender on d field. He slipped? And so? When did slippin become a sin |
Berba shd score oh |
I don't know the IBs u roll with oh Some of 9ja dudes in London will be joining in the rendezvous in Dubai next week for the October 1 jamboree. U work long hours yeah but u most of them catch their fun on d job. Dunno of jobs where u practically live in 5 star hotels, fly first class cabins and u roll with CEOs and of course d pay is good. Some people pray to live this kinda life, this is what some people wanna do. What I know is, IBs don't really do this long hours thing for a long time. Usually, they get poached, set up advisory firms, or venture into an unrelated bizniz Saga, ill rather overwork than be under employed |
Draw abeg |
U leave UTD What's ur own? |
okies I think im gonna free Oshea now whats happening on Sunday? can i put my money on UTD to beat Bolton? i hope SAF is gonna stick to the team that beat Liverpool. i doubt it tho cos we have Valencia midweek |
debosky:dynamics of footie has gone beyond the CBs staying at the heart of the backline. The understanding is u have a man at the back no matter what are you implying Oshea ran from his full back position to catch up with Torres? no its man marking and when u lose ur man, somebody else cover up its football, team work against bayern, when Olic scored the first goal against UTD, Carrick was the last man in the backline. its not outta place to see that in modern day footie. It doesnt translate to the backline being porous |
Maybe his previous performances have been crap, but he did OK in the Liverpool game, at least better than your other defenders on the day.Vidic? or did u see the game on radio? |
okie dokie im here |
Evans who has caused like 3 goals this season isn't getting the type of slack O'Shea is getting, despite the fact that JOS picked himself up and crossed for the winner.evans is 22 , Oshea is 29 I can spot some similarities in the 2 of them cos Oshea broke into UTDs first eleven when Rio got banned for months and i can say his performances were washy too. Evans has been playing also cos of RIOs injuries; Oshea didnt do better than what Evans is doing when he was at his age so allow Evans to grow. when Evans becomes 29 and he still make mistakes, then we can decide to label him JOS stopped Torres as he should have - the blame for the goal should go to Fletcher for being deceived to open up the wall.Fletcher was at fault but its allowed for a good player to make mistakes Pepe reina messed up against Arsenal; we all know hes a very good goalie . The problem with Oshea is just that we havent seen him progress from the Oshea we used to know. hes still the same ol dumb, sluggish/clumsy player. credits to him, he delivered the pass tht gave us the lifeline. well done to him. But wait, if he cannot product rare magical moments, then why should we be keeping him as a UTD player? |
denzel2009:some of ma colleagues live on soft dollars, bonuses and gifts i do what i do and i oh yeah, i call it soft bucks (side kicks) ![]() u need all these to ensure ure 'still on d matter' (lol) what ethics are u talking about oh? show me one saint in this profession |
What makes me laugh the most is that NIGERIAN (or naija born) Brits are the ones claiming they can't go because of 'security' and 'sanitation' issues. . . .people that most likely grew up in Naija are now forming security issues?? Naija people can form sha.lmao |
i like |
debosky:we dont want Eboue-like player in our team we are manchester united not arsenal |
you will see that Alao Akala has done more good than so many governors in the south west.maybe OGD cos i dont know of any SW Guvnor that is as poor as Akala |
estinjohn:The teachers in Oyo state feel hes a wimp so why shd i believe what u just posted so what did he do in healthcare? what about agric? care to enlighten us? |
If he gets injured again, then he shd come to Nigeria. Synagogue for cleansing @eastbay I agree with u, ill prefer we use our youngsters and let them blossom than continue using those mediocres! |
What's Oshea natural/original position? I doubt he started as a CB |
Abeg ignore typos, errors cos I dey type with ma fone Mbulela, are u a manc? |
@Mbulela I've never liked the face of Oshea in the team except the day he became a goalie and the day he scored a last minute goal against Pool. As for Wes, I know Fergie once described him as one of the best natural defenders but he's too prone to errors and I don't think even he can displace Oshea and Rafael at RB. Last season, Brown was fit but he had to play contend with playing when Rafael and Oshea were not available. Brown is just passing time at UTD, he's a perfect example of a squad player |
Enugu Rangers won't bid for Oshea |
