@ Beaf
you always jump to support GEJ no matter what, try to be objective a little. what should Nigerians expect (not shifting of goal post promises) at the end of this year! Atleast we need to have moved a step closer to the right direction. That is the major fear of Nigerian. Nigerians should not be made to pay for the comfort of the politicians. |

muami: I think the poster is perfectly right in comparing the price of fuel in Nigeria with that of UK and the fact that standard of living or minimum wage in the UK is higher than Nigeria's does not diminish the argument. This is because fuel is an international product and the price is fixed internationally regardless of the GDP or income of individual countries. Consequently, it makes economic sense to pay the international price for it, whether in Nigeria or UK. Let me ask all those condemning the poster's argument. Can you go to an airline(both domestic and international) and ask them to reduce their prices in Nigeria simply because minimu wage in Nigeria is low? All of you that are using Blackberry phones, did you get it for a lower price than what it is sold for in the UK? What about your laptop? Did you buy it for less in Nigeria? I can go on and on but I see little need for it because I have observed that most of the arguments against the removal of the subsidy has been more sentimental than objective! Not necessarily! the micro and macro economic factors of each countries affect the cost of good and services in the respective countries. |

not only one or two projects! your £100 will no longer be sufficient! and the problem is that we don't have price controlling system in place so everything just adjust upward making life more challenging for the lowly paid (a good proportion of the populace), and at the end of the 2012, there will still be nothing to show for this hardship!!! |

I doubt the poster has a car in the Uk sef. The guy must be a life time user of oyster card!
You have access to tax return in most of these countries that can cushion your cost on fuel consumption to and from work. The concerns of Nigerians is not the increment per se but how does this new saving improve our quality of life! |

a smart fuel station can sell petrol @ N100/l and get a lot more customers than his competitors selling @ N140+/l. . . this is a good thing, but many peole haven't settled down to think of the possibilities. Some are even considering street protest (can u imagine!)
GEJ has done nothing wrong. . . There is no need for such economies. fuel must sell, so why sell at a lower price when you can sell at 140. |
